We would have loved to do a tour with this group but were hindered by poor communication from the company. We'd called ahead on two separate occasions inquiring about the three-hour tour they offered and whether we could make reservations for it. Both times we were assured that reservations would not be necessary and they mentioned nothing about availability issues. The day comes for us to do the tour and we arrive on Monday morning about an hour and a half before the tour we wanted. From there we are then told that (1) the three-hour tour isn't even offered until February and (2) the next tour is fully booked and we should have made reservations. So, all in all a waste of time for us thanks to the poor information we received from the company. read more

Our tour guide was awesome and provided such an amazing experienced. He excelled incredibly in making sure that we were all happy and comfortable. This was me and my family's first time snowmobiling and it was a blast! Kevin is the man! He was really safe and really kind and clear about everything! We did a practice lap and then went into the forest and went through nice turns, hills, and then stopped at this one open spot where we did a bunch of laps on our own and took pictures. We also went to a picnic area to stop and take pictures while it was snowing, and it was beautiful! It was about 2 hours and it was so fun! They gave us hot chocolate after as well! The gentlemen running this place brought me to tears: in the best way! My husband and I were excited to celebrate our first Married Christmas together so I had planned a trip to Mammoth to give my Florida boy his first white Christmas. I had made reservations here for the last ride of the day to allow us time to buy snow tires and weather the blizzard. I was told on the phone to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork (this was a message from a call center on behalf of the mountain's different recreation companies, NOT from Snowmobile Adventures itself).Even though, I thought I had generously allotted an ADDITIONAL 30 minutes to our trek, we ended up getting there about 5-10 minutes past the hour, so our group had left. I was devastated because I had already paid in full and I knew my husband would have loved the experience. One of their guides (who wasn't scheduled to be working) was there and SO generously offered to take us on a private guided tour. We couldn't believe it. The trip was amazing, the views gorgeous, and we could not be more grateful. NOT encouraging anyone to show up late, because we were extremely lucky the additional guide was even there, not to mention willing to take us when we'd been late. Main points: 1. This company and its employees are absolutely lovely and deserve your business 2. Allow LOTS of time to get from the entrance of Mammoth Village up the road, especially in inclement weather (we spent 30 minutes going 4 miles, although there was much more snow than they said is normal) 3. Plan to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time because after paperwork you have to get an orientation on the vehicles that starts about 10 minutes before your appointment. 4. Dress super duper warmly, enjoy the beauty (and the hot chocolate) and BRING CASH to tip your amazing guide!! read more

Awesome experience! We had never been on a Sno-Mo before so the instructor Scotty gave us a great rundown on the machine, and gave safety instructions before the tour started. The views are surreal, and something you can't just get from your car! I highly recommend this tour. I lived in Mammoth for a while, and never got to see the beauty I saw on this tour. What an experience it was! This was our first time ever riding a Snowmobile. Arrive at least 30 minutes in advance so that you can fill the paperworks, see the orientation video and helmet fitting. They offer a quick lap on the snowmobile before the tour starts, so that we get the hang of the vehicle. Since we were first timers, it took us a few minutes to get used to it. Our guide was very patient and friendly during the entire time. He was encouraging and would check on us to see if we were comfortable and keeping up with the group. The view at the summit as well as the ride to it was awesome! I would definitely recommend them. read more

Snowmobiling was an amazing experience. It was my first time going so I wasn't sure what to expect (snowmobiling actually kind of felt like jetskiing.) I didn't realize how much fun it could be! I was a little hesitant that we were required to go with a guide though because I thought it would be slow and boring but I was completely wrong! Even though we had to ride in a long trail of 9 snowmobiles, I was still able to hit 40mph or more! Every so often we would slow down though but it's understandable since we were going with a large group. Our guide made sure every 10 mins that everyone was doing ok and seeing if anyone needed to be rearranged in line in case the snowmobile in front was going too slow for you...this was the only downfall that you're somewhat restricted in how fast you go through the trails. BUT, our guide made up for the slowness! She gave us "free time" to test the power of the snowmobile in the middle of our tour. She took us to open terrain where we were able to freely ride around. I was even able to hit up to 50-60mph. You should try speeding up when there's bumps and hills because it'll really make you jump off your seat :) Or in my bf's case, he was going so fast over the hills that his snowmobile actually caught some air time! The trails you're taken on are pretty cool too....you get the experience of riding in the woods type of feel. The views are spectacular too...very breathtaking when you're at the top of the mtn! The whole experience was really great. If this is your first time, I would say to do the singles! I'm glad I was driving the entire time. If I were to go again, I'd still do singles...I don't wanna share my drive time with anyone else! It's too much fun :P Since I'm somewhat familiar with snowmobiling, I wouldn't mind returning here and definitely doing the self-guided tour now. (BTW, you can't do the self-guided tour here unless you've been on their guided tour at least once..they want you to be familiar with the trails before you head out on your own). The people are very friendly and helpful and the trails are fabulous! read more

the snowmobile trailer is behind the Yodler, near the Main lodge. i must say this was the FUNNEST thing we did at mammoth. i reserved two doubles -- for the hubby, me, and two kiddos. i figured my parents were too old to ride. my 71YO father INSISTED on joining us at the very last minute, and the staff was super accommodating. since it was friday and the price for a single was the same as a double, i forced my mother to come along for the ride. it was the first snowmobiling experience for 5 out of 6 of us. it was SOOOOOO fun and worth every penny. (total came to $408) basically your group rides to an area called crater flats (i think), where you can go crazy and drive around like maniacs. then you ride back to base. i lost all track of time during this experience, but i would guess about 45 minutes to get to crater flats, maybe 15-20 minutes of free play, and 25 minutes to get back?? thanks to June Y.'s review, i made sure to be next-to-last, and the hubbs was the caboose. we fell back, caught up, and had a great time. my only complaint would be that our guide didn't allot enough time for pictures. he told us he'd let us know when to take them, but that basically meant he would take A PHOTO with our camera for us. i wanted to have a shot with just the kids, just me and my husband, the girls in one group, the boys in another, grandparents with the grandkids.... (you get the picture). i wanted pictures of every combination possible. i would have gladly used our "own time" at crater flats and done this myself, had i known that was the time to do it. :( if you're like me and want to go camera crazy, my advice would be to get all your pictures taken early. (but don't miss out on the free play either!) read more

I thought I try something new for a change and go light on my legs. So I decided to go on a snowmobile ride. Based on these reviews from fellow Yelper's it seems like they have never been on a snowmobile before and the experience "was totally awesome." Well I hate to say this, the Mammoth Snowmobile adventure is another rip off extension of Mammoth Mountain inc. The ride was short and it really never got to be anywhere exciting. I should have just rented a snowmobile and gone off on my own. At least the staff was nice. read more

So disappointing! The adventure tour is advertised as taking you to an open play area, and 1.5 hours of ride time. We started 20 minutes late and ended 5 minutes early with no open play area, or fields to have fun. We went 20 mph max! It was boring, lame, and a waste of money. What a joke!!!! read more

It was our last day at Mammoth and my girlfriend had no luck signing up for any activities. Luckily, right before my own Snowboarding lesson the day before, I was able to sign us up for the guided snowmobile tour for the following day. It was Awesome! My girlfriend loved it and riding among so many trees to then come upon a field of pure white was eye opening. We were able to ride around this huge snow field bringing our snowmobile up to 30mph and it was so much fun! The hour and a half tour just flew by and I definitely recommend it! My wife, 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter rented 2 snowmobiles for 1-1/2 hours but we felt it would have been best for 3 hours. Our tour guide was great as he kept the pace throughout the ride (group of 8 snowmobiles). The heated grips really helped to keep our hands warm. I would absolutely recommend. Although the kids wanted to snowboard/ski most of the trip they welcomed the change of pace and thought it was a great adventure. read more

Went with my family during the snow storm earlier this winter. The weather conditions were pretty crazy so we weren't able to do a 3 hour ride nor was there an option for free riding that day but I was nevertheless impressed with the ride and the staff was very helpful. The reviews saying that the ride is boring and there was no speed have only themselves to blame. Even with the the guided tour, I was able to get the snowmobile to about 50mph on a number of straight sections. The 1.5 hour tour actually seemed much longer than it was and everyone in my family had a great time. read more

First time snowmobiling and will not be my last. We had a group of 15 people people, seven of them were children from 5-11 years and we all had a blast! Kevin, our tour guide was amazing. He gave us a lesson on how to operate the snowmobile. After a trial run, we all headed to the beautiful picturesque scenery of Mammoth's white wooded forests and meadows. Riding freely in the open area was exhilarating! Kevin took great care of us; he continuously checked on us and was so fun, kind, and full of energy. When he learned that my little one was getting cold, he pulled out a pack of hand warmers, activated them and placed them in her gloves to keep her warm. This came without any hesitation whatsoever. She hanged on to those hand warmers closely the rest of the day saying, "Kevin game them to me." Thank you Kevin and the rest of the Snowmobile Adventures team for an experience of a lifetime.
