4 contractors came out before I contacted So Cal Air. Each one of them went right into their pitch after examining our AC unit and furnace. Each of them assured me that our unit was dead. I believed them because the unit is over 30 years old. It made sense that I would have to replace it. So Cal Air came in and I told them I needed a new HVAC unit. After careful examination, the technician told me that he can certainly provide a quote but why not give him some time to fix it first. I was skeptical, but he dove in and 20 minutes later told me there were 3 problems with the unit and that he can fix it. 30 minutes later, my entire system was up and running again. It's incredibly rare for a contractor to take their time like this to save us money. Granted, it's still a 35-year-old system, so it will still need to be replaced soon, but it should get us through the summer and possibly another year. Not only great customer service. It's a smart move on their part as they will be the first company we go to when we must replace our HVAC system. I highly recommend them. read more

Menooa was very professional and communicative! He explained the process of replacing our duct work thoroughly. He showed us things that were incorrect in our previous installation and how our insulation was on the inside of the unit blowing through the ducts into our house. Glad that I chose So Cal Air. Great service right from my call to inquire, schedule and service call completed. The service techs were on time, very knowledgeable and take time to explain to me the limitations of my current system because of the huge area to cool with the inadequate duct system. Nonetheless they recharge my AC with 2 Lb. of refrigerant instead of selling me other expensive services. While we were not in a direct fire zone, the ash from the recent fires had most definitely settled on our roof and small toxin particles had gotten through our MERV8 filter. For years, a room on the top floor of our home was basically unusable in the warmer months due to the heat (and that's even with central air). We finally decided to get a split installed. It was the best decision ever, and not just because the split cools so fast and so well (and saves you from having to run the central air all day), but also because the process with Menooa and his team was so easy. My heater crapped out. I had another technician come out to look at the problem yesterday. He advised me to do a full HVAC replacement along with an expansion of all my ducts and vents. It would run me between 14 and 22k, depending on which system I chose. I called Menooa for a second opinion. He was over within an hour, isolated the problem to a failing inducer fan motor, went out for the part, came back with a new one and had my unit humming before noon. The motor cost $850 (the other guy said it would cost at least $1500). Menooa charged me $50 labor. I'm not saying the system is going to last forever, but for a house we plan to sell within the next year or so, replacing the motor was a much more welcome solution, and I felt Menooa had no interest in seeing me spend more money than I need to. For a fast, honest and reasonably-priced solution to your Heating/AC problem, I can't recommend Menooa and So Cal AC&Heating highly enough! read more

Outstanding service from Menooa. His honesty is refreshing. I thought my mini splits were not functioning correctly in the heat mode. It turns out I was not setting the temperature right. He was kind enough to check the condenser for issues as well. He also looked at the 60+ year old gas furnace to see if it could be repaired. Will use him for all future HVAC servicing. Menooa and his team did great work removing my wall AC unit and a built-in gas wall heater, capping the gas line, and installing a new more efficient heat pump. None of the other contractors I contacted would do the patching on the walls. Menooa's team patched the interior and exterior walls the same day as the installation and did an excellent job smoothing out the plaster. Once I paint the walls, the work will be invisible. After I paid the deposit, the crew was able to come the next day and finished all the work by 3 p.m. so that I'm further along on this project than I anticipated. The price beat the two other contractors who bid on the job and included the patchwork on the walls. So, I was very happy with the value I received from So Cal Air. This review is long overdue! A few months ago Menooa's crew installed a mini-split unit in my garage, and it's working great (at least as a heater... it's been too cold for AC :) )! From the get-go I was really impressed with Menooa. I recently moved into a multilevel home with a minisplit HVAC system with zones on each floor. One of the floors was blowing warm air regardless of thermostat settings while the others were blowing cold air. Unfortunately, diagnosing the issue and fixing it required dealing with the manufacturer's awful and nonresponsive customer support, but Menooa was able to eventually identify switched wiring between the controllers and the outdoor unit, and the fix was quick and easy after that. He thoroughly tested the system before leaving to ensure everything was working properly. Throughout the experience, I always felt that Menooa was being communicative and transparent about what the issue might be, and what fix it required. We had purchased a 100 year old house that "had central air conditioning," but it barely worked. As it starting getting hot last summer, we decided to replace the entire system. We got a referral to a very good company, but they, and every other company we contacted, said that they could only help us in a month's time. Based on the his Yelp reviews, I called Menooa for what was really supposed to be a second opinion. He came out to our house immediately, gave his expert opinion on the situation, beat the other companies quote with more efficient equipment, and said that he could start IN A FEW DAYS.
