Second time using So Cal Air--our 12-year-old two-stage gas-fired HVAC unit needed a new blower motor ($3600) so we decided to replace it with a heat pump unit. Menooa got us on the schedule quickly so that we'd get the rebates (most of which expire in a week) and in two days the old unit was out and the new one was in. It's quieter than the old one, and we're glad to not be using fossil fuels anymore. An added benefit: since the unit requires less energy than the old unit, our solar battery will be able to include it in our whole-home backup. Two weeks ago, I returned home to find it quite warm in the house. I decided to turn on the HVAC that hasn't been on since the summer of last year. It turned on as normal but after about 5 min, it shut down. Everything looked normal on the thermostat but the system wasn't running. I checked the circuit breakers and they had not tripped. I searched yelp for recommendations for a quality HVAC company and So Cal Air was at the top of the ratings list. I am located a little outside of there service area but after speaking to a very helpful and pleasant young lady on the phone, I had an appointment scheduled. Fast forward to today (Monday). Two So Cal Air technician's arrived. I showed they where everything was and they went to work. They explained everything they were going to do before they did it and also explained what they were doing as they did the work. Both technician's were very polite and extremely knowledgeable. They discovered a Contactor in the unit outside went bad which also cause a fuse to blow in the blower unit in the attic. The Contactor and the fuse were replaced, they checked to may sure that the coolant was at the proper level, and tested temperatures at each vent. I wish I had videoed their service. The company I work for has technicians as well and I think our techs could learn some valuable lessons from these So Cal Air tech. The repair was quick and the cost was very reasonable! 4 contractors came out before I contacted So Cal Air. Each one of them went right into their pitch after examining our AC unit and furnace. Each of them assured me that our unit was dead. I believed them because the unit is over 30 years old. It made sense that I would have to replace it. So Cal Air came in and I told them I needed a new HVAC unit. After careful examination, the technician told me that he can certainly provide a quote but why not give him some time to fix it first. I was skeptical, but he dove in and 20 minutes later told me there were 3 problems with the unit and that he can fix it. 30 minutes later, my entire system was up and running again. It's incredibly rare for a contractor to take their time like this to save us money. Granted, it's still a 35-year-old system, so it will still need to be replaced soon, but it should get us through the summer and possibly another year. Not only great customer service. For years, a room on the top floor of our home was basically unusable in the warmer months due to the heat (and that's even with central air). We finally decided to get a split installed. My heater crapped out. I had another technician come out to look at the problem yesterday. He advised me to do a full HVAC replacement along with an expansion of all my ducts and vents. It would run me between 14 and 22k, depending on which system I chose. I called Menooa for a second opinion. He was over within an hour, isolated the problem to a failing inducer fan motor, went out for the part, came back with a new one and had my unit humming before noon. The motor cost $850 (the other guy said it would cost at least $1500). Menooa charged me $50 labor. I'm not saying the system is going to last forever, but for a house we plan to sell within the next year or so, replacing the motor was a much more welcome solution, and I felt Menooa had no interest in seeing me spend more money than I need to. For a fast, honest and reasonably-priced solution to your Heating/AC problem, I can't recommend Menooa and So Cal AC&Heating highly enough! read more

The service techs were on time, very knowledgeable and take time to explain to me the limitations of my current system because of the huge area to cool with the inadequate duct system.
