We live in Tujunga. We've used them twice, once many years ago to fix our air conditioning unit that "American Air & Heating" messed up by putting the wrong coolant in. This was the time that "freon" was being phased out. Unfortunately the other company used the new cooling replacement & it messed up our older unit. The folks from So-Cal Heating & Air recognized the error immediately. They could have tried to sell us a new unit like the last one did, but instead, managed to fix it, & put the correct cooling agent in. It's been running great since. A few weeks ago, Jan. 14,2026 our heater wouldn't stay lit. (This is when had the 2 week cold spell.) They came out the very next morning, found the wire that needed to be cleaned & it immediately began to work & has continued working since. It took them less than 15 mins. to check out everything else. I hope this small, "family & extended friends/family business" stays in business for the foreseeable future. Menooa and his team we're able to come out and deal with a recurring leak around my roof mounted unit that had not been able to be resolved after previous visits from another company. Excellent work and priced well! They were able to come out quickly to evaluate a leak I was dealing with around my roof mounted AC unit. I had had another company come out multiple times to try to address the problem and they had been unable to resolve it and so I was looking for a second opinion. I am so glad I did because Menooa was professional, skilled, and wonderful to work with. He not only assessed the issue and provided potential solutions but also identified that I did not have my condensation drain set up appropriately and recommended a solution for that as well. Diagnosed our issue with our new Nest thermostat quickly and made the necessary repairs in a very professional manner. We did a major home remodel and needed our HVAC replaced. We have a two-story house and our bedroom has never heated or cooled properly. I left a message at So Cal at 7:30am the next day and Rachel responded within the hour! AND she was able to fit us in for her guys to check out our AC within 3 hours! They found that our capacitor had worn out. They had a new one in their truck, put it in, and Hallelujah! our AC was working again. Luckily got an early service appointment for the same day. Josh, the service tech, arrived early, after calling to make sure we were available. He was polite and professional and was able to quickly diagnose the issue. Luckily he had a replacement part with him and was able to complete the repair in less than 20 minutes. I must report that I had the worst experience I have ever had with Damian Ryan and his SoCal Heating &Air. I was in the process of getting bids to replace/upgrade my AC system when I remembered that I had hiring Damian once back in '92. I called him and after the expected pleasantries we made an appointment for him to come out and talk about the upgrades I had planned. What happened next was frankly shocking: A man showed up unannounced wearing a SoCal T-shirt and told me he was here to install the new AC?!? New AC??..... What AC?!?Damian chose not to come for our appointment. In fact I never got a consultation. with him. This is what I got: Damian knew the AC unit that I had, and unbeknownst to me, he apparently had the identical "surplus" unit that was four years old. Also unbeknownst to me: There was NO warranty! When I started asking Damian, on the phone, about the system I wanted he got indignant and said that I would be saving a lot of money, despite the fact that I NEVER got a proposal from him. He then threatened to have his crew leave AFTER they had totally removed my existing system. The crew was completely incompetent. The worst part was that they never sealed the unit to the house. So, inevitably, months later, after the first rain of the season I woke up to discover water pouring in my living room, which is directly under the AC unit. Unfortunately the leak completely ruined all of my favorite coffee table books and seriously damaged the table. To this day Damian never showed up to supervise or inspect his workers installation. read more

Poor follow up on installed equipment. Make their work sound like a favor but just becomes a problem.

You know how some reviews sound like they're too good to be true? This is going to be one of them - but feel free to check out my other reviews, I'm not a bot! I recently acquired a property with a 30+ year old HVAC system. The seller claimed both the heating and A/C weren't working, but we only need the system to work for 1 year since we were going to be doing extensive renovations. We called 4 highly rated HVAC companies in the area and told them our situation. 3 of the companies sent out seasoned folks (at least 1 or 2 were the owners of their respective companies), who told us our whole system was dead and that we had to pay $11,000 to $15,000 to replace them even though they knew we only needed the system for 1 year. One of them made vague promises of possibly buying it back for a credit if we used them for a larger project in the future. SoCal Heating & Air sent us two "kids" (J.M. and A.P.). I swear they seemed like they should have been finishing up senior year of HS, but these two gentleman were respectful professionals that told us they'd give it their best shot. Well, their best was pretty darn good. They fixed BOTH the heater AND A/C (separate problems) with some new parts and refrigerant for $475!!! The owner, Damian, also stopped by at one point to drop off a part and he was super friendly and gave a lot of great advice for our future project (which had little to do with HVAC). Finally, this review is WAY overdue... JUST LIKE MY PAYMENT TO THEM :( They sent the invoice weeks after the work, and I still haven't paid even a month after the due date yet no one has nagged or threaten me. These folks are too nice. Our heating has been dwindling down until it was barely warm, and i suspected anything from a ripped duct to a vent blockage to ??? So-Cal Heating & Air installed our AC in 2017. Everything seemed fine until a couple months ago when we were going to paint our bathroom and realized there was moisture in the walls. Water had been leaking from a drain line into our walls for years. Damian, the owner, came by with two technicians. They fixed the leak, but that left us with an expensive bathroom demolition, water remediation and construction to deal with. Damian admitted fault, but his only offer was to have his "guys" handle it. Naturally with kids in the house, we wanted to have everything properly remediated and tested to be sure there was no mold present. We preferred to go through their insurance company as they were liable. Their insurance never came by, just relied on some pictures that Damian's team took, and told us the claim was denied for a nonsensical reason. So ultimately we had to pay over $14K out of pocket on something that was 100% the fault of this company. read more

Much earlier in the year, we hired Damian and his team to replace our whole AC system as well as install a dual system for our lofts downstairs. We were recommended to them by a host of folks on NextDoor which has been quite helpful to me and my husband as we highly prefer referrals. We like to do our research with all contractors so we actually met with 2 other HVAC companies before deciding and although the prices were fairly similar we went with Damian because he seemed to really want to do good work in the neighborhood and we wanted to work with and support a local family company! It was very nice to meet Damian and his team worked quickly and efficiently. Maybe a bit too efficiently because there were a few loose ends here and there, and one I'm still waiting on. After everything was installed, the next time it rained, there was a leak right below where the new system was. Like a good amount of water was coming through which was alarming, especially with a new baby at home. I gave them a call, someone came by, and turns out that the sealing around the system was not done as comprehensively, so they fixed that up. I also kept calling because one of the initial things I had a concern about was how loud the dual system downstairs ended up being. This wasn't communicated to me before the process was started, and if I'd known how loud the system would be we might not have installed the system downstairs that way (perhaps we would have just done two mini-splits instead). They promised that someone would come by to take a look and see if there was a way to muffle the noise a bit. Like literally when people are downstairs they are not able to sleep due to how loud it is so it renders the system they installed quite useless. I called at least 4-5 times and left messages here and there to see when someone could come by, and so did my husband. I've talked to Tracy over the phone a number of times and she is quite helpful but I think maybe they got way too busy by the time summertime rolled around to get back to us. I feel they are a solid company but these loose ends are very important to tie up and especially important to me, the customer. Definitely still hoping to get this resolved with them soon because I think it'd be a shame to have to go find another HVAC company to fix an issue that they'd know best since they installed the system firsthand! read more

Then they never sent a quote. A few days later I did get a call from Damian and he said he wanted to take a look himself because it may be a bigger job than initially expected, but then he never followed up. I called and left a message the next week, no response. I've seen the positive reviews on here and wanted to give SoCal Heating and Air my business, but they were unresponsive. Unit was only installed 2 months ago and it has been a week that unit is not working. Have put in a call everyday for a week with no return call or emails. We finally decided to put in a heating and air conditioning system when we got a new roof.We have lived here many years and have added on rooms several times. Other companies said that air vents couldn't be installed in the new rooms because of the way the roofs were joined. He was nice, helpful and a genuine guy. It impressed me and I wanted to develop a business relationship with him, unfortunately I didn't realize they don't do commercial.
