As a resident of Brownsburg, this is one of the first places we ate at when we moved here more than 11 years ago. The pizza is fabulous with plenty of toppings on top of the thin NY style crust and their bread sticks are perfectly seasoned too! The marinara sauce is unlike any you'll get at other pizza places. They also have great pasta dishes as well that we've had on several occasions. On top of great food, So Italian is owned by a remarkable family that always greets us warmly. They do a lot for the community as well which is commendable. My family highly recommends this restaurant for a night out, a date, or for the whole family. read more

I'm giving So Italian a 1-star rating, because of a very disappointing experience I had there recently. We've eaten there several times before, so it was surprising. I ordered something from the menu and it wasn't what I was expecting, so I sent it back and ordered some breadsticks and a slice of pizza in its place. The breadsticks and pizza didn't cost as much as what I had originally ordered, so I assumed they would refund the difference in price. The manager wouldn't refund the difference in price, so I asked for a second slice of pizza to make up the difference. He said that he couldn't do that, either. Keep in mind that they make it clear to their customers that they're a Christian business. There are Bible verses displayed and on their website it says that they're closed on Sunday because of Jesus. I'm a Christian, too, which is my foundation for right and wrong. If I owned a business, I would want people to know we were Christians, simply by the way we treated our customers. For the sake of Christ and Christianity, I hope that they'll take their scripture verses down. It's equivalent to someone having a "Jesus" bumper sticker on their car and flipping people off in traffic. read more

Wow. This place was really very good. First of all Italian is not my go to food of choice. Also this is in no means a "four star Italian restaurant". That said, it earned my stars. The salad was very fresh and good. The soup tasted like it was not only home made but also a family recipe. It is a good quick lunch spot with self serve fountain drinks and good breadsticks. They have a friendly staff but "So Italian" should be called "So Disgusting" instead. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but the food was just awful. I still shudder every time we drive past there. My mom warned me against the place but I had to know for myself. In this case I should have listened to her. I am lucky to have found So Italian! Its really home away from home. I moved here about 2 years with my husband. I was always a rebellious girl back in Positano(my home town), I would never like to stay inside learning to cook from my mother. I was adventurous and loved to play with my two older brothers. My father spoiled me lot, so he would let me go with them. All in all I never learned to cook, see I always thought my mom would be there. Oh her cooking was fabulous! Let me tell you, thats as a good as it was going to get. She died a 5 years ago. Her dream had always been to come to America, so in turn I came here to live with my husband, in her honor. I was so very lonely at first. No friends or family. And I did not know to cook. My husband did learn english first, and made a few friends here. They told us about this nice little family restaurant. I was so happy. The "Italian" restaurants here are all frozen, and don't taste Italian either. So we went together. Wow, what a similarity to my mom's cook!! I've been a regular customer ever since. My husband has met the owner there. He is very funny. The wife really loves to cook, and she enjoys it very much. This restaurant really saved me. I was so sad coming here, without my mom, or family, and without the food. I highly recommend. The prices are really too low for the food you're getting, and the ingredients are excellent. read more

This is the best Pizza place in all of Central Indiana. Their "So Cheesy" is amazing. I love that they are also a Christian restaurant. I haven't yet tried their other Italian food, because I always want the pizza. The only negatives are that it is pretty pricey and you have to order at the cash register. They do bring your food to you though, and they do have tables. read more

Pretzel breadsticks are lovely. That's where it ends. Garden salad is literally iceberg with a fleck of carrot shred. No tomatoes, cheese or even croutons. Pizza has a nice chewy, yeasty crust, but mundane and sparse cubed toppings. Frozen pizza these days offers more compelling visual and culinary temptation. Price is rather high for offering. I have had the pleasure of dining at So Italian numerous times and have never been let down. The food is exceptional!!! Their hand tossed crust is just the way I like it (in between pan and thin bordering on the thin side) and they don't skimp on toppings. The pasta dishes hold their own, especially the 4 cheese ravioli. Nightly pasta specials normally not on the menu give you a change of pace if you are not already addicted to a particular selection. The calzones are wonderful and you can build your own for a $1 more with up to 7 ingredients, one of my favorites. The staff is very sweet and the service is prompt. I also urge you to try their desserts with the Tiramisu being my favorite and a true Italian recipe from what I am told. If you are near Brownsburg you should check it out, I wouldn't steer you wrong. read more

We have picking up pizza for 10 years, If there was an issue it was taken care of but that did not happen Friday. They gave us the wrong pizza (carryout) and we could not see the topping under the cheese. We called in and told them we were given the wrong pizza and someone else would also have the wrong pizza. The young lady asked what was on the pizza we received 4 times, almost like she was busy doing something else. She was rude at the end of the conversations and said she could not refund. I told her she was rude and we would be in for a refund. She continued to speak over the top of me and there was not manager there. While there she was just a as rude and offered another pizza I said no just a refund. After a lengthy argument she did give a refund. Sad we will no longer go there due to the rude person that was not a manager but later said she was a manager. Too rude to deal with. read more

I'm not sure at which restaurant these other people ate. My wife and I make weekly visits to So Italian. We see a lot of people there, so it can't be too bad. I love their panzerotti, so full of mozzerella cheese, sausage and pepperoni with marinara on the side. The pasta is okay... I wouldn't go out of my way to go there for that, but the pizza is awesome. Yes, the service is not always the best, but it's a family-run place, so I'm not sure what these other people were expecting. It's not the Olive Garden, people, but it's good food and unique, authentic Italian and pizza for Brownsburg. Go downtown or to one of the chain restaurants if your expectations are so lofty. read more

I'm really surprised at the negative views on here (and the snobbish people). This is your classic pizzeria. You walk up to the counter, order your food, they bring it to you, and yes you are encouraged to clear your own plates. They have the most amazing homemade tomato sauce for their pasta and breadsticks. Awesome breadsticks! Their dough is fresh and so are the ingredients. I hate canned mushrooms (which many family pizza places use in Brownsburg), yuck. So Italian uses fresh mushrooms and has fresh spinach too. The staff has always been very friendly and we dine-in and carry out. I wish they had a bigger place b/c it's always packed - which says something for this place. I also wish they had delivery and were open on Sundays. But by far, the best pizza/pasta place in Brownsburg. read more
