Absolutely fantastic attraction. Huge screen projection film, only lasts about three minutes maybe. There are a row of seat that you buckle into, and the seats are attached to a device from above. There is a faux wing above your head, and there are fans that will blow scents in your face, and there are different scents for each scene that appears on the screen. The seats are hoisted into the air so you feel that you're soaring over the scenes (hence the name). This is a must go-to while in Disney. We went on twice, back to back. read more

I remain absolutely baffled as to why this ride always has an hour or more wait time. It's a theatre with seats that float. The "smells of California" everyone raves about barely work (I smelled oranges for like 2 seconds at one point). The worst part is the editing. You're on a ride that jump-cuts all of it's sequences. It is impossible for me to get into the mood when I'm going down a river and BAM suddenly I'm in a canyon without any sort of transition. There is no story with this one either. It's just a giant 20-person hang glider with badly edited aerial footage. Go ride Test Track a few more times, or try drinking around the world. read more

Great ride, you really do feel like you are Soarin' over California. Waits are super long, so get your fast pass. Seems shortened than the last time I rode it many years ago. I couldn't help but think though what the ride experience would really be like in HD. Wouldn't that be something. read more

Geez, it's a good thing I really like this ride and my BF didn't ride it yet, because even early in the morning, the line was long! We went to Disneyland in 2013, but didn't get to ride it because of time issues...and I really wanted him to experience it! Being at Disney World's Epcot to ride it is, I guess - a close second! Haha...yeah right! Anyway, if you've never been on this ride - I highly recommend it! And if you don't like it, then at least you tried it! One of the best rides in EPCOT. I heard they're changing it to Soarin' Over Florida soon, so that will be pretty cool. I live in California so it's always fun to see the places in CA I haven't had a chance to see yet. Oh and the safety briefing in the beginning is a hoot. I was scared! I can't believe i'm actually writing this after bungie jumping and zip lining. Something about this ride made me nervous. The seats looked like they were constructed of lawn furniture material. Don't sit front row, too high. All you have is this seat belt to protect you from falling. Well, your row gets moved side to side and tilt you downwards. Then, your feet are just dangling in the air. The ride was so beautiful I wish I could've enjoyed myself more. I actually love the song they played during this ride too. After you hear it a few times, it's just lovely (I have the Disney Parks CD). read more

This really is a great ride and has been for a very long time, but it needs to be updated. It's been rumored for a while that they are filming a new movie featuring places other than California. They also have some areas on the screen with large blemishes that can taint the view. In all, it's still an enjoyment that amazes you how they blow the smell of what you are flying over and still make you feel your feet will drag into the water as you fly so close to the bottom. read more

My family has gone to Disney world each thanksgiving for the last 12 years and we usually skip Epcot, but this year we added it to our list of things to do. Soarin is my favorite attraction/ride in all of Disney! It takes you on a journey over the state of California and stimulates most of your senses. You feel the wind blowing on your face while seeing amazing views and smell the orange groves and pine trees and your seat moves as if you are gliding over the terrain. And although the line is usually long, they have interactive video walls that almost make you forget that you're waiting in line. If you only have time to go on one ride during your visit to Disney, make it Soarin. read more

This is an excellent ride with potential to be a 5-star attraction. The primary limiting factor is the wait time. On some days, standby can exceed 3 hours, which means you're paying probably $25 for this ride alone if you buy a single day pass. Fast pass usually exceeds 30 minutes as well, which is unusually long for a ride. Even so, the ride is enjoyable enough to still earn a favorable rating. If you have the time, I recommend this ride, but if you are only going to be in Epcot for a day, enjoy the other attractions on display. read more

I would have given this 5 stars except for the wait. Even with a fastpass it was still almost 40 minutes in line. There was a minimum height requirement of 40 inches. Our 5 year old was tall enough to go, but the 4 year old was too short. (Both are on the short side for their age). Despite the wait, once you make it on to the ride, it definitely lives up to the hype. You sit suspended while you watch a movie designed to make you feel like you are flying over various locations in California. The footage is beautiful and often breathtaking. There is a little motion of your seat and this combined with the visuals really makes you feel like you are flying. They even have warnings for people who are prone to motion sickness! Overall, a really great ride. And not scary - my sensitive 5 year old loved it. read more

Agree with some others that this is a HIGHLY overrated ride. I knew it was a simulated ride over California, but I somehow expected much more, since they made such a big deal in the beginning about securing flip-flops and belongings. The scenery is stunning, but the dangling feet above me and my proximity to the edge of the screen detracted from the full experience. Do NOT wait in line for more than 45 minutes for this ride. It's not worth it. Your best bet is to be one of the first in line to enter the park, skip to Soarin and secure a fast pass. Then while waiting for your fast pass time, go ride Test Track. Two of the biggest rides - boom! done! I did enjoy the smell of cedar and orange on this ride. But overall, I was so disppointed. read more

I remember when Soarin' first opened at Epcot and had very long lines and hard-to-get (paper) Fastpass tickets! You were lucky to ride once or maybe twice throughout a week-long vacation. Now it's very easy to get on, usually with standby wait times of only 10-15 minutes. This week, we rode several times in a row inside only an hour or so. It's a fun ride and good for children, with a height requirement of only 40 inches. I think the movie has been redone and improved since the original (the orange groves are now gone), but the spirit is the same -- and features aerial footage over many continents, landmarks and countries. The entire ride lasts more than 4 minutes, and is a lot of fun. Located in "the Land," it's also right by the food court (with great allergy-friendly food options and large benches that are great for kids' afternoon naps) and the land boat ride, and only a short walk away from the Finding Nemo ride at "the Seas." I definitely recommend this ride, especially when visiting Epcot with little ones. read more

Wake up and smell the oranges!!! (You really can smell the oranges!!!) Soarin' gets 4 stars for crushing my expectations and "imagineering" something lame sounding into an amazing dream! I wonder if they have a Soarin' over Florida ride in California?!? Probably not. But anyways, my Grandma really really wanted to ride this. I thought it sounded kind of lame, plus there was a huge line. My Grandma insisted and she had been letting me stay at her resort condo for free for the past couple days (gotta keep Grandma happy!) So I reluctantly agreed on the condition that we got the Fast Passes. It was lunch time and the Fast Passes would have us come back in the evening. They were not sure if they wanted to walk back, but I persuasively explained it was on the way back to the entrance. All agreed and I finished my lunch extra quick, grabbed everyone tickets and picked up Fast Passes. Later that evening we came back. We got to zoom right up to the front of the line. So nice! Then they took us into a room with a huge screen. There were chairs dangling from a big bar almost like an inverted roller coaster. There was a convenient basket below the seats that fit our left overs from dinner. If your shoes are loose, you might want to take them off. There is not too much movement, but if your shoes fall when you are lifted up high, it may not be easy to find them. The ride consists to simulating a hang glider going over California. I would suggest getting in the front row if you can, because then you will not see peoples' feet dangling in the upper part of your visions. The suspended chairs gently curve around the turns. Disney did a very very good job with the effects on this motion simulator. When you fly over the orange groves, well yeah, you can really smell the oranges. This ride was great fun and really surpassed all my expectations. I highly suggest you go for a glide on Soarin' read more

This was my first time on Soarin'. I kept feeling like it was a new ride. Maybe because the wait is always so long or that I haven't been to Epcot since 2008. I looked it up and the ride was opened in 2005. So it's 10 years old. I feel that it's showing it's age. Maybe that is why they're going to close the ride at the end of 2015 and open it back up in the summer of 2016. We got a FastPass for the ride and still had to wait about 20 minutes. That was a little annoying. It was however better than waiting the 75 minutes with the other people. The whole concept of the ride is you're in a seat that moves up and over a large, circular screen. The screen projects different scenes from aerial shots of California. They also pip in smells, such as pine trees and oranges. The smells are more like room refreshers. The screen/image projection isn't the best. You can see the framing for the screen, a bunch of rectangular shapes that shine through the picture. If you're wearing shoes that come off easily, you can leave them where you start and they will be back there when you get back as it brings you right back to the starting location. I hope that the refurbishments bring it into this decade. read more

This is definitely one of my favorite rides at Disney! The last time I rode it was over 6 years ago, so the fact that it was updated and I was able to experience something new was great! This is such a beautifully crafted ride in which you feel like you are traveling through different countries and areas around the world with their spectacular views. The effects this ride provides is magical. You can smell the ocean, the trees, the sand, etc. It is so much fun and it is a great ride for all ages. I cannot wait to ride it again when I come back to Disney. read more

This is my favorite attraction in all of WDW. I won't explain the attraction like the other reviews because you really need to experience it for yourself. I might be a bit biased because I'm from California but this ride gives me that puppy dog and rainbows feeling everytime I experience it. The music is just beautiful and fits the grandeur of the film, which represents California in a beautiful way. Be sure to grab a fastpass because the standby line is atrocious. If I could give a separate rating on the queue it would probably get 1 star. read more

A fun ride - something different, which is hard to do when you're as big as Disney, and have done almost everything. It is an immersive ride, and at times you do feel like you're hang gliding over California. I can't say it's worth the wait that it usually has though - 3 hours to sit in a chair over a movie screen? This is Epcot's signature ride. One of my favorites for sure. The premise is that you are in a hand glider or at least sitting down while flying through California. They have a fan going to make it feel like wind is passing you as you brush up against the trees and your feet almost touch the water. It's really fun. They also have citrus smells and smells of pine so that you really feel like you're right above the corresponding areas. The lines to this amusement ride are extraordinarily long. Your best bet is to get a fast pass or just find a time of day that people are just not there so that you don't have to wait over an hour. Whatever, if there is no choice for fast pass or you just can't find it on a fast pass, wait in line anyway, it is well worth it. It is my second favorite ride at Epcot! read more

Epcot is our favorite park, and Soarin is one of our favorite things to do at Epcot (besides drinking around the world) Get there early and get a fast pass and then go ride something with a shorter wait time, then go back during your fast pass time to ride Soarin so you can just walk right on. One of the best rides at Disney EVER!!!! The one in Disneyland and Disneyworld are the same. With the fastpass this ride is considered tier one so you can only get one between soarin, test track, and frozen. We got the frozen fast pass and ended up waiting about an hour for this ride. The wait goes by pretty quickly and they have trivia questions displaying on the side screen while waiting which helps pass the time. read more

So great you'll want to experience this ride twice to take it all in! Soarin is located in the land pavilion of Disney's Epcot across from their "living with the land" attraction. Soarin takes the audience on a flight through some of the world's most beautiful locations such as the Taj Mahal, an African Safari, Paris, the Great Wall of China, etc. The audience is filled with the sights, sounds, feelings, and even scents of each location. Those who are prone to motion sickness should be cautious, however if you focus on one item at a time you should be fine. A must see! read more

Fly through the sky! Feel the breeze! Smell the surroundings! This Disney attraction is creative & I haven't been on anything quite like it anywhere from this roller coaster junkie! You sit in three rows of seven people across. The front row goes to the very top, then the middle below them, then back row to the bottom. The staff say the row doesn't matter because everyone is in the front row. I disagree on another measure: height of your row in the illusion of the sky. I rode twice, bottom then top. I never did the middle. First time I just lined up where I was told. Second time I waited for the front desiring to fly at a higher elevation on the screen. The entire flight is amazing. Really your row of seats is elevated and you are just moving around on the seats in place. However the movements and seating I explained as a matter of "opinion" that I do feel there was a mild difference between vertical row elevations. Also, I feel I am flying more without seeing feet above me, but plenty of distance between rows, its Disney, so sub-optimal is not possible! However, I am the girl that has to ride every roller coaster front row first time. I have to see and have wind in my face. Speaking of wind, just as the Disney shows, this ATTRACTION/RIDE (not show) also uses all the 5 senses Disney has mastered (well perhaps 4 since I don't recall tasting anything). While Soaring over beautiful scenery, you can smell the surroundings, you can feel the breeze, you can enjoy the smooth flight (Like I said, you really are in place and your rows of seats are moving), the video you see is soaring through the sky from a POV perspective gives you an amazing HD like you are there experience of flying smoothly on a glider. This ride is smooth, safe, and comfortable for people of all ages (plus whatever mild warnings, if any, Disney has posted.) I can see a very young child to an elderly adult safely, smoothly enjoying this attraction. A tip of advice that could make you someone who wouldn't enjoy this: Because all three rows of seats rise vertically with each other, and you are soaring in the sky over beautiful scenery, do NOT ride if you are afraid of heights. I love it, but I ride & slide wherever I can try. We all have fears. If yours is heights, this isn't like a roller coaster where you go up and then down. You will be sitting in your ELEVATED seat row viewing an amazing video from a remarkable SKY point-of-view. I tip this, unlike others, thinking ahead with love to readers. Ex: You can tell me of the best haunted house in the world & to me the better the frights to you, the worse the experience for me. This ride is "heights" on two measures. Your seat, AND your point-of-view moving video. Lastly, perhaps motion sickness could be a heads up from watching a moving screen I know some people don't do well with that. However, Soarin' is so smooth I can't imagine, & have never personally heard of anyone vomiting or nauseous from this amazing flight. I just can see heights and motion making this amazement to all, a nightmare to a minority who has an intense fear of heights. If not afraid of heights, DO NOT MISS THIS AT EPCOT! It's an adventure from the sky, SOARIN' around on moving seat like you are gliding in the air. You feel the breeze and smell the land/surroundings of nature itself. It's amazing! This ride is a must-do when going to Epcot/DCA. It's kind of a thrill ride but mostly it's a gentle ride with some turns and dips. The scenery was amazing. I am new to thrill rides and I ended out pretty good, just minor shaking. (Mostly it was how your legs would hang) but here's some tips: 1.If your in the queue, try to download the play Disney app and do the quiz. (Well, I used fastpass+ for Soarin', but anyways) 2. If you don't care about feet hanging in front of you, middle row is good, but if you don't care about the screen being weird, then do the front row. My only problem is you know, the screen being weird. Anyways this is a excellent ride. read more

1. Get a Fast Pass for this ride because it is not worth the long 45min-1hr wait. 2. Sit only in Group 1, NEVER in Groups 2 or 3. Your Soarin adventure is only great in Group 1 because you are highest in the air and you are not sitting under peoples' dangling legs with the feeling of shoes about to fall off onto your head...also one person wasn't wearing shoes, and her bare feet above my face made me sick!. It was the most uncomfortable ride we took whilst being mainly distracted by the reality of other people above us who were enjoying their flight at our expense. My kids refused our Fast Pass Soarin the last night due to our poor previous experience. What was my family's favorite ride is now in the past. read more
