I love a good "IMAX" type ride. This one gives you all of the "feels" where you actually feel like you are soaring in the sky. I enjoy how the ride also lifts you up compared to the rides where you are in an auditorium staying in your seat. That way, you really feel like you are flying. We went on the similar ride in California as well and enjoyed that one too. It also a good ride to relax and get out of the heat, let go of some stress, and enjoy. read more

This is a pretty cool ride if you're not too overly scared of heights. They play a crazy projection at the front of the room while you "soar" over various parts of the world. They'll turn on the fan while you're going through the various landscapes and can even smell the grass when you're out in the safari of Tanzania. The ride tilts forward and backwards, but that's pretty much it. read more

Soaring around the world is located in world nature at Epcot. When I was there last, around the world was not available and has been substituted by soarin over California. The ride simulates hang gliding over different beautiful nature scapes using a huge IMAX dome and subtle pushes and effects to your seating. The ride is inclusive and easy for all ages but may not bode well for those with a fear of heights. The seating is raised for the ride (how high depends what row you are in) and it does move throughout the ride (the movements are gentle). My only gripe on this ride is that you see feet dangling above you if you are not in row 1 but otherwise a fantastic ride. Highly recommended - grandparents and kiddos can ride it alike. read more

This ride is a favorite because you get to sit and relax and enjoy scenery from all over the world. The feeling of hang gliding around Antarctica, Africa, China, etc. is fun. Ever since it first landed in Epcot, Soarin' has been one of the most popular attractions in the park. It's not really surprising to me - Epcot has the least "thrill" rides out of the four parks so you can imagine people flocked to it as soon as it opened. I've ridden Soarin' multiple times and really agree with the the majority - it's one of Epcot's strongest attractions and shouldn't be missed. Soarin' arrived at Epcot in 2005 during the Happiest Celebration on Earth - a time when WDW was adding attractions from other Disney parks around the world. The ride replaced an animatronic stage show called Food Rocks, and also coincided with a major refresh of The Land pavilion as a whole. Soarin' originated at the Disneyland Resort, and initially depicted hang gliding over California but has since been refreshed to show scenes from around the world. This is done via a massive projection screen which takes up pretty much your entire field of vision. In both incarnations, you were taken to beaches, mountains, forests, and cities - with the final scene being Disneyland (in its original form) and Epcot (in its current form). The scenes were augmented by scents being sprayed throughout the room and the hang glider slightly swaying based on the scene you're in. My only critique of Soarin' is as the attraction ages, you can see imperfections on the projection screen - it kind of takes a way from the whole experience. FastPasses are ideal since this is a super popular attraction, but it's well worth it. If you have a fear of heights this may not be the right ride for you, but if you're okay with that then I totally recommend Soarin'. read more

Soarin' is one of those key rides that everyone knows and seemingly loves. Is it a thrill ride? Not really, but an overall enjoyable ride none-the-less. The biggest tips I could provide about this ride is to either get a fast pass for it or ride it closer to the end of the night when most of the park attendees have left. The wait times can be rather long, so make it work for you. If you've never ridden the ride before, basically Soarin' takes you across the globe, literally lifting you into the sky while you're immersed in various countries visually. Oh, and the coolest part to me are the scents. Depending on the scene you'll smell grass and other things which is so cool to me. Like most rides, I don't think it is that long, but dangling mid-air through the world is fun. The end is the scariest part and it brings you back down to "Earth" backwards and can be a little jarring. Overall it's a fun ride. It's good for kids of all ages. read more

Soarin' is a flight motion simulator but it is so much more than that!! It is a beautiful sensory ride and one of my favorites. Get a fast pass if you can! We could not get one, so our wait was about 40-45 minutes and we went mid-to-late morning. The ride is inside "The Land" pavilion. The pavilion is between The Seas with Nemo and Friends and Journey into Imagination with Figment. The ride is on the first floor of the pavilion and can be a little tough to find. The queue does provide some entertainment with a trivia game you can play while waiting in line. But it is a long and winding queue with not much to see. The theme of the ride is hand gliding throughout the world. However, you aren't hand gliding but seat gliding. You strap into your row, put your belongings under your seat, and once the ride starts - you get lifted into the air and come face-to-face with an 80-foot IMAX projection dome. You forget you are on a ride at Disney and become fully immersed in the scenes. You visit landscapes such as the Swiss Alps, Greenland, the Great Wall of China, and more! The scenes are stunning. Not only is the ride visually appealing but you are hit with winds, sounds, and smells depending on where you are in the world. The journey takes you back to Epcot and concludes with a firework show. I would not consider this ride a thrill ride but it such a stunning and unique ride experience that you have to check out! read more

I've grown up with this attraction, first Soarin' over California and then Soarin' Around the World (the current iteration). It is genuinely such a beautiful ride, with breathtaking views of famous places around our planet. Soarin was the first of its kind in simulators back when it opened, and the technology used is still impressive today. The thing that sticks with me the most from the ride is its musical score, which I make a point to listen to fairly often because it's so striking. My family has always loved the pre-show for this attraction as well, which is shown as you're waiting to load into your simulator room. Patrick, the chief flight attendant who delivers safety instructions, makes for some memorable quotes, and distracts from the waiting time to make it go by quickly. This ride was awesome. I did use fast pass, but I'd say it's worth the wait. You "soar" through the different countries that are presented at Epcot in a interactive ride. It's not a ride ride as you are just sitting above a screen, but you are moving...or are you??? I did take my flip flops off as you are floating above the ground. The one thing I remember about this ride specially is being able to smell the grass while "in" Africa. The views of each county are amazing. Soarin' places you in a seat that elevates in front of a large screen and takes you "flying" over water, mountains, etc. The ride is made interactive with fans and smells related to the images. We have an IMAX movie theater at our local science center and riding Soarin' is like being inside one of those movies. This ride may not do well for people that get motion sickness but it doesn't create any odd pressure (like Mission Space) on your body. I also appreciate that you don't have to wear 3D glasses. Honestly if you want to do a tour flight or whatever they're called, this isn't that good of one. Most of the flight is just waiting to get to your various locations. The actual places are cool, such as Paris and the Great Wall of China, but what isn't cool is the strange safety mechanisms. You get on a plane that has seat belts, a pouch for bags, and no other safety stuff. You don't get walls, even! Not to mention you fly over all the world. You can go to Sidney and Fiji and China, but that is assuming you don't fall out of the plane. The flight plan is also kinda absurd. You go from India to America, then eventually to France only to go back to America. You started this trip going over the Matterhorn, why didn't you knock Paris off the list then and there? Oh and ALSO you need to remember that you get very close to the locations despite this flying over the whole world. You are supposed to fly over the ocean and all that yet you almost crash into balloons and kites. Did I mention the logistics of this tour? You fly over some places where you almost touch the tallest points and others you almost poke the sea. The flight is so long that it takes multiple days as evidenced by it being night when you return to Florida, where you took off from. I would not be shocked if this whole tour is close to being banned from happening. You're going to a ton of places and almost destroy a few of them, the absurd amount of jet fuel used probably contributes a weeks worth of carbon emissions, and you might be in danger. One final issue is that the plane flies INTO FIREWORKS at the end but we were close to the hanger so... TLDR this is a dangerous flight that probably has to collaborate with Disney or something to avoid the legal fees and property damage I probably need to clarify that this review was made in jest and is not to be taken seriously read more

AMAZING RIDE. Worth any time in line for the experience (well, I couldn't wait 5 hours to go on a 3-4 minute ride). Thankfully we had a fast pass so we only waited about 45 minutes. Not just the best ride at Epcot... it may be the best at Disney! Make sure to get to the park early so you can get one of the few "fast passes" available. We got there at 10:30am on a Wednesday and they were all gone for the day! When we got in line, the sign said 45min wait time. The ride itself feels almost like you're paragliding across the USA and is complete with chairs that subtly lift you up, smells that puff out, and blowing air that makes you truly feel like you're flying. The music on this ride is SO beautiful that my sister sometimes just listens to it while she works. It's a very joyful and freeing ride, but again, the line will be super long. I recommend getting a fast pass for this one beforehand. The line forms inside the building, so at least there's no heat and you can sit on the ground if it's not moving. Soarin is unquestionably the linchpin of all things that are great at Epcot a.k.a. the experimental city of tomorrow located within the 42 mi.² area also known as the Walt Disney World resort Orlando Florida. This particular attraction was highly anticipated and much much appreciated for the addition to future world in Epcot. Originally Soarin' was only available to see in California so Disney fanatics awaited it with much anticipation. For a Disney ride, it's five stars all the way. That's in comparison not only to Disney attractions but also take it in the greater scope of overall major theme park attractions, this is not to include state fairs or other ghetto fabulous events where one may have the pleasure of seeing the spin doctors or maybe sugar Ray live in concert. Forgive me for I digress... The "old soarin" was made for and focused on California. after a little time down for a refurbishment and change the ride/show to Soarin' Around the World". Now we go on a journey to amazing locations but I won't spoil it for you! Don't forget about the quick serve cornucopia of selections. The food is decent /. It bad. The prices are disney so order some extra kids meals ;-) The ride is stellar. But I tell ya what. Is never wait for 80-90-100 minutes to ride this. It's pretty much if we get a fast pass for it we go but if not we don't. We do have annual passes but even so is highly suggest scheduling it because the standby line moves at a snails pace!! read more

Soarin' is such an amazing experience! As far as rides go, it isn't long, fast, or too exiting. It's a rather serene and relaxing sight seeing tour of the best vistas out there. The most stressful part of it all, is the waiting in line if you don't have a fast pass. After the long winding hallways to get to the center of it all, you come in into a room with a series of glider like seats. As the ride starts, you are brought forward and up, so your feel like you are suspended in the air. It feels so real. You really feel like you are gliding through mountains, deserts, over the ocean, and even some cities. You feel free. Even thought you know this is a virtual tour of the world, it's still so immersing. When we came to the point where we were in the middle of fireworks, my heart fluttered with joy. It is a very cool feeling. I highly recommend Soarin' read more

I really really really enjoyed this ride. A lot. It's simple and easy on the back/neck/whatever and would be good for folks of all ages to enjoy from children all the way up to grandparents. I used my FastPass for it but probably you don't really need to if you wait and come during the middle or end of the day - would be a 20 minute wait or so. I love the soaring feeling of the ride which actually does move you up several feet and closer to the large rounded edge screen so you feel that you are immersed in the images - we saw Antarctica with polar bears diving in frozen water, hot air balloons in the desert, waterfalls, the Eiffel tower in Paris glittering at night and a few other scenes. There was one scene in particular with elephants in the safari and they seemed to pump some sort of grassy air through the fans blowing on us - was a pretty neat touch. Really enjoyed it. Not for thrill seekers - but fun and easy to enjoy. Very visually stimulating. read more

My only complaint is I wish it were longer. It's exhilarating to strap into a "flying" contraption and swoop over some of the most majestic landmarks in the world; places we might never get to see in person. Disney not only brings the sights and sounds, but some of the smells as well. And the result is a fun, fascinating trip around the globe. Many people will compare this ride to Avatar: Flight of Passage. The technology used is really where the similarities end. Avatar takes the concept of Soarin' and heads in an entirely new direction. Soarin' may not be as thrilling, but its intent is to be, in my opinion, more whimsical, whereas Avatar is fantastical. You don't get to ride a flying dinosaur, sure. But when are you going to fly just above the Antarctic Ocean or the Great Wall of China? I would love to see them expand the ride at some point and add more landmarks. Definitely get a fast pass for this one, as it's extremely popular. read more

Soarin' can easily be described as one of the most beloved rides in Epcot. Since it is very popular, the wait for this ride can be pretty long most days. While I do love the ride also, it's not one that I could wait forever for. If you haven't ridden Soarin' before though, you absolutely must the next time you are in this park! The theme of the ride is that you are flying over the world, and seeing all of the big and beautiful spots that you can find in different countries. Some sights you may see are the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and so on. It is such a magical feeling to get so see so many wonders of the Earth, and makes you realize how much the world has to offer. The ride can be for just about anyone, and is very gentle. Even though some seats do go pretty high up, it's very hard to tell when you're actually on the ride. Soarin' will definitely be one of those rides that will stay around for a while, and I'm glad that it will. read more

This ride is an absolute must! It was one of my favorite attractions of Disney World! Joe K had read the Yelp reviews and determined that since it was so popular, we would head straight to "The Land" section of Epcot Center as soon as we got through the entrance. We still got a little lost trying to find it, but as luck would have it, we had little wait time as we beat most of the crowds during our early morning start. When you enter the theater, you are escorted to rows of seats where you proceed to strap yourself in. All belongs must be secured in a netted compartment below your seat. When everyone is ready, the lights go dim and the rows of seats lift upward until each row is above the other. The wide screen envelopes you as you become part of the greatest illusion ever! Complete with surround sound, smell & feel-o-vision, it's like hang gliding around the world without leaving the safety of your theater seat. As we traveled to many scenic countries of the earth, over amazing landscapes, seascapes and city scapes, I could feel the subtle winds, mists from the clouds and fog, water sprinkles from ocean waves and rain, the light scents of green grass and flowers. The feeling of soaring through the skies pretty much sums up the name of this ride, as we had close calls flying high and low over buildings, mountains, and rough seas. I have never hang glided, went on a balloon ride or sky dived. I can definitely say that I never will! But the "Soarin" ride will be the closest thing I will ever happily and safely want to experience! I was at Epcot for a friend's birthday, and one of the things we had done was to setup group fastpasses for everyone so that we could all go on some of the same rides together as a group. One of those rides was Soarin, and in this case it was a good idea to have done so. It was a fairly busy summer day, and by the looks of the line for Living with the Land, it seemed like the stand-by line for Soarin would have been horrendous. Really, I have only seen half hour or more long lines for the boat ride a handful of times. So Fastpass was definitely the way to go. We got through the line pretty quick and got lined up for our session. We got lucky and got the center section, middle row for this showing, which was pretty cool. I was also glad to see that Patrick Warburton's briefing hasn't been changed... Having the voice of Ian from "Open Season" brief us was wonderful. Filing in we all took our seats, waited for everyone else to get seated, then had to wait a bit longer because one of the seats in the front/bottom row was not acting right. It was good to see that the cast members took it seriously and made sure that the safety light for that seat played nice, which in turn meant that the person in that seat was buckled in properly. Now, it has been a while since I have been on this ride... and since the last time they have changed it over to the International version of the trip instead of across California, so it was like a first time thing for me all over again. This will be my favorite ride at Disney! No seat is a bad seat. Your are strapped in a row of chairs and it lifts you up to a large dome screen. The screen is so large you can not see the edges of the screen which makes it so realistic. It moves with the scenery which consist mainly of nature such as glaziers , mountains and deserts. If I am not mistaken I even smelled grass when the ride soared over some elephants running through the land. It was amazing!!! The feelings you experience feel so life like and amazing. You forget you are on a ride. My kids LOVED this ride as well. Even though they were suspended in the air no one was scared , not even my 6 yr old. I highly recommend you ride this !! I can't believe I have yet to review Soarin because it's only my FAVORITE attraction at Epcot!! Disney plays music during the "flight" but I always pull up one of my favorite tunes on my IPod, put in my ear buds and let myself get lost in the experience of all that is Soarin! There are countless other reviews which explain the particulars of the attraction, so I won't bore you by explaining again. Try to get in section B in row 1, if you can; this will give you the best vantage point (front and center). If you request this, the Cast Members generally try to accommodate. This is a great ride. Soarin always had a lengthy wait of nearly two hours each time we tried to check it out. Once the park closed and it was time for the extra magic hours, the wait dropped to 45 minutes and it actually took that long to get through the line. Once through we were seated in a long row of flight chairs and away we went. the chairs were raised and we sat, feet dangling, in front of a giant screen. The show does give the sensation of flight and yes, i did lift my feet so I didn't hit the trees. I highly recommend this ride. I do not think it is worth a two hour wait though. I have been on this ride many times. Two things that stand out to me. The initial ooohs and aaahs at the very beginning of the ride and how often the people applaud at the end. That is the kind of emotion that I expect a great Disney ride to bring out - mission accomplished. The updated video resolution makes the ride more immersive but the abrupt scene changes can sometimes be a bit startling. This is a must ride for EPCOT. I have ridden this often both before and after COVID. It is located in the Land pavilion at EPCOT. GO early as it is a very popular ride and fills up early. It is one of the best rides in the whole park. There is a long walk down the concourse to get to the ride but it is low stress and very enjoyable. You are seated in three rows of chairs about 10 chairs wide. They have added dividers for covid spacing both in the waiting areas and in between the seats. You sit down, buckle in and then the seat move so that the row 1 is at the top, row 2 is in the midle and row 3 is at the bottom facing a large screen. Your feet are dangling and you are transported to various places across the world that are absolutely beautiful and breathtaking. Once complete, the seat return to the ground and you exit. It is a wonderful must-see ride for anyone wanting a pleasant experience. read more

I've been on Soarin' a million billion times but I think the best time was when I took my 65 year old mother on it for the first time. She's scared of heights so was worried about that aspect, but I knew she would be absolutely taken with the smells and experience of flying over all these amazing places --- and she totally was. Seeing the reaction of someone riding Soarin' for the first time is just so much fun! The technology behind this ride is just awesome and I'm so glad they brought it to Disney World from Disneyland! They originally brought it over in 2005 when they brought attractions from various parks to celebrate a Disneyversary. I'm so glad it stayed and has become a staple of Epcot! I don't want to spoil the ride for you, but my personal favorite part is flying over Napa!!! Ahhhh, the grape smell! I love it! Though it's a great ride, I suggest scheduling your FastPass in advance for this one and not waiting hours in line. Though if you absolutely must, the queue does have some fun things while you're waiting. read more
