Hired this family owned business to paint walls and ceilings - approx 900 sq ft of my 1100 sq ft home. David was quick to reply to my call and came out the next day to give a quote. We got quotes from 3 companies and David's came in the lowest by a substantial amount. They were able to start the day after thanksgiving and even came out thanksgiving morning to get paint swatches from us. On that note, David was very knowledgeable on what color and finish would be best. Best part is that Sam, Dan, and their team finished the entire house in less than 1 day!! They did a walk through after to ensure everything met our expectations, and also said we could call if we noticed something later and that they would come back out and do a touch up at no cost. David and Ash and Ariel were amazing. First off, I had narrowed down an accent wall to 2 colors and the one he helped me choose turned out to be the best color in the house. They did 3 bathrooms which are now a breathe of fresh air. So vibrant and beautiful. Their work is clean, fast, and they are super nice to have on the job. Its a family run business and you feel that from the first meeting. I had hired David and SoCal to do my dining room and brighten up the old wood from an ugly dark spray on paint with lacquer to a swiss coffee on the wood walls and beams. Even added a touch of blue to the ceiling. I added on the staircase, pocket doors, railings and posts due to how amazing the dining room turned out. It is very hard to find good people in a big city where work is aplenty. These guys are great! They will paint more of my house in the years to come and eventually the exterior. I should have left this review many months ago. We hired SoCal Painters to paint our first home about eight years ago. We felt like they did a good job. We mostly worked with David, and his brother a bit. Then we hired them/David again last December to paint our current home. I appreciated how they did their best to work within our schedule and get the house completed prior to our move-in date. However, they 100% brought in their C-Team to do the job. To this day I am constantly finding messy paint work around our house. The original paint color of the interior walls was a light green. We decided to paint over all of that with a neutral white/light gray color. I am constantly finding visible green paint throughout our house that the painters missed. I also often see several large areas where I can faintly see the green underneath the new color. It is evident that they only did one coat on many of the walls, Especially areas under and next to windows, wall corners, etc., where they didn't think it would be as noticeable to do a sloppy job. I actually mentioned to David after the job was completed that it didn't look like they had done two coats. David claimed that the reason it didn't look very good is because I had selected Benjamin Moore paint. He claimed that Benjamin Moore pain isn't as good as Behr paint (which they're able to get at a discount), and Benjamin Moore paint typically requires three coats because they make it so thin. If that's not a load of BS I don't know what is. And please note, if prior to the start of the project he had told me that Benjamin Moore paint won't be thick enough to cover the existing green color, I probably would have chosen to hire a different painter. He was just coming up with an excuse after the fact for their poor work. Additionally, on the day that they completed the job, I came over to give final approval and payment. It was very stressful for me because I saw sooo many mistakes. It's a 1500 square-foot house, and we spent an hour of me walking around pointing out all of the obvious mistakes and having them fix it in front of me. There were far too many mistakes for me to be able to catch that day at 5PM will their whole crew packing up their trucks and getting ready to leave. Especially with the lighting not very good since it was evening. Btw- for both of our closet interiors that were updated and had removable shelves- did they easily remove the shelves before painting the walls behind them? No. The geniuses were lazy enough to leave the shelves in place and paint the walls areas in between the shelves, and got paint all over the new white shelves. They did this about five minutes before they finished the job because the paint was still very wet. I had to ask them to repaint the closets 2x because they kept doing a terrible job. And- even after removing all the shelves and correctly painting the walls- they immediately put the shelves back, and because all the shelf edges touch the walls it ruined their paint job and got paint on the shelves again! And last but not least, as the project went on he kept adding more charges to the job and claimed that those things weren't in the original scope. So in the end, I don't think they were that much cheaper than other well-known companies. I should have left this review 10 months ago, but I just found yet another wall next to a window in my son's room where I could see a lot of green showing through in several places (we had the room painted Gray) and I just about lost it. I'm sick of having to touch-up their shoddy work on a weekly basis. :-/ It's disappointing how many companies there are that hire unqualified subcontractors to do their work. read more

They also removed ugly popcorn ceilings. They painted everything we wanted at a fair price. I say if you need a big job done do it with licensed painters because they did it right. Just put it this way you get what you pay for yea you could go with people that are not licensed but if they screw something up then you end up paying more to get it done right! They did the whole inside of our house in 5 days and they helped me pick out colors which is nice sometimes you need another opinion. I highly recommend them. I called SoCal at 8am on Monday morning. David and his dad were at my house in less than a half an hour! They provided me with what I thought was a fair estimate. I let them know that I would be getting 2 more estimates as well. I don't accept contractors based solely on price, believe me, I go by their reviews and how they present themselves when we meet, and how they explain the work will be performed. SoCal did end up being the lowest bidder at the end anyway. They were held up on another job for a few days which delayed mine but David kept in Amazing contact with me about everything! (Communication is gigantic to me). They were going to paint my back outdoor porch(wooden) and do some stucco/paint work on my exterior as well. Ash came and did the entire job himself which I thought was amazing! He did a wonderful job painting the ol wooden/lattice porch! I had a few areas of concern but these guys handled it in a timely and professional way!! We immediately set up an appointment for him to come take a look at our house and provide us with an estimate. David then fell seriously ill-- but that didn't stop him from following up each day of his illness to reschedule and try some workarounds so he wouldn't get us sick either.
