The bartender does an amazing job that very few in my experience have been able to do, which is blend the drink to where it is not just 90% alcohol and 10% whatever else. This allows you to really experience the drink and its fancy little name. Food: Entree - Godzilla: This was recommended by my waiter at the time because it was the first time ever that I have tried sushi and I was not disappointed. This dish was sooooo delicious. Dessert - Churro Cheesecake: What can I say? It's cheesecake and churros. Not a big fan of sweets, but I do love me a good cheesecake. Service: 5 / 5 - No complaints. Waiter was very attentive and made sure to check in periodically. He was very passionate about his job and provided strong recommendations with his opinion on the choices when asked. When he found out that this was my first time having sushi, he took the time to explain how the menu works, which I have horrible memory, but appreciate deeply. Wouldn't mind having him as a regular waiter in the future. Vibe: 4 / 5 - Restaurant and food presentation is very pretty, clean and aim to provide you with that "fancy restaurant" experience, that so many people have come to expect. It's a very chill vibe and lighting is not bad at all. Overall: 4 / 5 - Normally, I have a rule that I don't have ocean related dishes in an area where the ocean is not readily accessible. However, an acquaintance once said, "you have to have several mid dishes before you enjoy a really good dish" and she was right. Although, I wouldn't call social house mid. We had a reservation for 615 we showed up at six. Our Reservation in the Resy app was for a booth and they had two booths available, but the front desk stated that they were for a table of five. So they couldn't sit us there. Later on we saw that they sat two people at the booth. So as a Resy member and Amex Platinum holder, I was a little pissed because this was our first time visiting Pittsburgh. The food was good. The server was nice. Not a lot of vegetarian options here. The edamame wasn't bad, and I liked the quantity of it. The sushi was okay, but I've had better, for cheaper, at the grocery store. The pad Thai wasn't bad either, but I didn't really taste the peanuts. For the quality of the food here, I can easily say that this restaurant is overpriced. When walking inside you can tell it's nicely decorated, so you'll expect to pay a lot, but the quality of the food doesn't match the ambiance at all. Drinks weren't bad but still fairly overpriced. I had a nice time here... i was going to a show and my friend bailed so I just went to the bar for some snacks and it was really nice. The spritz was really good, the edamame was on point (I ate it all!) and I had a spicy tuna roll which was good. I had to go digging for the meat, it felt like the chef chewed up the short rib and sneezed out whatever was left in his mouth. My boyfriend got the Bi Bam Bap and I actually gagged it was so bad. A friend chose Social House Seven as the restaurant to host her birthday dinner. We made a reservation in advance for a large party, 10+, and were seated quickly upon arrival. Our waitress was friendly and did her best to check in on us, despite the high volume of customers at the restaurant. I ordered the pad thai and my boyfriend ordered one of the sushi rolls. I heard some mixed reviews on the dishes around our table, but I loved my plate. My only complaint was that it was about $17 with no meat added. It was delicious, though, and I was pleasantly surprised at the volume of edamame that bumped up the protein for me a little. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with sculptures, dim and colorful lighting, and plenty of tables. The bathroom was much the same, clean and organized. For large parties, gratuity seemed to have been added in advance, even though we were all able to split the bill and pay as couples or individually. This wasn't clear to some of our group members who inadvertently double tipped and weren't too happy about it. Our favorites were the Fire Dragon Chicken, the Lettuce Wraps, and our MVP was the Broccoli Classy, yet an emphasis on shareables making it a beautiful, down to earth experience. Perfect for date nights or impressing visiting family & friends. Criticisms: The pork belly skewers were fatty. But the parts with meat were lovely. Final update: went last night with a group of friends. This is the last time I will ever go here and steer friends away. The service was so horrible and if the food was amazing/outstanding I could forgive bad service. The waitress took the orders and then forgot to get orders from half of the table we had to chase her down to put them in. Social House Seven might be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in all of Pittsburgh. And that's not hyperbole. When you approach a price tag of $100 / person, you really should get a whole lot more. First let's say every item we ordered was bad. Really bad. Sushi / maki - super fishy, and had the integrity of something rolled by a toddler. The broccoli - pre-made frozen mush that went into a fryer The shrimp - overcooked to tire-like texture, and it was never de-veined. The tofu - about the only thing on the menu that tasted half-way decent, but all the vegetable garnish around it was RAW. Like raw brussell sprouts. WTH? And the Yaki wasn't yaki soba at all. It was more like lo mein, AND the noodles were cut. That might just be a big deal to me, but it really is disappointing because it tells me they were probably dried noodles rather than fresh. And then there's the service. Our waitress started out ok, but when it was clear 80% of the food on our table was untouched, she didn't once ask what happened or ask why we didn't eat it. She just brought the check and never cleared the table. I had to ask her to clear the table so we could at least enjoy our sake. She was absolutely oblivious and had zero interest in actually understanding what was on the menu when we asked for recommendations. Or maybe, she already knew the food was going to be terrible and has been trained not to say anything. Really just a super disappointing experience. It took another 30 minutes to actually get water and drinks put in, and who knows how long for the drinks to actually come out. I know the times because we were all so bored waiting. It wasn't even a busy night. Food was not bad, but I've had a lot better. The Brussels sprouts were DELICIOUS, and my friends enjoyed their pad Thai and wagyu. I got the vegetarian ramen and it had not an ounce of flavor. Totally disappointing, because I've had some amazing vegetarian ramen in my life. I ended up here with a group of colleagues after our original plans fell through. I had no idea what to expect and walking over a koi pond at the entrance was not on my bingo card, so that was fun. Our group of six was seated fairly quickly. The waiter was friendly and explained that the menu items come from different stations and are generally meant to be shared (the 'social' in their name). We each ordered individually given that we were on a work trip and it worked out just fine. I had the vegetarian roll--it was reasonably priced and standard quality. The pork belly skewers were almost cold. The Asian slaw was good. Could've used more miso bbq. The bang bang shrimp was good. The shrimp very large and with four of the. Enough for some entrees. The Singapore Black Pepper Chicken tasted like pepper. That's it. The 'e sauce' I had no idea what it was nor did I taste it. The pepper petals were one thin slice of green pepper and red pepper. The rice was filling and helped cut the pepper. My girlfriend's yaki was the better of the entrees. Although it wasn't a large amount but was enough for my plus one. It was flavorful. The death by chocolate cake was good. The chocolate ganache was sweet and the cake moist. For a restaurant week menu it was not that special or inspired . I'll stick with the main menu items when I go back. I've had better meals here before and hope this was just a hiccup. I was here for my birthday 6 years ago and again this year. It has changed a good deal it seems. In September this year for my birthday, they were very short staffed and working with only two waitresses and was very difficult to deal with as had a planned event after. Regardless our waitress was amazing, helpful and very sweet. My friends and I had a great time. My meal was extremely salty and I couldn't eat it but they did deduct it. The decor was great and definitely Instagram worthy for those who like taking photos. For food, we ordered sushi, firecracker shrimp, and spicy edamame. Before heading to a show at the Benedum, we made reservations here for dinner. It is very conveniently located just a block down from the theater. The entranceway is very unique with a fish tank in the flooring with fish swimming around. The decor of this place is perfect and beautifully done. We were greeted promptly and taken to our seats. We ordered our beers and sadly, both my husband and I chose beers that they are currently out of. I always feel it would be nice if they would let you know if there's items on the menu not available. We ordered the chicken egg rolls for an app, which was good and then ordered a few rolls for dinner before the show. We did have to wait almost an hour for the rolls, which thankfully we made our reservation with more than enough time to get to the show. One thing they didn't do and I like at downtown restaurants is when they create small talk and ask what your plans are so they know if you are there more for a relaxing night out or if there's somewhere you need to be. The server said she would check on our rolls and then the manager I presume said he would as well. They came out shortly after so I'm not sure what held them up. The rolls were great! The price points in the menu are very comparable to other places for sushi. They have a full menu as well, but we didn't want to stuff ourselves before the show. We did appreciate how attentive the manager was and had a good eye on who was waiting to touch by at the tables. I've been to social house seven a few times for drinks but this was my first time doing dinner. First and foremost, I love the atmosphere here. I'm a sucker for a dimly lit trendy place and this fits the bill. From the underground aquarium when you walk in to the oversized Asian art and Instagram backdrops, it's a vibe. The food is really quite decent, too. This is not the incredible and authentic asian food you're going to find in a neighborhood like squirrel hill, but it's tasty for downtown. We started with the spicy tuna roll and gyoza, both were pretty good. I then had the Godzilla roll which is pictured. It had a lot of flavor and a lot going on (including an unexpected seaweed salad on top). I enjoyed it but I didn't love the jumbled mess it was presented as, personally. My boyfriend had some ramen which he enjoyed, but it did have pickles which was a little odd. I tried the lychee martini to drink which was delicious. Middle of the road sushi, great atmosphere and great service. This review is solely for the sushi. They have an expansive menu but if you are going for only sushi I would find another location. The fish was fresh but the rolls were mainly rice and contained very little fish. They also have very few rolls that focus on the fish and are mainly cream cheese or tempura shrimp. In addition to all the rice they are sauce heavy. Like drowning in sauce. Their choices of fish are also very limited. I'm not sure why you can't get tuna sashimi, but you can only get it seared. In short, this wouldn't be a place I would come for sushi. But the rest of the menu looks great. So maybe come for the other options, great service and great atmosphere. read more

We had all just flown in and checked into our hotels and were looking for a good place to eat. Our of our group had been here before and recommended the place. This place blew me out of the water. First and foremost KAY WAS INCREDIBLE!! hardest working person I've seen in such a long time. She worked her tail off from the moment we stepped in the door till the time we left. Her drinks were delicious, and she was great conversation. She got our food out to us super fast and all of her co workers were super helpful and removing plates and empty cups faster than we could finish them. The vibe in here is so modern. There are cherry blossom trees everywhere, but also beautiful mural work by Chris Galiyas. The food was AMAZING. We will totally be back here. I felt like we grazed on basically the whole menu! The whole dinner flowed perfectly, we had sushi, wagu robata, carpaccio (both kinds, lol) and the tuna tataki. We also got the bi bim bap as our starter to share and it was so good. Matt said he wanted to be buried in it, so it's gotta be good. Everything we had here was top notch. The service was beyond what we could ever have imagined, the food was incredible, and Kay was unforgettable. Social House Seven is a cute place to have food and drinks. They have good spots to take pictures. It's a little pricey for the portions though. The veggie stir fry noodle was pretty good, but when i came in December it was better. My boyfriend got the Mexican roll when we came in December and I thought it was so good, but this time it tasted like nothing. I decided to get the tempura shrimp roll and it wasn't bad, but I've had better other places. We also got egg rolls (not pictured) and it was too much roll and not enough taste in the filling. The outer shell was really thick and overpowered the taste of what was inside. I'd you're in the mood for sushi/Asian food for dinner id honestly recommend going somewhere else. But if you just want to get some drinks and snacks, social house seven has a good atmosphere for that. read more
