Sat at the bar to try some non hibachi options. Ordered the Dinosaur egg because I've had a similar dish and liked it at Jade Grill (mount Lebanon) . The dinosaur egg at ichiban is kinda like a cold crab salad cake because there is some tempura crunch in it, wrapped in avocado slices. If you don't like spicy, just get the spicy mayo topping on the side. It is also topped with eel sauce which is like a sweet thicker teriyaki. I love that combination of sauces on almost any sushi and with the avocado and crab salad it was delicious mixed together. Paradise roll is the most filling sushi roll I've ever tasted. Very mild especially with the nearly tasteless soy wrapper. I like rolls with a little crunch so I went with this one because it has tempura shrimp in the center. Got the steamed shrimp Shumai too which are pretty standard. Bartender Michael made me a tropical ruby (rum- banana, coconut, cranberry, pineapple) and a frozen Pina colada. I'm usually a corpse revivor or vesper martini person so these were sweeter than I normally go but not overly sweet. Decided to try a new Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse. Went to the Ichiban in Robinson Township, PA. I must say I was disappointed. Went there for lunch, they don't have a lunch menu or maybe it was because we went on a Saturday. I ordered Filet mignon and Shrimp for my meal. I asked for my steak to be rare, and it was medium, my shrimp was so overcooked it was difficult to chew. I wasn't impressed with the fried rice either. The chef and waitress were pleasant and the waitress took care of our needs. The restaurant was set up with hibachi tables and looked like your typical Japanese Hibachi place. I don't think I'll return based on the fact that my food was subpar and because it was over cooked, it was basically inedible and I wasted $48 for my meal. I took the leftovers home, my husband took a bite of shrimp and spit it out, thank God my cat didn't mind over cooked food. read more

Emperor's deluxe hibachi + geisha to drink Meal specs: Lobster, filet, scallops, and shrimp. Instead of rice I get a double order of noodles. This experience was not good. It's all about the chef. Ours seemed experienced. Apparently, the grill was too hot. The noodles immediately stuck to it when he first put them on. There was a lot of scraping of stuck noodles off the grill. When it came time to eat the noodles they were limp & lack luster. I love noodles. Which is why I get 2 orders. I hardly ate any. That results continued with the rest of the meal. Drink specs: Great! On October 8, 2025, I walked into the Ichiban restaurant out Waterworks in Aspinwall. The restaurant had just opened for business. I ordered the steak, chicken, and shrimp hibachi meal with a side of noodles. The young lady, who was trainin that day, took my order. She said it would be 45 minute, I was willing to wait. The food was ready no more than 4-5 minutes and the same young lady brought me the bag of food. (I later found out that the food is supposed to prepared when your order is take. And it is supposed to be prepared fresh the meat was supposed to be from fresh RAW MEAT) I knew something wasn't right because it was done too quickly. I should have questioned her about the food. I was thinking ok, maybe they started preparing food before ppl even ordered, maybe this is how they do it here, maybe it's pre-cooked to some degree. But even with those reasons I thought, something was off there. The bag was warm so I knew the food was warm at least. When I got home and opened the bag the three of the sauces I ordered weren't in the bag. The soup was strange looking (I was afraid to eat it), the salad was wilted lettuce no extra vegetables in it. The steak was not medium well, I order it was well done, and the meal was too salty. I ate some of it and tossed it. The meal was $42. I called the restaurant the next day to speak with a manager. The young lady said that he was busy and I explained to her why I wanted to speak to him regarding the meal. She told me that she had taken notes and would give him the message; I left my number with her. Well, Nick, that's his name, he is the general manager there, never returned my call. I called back the day after that and a young lady, with an attitude, told me he wasn't there and would be there the next day which is today, Friday. When I asked for her name that's when the attitude came through. She got huffy and asked why I needed her name because she wasn't there that day before so basically she felt there was no reason for me to know her name. I didn't understand why she was became combative with me especially since (as she said) she wasn't there the day before. I told her I asked for her name so that I could say who I had spoken with when I talked to Nick, the manager. She refused to tell me her name so I said that I would call the next day. Today, I had my son call to see if Nick would get on the phone. The young lady said he was in a meeting. Of course you are Nick. I have read other reviews regarding this Nick, the manager, and apparently he has a reputation for disregarding customer complaints and phone calls. I don't want anything from them, I just wanted to speak to him about my experience. Well that will be the last time I order or eat there. Nick, the manager shame on you, you're clearly unprofessional and dismissive of your customers. Get it together Ichiban! We made reservations 30 min before arriving. As hibachi is a group event, we were seated with a party of 4 adults, 2 young children, and an infant. The grandparents, parents, and grandchildren were celebrating two February birthdays. The oldest child repeatedly reached for the hot grill. The grandparents were overwhelmed by corraling the children. The parents' focus were on the baby. Needless to say, the chaos didn't improve the experience. Since we arrived after the other party, the waitress rushed to catch us up to them. We ordered seaweed salad, miso soup, lobster roll, filet with chicken hibachi, and filet with scallops. The salad dressing on the iceberg lettuce salad was awful. I wonder how food allergies are handled. The same spatula transferred raw food, cooked, and served all the food. I have been to other hibachi places in the past that were much more of an experience than this one. The chef was also a little rude to one of the ladies at the table when she asked for two soups instead of the salad, he said that this request needed to be made at the beginning of the dinner rather than after it was served. My husband and I chose this restaurant for Easter Sunday dinner. We have not been here for about 6 months and I was excited to enjoy another yummy meal here. We were seated on one end of a hibachi table with another couple across from us. A third couple arrived and immediately took the two center chairs on the long side of the table so that a 4th couple could not be seated with us. Smart move on their part and it benefitted us since he had his phone in hand from the time they arrived. I ordered green tea and for the first time I got tea that was strangely an odd shade of tea. It tasted odd also so I switched to iced tea. Our soup and salad were delivered and - as usual, they served the salad bowl full of very wet lettuce with a blop of dressing on top (obviously prepared well in advance) and the soup tasted like warm water with a few veggie strips floating in it. I never salt any food and I salted my soup 3 times trying to enhance the taste but it did not improve. When I told the waitress about it she offered to bring more soup, but I suggested she tell the cook to taste his food before sending it out to patrons. Why would I want a replacement bowl of watered down soup? Very disappointing, for sure. When our chef arrived he distributed yum yum sauce to everyone but did not bring the second sauce that they normally offer. I never cared for it so that was fine with me but I was surprised that it was not offered - maybe no one really liked it so they got rid of it. The food was cooked very, very quickly - more so than ever previously. He did not stack the onion and set it on fire, maybe because we had no kids at our table, but I looked at the table across from us and they did not have kids and yet he did the entire "show". My husband and I both asked for medium steak and another man asked for his well done. Unfortunately, we ended up with fairly well done steak, which was pretty chewy and definitely disappointing. The chef had the food all cooked and distributed in less than 20 minutes, which felt really rushed. As always, the staff is very pleasant, but this company is so focused on rushing through as many people as possible in as little time as possible for the biggest bill they can charge. Exactly what you expect when you go to get it. The portions are so massive you'll have leftovers for days. I really like the filet and chicken (pro tip: try the kids filet when ordering take-out - it's a lot cheaper and still a huge portion). The 'show' was a bit different than pre-covid days. The chef interacted a bit less with us, but that didn't bother me - I'm there for the food. However, it was my 3-year-old's first hibachi experience and she was enthralled. As for safety - all of the employees were wearing masks, and our group was placed a few seats away from the next group. Yum, The sushi is super fresh and affordable - they have a nice variety as well, would definetly recommend the sushi appetizer. All of the meats that they serve with the hibachi appeared to be of very high quality - the noodles could be a bit more flavorful but the fried rice is good and I also like the vegetables - the broccoli, mushrooms and carrots - that come with it as well. Sushi was 5 stars. I can't rate any other parts of their menu. The spicy tuna roll is the best I've ever had. From what I can tell, the secret is tempura crunchies on the inside.
