He offered to grab brews from the other side for us - sold. Happy hour offered bogo Pints and $5 bites, even without the passport. (5) We grabbed a $5 Pretzel with beer cheese (5) $5 Taquitos, 2 cut in half to make 4 (3) The $7 (free with BOGO) Nitro Porter was delish The $7 IPA was solid as well, personally the hubs. Nice surprise was our waitress brought homemade chips to the table as a greeting (like tortilla chips at Mexican restaurant). Food was ok. Prices good for value. Stopped in for a Sunday evening refresher after a trip to Idaho City. The Good: The atmosphere is casual and open. Dropping the other part of the building wa a good idea. I wanted to love this place since it's their new location, but wasn't disappointed with the food. It's a sports bar type of ambiance that's family-friendly and has plentiful indoor seating. There's also a 21+ area to the left of the restaurant where you can drink and play mini golf. I came here with a party of 4 on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty dead. There were probably 3 or 4 other customers here. Our waiter was attentive, friendly, and fast so shout-out to him! The food, on the other hand, was left to be desired. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff and it was lackluster. It was bland and beige - it needed more salt and throwing on some chopped parsley or herbs would've helped. I didn't love or hate this place. We went for music bingo, and the space itself was kind of awkward and crowded when the rest of the restaurant was empty. So if you're considering that, keep it in mind! Food-wise, I would have loved some more menu variety. Obviously the big thing is salmon everything, but the menu felt sort of limited. I got the salmon BLT, which was fine. The fries are definitely good! If you enjoy beer and salmon, go here. But there are other pub-type places I liked better. read more

I hosted a surprise party for my husband here, and used the rotunda room. It was a perfect space for a large group, and they were so accommodating with setting up early, decorations and cake etc. We ordered pitchers and appetizers, and both were excellent! The staff was attentive without being annoying, and were very patient with kids messes. I highly recommend this as an event location! read more

Hard to rate a place when we only sat at the bar and had beer and a side order of fries, so to be fair I'm giving Sockeye full marks because what we had was terrific. We had draft beers, both of which were really, really good, and the descriptions in the drinks menu were thorough enough that we were able to choose what we liked. The fries -- seriously, if you order nothing else, get the fries -- were out of this world. How can fries be so good? I'm not kidding: go there and try them. Service was remarkably good, given how busy the place was. Prices were quite a bit too high, in my opinion, but I suppose they were based on the venue's popularity. Caveat: This restaurant was BUSY. I'm talking inordinately packed and noisy, as though they were giving away food or something. Which they decidedly were not (see note on prices, above). Called ahead to verify closing time, arrived at 7:20p on a Thursday evening was told by the FOUR young chatty girls (standing around doing nothing) at the front counter that they couldn't serve us because the kitchen was closing "soon". The girl in the red (see photo below) said "there's a 40 min wait and the kitchen is about to close but your welcome to go to the golf and bar side to sit there because there's a different menu". (FYI, there was NO ONE waiting and a ton of visibly open tables - and servers running around all over!) We take TWO steps over and see a sign that says "no children after five in the golf area"... So the hostess clearly lied about my family being "welcome" over there. (Because she saw me walk in with my two young kids). I turn around to head out of the restaurant and see a couple walk through the doors, and she seats them right away! I sat for a moment to watch and she seats ANOTHER small family WITH a child as well. So then we go back up to the counter and she says "okay I think we can seat you too but it'll be about 20 minutes." REALLY?? So you seat all these people and then make my family wait? She really did make us wait too. I'm not from the area - we were in town visiting and we're looking forward to the golf experience and some good food but definitely won't be back here again! Beautiful location and ambiance. Beer isn't bad, food is ok, service is lacking. I ordered the Spicy chicken sandwich. It was a good piece of chicken but it didn't have any spice because it only had a sliver of 'Spicy slaw' and a dollop of sriracha mayo. It was a generous sized piece of fried chicken breast in between two pieces of bread. I would have asked for more mayo because the sandwich was as dry as the Mojave dessert but considering how our server never brought my beer to the table, I didn't think we'd be seeing any more mayo anytime soon. I figured they were busy so it didn't bother me to go to the bar to grab my beer. I was the only person at the bar but the bartenders were busy. I waited patiently for a bit and didn't get any acknowledgment that they'd be with me at any point. It didn't bother me as they were making drinks for the restaurant. I was holding my daughter and she started to get heavy and bored so I sat her on the bar seat as we were literally the only customers at the bar. The second I sat her down, the bartender barked at me 'she can't sit there'. I know she's not supposed to sit there but the delivery and comment irritated me. This is your first acknowledgement that we were there and you sound like a Doberman defending his home. I know she's not supposed to be there but that's not the point. At least the beer was only $5.50. There are so many good restaurants and bars in Boise but this is not one of them. We will not be going back. The hamburgers (Alehouse Burger and Pork Belly Burger) were not good (overcooked and flavorless) and the Reuben (sparse kraut and sauce and dry) was just okay. Came for brunch last Sunday. It started at 10 am and we came right after they opened. There were not many people there as I think many people don't know they serve brunch. They had an excellent brunch menu and I am gluten free and they easily accommodated me. Homer was our server and he was informative, cheerful and timely. I got the smoked salmon Benedict and my husband got the biscuits and gravy. Both were delicious but my husband said his was the best biscuits and gravy he has ever had. They have a full bar so I had a Bloody Mary which was very good, not too spicy. As we were leaving we checked out their putting green. It was in a completely separate room with another bar. We went to have dinner here and have nothing but awesome things to say. The food was wonderful, I had beef stroganoff, my husband had the risotto. Both were very tasty. The service was very good. When we were ready to leave we decided to take some porter home and the server (redhead, sorry didn't get her name) was very, very helpful She recommended the Midnight Cuvée, we decided to get a bottle when Chaz came to the front spot check in things and then talked very positively about it. Having been in the restaurant industry, I was impressed with the positive way he handled the employees and also how professional he was with them and me as a customer. I asked him if he was the GM and he said he wasn't. He should be. If you are ever in need of a general manager look no further. He would be a professional worth having. read more

We were a crowd of 11 to celebrate a birthday and the service was just terrific. we were waited on quickly and receied our meals as soon as they were ready. The alehouse fries that came with our meals were terrific. They were more like a cross of a deliciously ctisp chip and soft potato slice!! I don't like fries in general but these are jjust great! ! We have been coming to the "new" location semi-regularly since it opened and have noticed a slow decline in food quality from the beginning. On my last visit I ordered the Market Salad. I've ordered this before and greatly enjoyed it, so I was a little shocked at what showed up to my table. Instead of Kalamata olives there were sliced black olives, like the ones from a can. Instead of fingerling potates there was a sliced, boiled Yukon. Instead of fiddle heads there were stringy bean pods. The salmon portion was small and overcooked, too. It was a late lunch and it was slow, so I don't believe a busy kitchen was the culprit. Very disappointing visit with my family and in-laws. read more
