I went to Sandbar around 3 PM on June 14th, and I want to give a huge shoutout to the manager on duty. He asked three very drunk guys to leave after they were being inappropriate and touching their waitress. He handled the situation like a champ. I was honestly about ready to get up and say something myself because of how uncomfortable and unsafe they were making her feel. High five to that manager for stepping in and doing the right thing. And to our waitress, Merideth -- you handled yourself with so much grace and strength. I am so sorry those guys made you feel afraid while you were just trying to do your job. Nobody should have to deal with that at work. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and able to enjoy your shift without being harassed. What started as three guys having a good time turned into full-on drunken, disrespectful behavior. Six shots of tequila in an hour is no excuse for treating people that way. They were from Oklahoma, Alabama area, i assume here for work purposes. To these 3 guys.. this is not how you treat a lady! Was in town for a weekend tennis tournament- came here with a part of 12. They don't take reservations but on a Thursday evening they were quick to get us in. The misters made sitting outside super enjoyable- the live music was a great atmosphere. They were nice enough to provide the separate checks we requested. Food was solid - wasn't anything overly special but it was good, drinks were delivered in a timely fashion, and the overall vibe and space was perfect. read more

Yikes, the sandbar is the type of place you wish you could love, but it just ends up missing the mark. The location off of the greenbelt is amazing and can't be beat. Truly I go just to sit by the river, the location feels like it's only redeeming quality. The service can be spotty and a bit slow, the food is pretty average but leans towards bad. The menu is also a random hodgepodge of almost Asian seemingly inspired dishes and then traditionally American items like chicken fingers. I admire how creative they try to be with their drink menu however, the cocktails all taste watered down. I don't know what it is about this bar maybe it's the bartenders maybe it's the kitchen staff I just don't know. They have such a great space and they have such a great potential to be really good but instead it's just a mid to below average experience. I know what you're thinking. The summer salad probably looks really good in the photo, but it was just average at best felt like a salad. I could make myself at home. And the Apperal spritz just tasted bad... This place is still somewhere I frequent just because the location truly is phenomenal, but that is the only good thing about it. read more

We stopped here on a Friday afternoon after riding bikes along the Greenbelt. It's a great outdoor space and they had a really good acoustic guitar player entertaining us while we had lunch. We came on a Wednesday afternoon. The seating was outside. They had a rock and roll band that was very entertaining.I was thankful for our waiter who kept our water glasses full. The Mint Condition was really refreshing. A tad bit sweet. We shared the Tapas and the Pulled Pork French Fries. The two apps were a good light dinner for the four of us girls. Live jazz at night on the patio? Sign me up! This is behind the Riverside hotel on the Greenbelt. On Saturday the hotel pool was poppin', the beer was flowing and the jazz was solid. We had some unmemorable food and learned how Idaho law allows for 3.90 per hour for servers, and no paid breaks or lunch. Tip your servers people, this ain't California! read more

Atmosphere and service were 5/5, but the food is a big miss. I ordered steak fingers and the description read just like chicken fried steak - but it was fried as you would fry fish and chips instead. The fry flavoring with the steak didn't work and the steak was so tough I couldn't even bite it in two. Big bummer. read more

I ordered the brisket tacos and was in shock for the lack of meat in the taco's. Basically it was 15.00 dollars for one taco. So, ordered the same again and they were a little better. The food was delicious. The down side is service Saturday evening was below subpar. Server seemed to be over seated or unable to handle her section. Also I ended up getting a refill on a soft drink didn't really look at the glass since it was a dark soda. But once I took a few drinks to expose the rim of the cup there was lipstick all over it. The ambiance is amazing, except outside music (solo musician) needs to turn down the volume. Way too loud and annoying. Food... was so-so. We had a mix of items from the menu, which included "fresh made" fries according to the waitress (Tina). But when our plates arrived it looked like we were being served crumbs from the bottom of the bag. See photos. Everything tasted good, but the kitchen needs to step up their game on presentation. WARNING: the food quality here has PLUMMETED. I've enjoyed meals at Sandbar over a dozen times. My favorite dish by far was the brisket sandwich. ($18) Unfortunately it is NOT the same dish anymore, it seems like the quality of all their ingredients has diminished drastically. The bun seemed like a cheap Costco bun, and was stale and cold, the brisket was a bunch of small, chopped up, chewy, dryish, chunks. It's been about a year since I was last there, so I'm having trouble remembering what else made the dish so great before, but whatever it was, it is 100% missing now. Oh yeah! The horseradish aioli was such a great aspect of this dish! It was either missing or just negligible and bland. But worst of all, we also ordered the Boise River Burger (a $14 burger), it came with the same dry, stale, cold, "brioche" bun (it was NOT a brioche). And between that crappy bun was a tiny, shriveled, dry, meat puck, a piddly slice of tomato about the dimensions of a 50¢ coin, and wilted smudge of lettuce that tasted rotten. Literally nothing else... I asked if they had accidentally brought the kids burger. No, that was actually the burger. Embarrassing. Regretfully, I did not take any photos, but I can assure you the food looked NOTHING like the pictures on here. And unfortunately, I will not be going back to give them another chance. There are way too many nice restaurants in boise to waste my time here again. read more

Served by Taylor I had a hazy tropic IPA at the bar (Sand Bar) and a fruit platter ... yeah fruit and it was fresh. Th Sand Bar is Hidden along the Bosie River and the Boise bike path which makes it a little hidden gem perched in front of a large willow tree, with water sparkles from the river between the branches.... The food was good, but it was very over-salted. We opted for the Fiesta Stadium Nachos with brisket, the Caprese skewers, and the Kobe Brisket sandwich. The brisket in the two dishes was tender and pull-apart-delicate. The nachos were good as a shareable, but it tasted like generic ingredients. I mean, the chips and cheese would probably be the same stuff you would find at the stadium. The brisket sandwich had a good amount of meat and cheese on it, but again, this was so over-salted. The bun was a dry and I needed to saturate it with the au-jus to help get it down. The Caprese skewers were cold and refreshing. The balsamic glaze was well balanced and didn't overpower the subtleness of the mozzarella cheese. read more

i am just being honest... great location, sucky restaurant. it's all outdoor at a rundown hotel right at the river. the river part is nice. they have NO misters, no fans for the customers, only mesh covering overhead. the waitresses were super nice. the food wasn't great. my daughter got the brisket sandwich, tasted the brisket and said no way. not flavored enough. she sent it back. The sweet potato fries were pretty good however the seasoning they add to them was very overpowering, still good but very salty. my burger had a jalapeño jelly on it. That was a no go. I thought it might be spicy with a little sweet but it was way too sweet. it was all over the top of the burger so i scraped that off and didn't eat the top bun since the sweetness soaked into it. it was $22 for this meal. No way worth it. we would not come again. read more

We enjoyed the live music while we ate, then strolled along the River afterwards which was very enjoyable & would be the reason I go back or recommend to others. This place is really nice I was excited to come here! The staff is really nice too! I was hoping for a bigger menu! It was pretty disappointing since the food and desert i wanted they were out of. No Banana Beach Browned Butter Cake!!! I ended up eating the Epic Grilled Cheese. Some of the stuff on the menu looks yummy maybe just had a busy day and ran out of everything.
