I came in here to get a little after lunch treat and got the Latifeh and a strawberry saffron frozen yogurt swirl. The saffron frozen yogurt was so good! Rose-flavored pastries and drinks can be hit or miss, but Sofreh truly masters them with delicate, balanced floral notes. Their pastries are on the pricier side, yet the flavors are very refined. The cafe itself is cozy and clean with plenty of seats. ＊Piroski Khamei (Rose Custard Doughnut) $8 Weekend only, with a limited batch of around 50 per day. It was filled with a light and fragrant custard infused with rose water. The floral notes balanced beautifully with the pillowy dough, and paired especially well with their chai. Cake Yazdi Cardamom Cake $8 The cardamom cake had the perfect amount of spice, and the rose, vanilla, and white chocolate whipped cream on top was so delicious I couldn't resist savoring every last bit. I really enjoyed it, though I wished there was some cream in the center for an even moister texture. ＊Pistachio Kadaifi $6 A crunchy and delicate dessert made with fine strands of kadaifi pastry, filled with a sticky crushed pistachio center. There was a subtle hint of lemon and rose flavors. Sofreh Cafe is near my job and I've become very fond of it. It's very sleek in design yet traditional in its impact. When you walk into the bathroom or take notice of the art all around, you'll see the Persian touches. I tried their rose custard donut, piroshki khamei, that is only available on the weekends and I loved it. That tiny little donut filled with a rose cream is such a delight. It's light in texture and fluffy when you're holding it. Nasim told me it's a childhood classic for her. Something that they had by the movies in Iran. I also tried their piroshki goosht, shirmal shirin (milk bread), pistachio shirmal, and sambuseh (samosas). I personally loved it all. I love Filipino bakeries that most because they always have sweet and savory pastries. So it's really hard for me to fall in love with a different culture's bakery. But Sofreh has changed the game up for me. I'm a fan of it all here, including their house made black tea. Sofreh Cafe is a lovely spot to grab a sweet treat and enjoy a cup of tea. It's a very nice, modern Persian cafe. The pastries all look very delicious. I ordered the Yazdi cake, which was a cardamom cake made with rose and vanilla bean. It was refreshing and not overly sweet. I thought it paired very well with the chai I ordered. The chai served there is Persian black tea. I also ordered the Tahini Date Banana Bread. The banana bread was good, but I thought it was overpowered by the caramel sauce and sesame seeds on top. I couldn't really taste anything but the caramel. There are options to get a more savory meal with green salad, which is good to note for lunch! Also, this place has moments where it gets jam-packed, and I do get the sense that it is a bit understaffed. It was a little disorganized when I visited, so it was a little tricky when it came to placing orders and forming a line, but overall, the staff was very friendly and attentive! read more

I fell in love with Sofreh Cafe attending a Yelp Elite event a few years back at the original location in Bushwick. Talk about an experience; getting to learn about Bushwick and then Persian food. Elites were entitled to complimentary Cardamom tea and Ka'ak bread with whipped feta and Yadzi cupcake. Of course I took home barbari bread, banana bread and baklava. The place was warm and cozy with extended farmhouse tables and pendant lighting. Then it closed due to a new restaurant opening* I've passed this Prospect Heights location numerous times and today was the day to step inside for Cardamom tea and a treat to take home. The space is warm, lovely and inviting and the employee who took my order was extremely friendly. I decided to order the Black Iranian tea which does contain rose petals, cardamom and cinnamon and a piece of barbari bread. I sat down and drank the tea, still delicious as I remember from the original location. The menu also contains the Yadzi cupcake, banana bread, and Piroski. I'm very impressed and know this will be another favorite to visit on Bergen Street. *Eyval took over that space and what was wonderful about attending that Yelp Event was getting a personal invitation to the opening of Eyval. Good place to have some delicious pastries and chat. I adored the cardamom cake, really delicate flavors. We split the latifeh and kadaifi, very unconventional and subtle flavors and textures. All quite sweet but not too overwhelming for someone without a sweet tooth, I would maybe balance it out with a savory pastry next time. The barista recommended a hot drink with them, and the saffron herbal tea was the perfect complement. There was no wi-fi, so more of a hanging out spot than a work spot. Nice to people watch from inside as well. I want to try the weekend-only rose doughnuts as well! It's definitely one of the most solid cafe options in the area, lots of seating as well. Cute, clean cafe. Came here on recommendation of the owners who also own Sofreh, the nearby restaurant. That restaurant is by far one of our favourite places to eat, but this cafe falls short. The prices are nearly double what they should be for the quality served, some items a touch on the stale side. Have hopes they adjust as it used to be better. Everything was just slightly unusual but absolutely delicious!!! Walking around Park Slope and came upon Sofreh Cafe, a bakery cafe with Persian specialties. A small, but beautifully modern bright space, their selection of baked goods was artisan looking and sparked my interest to try them - however I was shocked at the high prices for some of the items given their size, e.g., the Piroshki Gosht, a small fist-sized pie filled with beef, raisins and cumin that went for $12. Just looking for a snack, opted for Sofreh Cafe's $8 Tahini Date Banana Bread topped with salted caramel and sesame seeds. Wow! A real treat! It was absolutely sublime! Recommend Sofreh Cafe for a special date or meeting, but given the pricey nature for the size wouldn't be a regular for many of these items... even if I normally came to this neighborhood. That being said, look forward to trying out their elegant Latifeh sandwich cookie with rose cream and salted pistachios, the Maleke Badoom Queen of almond pastries with honey, and Bereshtook roasted chickpea flour donuts with Valrhona White Chocolate. read more

I got a piroski -- it had feta and spinach and it was to die for. This might be my new favorite spot. I love the vibes so so much. Reminded me of Iran. Parking is tough but that's all of NY. Very expensive prices for the quantity and size of the desserts, and the first dessert I bought (toot) tasted exactly like soap. I really like Sofreh the restaurant, but boy is this place a hard miss. What you see below in the picture - the banana bread and the "sour cherry" cooler -costs $19 after tip. The cooler has basically no taste at all- a slightly sweet finish but no trace of sour or cherry. The banana bread is perfectly fine, but considering the price, you'd think they might offer a more generous slice. Unfortunately this has become a trend in Prospect Heights- expensive cafes offering below average fare. Major let down. After trying the amazing Sofreh restaurant, the owner recommended to try their cafe. I was craving their saffron ice cream so I went to check it out to see if they had it. Upon entering, the cafe was disorganized, dirty, and understaffed. They sadly had no ice cream on their menu which was a sad shock cause I consider it to be a staple. It felt like no one was managing the place. Thankfully, I got their Latifeh instead which was delicious. The rose water and pistachio flavours were truly amazing and rich. All their pastries for that matter looked tasty. Although, the baklava didn't need the chocolate.. Personally, I'll stick to their incredible restaurant. I wouldn't go back unless their management changed and cafe was cleaner. If you visit the cafe, get their Latifeh to go. read more

So happy they're back in a nice new sunny space, I literally planned my weekend out to make sure to visit. It's so wonderful to be able to go and grab a pastry, or savory snack that is homemade and I am so happy to have a place where I can bring friends to introduce them to the food and to have a place of representation for my culture. Persian food in general takes a lot to make, all those tiny cookies are hand done (I make them too) and everything looked perfect in the cases. I had the koo koo and it was authentic with barberries. There was even halim for the adventurous eaters. The only think I would say was that the tea was a bit less robust than I usually like it, as I am used to having it at a ruby red color and this one was a bit more orange. I will gladly go back however and probably frequent when I am in the area. I am excited to try their sharbat next. read more
