    Horrible packing
    Amy Z.

I placed an order on Uber eats to wait 2hrs before the food came. Once the food arrived the packing was horrible my butter chicken was spilling everywhere the paper bag was ripped. The butter chicken had no taste it was just sour and extremely spicy. Then to find a long black hair in my butter chicken. They also forgot my samosa. This will be the last time I order from this restaurant again. It used to be my favorite Indian place to go to but now had too many bad experiences not sure what changed. Save the headache and order at a different Indian restaurant

Hello no What Indian spot has mixed grill and doesn't give any rice with it or anything not even a cover over the food. I don't recommend this place at all. TANDOOR RESTAURANT would never give this presentation or lack of a meal. I sent this to my lady too. NEVER AGAIN

Chicken biryani that was sent when goat biryani was ordered. Staff claims they sent Goat Biryani
    Anju A.

Absolutely horrible!! Ordered 2 goat biryani and other dishes through seamless but received 2 chicken biryani instead. I reached out to seamless where I originally placed my order and they adjusted my payment due to the inconvenience caused by the restaurant. About 6 hours later i get a call from the restaurant and was screamed and yelled at. I was accused of lying and called a free loader by this man, he said he sent out 2 goat biryani and that i " ONLY WANTED FREE FOOD". And hung up on me. Luckily i still had both orders left, so i called the restaurant and asked for someone's cellphone number to send a picture of their ridiculous food. It turns out it was chicken after all! Wow!!! I guess the staff in there doesn't know the difference between chicken and goat. Turns out the man on the phone was actually the "owners brother". Very unprofessional. They should be grateful to be receiving customers during this pandemic but instead are using profanity at customers because they send out the wrong orders. They lost a customer for sure!

I've been ordering from this Indian restaurant for years and let me tell you, it's one of the best in ozone park, queens. I've had everything from their chicken makhani, butter chicken, paired with jasmine rice and/or garlic naan. The flavors are out of this world and will have you coming back time after time. My favorite dish are their biryani. All the herbs and spices combined with either chicken, lamb, or meat of your choice is jam packed with flavor. I usually get the medium spice level which is good enough to enjoy and not overpowering the flavor of the biryani itself. They have some delicious desserts too such as rasmali, gulab jamoon, kheer (sweet rice) which are also delicious. Their samosas are delicious as an appetizer too. If you're looking for amazing and authentic Indian cuisine, you should definitely without a doubt check out this restaurant.

    Tandoori Naan

I don't recommend at all. Placed an order on door dash, waited two hours for delivery. When received all the naan was burnt and the even sent naan saying it was roti, I also ordered mild food and gotten spicy.

receipt showing my request for extra tamarind sauce and no mint sauce

How difficult is it to follow instructions? If the instructions say "EXTRA EXTRA tamarind sauce" and "I do not need any other sauces (e.g. mint), only tamarind, but give a LOT of tamarind" what do you think these things mean? Well, to this restaurant, it means do the opposite and give a full mini cup of mint sauce and 1/3 of a mini cup of tamarind sauce. Great. My search for a decent Indian restaurant unfortunately continues.

Bombay Grill is one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the city. The food is gently spiced and not greasy. The last time I checked, they had an excellent health department grade. It was a challenge to find that plus an affordable lunch special. One of my other favorite Indian restaurants has had several issues with the NYC health department. The Yelp app is very helpful - it lists the health department grade after the ratings. Bombay Grill also makes excellent curries. I prefer those over the usual chicken tikka masala - although that's always good. If you order lunch, the lunch box has more variety but less of the main course. So if you want just one main dish, it's better to go without a box lunch option and just choose a standard lunch deal.

Taking over for another desi-owned spot (#1) several years ago, they've done a much better job of capturing an audience by focusing on a niche of Goan inspired foods, along with a slew of classic Indian dishes that span from north to south. The interior is modest and quaint, and a one bright / memorable outdoor setup during the pandemic. The restaurant is not big, but they've managed to cram in a good number of tables to make it place for 30 folks. Takeout and delivery are also very popular, and I've been fortunate to have had all of the above. Some immediate standouts: goan fish curry, xacuti curry, and the caldeen curry are quite excellent and all come from the Indo-Portuguese side of the menu, which are all loaded with flavor. Additionally, the tandoori selection (especially the chicken malai, seekh kebab, and methi salmon) and variety of curries (rogan josh, korma, jalfrezi, makhani, etc.) are also very flavorful. As with many other Indian places, especially ones that cater to the southern palate, there is an excellent vegetarian selection. The saag chana is one of my go-tos, but the peeli dal, bhindi masala, gobi manchurian over their lemon or tomato rice all merit a big thumbs up. Ownership has likely changed since their initial start, which explains why the staff and "family owned" management has all gotten different looks before and after the pandemic. The other major issue has been pricing, which definitely feels premium at $21-23, for portions that sometimes feels like the size of a hockey puck. The product is still good and the pickins in Sunnyside (#2) are slim, so I realize that for some people, this is the only (Indian) game in town. ___________ (#1) Biriyani House: https://www.yelp.com/biz/biriyani-house-sunnyside (#2) Unless of course, we're counting all the Nepalese spots that also serve Indian cuisine.
