This place cuts against the grain on the typical offerings of Phoenixville and that is a fantastic thing. We need something different that is also delicious and Soko checks both of those boxes. They are currently on a limited menu but they crush it. The fried chicken is done masterfully: juicy and crispy while the sauces at offer are great. My favorite is the gochujang! The restaurant is small but has a great vibe and the bar has a good offering. Though what truly makes this place special is Shea, the owner. You can tell he is proud of what he has built and he comes off as a great person. When we told him it was our first time in, he passionately explained the place's story and how they make their chicken, which was wholesome. And when I told Shea the chicken tasted great he came in for a hug. He is a person you just want to root for and this is a restaurant you want to root for. We are from Reading and we were in Phoenixville this afternoon and decided to stop for lunch. Walked in and , a man who I presume to be an owner/manager greeted us, we told him it was our first time here and he went thru the menu and everything worked and he took our order. We decided on a Seoul Train combo (he threw us a 4th 'on the house' sauce for free since it was our first time). We went with the aged white cheddar and bamboo salt options for chicken, and gochujang, kimchi aioli, cucumber wasabi and cannonball (a BBQ) for our sauces. We grabbed a seat, and before any time went buy a woman is bringing out our order. I don't know if they're always this fast, or if they started making it a little bit ahead because Penn State was about to kick off, but either way the speed of service was fantastic. The kimchi fries - I mean, it's awesome waffle fries with an aioli drizzle and kimchi layered in there. I love kimchi and this really hit the spot. The portion size was also huge. The chicken... first of all the crunch is outstanding. It's the perfect consistency. It's not too crispy where it crunches like a chip, but it's not that "soft" batter a lot of places have with their fried chicken that it just kind of sloughs off. It stuck to the chicken, had a good bit of crunch, and was super flavorful. The bamboo salt chicken was perfect. If I was going to knock this place at all, it would be the "snow chicken" aka aged white cheddar powdered chicken. It honestly tasted fine, and we ate all but one piece of it, but, it just didn't' mesh with the sauces very well, and the cheddar had a weird mouthfeel because of how crunchy the chicken is, it .... It was almost like eating Doritos and getting that last piece at the bottom which has ALL the flavoring on it... tastes fine, but has a weird powdery mouthfeel. That being said, the snow chicken was delicious. If you come here you should try it, but I wouldn't get JUST that. Come with some friends and that way everyone can share. I'm sure someone out there absolutely loves this one, it just wasn't one we would order again. Glad to have tried it, would not get it again, we commented that we wish we would have ordered the sesame or ghost pepper one after we ate the first piece. The sauces were awesome. The Gochujang was sweet and tangy/spicy, the kimchi aioli was the winner of the day for us, giving that kimchi funk with the aioli smoothness, the cannonball was just a really good BBQ, but that Cucumber Wasabi... I don't know if was really good for the chicken, but some sushi place should use it on a roll, it had that spicy wasabi bite and then the cucumber cooled you down. We had a hazy and west coast IPA as well, both were tasty, nothing to travel here for, but way better than we expected for a. "House" beer. As i said, we live in Reading, I can see making this trip quite frequently if we are heading towards Douglassville en route to Hidden River. Prices were fair for the portion size, food was fantastic, and service was top notch. Highly recommended. read more

We had the boneless wings. Apparently they were out of the jumbo wings. Not quite what I expected. We ordered the 1 lbs. It was like 8 hunks of chicken (4 per sauce). Looked a bit underwhelming in presentation. But if you cut each piece up it's like 4 boneless pieces per hunk. Again a bit thrown off by that. Was still tasty. Had the fries. They were fine. It was me and my son. Plenty food for 2. Price was $$, so not bad. More than $20s, less than $50. Sauces were good. Thru in a freebee sauce, a nice touch. Excellent service! They allowed me in with my small Chi dog (8 lbs, sat in her box at the table). Not sure that's typically allowed but I appreciate them immensely for allowing her to come in. I'd still call to confirm bc that might have been a 1-off. Gentleman from thr back checked in on us a few times as with other patrons to make sure we were OK. I'd go back. My son goes all the time. As I walked into the building of Soko Bag I was automatically put into the headspace of a philly sports player, with the smell of the chicken lingering overhead. We were met with the friendly presence of the lady that was working the front counter(goat btw). We ordered the Seoul train, and were pleasantly surprised by what we were given....pure excellence. The chicken was the perfect amount of crispy, cutting almost instantly. Although this is my first experience with Korean Fried Chicken, I can genuinely say nothing else is going to top this. Holy moly. I knew it was going to be good but this knocked my socks off. I got the honey soy garlic and the 5 star sesame. Both would've been good by themselves, the 5 star has some heat to it, beware, but then I dipped into the sauces. Wow! The kimchi aioli was delicious. It was good on the fries, which were crispy waffle fries, it was good on the bulgogi eggrolls, which were just as good without any sauce, and of course it was good on the chicken. I also got the gochujang and the Bleu cheese sauces and they were equally as good. The chicken was even still crispy after my 15 minute drive back to KoP. This place is a MUST when you're in Phoenixville. The chicken is everything. We ordered the bamboo salt chicken with Kimchi aioli and went home with our taste buds craving more! The service is amazing and they are so kind. The restaurant itself is an unassuming little building on the corner of Main st and Nutt road but once you go in, it's actually very spacious with lots of comfy seating and even a bar. They have an excellent selection of beer and some delicious cocktails as well, that are perfect for the warm weather. They are also a Philadelphia Union Sports bar with several crystal clear TVs to watch all your favorite teams. I am really bummed they don't have a location in Austin! Hopefully soon! read more

This place was exactly as advertised in all the right ways. It's fast casual dining with a limited menu since the place is just getting started. Their beer offerings are plentiful and the chicken is deliciously juicy. I had read about the chicken being mainly dark meat and wondered how that would work being breaded and fried as it's normally the fattier meat already, but it was so good. My boyfriend and I got the Seoul Train to split and it was more than enough for the two of us. The Snow Chicken was super tasty, and definitely a surprise because I'd never seen it done before. We also got Soko Bag's "The Hazy IPA" and "Session IPA" and both hit the spot. You'll have to excuse the pictures because by the time I remembered to take them we'd already almost finished. We'll definitely be back here again as the menu expands. If they do all the food like they do the chicken and beer it's gonna be a go-to pretty quick. read more

On an impluse I stopped to check out Soko Bag. I had no expectations. I have never had Korean Fried Chicken. This is real small family business with a store build by their hand. A real startup that cannot fail. This "startup" is going to go through the roof! This is the best fried chicken I have ever had! Crispy bite sized pieces with Korean inspired dipping sauces. However, when I inquired about all flats, the male in the back referred to it as 'stupid shit.' Apparently unlike other places that will either say no or up charge, if you ask here it's not only no but it's 'stupid shit.' I didn't appreciate that much. Overall enjoyable experience eating here. Good place to grab a beer and casual eats. Came for lunch on a Friday. The service was friendly and the food was good. One thing to note is the interpretation of "Korean fried chicken" the chicken is boneless, not wings and does not come coated in a sauce, only as a dip side. The chicken was pretty quickly served, which was surprising since at other KFC restaurants it'll be 15-20 minutes to double fry. The chicken itself had a light crisp to it. Wouldn't describe it as that Big Crunch you get with double fried chicken, but satisfying enough. My major qualms are with their menu. Will have to revisit when they're more settled. On their social media they post about food ideas they have made, but when you go to the restaurant your only option is the standard fried chicken (bamboo salt) or the aged white cheddar (snow chicken). Which is fine, just confusing--and the only place I saw the menu was on their website, if you were to go off of their instagram you would be misled about their offerings. Additionally, there seem to be no sides. No yummy carbs to accompany your chicken, in the future I would really like to see some expansion/variety in this respect as well. read more

First got wings for takeout about a year ago and they were fantastic. Got the Seoul Train for takeout this weekend and it was sub par. That might be the difference between bone-in and boneless, but I was disappointed after my first experience. And for the record I always prefer my chicken boned. The sauces are good. No complaints there. Parking is awful, but that's not a knock on the restaurant; that's just Phoenixville for you. I hope they improve and move down to Bridge Street because we need more options. Service was also good. I'm hopeful for Soko Bag and for more Korean food in the area, but competition is stiff in Phoenixville and 360 Chicken in KOP isn't that far away... read more

A great place for a quick bite and a beer. The food prep is super fast and piping hot. The sauces are tasty and they keep making new ones.

Great add to the Phoenixville area and especially nice to have it so close to the hospital. Limited menu but the chicken I did get was 5*. Very friendly owner. Personally, I like bone-in so hopefully they add that in the future but I still appreciate what they are doing. Will be back for sure. read more
