Okay let's start by saying this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the world. Jalepeno quesadilla, I dream about you. Huge margarita, I dream about you. I have never seen more than maybe 10 tables total in the restaurant which usually isn't a problem. This last time we went, we sat feeling abandoned and ignored for 20 minutes by our waiter. We flagged down someone (the nice woman who brings the chips to the table) and asked her to grab him and that was the only way we got someone to come help. Everyone is so nice so I feel awful saying it's bad because truly I'd go back again and again just to keep eating their quesadilla, but just maybe don't sit in the bar because they seem to forget about you over there... love it anyway tho five stars for how good the food is . read more

We decided to have Mexican food on Tuesday, so we came here. First of all, I ordered a michelada. Normally, the waiter asks what kind of beer you'd like for the drink, right? She did ask, and I said Corona. However, they ended up bringing an extra bottle of Corona and charged me $20 for the drink--and it tasted like water. I also ordered a steak taco and a carnitas taco with no onions or cilantro. The chef added a handful of both anyway. The waitress apologized and said she'd fix it. After waiting a bit, she brought me a lengua taco instead. I told her that wasn't carnitas, but she insisted it was. At that point, I gave up and told her not to bother. I don't eat lengua, so it went untouched. I'll include the receipt and a picture of the "carnitas taco" so you can see for yourself. On top of that, they charged $6.50 for what was basically two tablespoons of hot salsa . Very bad service. I won't be coming back and would not recommend this place read more

The waiter was spot on! His timing and service were fabulous. The menu has good variety and all three meals were delicious!

Paid about $120 for me and my family to eat and had hair in my food and had food with no seasoning on steak in a chimichanga and fat and gristle on chicken that was in a order of enchilada! not to mention rice was terrible! Cebolla's has better quality and a little bit cheaper for anyone wanting a better place! Don't recommend wasting your money! Called and made my concerns known a guy named Fernando was a bit rude from the start but eventually met some of my concerns! read more

We ordered 2 fresh Margaritas at the bar and the lady brought us three and made us pay for the third one. It was okay. If someone told me that's where we were having dinner, I'd go. But I don't think I'd ever choose it again myself. I think last night was our waiter's first night working there. He took our order without writing it down. He forgot a couple things and had to come back twice to ask us questions about our order. I'd love to give this place a better review because I think it has massive potential. The same goes for their other For Wayne location. There's goods and bads about Jalapeños, so here's my take on it. Hands down best margaritas I've had in the area. All food is nice and fresh, and we'll presented. The chips & salsa don't suck, but their not my favorite either. I feel like there's too much pepper taste in it for my liking. There's definitely a unique flavor to the food here that's a bit different from "traditional" Mexican restaurants here in the Midwest, which isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you have an open mind. My borrito was excellent while the wife's salad was meh at best. Granted she ordered it without the protein, but it definitely could have been better. They're chipotle sauce is on point and the menu is versatile with lots of the usual Mexican choices and a good handful of unique dishes. Ambiance is standard and the staff is attentive but not exactly "bubbly". I'll definitely return and hope to upgrade my rating in the future. read more

I am thinking the food standards have decreased since they first opened. I think the salsa is not as good. The rice is not as good. The beans are not as good. The biggest change for me was the entree. I ordered something new, but I am thinking I would have like it better when they first opened. I ordered the Carne Asada. It is meant to be placed in a tortilla, but the steak came uncut. The jalapeño, as well, was also uncut. Besides having to cut my meal to put it in the tortilla, the meat seasoning was not great and was also thought to cut and eat. I could have made a better meal at home. read more

This was our first time eating at Jalapenos Mexican Grill today for lunch. The restaurant was clean and had a good atmosphere. As well the employees were all nice, greeting us as we walked through the door. The food that we got was all good, and piping hot. However, if I had to choose the best meal out of the three we choose for today. It would definitely be the birria tacos! While the ambiance/atmosphere was good overall the service and quality of food was sub-par. The waitress had to come back to our table 3 times to clarify what we ordered. Then when husband and I received our "taco salads" without the crispy bowl (as ordered) the "salad" component was missing! When I see 'salad' in the title of a food item I do expect there to be some "salad". Not according to them. They simply throw a few sprigs on it and call it a salad. I was told this is how they do it and the manager (?) was reluctant to bring out more salad for us to put on it. They also refused to change out french fries on a burrito order for something else. Why do they even serve french fries as a side????? Overall, I was totally NOT impressed with this establishment and totally will not be recommending it to anyone. I will never eat here again disgusted tamale dry could not cut with a fork the guacamole no flavor just mashed avocado the taco no flavor the enchilada smothered in mole sauce nasty the Margarita was good after I had my glass not drenched in sugar just very disappointed. Well, that was the worst Mexican food I've had in Fort Wayne. What a waste of money. I ordered the Chiles poblanos and my husband ordered the chicken chimichanga. The Chiles poblanos peppers are breaded and fried, however these were barely fried and mushy...just gross! Also, they had chunks of cheese, the kind that doesn't melt and has absolutely no flavor whatsoever. There was no cheese on top, just lukewarm tomato sauce. Just nasty! The rice was cold and flavorless. The shredded chicken in the chimichanga was watery and flavorless. The service was lacking as well. Our waitress seems annoyed from the moment she walked up to us. My family and I went here on Mother's Day and got all the chips we wanted to eat, we returned a week later and now you get the first basket of chips and salsa free. After the first basket of chips and salsa the rest are 2.50 so no more chips. This is charged if your eating an entree or just having a drink. The restaurant is always clean and the servers are always polite and give good service. A business owner must really be struggling to charge for chips and salsa!!!!! I see this business kissing a lot of clientele for being greedy!!! I've recently revisited this establishment, you get one salsa and chips free and charge from there after. If you order Queso or guacamole you don't not get extra chips that is a charge!!! This is wrong!!!! read more

The food is good however the service is terrible. Have been there several times with a big group of about 20. It takes forever to get your drinks and even longer to get the check. Consistently there is only 1 server for this size group while the rest of the restaurant is mostly empty and other servers are standing around doing nothing. The manager never helps either. We wanted to love this place since it's in our neighborhood, but we're on the fence. The good: chili poblanos were good, and rice and beans that came with the dinner were also good. The bad: shrimp ceviche tostada not worth the price. Shrimp were almost undetectable and the tostada shell was a warmed up, slightly stale, box tostada. I would have expected a freshly deep fried corn tortilla. It was essentially pico de gallo, not ceviche. Likely will try again, though. read more

Horrible service. Waited 10 min for a drink and nobody came back. Left and was accused of not paying. If we would have had any service, it would have been paid. If we had good service, I tip 50%... Will never go back to this shathole.... Whoever uploaded the video was one of the 4 employees waiting by the door, not helping customers. We said goodbye when we originally left. I know my customers don't pay unless invoiced... Run that POS restaurant like a business and people will pay their bills. read more
