My wife and I love Mexican, and we love microbrews, this has both! They have primarily "Birdboy" beers but also keep guest taps as well. The food was phenomenal, I got the chicken quesadilla and my wife got the chorizo quesadilla. Both of us agreed that is was the best we have ever eaten. Their guac wasn't that great (too much cilantro) but it's subjective. The restaurant itself was very clean, and you could observe the chef working. They also had classic rock playing which was nice. The customer service was excellent, and the food pricing was pretty decent. This will definitely become a destination for us. read more

Tacos Tacos Taco!!!! We came to this place with a pretty large group and did not have a reservation, during savor Fort Wayne week mind you, and they couldn't have been more accommodating. Some of our party is gluten free with a pretty severe allergy and the staff made sure to ask the kitchen multiple times so she didn't get sick. The server was a tall gentleman who, for as busy as it was, was spot on! I know large groups can be daunting at times with everyone wanting different things at different time and all talking out of order like a bunch of preschoolers but this server took it in stride and wIth a smile to boot! Nice place for craft beer and gourmet tacos in Northwest Fort Wayne! We've visited on week nights and once on Sunday for their brunch menu. Always a very nice experience. They have a variety of local craft beers on tap that rotate. The food has always been excellent. My favorites were the avocado toast and the Korean beef taco. The atmosphere is modern and trendy, very beautifully decorated. It would be nice if they had room for outside seating but sadly not at this time. Found this little gem while on business travel. Since it was Taco Tuesday, was pleasantly surprised with a free taco deal if I ordered two. Ended up getting a sampler of their shrimp taco, Korean beef taco and pork taco. Each taco was absolutely delicious - by far some of the best tacos I've ever had! Each taco had a generous portion of meat, seasoning and flavor was spot on. Rivals any great taco in LA. Despite how filling they were, I saved room for their churro waffle dessert. Went for brunch on Sunday. My favorite beer was the Marquette. It's a saison that has a good flavor and nice balance. Sat at the bar and got the brunch quesadillas. They were excellent. A big portion for a good price. The potatoes could've been cooked just slightly more, but the flavors were excellent. Also tried the churro waffle. Talk about a great dessert. Comes with chocolate and caramel sauce and I would eat that every day if I could. Oliver and McKayla were behind the bar and they both gave awesome service. No free chips as is the custom in many Mexican restaurants. Tiny portions on chips, salsa, guac. For $8 ouch! Guac came in a bowl as big around as a silver dollar. Enough for maybe two chips. The chips came in a little metal bucket. The tiny little bowls with the sauces around it. Trying to be trendy didn't work for me. I had a chicken burrito. No option for wet. At least not that the server offered. It was filled well. Barely lukewarm. No excuse for the kitchen being just feet away. Flavor was decent, but a plate with nothing on it but a filled plain tortilla won't get me walking into this place again. About $70 for three people with NO alcohol. I love SolBird and have brought many other people with me to check it out. The food is great, it doesn't matter what you get, it's yummy!! The beer also, fantastic. I only have 2 minor things that disappointed me. The dessert I loved which was chocolate Pot o Cream is no longer available. And I went to a food truck event, saw SolBird and headed that way. They had the pork tacos that I loved, so I was excited. The problem was that they are not made the same way as in the restaurant, the pork looks pulled in the restaurant and it's cut into cubes for the truck. Weird! The worst part was that they were so fatty, you could hardly eat them. It was bad! I'm still in love with the restaurant, but won't ever eat at the food truck again. read more

I've been to Solbird twice and each time it's a treat! I love the Caesar salad. The second I got it with steak which was exceptional. Neat little place. However, it's not too big of a place, which gives it some of its charm. The good: The atmosphere, Food is very tasty, Service is excellent, Beer is excellent-they have Birdboy beer & some guest taps, They also have wine-including 2EE's. The bad: Although very good, the food doesn't present a good value to me. Two tacos for $10, and I'm not really full. I wish there was a 3-taco option similar to Hoppy Gnome. Also, the quesadilla is hard to eat without a fork. Off the cuff, the men's restroom has a light sensor, which doesn't stay on long enough for you to finish...so one hand still doing my business, and the other hand waving in the air to turn the light back on. Speaking of light, we left after sundown, and the parking lot is pitch black. So, not sure why they hate light. The most annoying thing about the visit is the beer menu. The beer in the menu was mostly wrong. So, they have the beer on a screen, but it only shows 4 beers at a time, and it moves too fast. They don't have the beers listed anywhere else. At least when you're at Black Dog, they have an updated list on Beermenus.com so you can actually see them. This place isn't too bad, they just need some light, a better beer menu delivery, and better food value. We will be back, but not overly impressed with this place yet.
