Solbird has a nice atmosphere and great food. The Korean Beef tacos are fantastic. My wife and I eat here more than any other place in Fort Wayne. I haven't ate anything at this place that I haven't enjoyed. My only request is that keep at least one sour beer on the menu at Al times. read more

Have been a Sol Food Truck fan for several years so it was a must try for the brick and mortar place. Plus Nancy is a beer lover so she was all in. The service by Oliver was attentive, informative and helpful. At least a dozen brewski's available, Nancy sampled two and settled on Bills Bitter. And she loved it no "bitter beer face" here thank you very much . I got the Korean Pork Sliders while Nancy got the Chicken & Black quesadilla. Both I would highly recommend, presentation really unique too. My sliders came on a thin slab of black slate and Nancy's on a small wooden cutting board w/ a handle. I went into Solbird not sure what to expect. I've had the tacos from the sol kitchen food truck and thought that they were good, but way too pricey. This made me hesitant to go to Solbird. I'm happy I didn't let that stop me from experiencing a great meal. I went during savor Fort Wayne and Solbird has an awesome deal. I started with the sopa. So delicious-- full of flavor, fresh, and the perfect amount of heat. The meatballs in the sopa were amazing! I had the Baja shrimp and steak & papas tacos. Also very delicious. Stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Drinks looked great but we were grabbing to go on our way through town. We got a variety of tacos, the carnitas, the Baja shrimp and the Korean beef. All were well made and tasty. They were full, no skimping on the meat. My hubby liked the shrimp best and I liked the carnitas best. All were great tho. The flavor was good but I've had better. If I'm in town I'd stop by again and make sure I dined in for drinks too. read more

We stopped in for brunch and as with any new restaurant, I keep an open mind. However, we left pleasantly surprised. The decor is industrial and modern, which works perfectly for this type of eatery. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful in their recommendations. I ordered the quesadilla tres capas, which was a generous portion of grilled potatoes, bacon, queso, fresco and pico de gallo. My husband ordered the Korean beef tacos off the lunch menu and those were by far some of the tastiest tacos we've had. The slaw really makes that taco. We split the beer Belgian waffle, which was fluffy and had just a tiny hint of hops. I'm excited Solbird is so close to home and can't wait to go back and try some local taps. read more

The food is good, and the service is decent but slow. They don't post the prices for beer, and then you find out it's $7 a draft. That was for a beer I've had for $4 elsewhere. Tacos were ample, and three were a lot to eat. The ceviche was served on a cracker, I really enjoyed how they served it. Just post the prices on your beer, and I would go back. Wow! This restaurant is incredible all around! The service was wonderful. My friend and I sat outside and our server never forgot about us. She was consistent and had the coolest curly hair :). Our appetizer of chips and guacamole was delicious! Their chips have incredible flavor and the guacamole was SO fresh. I got the steak burrito which had incredible flavor and I could only eat half of it! I think I would ask for half the rice that comes in it for next time. Overall, I wasn't expecting that much quality for such a small place, it was SO yummy!! Their beers are all from local breweries and I had a cider mixed with Mad Anthony's Raspberry beer (I think a pale/light ale). read more

We've enjoyed Sol Kitchen food truck...but goodness the food was great at the brick and mortar restaurant. Perfect!! We had the guacamole w the homemade chips...delicious. We had chorizo & black bean quesadilla, pork tacos...the flavor of both was excellent. The tacos aren't real filling so I'd recommend getting an extra. We also had the creamy dessert which had a hint of cayenne to bring that subtle hint of heat. The only downfall?? It's located on the far north side of the city. I'm usually quite happy at generally any restaurant but nothing about this experience was good. 2pm, Thursday. a couple of people at one other table and a few guys at the bar, that's all. First off, the chairs are so incredibly heavy, I had to put my purse down and grab it with both hands to move it far enough to sit down. I spent most of our meal in my own thoughts because the music was blaring so loud that I couldn't hear what my friends were saying. When asked if it could be turned down, the staff said "Sorry, can't do anything about it." The food? Choices are limited but I found a Caesar salad on the menu. Big mistake; worst Caesar I've ever had. How can you mess up a salad? With uncomplimentary-flavored, hot-seasoned chicken. The flavor didn't match up with Caesar at all. So after removing the meat I found a handful of lettuce at the bottom with some slime on it that only vaguely resembled salad dressing and still tasted of the hot seasoning. I asked the waitress for some milk to hopefully clear my palate. She said no. Anything milky? Coffee creamer. Never mind. When my friends had finished eating the waitress tried to give me a box to take my food home. Why? She was aware that I couldn't eat it there, why would I take it home? I'm usually a good tipper, 25-35%, but she didn't deserve it, sorry. This is one place I would never go to ever again. This place is frustrating more than anything. They offer solid good food but the service or management, not sure which or both - is lacking. Savor Fort Wayne is going on... so we arrive at 4:45 and there's plenty of seating, so we take a seat. We waited 30 minutes for someone to bring a menu, to take our drink order and to find out which soup they were serving tonight. By 5:00 the place was full and 3 more servers arrived. If they have the meatball soup, it usually arrives with dessert, tonight it actually showed up before the entree even though the waitress apologized for the delay since my bowl went to another table. I wish I was joking when I say the soup arrived at 5:30. In another 20 minutes the entrees arrived. One couple walked in waited for a table, sat when the folks left. The table wasn't cleared, they were ignored for at least 15-20 min before I (and the table next to them) told a different waitress they had not been waited on. Even though it wasn't her table, she took care of them. By 6:20, we received our check...we enjoyed the food, we always do - but the experience was lacking. I honestly don't know why we keep going back, I think we hope that it will get better and if the food wasn't as good as it is, we definitely wouldn't go back. read more

Wow first time coming here and it didn't disappoint! It is tucked away in a shopping center off DuPont behind the gas station and it's hard to view the store front from the road. Plenary of parking in the well maintained parking lot. Very clean and today once inside as well. They adhere to strict Covid precautions and require masks etc. I love the simplicity of the way it's decorated while focusing more on their homemade food and beers. We came for my birthday celebration and the staff made it very special for me. It was Awesome due to this Covid Thing where doing things is limited. We tried a little but of everything from their tap line and their menu. The food is made from scratch recipes froM The owner and has a very authentic taste and fresh feel to it. The spices used leave a kick in your mouth and I just couldn't believe how fresh it all was. They serve desserts as well and while unique they stick to the theme of Hispanic foods Americans are known to love. Def worth trying everything on the menu. I chose their lightest beef and it was fresh on my pallet and crisp. Great paired with lime and salt. Next I tried ale that was smooth and earthy. Very good as well. A few other lints landed across the table but by the time we ate food Comprise set in and I think I pretty much stuck with the light beer for the rest of the evening. Didn't want to feel to full! Staff was outstanding. So helpful and friendly and made sure our table was tended to in a timely fashion. The chef/owner came to our table to greet us and ask about the food which is hard to find these days and was very much appreciated by our table. If you're nervous about going inside they offer a drive thru window. This place is a gem to the Fort Wayne community and needs to be visited by everyone. I'm glad they decided to open a brick and mortar expanding from their food truck. It's worth the visit and visit often. Highly recommend. read more

First ttime there. The food was great. It was refreshing to see and taste different options. The menu was clean and It cluttered. Our server was knowledgeable and very helpful with explaining everything. He gave us the history of how it started as a push cart. Then it went to a food truck which they still have. And now their first restaurant. The door says 21 to enter. However they did say 18 and up was OK. It's not reallly a traditional bar. The beer was good. They Let us have some samples for free before we ordered. This place is close to my house. I will be coming back. Well done!! read more

Well sadly I'll never be back to Sol Bird after the owner was just incredibly rude and confrontational for no reason. He was busy and didn't have enough staff. A real shame he lost his composure with one of his best supporters. All because I asked if a table was available. I understand running a retail food establishment can be challenging - I've done it. Well ... it's super close and that's always a plus. I just wish I liked it more because if I did we could walk there and then walk our (maybe) tipsy butts back home. The space is small and welcoming even if the bar staff doesn't acknowledge you. Boo on that - it's definitely not big enough that they can't see you to say 'hi'. The food is fine. It's not great. The menu LOOKS great. But there's something missing and idk what it is ... sides or garnish or something. I can tell you the last time I was there I met a girlfriend and we sat at the high table by the wall near back hall. The female server seemed to have forgotten about us. But then she apologized multiple times. So she didn't FORGET, but it was busy, or something. We didn't even order drinks, just a dinner and 2 desserts to split. We told her we wanted to try them both. Now, I must say, she did split the desserts on the checks, which was GREAT. Super job! However ... one of the desserts was the churro waffle. And ... we were soooo sure it was microwaved that we mentioned it to her. She said no, but that it comes in a mix. Well, whatever - it had that microwaved texture and was totally disappointing that even as I'm typing this I'm sad. Don't put 'churro' in the description. Just don't. It was worse than an Eggo waffle in that it didn't even have a toasted texture. I'm a dessert aficionado. I know stuff. In short, I'm glad it's in this part of town because we are sadly lacking in all things. Except we do have a good Kroger. We need everything else. We sought out Solbird, wanting to visit a non-chain eatery on the north-side that served local craft beer with a foodie-rep...which was surprisingly hard to find in north-side Fort Wayne. We had a long morning at the zoo and were pretty hungry by the time we dropped by Solbird. The dining space was modern industrial, but brightly colored, with a long bar on one side and small kitchen in the back with two (2) cooks. The menu consisted of fusion and creative Mexican-influenced items; tacos/quesadillas/burritos, but with ingredients such as Korean-marinated pork, chorizo made in-house, goat cheese, kimchi slaw, and fresh veggie combinations. We ordered the shrimp, pesto & goat cheese quesadilla, guacamole & chips, Mexican caesar salad, and two (2) tacos (Korean beef and shrimp & chorizo). While it was great that Solbird offered the local Birdboy beer and other nearby drafts, there were not any beer styles that appealed to us, so we stuck with water. Everything was okay up to when we ordered...but then...the wait. We were two (2) out of approximately seven (7) patrons, of which four (4) already received their food. The Mexican caesar and guacamole came out after about ten (10) minutes. The guacamole was okay, but the portion size was very small for the price. Nothing was very Mexican about the caesar, except for the addition of pepitas...it definitely needed spruced up flavor-wise. We then waited almost twenty (20) more minutes for the two (2) tacos and quesadilla. It looked like the kitchen was working on a catering order and had forgotten about our tickets. When we received our food, we preferred the tacos over the sort-of bland quesadilla (which needed more pesto). The tacos had lots of meat and toppings, definitely not a skimpy taco portion. The "Jazzy" shrimp and chorizo taco was my favorite, with a good combination of different textures and balanced flavors. Some house-made salsas or hot sauces would have been a nice spicy addition to the tacos and quesadilla, but it looked like only Tapatio was available. Anyhoo, I had high hopes for Solbird. We'd perhaps visit again when on the north-side of Fort Wayne to check out the rotating beer menu or the brunch offerings. They could hopefully work out the service timing and make a few tweaks...they definitely have the imaginative flavor combos which the Dupont/Highway 3 area needs and I hope they are successful. read more

Get your Bird Boy Brewing beer here. Four dedicated taps for Bird Boy. The rest of the taps are Indiana breweries. Most of the taps are Fort Wayne breweries. You can even buy 22 oz boomers of Bird Boy beers. The food is Tex-Mex and al a cart. No meals. I got a Thai burrito. It is loaded. With salsa and chips to start, I could only eat half the burrito for lunch and ate the second half for lunch the next day. The Thai burrito was awesome. All the Thai flavors you that would expect. The salsa tasted freshly made and the tortilla chips looked homemade. Both great. I wish they would do the more traditional meal approach. read more

First time at Solbird, met some friends for lunch. I'm a sucker for any kind of fish or shrimp tacos so I ordered two Baja shrimp tacos. They were among the best I've ever had. Corn tortillas (important) lots of shrimp, good seasonings and toppings. My only negative was that the music playing was very loud. My friends and I hadn't seen each other for awhile and wanted to talk, but it was hard to have a conversation. Our server was not able to adjust the volume. We went in on a Tuesday at 610PM before a music event nearby. The atmosphere at Solbird was 'quirky cool' and they were about 3/4th full, so about 30-35 patrons. At 620PM, we ordered a very tasty brown ale & two Tuesday Taco specials, Korean Beef and Carnitas. We waited and waited for our 6 street tacos. At 710PM, 50 minutes after we ordered, I asked our waitress if they lost our food order. A minute later she delivered our food which was luke-warm. The tacos did have good flavor, though. We were 35 minutes late for our show thanks to the excruciatingly slow service at Solbird. Having been in the food industry, the major issues to me is the staff has virtually no communication with each other. Also, everyone seemed to be working at a lethargic pace, especially the two workers? in the kitchen. read more

I already loved the food truck version of Sol, so I wasn't surprised when I loved the food at Solbird! We started with the guacamole & chips, which was delicious! (I'm from California where the guac is competitive. I would say this is probably the best version of guac I have found since moving here!) I had the Ancho Steak burrito at the recommendation of one of the staff and I wasn't disappointed. The flavor was on point... Again, being from California, I have had my fair share of burritos, and while I didn't feel it was similar to a traditional burrito, it held its own! Perfect size, too! My husband had two Jazzy tacos and to be honest, I can't review these because they were so delicious to him, he never even offered me a bite! LOL The staff was super friendly and helpful. We went on a Saturday at an off time (I think it was like 2 or 3 p.m.), so they weren't that busy. The bartender said they pick up at dinner time, but lunches haven't caught on yet. The location is a little off the beaten path, but I have full confidence that their reputation from the food truck will counter this. The only bad thing I really have to review is it was pretty pricey. The above food, plus two beers came out to almost $50. Definitely a nice treat, but not a place that we could frequent, that's for sure! Side note: I have had the Shrimp and Pesto Quesadilla from the food truck and it is SO SO SO good that I have to force myself to order something else every time I go here because I want to try as much as possible - it's all so delicious! read more

Yay! Jerry and the kitchen made some positive changes since my wife and I first visited. The guacamole appetizer had a good amount of flavor and spice. Even the chips had more flavor.
