Completely disappointed in my experience with this "restaurant." In another review the owner mentions that this is a restaurant, not a brewery, yet I was denied service when I arrived with my 5 month old baby in tow. Nowhere on their website is any mention that all patrons must be 18+ .. Aside from that, there is a bar area and separate indoor and outdoor dining away from the bar. Upon entering I was greeted with a stare that said "Why are you here?" I am not local to the area, traveled from California and a single mother that was super excited to come across this place and their delicious-looking grilled quesadillas. It reminded me of the quesadillas my mom makes back home and I was so excited to try this place, especially after spending a good 30 minutes + searching for a Fort Wayne local restaurant that I wouldn't be able to find back home. After driving 25 minutes here, I was confused by the postage signage on the door that mentioned 21+ to enter. Yet still, I figured I would not be turned away as I was bringing a baby in a car seat, not a 16 year old who might steal a drink. After approaching the bar I was immediately told "This is an 18+ place." I expressed my confusion on this not being listed anywhere on the website as well as my 25 minute drive to the location and asked if since I was not welcome inside, at the dining booths NOT at the bar, may I sit outside instead. I was told this was okay, and since I already knew what I wanted ahead of time, I placed my order and went to sit outside. After only a few moments outside another employee approached me to inform me I also was not welcome to eat outside. I tried to explain that I had already placed an order and was told I was able to eat outside. Instead the employee continued to speak over me, again and again repeating that I could not dine there. I mentioned that the door states 21+ to enter, not to dine outside. Growing continually frustrated I asked the employee to leave me alone as he was repeating the same thing and it was contradictory to what I had already been told. He responded that he "Just wanted to reiterate" that I was not welcome to dine there. Thank you, because I really needed that reiterated right? After again asking him to leave me alone as he was badgering me, he told me I did "not need to be rude." In which I responded that he was actually the rude one, and not family friendly at all. Moments later he came back telling me my order was cancelled because "Nobody talks to me like that." Honestly, get over yourself. Secondly, if you describe yourself as a "restaurant not a brewery" then act like one. This place is NO DIFFERENT than ANY bar/restaurant that serves alcohol at a bar yet also provides dining away from the bar. I mean honestly, these employees acted as if I was planning to sneak my 5 month old a cold brew. Restaurants such as Chili's, Applebee's, BJ's, etc. ALL have a bar and booths away from the bar, the exact same set up, and do not turn away guests who bring their baby in tow. Really, seriously, get over yourselves. I asked to sit outside in the 85 degree weather and humidity because I just really wanted to try that quesadilla. Knowing I was from out of town, drove 30 minutes with a baby, searched this place up .. the least they could have done is been the LEAST bit friendly and accommodating. When I'm sitting outside after ordering a water and quesadilla, don't act like I ordered a tap beer and was sneaking my baby sips in his bottle. Absolutely ridiculous. BTW, I've brought my baby to multiple places in California that were "21+" and was NEVER denied service. At one brewery/kitchen I ate indoor, not at the bar. At the other, outdoor at the picnic style tables. Because most people have common sense that a 21+ requirement doesn't apply to the 5 month old baby. ESPECIALLY dining outdoor and ordering a water. read more

Great food! I'd recommend doing take out to avoid one of the bartender/waitress attitudes. She was talking about her sex life, complaining about her job and had something to say about a customer every time they came in. While the food is pretty good, there is little value in coming here. No complimentary chips and salsa is provided, rather you have to spend $8 on a handful chips and a small dish of guacamole if you want an appetizer. The tacos are good, but still rather pricey. Great service and a beautiful atmosphere! We enjoyed a beer flight along with fresh guacamole and chips, and a combo of tacos! You can mix and match which is great! We decided to try this place at the last minute. It was busy but not full. A good selection of local beers on tap. Only one cider for SWMBO. Service started well. We got our drinks and some Chips and Salsa even though we ordered Chips and Guac. The green salsa was pretty hot as was the red salsa. Now we are not spicy food neophytes so it really had some zip. Then we waited as table after table that came in after us was served. Finally we were told our order was not put in the kitchen. So then we were given some Chips and Guac that was quite good. SWMBO got her quesadilla and I my tacos. Both were quite good. I tried Solbird Oktoberfest and Bill's Bitter. The Oktoberfest was good while the Bitter was very good. We have been here twice, it is really good, the food and the beer. Our waiter today was fantastic. I have not had anything bad nor have the people who are with me. The food here is fantastic. Taken right off the successful food truck everything on the menu is wonderful. Combine the great food with some really tasty craft beers and you get an A+ from me. Some the old stuffy places like cough Halls might be able to learn something from these innovate people. The hours listed on Yelp had them listed as closed (glad to see that has been updated), but we decided to see if they were open anyway and to our delight they were. It was a Tuesday or Wednesday night about 8pm and the place was mostly full (there were two tables open) and the long bar had about 40% seating available. We sat ourselves and the server came right over. He explained the menu and we ordered a couple or beers. We had the shrimp ceviche, a Thai/shrimp burrito, and shrimp quesadilla. The ceviche was smaller than expected, but looked and tasted fresh so no complaints. I also thought the thai shrimp burrito would be bigger because it was listed under the headline "Death by Burrito". It had lots of peanuts in it (menu mentioned only peanut sauce) and good flavor. My friend loved her shrimp quesadilla and strongly recommends it. Overall the vibe was good with people enjoying themselves, music playing throughout the restaurant, and very nice/attentive servers. I look forward to coming back and trying the various tacos (which you can mix and match however you want) and eating here for years to come. Always excited to see a new bar/restaurant open on north side of town, we finally got a chance to visit Solbird. We saw the great reviews and heard good things from a few friends, so last night we went. Parking lot wasn't packed but steady and we were sat immediately. Our waitress seemed attentive and was on the spot with cleaning the table and providing menus - that was were the best part of the dinner ended. The beer my wife wanted wasn't listed on the menu, but we knew they had it because if friends that had recently visited and also because we could see it among the tap handles, however when it was ordered our waitress reacted as if she'd never heard of it before and argued with us over it being even offered. We insisted they had it and ordered it, I ordered a Saison but what I received was horrible and not what any other Saison would have tasted like. I choked it down as quickly as I could just so I could order something else to get the taste out of my mouth - oh yes, forgot, we were never brought or even offered water, yet all the other tables had it? So when I ordered my next beer, which was a replacement for a beer they had ran out of, it was also out and if I was willing for them to run to the brewery and back, they might have it in next 45 minutes. They offered nothing else to my liking so I asked to have some water. Not sure how you don't know your keg supply, especially on a Saturday in Fort Wayne, but they were out of 3 of the beers they offered with no subs? We ordered food which arrived quickly and looked great. However, my quesadilla was cold. It was flavorful, but the sizes were more of appetizers than entrees? I was done with this place and to top off, they have you pay by a handheld device which you must do as the waitress holds it and watches you tip - btw is the only reason I left her a tip at all! Entire meal was less than 20 minutes and we ended up at another place down the road for a real meal and good beer. My advise stick to food trucks! Sad part is that it could be a great place but I bet it's bellied up by Spring. Don't waste your money or time here, better places along Dupont! read more
