I have to update from my previous rating of 5 stars as we have had more than one disappointment with burnt crust and extremely thin crust. On my last experience (yesterday) they managed to burn it and make the crust soggy at the same time. This is my last time. Not many places make Sicilian pizza. The dough is thicker than NY style but not as thick as a deep dish pizza. You can get Sicilian pizza and slices in many NY pizza places, but it's harder to find outside of the area. Solle's makes Sicilian pizza and it's pretty good. Note that they don't often have it at their Madison location (I'm guessing it's not a popular option for college students) but they readily have it at the Fred George location. They have a 3 topping option and we went with mushroom, sausage (which is the NY style sliced sausage) and onions. It was very good. For me, Sicilian pizzas are all about the puffy and crisp edge slices and these were really good. This is going to be a new favorite to order from them. Speaking of ordering: we wanted delivery and while we are in the delivery area for their Madison location (the one that didn't have Sicilian pizza) we are not in their delivery area for Fred George (the location that does have Sicilian). The helpful person that I spoke to at the Fred George location told me that I can also order from them through other delivery services. I'm glad he said that, because that's exactly what I did. I'm going to preface this by saying my partner and I both work in the service industry, so it takes a LOT of ridiculousness for me to come on here and make a negative review. But here we go. Two nights ago, we ordered one pizza. The ETA was 45 minutes. We waited about an hour, but decided not to fuss too much about it since the game was just ending, and this pizza place was surely busy. After an hour and 30 minutes, we called to check up on the order. We were told it was very busy and it would be another 30 minutes. We were a little bummed and extremely hungry but decided to keep waiting. After 45 minutes, we called again and politely asked for a refund or free pizza, because we live literally only 5 minutes down the road and this was getting ridiculous. We were told no, and that the pizza was coming out of the oven. 20 minutes later, my partner called again and was just placed on hold for over 5 minutes, which led us to hang up and drive over to the restaurant. Upon arriving, there were quite literally only TWO customers inside, and the kitchen staff did not seem stressed or rushed whatsoever. We asked about our pizza again. We had spent over $30 on a single pizza that we waited 2 hrs and 45 minutes for and NEVER GOT, so we were extremely frustrated but still spoke to the staff with respect and patience. They told us the delivery had been picked up 30 minutes ago. We told them we haven't received it and are staying only minutes down the road. Then they said oh, it looks like the delivery driver either kept it or delivered it to the wrong address. They mentioned this was the FIFTH time that had happened in the same night, and offered no solution. We said, okay, can we please get a pizza then? (My god.) And we were told NO pizza and NO refund due to the fact that this was the fault of their 3rd party delivery company. The lady, I'm assuming who was the manager, rambled for a bit about how giving us a pizza would cause shrink and told us we would need to seek a refund through this other company. So basically we were being told that, because this restaurant hired an obviously unreliable delivery company, we had to pay for what happened instead of them. And being that I work in the service industry, I know full well that the cost of the dough, cheese and sauce for this pizza would probably only set this restaurant back a few dollars. We basically just had to leave. Today, we disputed the charge with the cc company and thank god we're getting our money back. But the icing on the cake is that the credit company verified for us that there was no 3rd party company involved. All of our money went directly to Solles and they were lying the entire time. This is the second time we have ordered Solle's, so I can officially say it isn't a fluke. This place is now my favorite spot to eat in ALL of Tallahassee. In total, we have tried the pizza, the spaghetti, the calzone (which is my favorite calzone in town). HOWEVER, for me, it's all about that meatball sub. Truly, it was a kind of "hole in the wall" type place, but the pizza was certainly decent; nice, crispy crust (not soggy as is the case with some pizzas). Mishap with a 3rd party app! I never use 3rd party apps and always call to order but I don't know why I did it this time. Long story short, the store never received my order and by the time I called it was already late and I had to figure out something else for dinner so I asked for a refund. I called today and the owner was AMAZING! He explained the situation (which I basically already knew, 3rd party apps are the terrible) and while he wasn't able to refund to my card (only the app company can and I can't find information on how to contact them) he offered a full cash refund. My favorite thing about this restaurant is that they really stack toppings on your pizza. I got a vegan pizza with vegan sausage and mushrooms, and they absolutely piled the mushrooms and sausage on there. The Stromboli we got was also enormous, so you definitely get a bang for your buck. About a week ago, I decided to try out this new place because I'd heard about the eggplant lasagna and wanted to try it. This place competes for one of the top spots in town. They have their own delivery, so we ordered delivery on a Friday night. The phone got a busy signal a few times before I got through, so I know it was a popular place right away. We ordered a white pie with bacon, spinach and tomato and a classic pie with onion, mushroom and pepperoni. Both are AMAZING! My favorite was the white pie because it had so much creamy ricotta and garlic. My fiancées favorite was the classic. He is a true Italian and raves about the pizza sauce, which is a big deal. The pizza was tasteless, dry & the toppings were very little. You could have shaped all the toppings together & it would fit on 1 slice. $47 hard earned dollars for this disappointment. It has gone downhill & we will NEVER EVER order from there again. I'll pass this on to whoever I meet so they will not make the same mistake....trusting & ordering their food. I was rushing during the lunch hour and wanted something quick, pizza. I arrived here, kind of unsure based on the location and appearance of the building. Never judge a book by its cover, the pizza was amazing. I had there lunch special which is two one topping slices with a drink. I kept it simple, one cheese and one black olives. It tasted great, honestly, a top five all time favorite. I can't wait to go back and order a whole pie next time. I'm new to the area but this could potentially be the best pizza shop in town. They earned every single penny from me. Went for the first time yesterday and I am blowed. Tallahassee is notorious for having OK food and people hype it up. But when I say this place is the TRUTH?? I mean it. I got two pizza slices add pepperoni and it was the perfect crust to pizza ratio with a well equipped amount of sauce. Also had spaghetti and while I wouldn't get the Italian sausage again the MEATBALLS were well drenched and had steam coming out even when I arrived at home. We add a house salad for health and it reminds me of every other place but it was refreshing for my palette. But what really puts this place over the top is, the customer service! First time I went there was 01/28/23; everything was wonderful. The pizza was very good and they were so large! Ordered from them again on 02/02/23 and both pizza bottoms were burnt as the attached pics. I emailed them and have yet to hear back from them. I ordered again last night, 02/10/23, thinking the burnt pizzas were a fluke. I told them about the burnt pizzas and no one, I mean no one, said anything. I would have expected an "I'm sorry that happened" or something but no no one said a word. The manager was even there and he didn't say anything. I also noticed the price I was charged was not the price on the menu in the window, all the prices had been blacked out and written over in a marker. When I asked about this, I was told the prices had gone up from the last time they printed the menu. How is this even legal! I won't be going back since they seem to not care about their customers nor making sure they post the correct prices. This is infuriating to say the least. I also believe this is illegal. I went online to see what I could do and fond this from Channel 7 in Miami by an attorney there: Patrick Fraser: "A simple question from Alexandria. Can you show one price on a menu and charge another price nearly twice as much?" Howard Finkelstein, 7News legal expert: "No, you can't. The menu is legally an offer, and when you place your order, it's a binding contract and they have to sell the food at that price." So I will be following up on thsi with an attorney. read more
