Living in the city I understand prices are higher than the surrounding Bay Area. Prices are decent for the city for dress shirts/ blouses ($5) more expensive than if I we're to go to my regular person in Marin. Price for a baby blanket is Ridiculous. I brought in 2 baby blankets (very thin) and was charged $49 which a regular price for an actual blanket. This is why I will not be heading back. And the fact that it took them a week to get it back to me. Service. The guy at the store is nice. but his service is slow haven't received any of my items within the regular 2-3 day turnaround. I think it's important to try and retain as many regulars as possible but the fact that they weren't willing to correct the price leaves me to go back to my old cleaners. The service is terrible and the owner has tried to over charge me multiple times. Don't be fooled by the smiley face. If you ask any questions, you will be kicked out with your dry-cleans thrown out. This morning I came to pick up shirts. The owner told me one of them is blouse, instead of a shirt so she needed to charge me double the price ($3 v $6). I pointed out to her that's a button down cotton shirt for women, not a blouse. She got irritated and told me she would charge me as a blouse anyway because that's how the contractor booked it. I told her that she has overcharged me in the past (more on that below) so I am not gonna let her do that again. She got very agitated and yelled at me for not mentioning it at the time. After we argued for a bit, she told me not to come again, picked up my shirts, walked towards the door and was going to throw them out. I had to stop her and pay for the dry-cleans at the same time. P.S. Previously, I brought a leather jacket for cleaning and fixing a small cut (smaller than a penny), she told me that the patchwork will cost 30-40 dollars but she won't know until the contractor actually see it. So she charged me the maximum amount the contractor could ask for any patchwork, which is about 70 dollars, and told me that she would refund me the extra afterwards. Refund? Adding ANOTHER ONE STAR review for this place. Two pairs of pants were supposed to be hemmed at the same length, but one was hemmed at 24" and the other 26". When I asked for a free re-hem because it wasn't what I paid for, I was told "You must have wanted it that way" and that the woman who did the hemming "Never makes mistakes". They wanted to charge me another $18 to fix their mistake. They have a bad attitude here and treat people like they don't need their business, so please join me in NEVER GOING HERE. Stay away from this cleaners. They are incredibly rude and do not provide great service. I walked in to get an estimate for some hem work that I needed done on some dresses and the lady didn't even hold the dress up before saying she could not do it. Then after I explained what I wanted done in more detail she said it would cost me $65. I told her that was an exuberant amount for what I wanted done and she said fine, you can go. I then later in the day went to a different cleaners in downtown San Francisco (ABC Cleaners) and they were incredibly friendly and gave me the price of $25 for the same amount of work. Soma cleaners destroyed the leather on a trench I had dry cleaned (see pictures) the leather was torn along the collar, and the belt, which is also made of leather, had holes throughout after the dry cleaning. The manager refused to provide any kind of apology or take any responsibility- instead she demanded that I pay full price. To the horror of other customers in the store, she started yelling at me when I complained about the tears in my coat. Needless to say, I will never return. read more

AVOID!!! My jeans came back shrunken. My Mitchell and ness Jersey came back with wrinkled and frayed stitching in and around the numbers and name. When I brought it up to them, they quickly got defensive and said it was like that when I brought it in! How was it like that when I brought it in when my jersey was brand new with the tags on it still and it was ONLY suppose to be altered? After going back and fourth and continuous argument. I gave up and left. Not to mention they seem to be really focused on parking enforcement so much outside that while I was waiting the lady was spending parts of her time taking photos of vehicles and the man went out there yelling and threatening people that the cops and the tow trucks have been called. Avoid. My only experience with this place was quite worrying. A simple wash and fold order came back in two shipments. The first came in a used laundry bag that was not mine. When I contacted the business, they apologized and said they would send me a new bag to compensate me for an employee forgetting to label the bags. I thought, "NBD, s*** happens". But then the REST(?) of my laundry came in another used bag that was not mine! I didn't take an inventory of the clothes I had sent, but now I wish I had, because I have no idea what else wasn't included in the first shipment. I contacted the business again, hoping this was just another innocent misunderstanding. Again, I was told that a new bag would be sent, although this time it sounded like the used bag was what they intended to send me. I never heard from Soma Cleaners again. Pass. Hard pass. read more

I live nearby so thought I'd try them out... first time will be my last. Took 5 silk blouses and a pair of pants here. They completely ruined one of the blouses - took it from a vivid cobalt blue smooth silk to a faded light blue with a weird pebbly texture. Stained another one, and failed to remove stains on two others. Seriously. If you have delicate fabrics, or expensive clothing - I'd stay away. read more

Horrible customer service! I went to SOMA cleaners 1 for all of my dry cleaning for a few months. The last time I went in, I picked up my dress shirt and found a sizable rip in my sleeve. I brought it back to them and they told me they would send it to their facilities to have it evaluated and would call me soon. Months went by and I never heard from anyone. I finally decided to go in to see what was going on. They had my shirt on the rack with an attached letter telling me that my shirt was "worn out" so it was essentially my fault. This was one of the most poorly handled customer service experiences I've ever received. I won't be returning to a place that doesn't value their customers nor their customer's clothing. I wrote a kind of average review a while ago and wanted to write an update. I still continue to use them as my dry cleaners and have not had any problems. My clothes come back clean and on time. I haven't had any special requests or materials but what I have had done has been great. I have also had some hemming and that has worked out well too. Customer service is pleasant. I'm kind of surprised by the bad reviews. I am pretty low maintenance person though and so are my clothes. read more

I don't understand how they could have 4.5 stars on Yelp...but upon a closer look, a lot of them were from people with only ONE review. That figures. Bottom line? Don't go there. They do a sloppy job and the employees have a bad attitude, though the owners seem nice. I had just moved into the neighborhood and decided to find a new dry cleaner. They looked legit so I gave them a shot. However, a pair of shorts came back with old tooth paste stains all over - and looked exactly like when I dropped them off, no improvements whatsoever aside from the ironing. I took them back. The owners were very nice over the phone and offered to re-do them free of charge. They said they did put a "sorry tag" inside the shorts to flag that they couldn't get the stains off. But, no one had explained that to me at the time of pickup. OK, no problem, I really needed a dry cleaner close to my new pad, and they were trying. Three days later, I went to pick up the shorts. The girl was not very helpful to begin with, and when she finally found them, she seemed genuinely surprised that I said I didn't have to pay, even though their own invoice said "no pay" on it. Then another girl came from the back and told me that I had to pay. That's when I lost it and said "look, you guys really need to talk to each other and get your act together. This was my first experience with you and it might very well be my last." And all they said was? "Well, you don't like us, and that's fine". A match made in heaven this was not. read more

So I've had a pretty decent time working with this dry cleaner. They've been kind and on-time with my clothes and mostly I had no complaints. Then, I took a silk dress there two weeks ago that had a ketchup stain on it (I needed that 2am drive-through visit on a way home from a wedding). When I dropped it off I made sure that they marked the stain with some tape just to emphasize that I wanted it cleaned. I got a call a few days later telling me the plan had sent the dress back as a reject and I needed to sign a waiver if I wanted them to clean it. Huh? So, I went to the shop and the stain was gone, but the fabric was pulled and damaged. Um... where'd the stain go? The guy working at the store called the plant where they send the clothes for cleaning and asked what happened. They said they'd investigate and call me back. Well, turns out that someone at the plant removed the stain and in doing so ruined the fabric, then tried to pawn it off like I had sent the dress in with the damage! How ridiculous is that!? But fine, these things happen, shitty as they may be, so I was calm and told them that I expected to be reimbursed for the cost of the dress plus the cost I had put into it to have it tailored. I should add, I bought the dress for this specific wedding, so it had only been worn once. And, now it's no longer available in stores or online... So I get the claim form and submit it. The woman from the plant sends my dress back with a letter. They want to offer me the dress back (damaged fabric, the stain still slightly visible) and pay me for half of the dress only. WHAT?! Are you kidding?? What am I supposed to do with a torn and stained dress? So finally, I get mad. For over a week I had been amicable and easygoing, but this was pushing it too far. In the end I was fully reimbursed, but I will never go to this cleaner again. I wouldn't have minded if they had just fessed up from the beginning and been swift about the process, but I had to go in unprompted every few days to follow up on the status because nobody was calling me, and then the low-ball offer for reimbursement? Sorry, I'd rather pay more and travel farther to get good service and feel comfortable about the way I'll be treated should anything happen to my clothes along the way. After sharing this story with a few of my coworkers I've learned that this cleaner has repeatedly damaged their clothes... booo :( read more

I wanted to update my review where I said SOMA cleaners ruined my shirt. I wanted to let you all know, they bought me a new one. Not the same, but similar. Then, I went to my dry cleaning bag from them and took out another shirt recently (that I hadn't worn since I had it cleaned there a year ago). And sure enough, it's ruined. It had a leather strap around teh neck and they washed it so the leather broke. Thanks for the shirt SOMA cleaners. Next time, how about you learn how to dry clean without ruining my clothes in the first place?? read more

I am surprised by the negative reviews here. I have been bringing my cleaning here for a bout 3 years and I have never had a problem. My grandparents were dry cleaners so I grew up with a mother who is very, very picky when it comes to dry cleaning. And, the service has always been friendly. Plus, I get a corporate discount. My only complaint is that I wish they buttoned more than the top button of my shirts. It would help them stay better. read more

Sock savior. You'll see from previous yelps there have been challenges with alterations and dry cleaning. Intent is there. But the final product left something to be desired. Not so with socks. Two of my favorite pairs had holes that needed to be stitched. The $5 cost was reasonable and the quality was exceptionally. Can't even tell I wore them dancing and pretty much did this to myself. No more wearing favorite socks on the dance floor. But if I forget at least I have a sock savior. read more

To their credit they did follow up to my comment (months later) and here are my responses inline (with quotes): " Dear Kevin, We have tried to contact you numerous time to find out why you are claiming on such statement. Unfortunately despite our effort to contact you, you did not return our phone calls or our email to you via YELP." I received I two phone calls from you *months* ago. The one I answered by your representative with no new updates simply asking me to take the review down. ONE of my items was eventually found but the more expensive item was never returned. I say eventually because it took 4-6 weeks to get it back. Further. You have my address on file. Why didn't you simply send me a letter via the mail if it was so urgent. I often let unknown numbers go to voicemail but there are NO unhandled voicemails by your company. Frankly I bleive your statements are false. " We have contacted the Concierge of your building to follow up the matter with the management, we have proof that all items were delivered to you! " Great. Post scanned copies of said proof. " There is a signed paper by your building concierge that no item is missing from the load that you dropped off. If you do not wish to continue having us to do your laundry that is fine, but making false statement in the public it is not professional. Slandering a business without allowing them to address the issue is not proper way of communication." For starters, you're using the word 'slander' incorrectly. The correct term is defamation or libel. However, my review is correct. I did allow your company to correct this issue. I made numerous calls to your company to rectify the problem. At the time it seemed as if you had NO process in place to correct for lost items as everyone I talked to seemed irritated and confused when dealing with this issue. I finally DID receive one of my items back but only after weeks of it being lost. " We wish you all the best and we are positive that you have lost your staffs elsewhere since we have proof that we delivered every thing to you." One of my items was returned. The other was not. Both are expensive items. At this point. I don't care. I've written it off. The only reason I'm responding to this post is because you essentially called me a liar and said that I was slandering your business. I have no financial incentive to do so nor do I care other than to warn others away from your business. Do not go here!!!! They shrunk my sweaters, denied it, offered me no money back, basically made me feel like they did nothing wrong. They tore a hole in one of my sweaters denied it, offered to fix it if I paid! Rude service and not respectful. My gut tells me a lot of the positive reviewers are fakes. When you damage property your legal duty to refund for services and they are breaking the law and I highly advise you to avoid this place at all costs. They also said it was the first time!! AVOID AT ALL COST!! I should have checked out the YELP reviews prior to using their services. It's incredible how low this place has been rated but rightfully so. I've never given a bad review until now. I dropped off my FRAME jeans to be dry cleaned and I received them damaged. There is a huge tear across the backside and impossible to hide. Shohreh, presumably the owner, told me not to worry and that she would make certain I was reimbursed for the cost of my jeans. She was so reassuring that I didn't think I had anything to worry about. Boy was I wrong. After weeks of going back and forth, not only would no one take responsibility for damaging my jeans, but I was charged for its cleaning! Shohreh passed off the blame to the third-party (ELEGANT CLEANERS) that she sourced the dry cleaning to. Hamid and Marci Jarcia at Elegant Cleaners passed off the blame to the manufacturer of the jeans stating that the bleach in the fabric caused the rip (I have a letter to prove it). I contacted Intermix and FRAME and they said they've never had any such complaints. When I dropped off my garment I was never told that the cleaners outsourced their dry cleaning. I made my transaction with Soma Cleaners 1 and as such they are the ones responsible for its safekeeping. They can seek reimbursement from Elegant Cleaners on their own accord, it has nothing to do me. Now, I'm out a pair of jeans that I had bought for a special occasion and to be honest I'm over the lost cost but can't get over how I was treated at the store when I was told that they couldn't just pay back any "bum off the street" that walks in through their door. THIS CLEANERS IS TERRIBLE. THEY RUIN YOUR CLOTHES AND THEN TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT AND THEN TREAT YOU LIKE A CRIMINAL! DONT EVER PATRONIZE THIS PLACE EVER I took a suit to the alterations department; for a minor alteration. The suit trousers were irreparably damaged in the alteration process, and the fabric was ripped in several places....they cannot be re woven or reseamed. The suit had never been worn. Adding to my anger, the tailor told me that the suit had been damaged before I brought it in. Believe me, Bergdorff Goodman, where I bought the suit, would never have let it out of their tailor shop in this condition. I had never worn the suit, and it is very clear the tailor/seamstress attempted to blame someone else, in an evil and dishonest way, which upset me further. Adding insult to injury, the suit cost $13,000, hand tailored by Kiton, Naples Italy. The management of the cleaners finally returned my call, attempted to treat me like a criminal for expressing my anger at the staff. He lied about things I said. He demanded the $52.00 I owe him for the cleaning and failed to address any of the issues I requested, in particular, the irreparable damage he did to my suit. Instead, he went into a long diatribe about what wonderful work the SOMA cleaners does, without ever addressing even the possibility of damage to my suit. It is clear that the cleaners is un familiar with how to work with fine fabrics, when they ripped open the seam for alteration, they pulled the fabric (which is usually, but not in this case), stronger than the thread. Not being the case, the thread was stronger, and the trousers were ripped, irreparably. SOMA remains unwilling to help, or even address the matter, instead, attempting to blame me, the customer. Soma Cleaners may sound like an average dry cleaners, but it way more than that. The staff and service at this dry cleaners is fantastic! I had a last minute alterations emergency the week of my wedding and took my dress to Shohreh. Since the dress was beaded all over she was forced to do the entire alteration by hand and rushed my order so it would be ready in time for my big day plus she didn't charge me anything additional for the express service! The dress fits perfectly and I can't thank her enough! I trust this place with all of my clothing and would recommend it to everyone! read more

I have been going for 2 years and have had everything from zippers being replaced on jeans to tailoring on quality men's suites. They launder all my dress shirts and dry clean all my suites. They got gum off of my leather jacket. GUM!!!!!! And it was not returned with any damages. I have taken my clothes here many times, and they are very reasonably priced, and the staff is so friendly. I've had zippers fixed, and pants altered, and everything has come back perfectly. This review is actually a 4.5 star review. It's not 5 stars only because there was one dress that they couldn't get some stains out of, but they aren't miracle workers here people! Convenient location and reasonable prices for downtown. I had stubborn stain on my jacket that they were not able to remove but they were cool about it. Overall my experience here has been good. Don't dryclean here!!! I wish I would have read these reviews before sending my brand new jacket to them to get cleaned. I read the label on my coat that said "dry clean only, wrap leather buckle with foil before cleaning". I thought that was THEIR job to read the dry lean labels for instructions....one would think. When I return to pick up my jacket I find that they didn't wrap the leather buckle in foil and it was ruined and smashed and frayed. It was unwearable. I explained to them what they had done and they said they needed to send it back to investigate. I get a call 3 days later saying they had replaced the buckles with the SAME leather buckles and they proceed to tell me that it was a manufacture defect that the buckles were ruined and not their fault. I told them as long as the buckles are not replaced with plastic, I am fine. Sure enough, I pick up my jacket and they have cheap PLASTIC buckles to replace my beautiful leather ones they ruined. Uh, it's right before Christmas and I don't even want to fight over this...DON'T take your clothes here they take no responsibility for their errors and they try to blame you. read more

I requested a quote since I needed to get my bridesmaid dress shortened. I messaged through Yelp and the estimated quote was for $60. I came in and the ladies told me $80. I spoke to the other bridesmaids and they had their dresses altered for $40 at other shops not just the length, they were able to get the busts altered as well. Should've done more research. The ladies are nice, but you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere. read more
