The lady at the counter argued with me saying that the pants from the factory weren't actually 32 inches to begin with and gave excuses. We both agreed that if I came back with a receipt for the new slacks I had to buy, the store would give me the money back for replacement as the sign posted in the front mentioning that I could get up to 150$ back for damaged items. I later returned, and was refused the money back. I might be able to understand the tailoring issue, but my suit and shirts looked awful as well!! I let him know I had worn it for the first time on 5/26/25 for a wedding, about five hours straight. There was no damage or visible stains, but the inside of the jacket, specifically the armpit area, had a little deodorant/sweat odor from wearing it for hours. Jay reassured me they could take care of it. I had originally gone to another place first, I walked into SF Green Clean, which said they couldn't remove armpit sweat odor with dry cleaning. (To be fair, the woman I spoke with there was very sweet, so no complaints on her customer service.) That's how I ended up at Sonia's Dry Cleaners. Jay told me they'd be able to handle it, and if I wasn't satisfied after the first attempt, they'd clean it again at no extra charge. He mentioned if needed there were other chemicals they could use to get a smell out if needed/depending on the material of the jacket and that prices would vary if needed, but he looked at it and quoted me when I dropped it off for $25. I dropped it off on 5/28/25 with no rush order. When I picked it up on 6/9/25 and checked it, the odor was still present. I went back inside and spoke with Mary at the front--she was VERY kind. I pointed out the specific area I was hoping they could focus on, and she told me it would be ready by 6/12/25 and that they'd call or text me when it was done. On pickup day, I called ahead and spoke with Jay again. He was EXTREMELY kind and made it clear they truly wanted to earn my business. He even said they'd be willing to clean it a third or fourth time if necessary. That level of care and professionalism really stood out. I expected I might have to ask for a refund or run into a problem, but instead, the whole interaction was handled smoothly and respectfully. When I picked up the jacket, the smell in the armpit area was completely gone. It looked and smelled brand new, bagged and ready for the next event. It was in a clear bagged packaging and had a metal copper hanger (the copper hanger was encased in a wrapped paper like material but seeing the metal iron worried me because I've had old copper hangers rust/leave the copper residue on materials, thankfully this one didn't, but I also assume since it's wrapped that it's not meant to be hanging on it long term, but just an observation for someone who might worry like I do) I was originally leaning toward a 3-star rating because I had to return for a second cleaning and didn't receive the call/text updates I was told to expect (Mary did mention their system may have been down). But their exceptional customer service, especially the way Jay and Mary handled everything completely won me over. That extra effort earned the business 4 stars. (The dock was having to come back in due to it looking/smelling the same which was mentioned my main concern, and them not contacting me when they said it'd be ready both times) I don't know the price of more dry cleaning items but thankfully I don't do dry cleaning so often. I'll definitely be back and will update my review after my next visit. Thank you!

Laundromat is also very dirty and not well kept at all. They dryers appear to be brand new and the washing machines appear to be in newer condition. At least the dryers are .25 to operate. To sum it up, do not patronize this business unless you're in dire need as I was (visiting, on foot).

TERRIBLE DRY CLEANER. DON'T GO HERE! I thought it would work out great because it's right by my office and if you get your stuff in by 9:30 they'll have it for you at 4:30. But... they somehow put a bright yellow spot on one of my white dress shirts right on the front pocket and tried to pass it off on me. When I brought it to the lady's attention she seemed underwhelmed and barely willing to do anything. After I insisted that she clean it, because the spot wasn't there when I took the shirt in (I really just needed to have it ironed for an event Saturday night, it wasn't even dirty) she wrote up a new ticket and informed me that there was no way she could have it ready the next day (Saturday) for my event, that it would be ready Monday at 4:30. Wow. That's flexibility. 4:30. Thus I was out of luck and had to buy a new shirt. Grrrr! Then, when I showed up Monday at 4:30 to get my shirt whether the spot was gone or not, the lady informed me that my shirt wasn't even there!! "Where is it?" "It's not here." "Why not? You told me Monday at 4:30." "It's not here." Well when Will it be here?" "Tomorrow." "You told me it would be here today and it's not, how do you know it will be here tomorrow?" "I'll call them right now." Which she did. And it was there the next day. With the spot less glaring than the last time I had seen it, but still there nevertheless. So to recap... Where guys would bring their suits and collared shirts and gals had skirts, shirts, pants, and jackets that needed to be dry cleaned or washed, those days are gone. And with the change in the last fifteen months, who really does work in the Financial District anymore. Since this store is near where I have work stops on a regular basis, I will bring collared shirts and my dry clean needs here on occasion. I believe they used to be on Kearny Street, but rising rents likely moved them here. I recently had a polo shirt that I put in a bad location and it fell onto a sticky situation... literally. While in the garage, a sticky mouse trap was the culprit of a stain to the back of this shirt. Not wanting to toss the shirt, I sought their help in removing and cleaning the stain. I went on a Thursday and spoke to a young lady who looked at my stain and told me she couldn't help me. I am going to my other go-to spot in the Richmond District that is pricier but probably more knowledgeable in handling this difficult stain. Fingers crossed as I'd like to wear this shirt during the baseball playoffs to root our home team on. Still, I will continue to support neighborhood businesses like this though they may not be able to solve all my cleaning needs. Oh, by the way, Go Giants!

When I came to pick them up on Saturday (May 24), I found a note on the door saying they were closed for the entire Memorial Day weekend--despite their Google and Yelp listing showing that they were open. No website, no online update, and no way to know in advance. I had even commuted in just to pick up my items. After leaving a review, the owner called me and agreed to meet on Memorial Day to let me pick up my clothes. I truly appreciated her making that effort, but she was clearly annoyed, and I was told I was "lucky" to get my items because she had cut her trip short (though not because of me). I explained that as a former business owner myself, I know how important it is to keep posted hours accurate online. She said she didn't know how to update Google and Yelp and that she usually relies on other customers to do it for her--which I find concerning for any business. Another thing customers should be aware of: the fine print on their receipt states that they're not responsible for items after 30 days. The owner appears to take that policy very seriously and mentioned that she reserves the right to dispose of items if they're not picked up within that time. That's not something most people think to check, and with such limited hours, it can be a challenge to get in and retrieve your belongings in time--especially if no one answers the phone or updates closures online. I'm thankful I got my items, but the overall communication and attitude left a lot to be desired. I hope they take this as constructive feedback and start keeping their Google and Yelp hours current so others don't go through the same frustration.

I managed to locate Marvel Cleaners, in walking distance to me, and headed over on one of the days they list on their site for when a tailor is available. A really awesome lady came to help me and she gave me a private spot to change into the pants I needed hemmed. She was super fast on pinning and I gave her a few instructions for the changes I wanted, since it was a bit more complex than just shortening them (redo the tied parts on the bottom, plus move some of the buckles up instead of cutting them off). She gave me an estimate of three days which was way faster than I was expecting. I came back on the appointed day, and the same awesome lady looked up my order and got my pants out for me. They were perfect, it was exactly what I was hoping to see: shortened, ties still around the bottom of the legs, and buckles lifted up a tad! I tried them on when I got home and they fit just the way I wanted. Between the price, the speedy service, and the super friendly staff, I'm keeping this place on my list for whenever I need repairs or custom tailoring.

I told him this is the second time it has happened and don't you think i would notice it when I unbuttoned my dress shirt of which I have to take my watch off first. He didn't want to hear any of it. Cold, no emotion, it was disturbing. Again, he never made an offer to try cleaning it again. So bizarre. I told him that just prior to the last time this happened it seems you are using a new "plant" to do the cleaning. I mentioned that there is now a plastic clip on the shirts and you were aggressive in asking me to allow my initials on the shirts so the shirt can't be lost. He denied changing to another plant. I also notice this store isn't paying to be on Yelp anymore. A year ago, he was on Yelp as a highly rated dry cleaner. Why stop paying Yelp to be on Yelp? Lastly, this place is not inexpensive and you would expect to be treated better for how much and how long I've been there. This is my first Yelp review and I hope you read the other negative ratings about this business as they are on point. I write this today, 4/26/26.
