My go-to is the Salmon Green Goddess Salad - the salmon is marinated and delicious and is never overcooked and dry. The ingredients always taste super fresh and the dressing is lightly creamy and delicious. I always appreciate a well-oiled operation. They have separate registers for eat in and take out/order ahead which keeps any lines moving fast and efficiently. When I order to-go, I never wait more than a couple minutes for my food. Lastly, I love the decor and ambiance at Soma Eats. The copper bar is beautiful and the turquoise accents are fun and interesting. All around a great new addition to the lunch rotation. read more

This place is super cool. It's a hipster sandwich and salad bar with an AMAZING wine and beer selection. You'll probably have to wait in line for your food, but the service is fast and there were a surprising amount of tables for 2 people available when we got there, regardless of the line. I had the roasted vegetable salad which was good. It had lots of eggplant, peppers, onions and tomatoes and as topped with parmesan cheese. My husband had the pulled pork sandwich which was more delicious than mine, but I'm trying to eat less meat. We didn't end up ordering alcohol, but I loved looking at their massive selection. Happy to have a new dining option in the neighborhood! Welcome! I decided to pop in during my lunch break to check this place out. The menu is fresh and healthy. I opted for the Salmon Salad with their homemade Greek Goddess dressing. The salad was tasty and the portion was good for a to go lunch. I noticed that if you dine-in the salad portion does appear to be a big bigger. They had a large selection of beers and wines, which makes it a great place for a quick happy hour after work! The space is large, airy, and clean. The staff was great and my order was processed really quickly. Even with four or five people behind the counter, I waited 10 minutes with no one even acknowledging me. I finally gave up and went to Anchor and Hope around the corner. A group of us had lunch there today and it was just ok. I had the New Greek salad - it was overpowered by the tapenade and the mixt greens were brownish and a bit slimy. My double ginger cookie tasted more savory than sweet (and not very cookie-like). Everyone's order was pretty meh (pulled pork sandwich, jerk chicken sandwich, spinach & goat cheese salad). However, the person who ordered the lamb sandwich said it was pretty good (so maybe stick to the lamb if you eat here). Really good guy that helped us out. I don't see wine flights a lot (or I just don't go to the places that serve them) so I was excited about this! However they were all out of the Pinot Grigio which was a bummer cause I don't do Chardonnay. Bae got a beer flight and we sat outside since it was such a beautiful day in the city and it was pretty stuffy inside the bar. The wines I got were on tap I believe, the reds were tasty but with the nice weather I always want a white, so the Rose was definitely my favorite. The bartender was patient, he gave suggestions and even let us sample the ones we weren't sure we wanted to commit to on our wine and beer flights. Stopped in here for a quick dinner after work. I ordered the eggplant sandwich and my boyfriend got the spinach date and goat cheese salad. I loved my sandwich, the ciabatta was so fresh each bite was a little piece of heaven. The roasted eggplant paired with the goat cheese spread and aioli was delicious and I would have happily eaten another after finishing my meal (but I didn't). My boyfriend's salad was huge and the ingredients were so fresh, the chicken especially tasted better than any casual dining place I've ever been to. All in all I love the high quality casual experience that Soma Eats offers. They prove that just because a restaurant is fast and casual does not mean that the food has to be subpar. I ordered my team breakfast here via EZCater. The breakfast options are ah-mazing especially the breakfast egg sandwiches. My favorites are: The Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich: it has Scrambled eggs, topped with American cheese and maple bacon on toasted ciabatta And.. Spiced Breakfast Burrito: Scrambled eggs, spiced potatoes, Peppedew peppers and American cheese wrapped and pressed in a flour tortilla. You can tell the eggs are pasteurized and fresh.. the maple bacon is sweet and salty.. just enough salt that makes you want more.. the burrito is spicy enough that you can probably eat 5 more. As for lunch, I'm obsessed with their Baked Salmon Green Goddess Salad: it's got baked salmon, avocado, cherry tomatoes, shredded carrots, mixed greens, baby kale and romaine with a creamy basil dressing. The salad may sound basic because of the ingredients but the salmon and the creamy basil dressing makes it soooo appetizing.. it's soooo good! Whenever I crave salmon for dinner, I usually go after work and get the salad. It's about $12.. decent price for a salad and with a great protein. Yum! I work fairly close by to this eatery, but have never been. At around 12:45, I decided to grab lunch. There was NO line at that time and plenty of tables. I feel like I really lucked out, since this is a recipe for a popular spot. I ordered the salmon nicoise sandwich, with salmon, egg, garlic aioli, etc.. It also came with a side of season edamame. I ate half my sandwich and was completely satisfied. I was able to eat the second half for dinner. It looks like there's a nice happy hour scene, so next time i will definitely check that out. 5 Star Salads are a reason to jump for joy! Came here with a lunch group and every single person ordered the same thing. That was the first time that that's ever happened to me. And guess what? We all loved it! What was this amazing meal? The salmon salad. Sounds simple right? Wrong! There are many ways that this salad could have gotten messed up. Is there anything worse than dry salmon or a soggy salad? Nope. Didn't think so. This salad was neither. Honestly, the best part was the Green Goddess Dressing! I was worried that it would be a little too thick and creamy, but it was neither. It added just the right fresh flavor to my bowl of healthiness. Unfortunately, I couldn't eat the entire thing. I'm sitting at Soma Eats right now waiting for a friend to get off work, so I thought I might as well write a review. The food was surprisingly good. I've heard a lot of people talk about this place so I'm glad I had the chance to hit up this joint today. To start off, the space is huge with high ceilings and a vast selection of beer and wines in the back. I ordered the turkey meatloaf sandwich, which tasted amazing when I first bit into it. The Indian spices were unique and flavorful. I would highly recommend it if you're hungry and in the mood for some "comfort" food. I also had the Greek salad which was a whopping $12 but I suppose it was a decent portion. I can't fathom how people blow money on expensive salads everyday... Anyway, I also had the tomato soup here, the soup of the day. This was really heavy and gross, which is why I deducted one star. The soup texture was more like gravy sauce. Also, it tasted spicy! SOMA Eats is my go-to salad spot. Sometimes I wake up in the mornings already knowing that I'm going to get SOMA Eats for lunch. I always order the Salmon Goddess Salad + goat cheese. There have been a few times where I consider getting some other items on the menu, but I honestly love the salmon salad so much I always end up ordering it anyways. Not only does the cafe have great salads/food, but they also have a huge alcohol selection (bottles to take home). I wouldn't plan on coming here to get wines, because I feel like their wine is extremely overpriced and you can find huge selections elsewhere. BUT if you're looking for a unique beer that you've probably never tried before, SOMA Eats is a great place to go. I was looking for a cafe to get some work done so came across soma eats during my hunt. Came to the place with REALLY HIGH expectations as it looked really nice. Started to order my food and since they only have mostly salads and sandwiches, I went with the sandwich and the lady taking my order said they are out of bread. WAIT WHAT ? how does someone run out of bread when half your menu consists of sandwiches and it's only 12pm. I'm not the type to get mad and leave a place if one thing is off so, I decided to order something from their breakfast menu. This was my first time here, so I stood on the side going through Yelp pictures and reviews until I knew what to order. With my Yelp research I concluded to order the TURKEY MEATLOAF SANDWICH. It seemed to be a fan favorite and now one of my favorites! AMAZING!!!! If you don't know what to get, there it is! Each bite was juicy and full of flavor! I was pretty into the sandwich I was sad when I discovered I didn't have any left. Also, a side of edamame comes with your order! If I could separate from my turkey meatloaf sandwich there are many other choices I can't wait to try. Usually busy during lunch hours, but food is made pretty fast! Admittedly an expensive lunch but worth the splurge when you are 1) needing a relatively fast lunch 2) wanting it to be pretty healthy and 3) willing to put up with fairly limited selection. The salmon goddess salad and new Greek (rotisserie chicken) are both substantive enough to be lunch entrees and do a good job including a lot of variety and good level of dressing. The pulled pork sandwich - served hot! - is a satisfying complement if you're visiting SOMA Eats with a sharing minded friend. An extensive cooler of non alcoholic and alcoholic drinks makes for a good picnic stop if the day is nice and you happen to eat the food outside. Or if you just forgot you were supposed to bring a 6-pack to that potluck downtown. Lineup at lunchtime seems long and intimidating but it moves quickly and the limited menu makes production speedy. If you want to dine there for whatever reason make sure you schedule your meal before 11:30 or after 2. The space is small and they get crowded! read more

Just tried this place on 2nd and Howard that just opened. It has everything I could want for a quick pickup from morning to evening. Coffee and oatmeal for breakfast, lamb sandwich (super tasty by the way) for lunch and a great beer and wine selection to grab on the way home from work - or happy hour with your buddies. The staff was friendly and helpful. Service was fast and the ambiance is really nice with a Mediterranean flair. Looks like they have a soft opening and will be getting more chairs and tables for people to eat and hang out. I think this place only gets better. I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised. So, I have an idea: Why don't we rename this place "No F***s Given"? (From this point on, it'll be referred to as NFG.) Let me state from the jump that this review is based primarily upon the breakfast service experience. The restaurant itself is actually quite inviting; the space is open, clean, aesthetically pleasing. I never mind staring at shelves of gorgeously curated whiskies, bourbons and scotches, but that's beside the point I'm trying to make here. My first impression: the gum-smacking woman on the register. (Like, riding shotgun on the Doublemint Express, holding it between her teeth while she paused, chewing it like Steph Curry chews his mouthguard during a time out.) Maybe her name was Jasmine? I couldn't quite read her gold name necklace. The gum thing is disgusting, period -- but hey, NFG, right? There are only a couple of people in there besides us, and the food takes nearly 15 minutes to come out. I see it come out and sit on the counter for a couple of minutes; none of the staff is paying attention. So, my friend stands up to go get the food herself. One staff member comes over to help, but we've already taken the matter into our own hands. No big deal. We kind of laugh, but then our gum smacking pal decides to visibly eye roll us. Because NFG. A suggestion about the menu: It really should list *everything* that comes on or in a particular item, because of people with food allergies or aversions. My friend ordered the Croque Madame, and when she bit into it, she nearly spit it out because it was slathered with mustard, which she absolutely can't stand. Nowhere on the menu was mustard listed as a component (and, to be fair, I don't know of many breakfast sandwiches that come with mustard). So, she asked it to be redone, and they did do that right away without fuss. And she liked it. Cool. The breakfast burrito sounds delicious in theory, but it's oddly flavorless. Salsa of some sort would make it way better. But edible and not terrible. Just meh. I couldn't help being super turned off by the attitudes of the staff here. Not the friendliest, and super aloof... maybe just a bad morning. We'll see. There were a couple of items on the lunch menu that sounded intriguing and delicious, and there are several 4 and 5 star reviews on here, but I'm in no hurry to return. It'll happen when it happens.
