This is a meager three stars.- more like two and a half. To preface this review, I'd like to say that my rating reflects the service more than the food(which IS delicious). The service on the other hand is impersonal and downright "mean!!!" Rude would be a compliment, in a quirky, new york city street vendor sorta way. Each time I drive or bike the 4 blocks it takes to get to this retro-tacky, lime green, rundown shack(which might I add is everything I look for in a burger joint) they have either closed nearly an hour early and told me to beat it OR I get this attitude upon ordering and receiving my burger that seems to just beg me never to come back. Buyer beware when you approach this innocent looking burger stand with the little old lady who will probably take your order.... She's anything but! Now, enough with the tangent-riddled slander. Someburger will never be my favorite burger. It is merely a thin patty and isn't a huge slab of beef cooked to medium rare, which is what I like. But for what it is, a neighborhood joint with quality food at an affordable price, it delivers. Though a thin patty, the meat was seasoned well and packed a lot of flavor. The veggies were fresh and crisp, and the toasted bun topped it off nicely. The fries weren't any better than a middle school cafeteria, but hey, I go to a burger joint for a burger. It's not what is on the outside but inside that counts. After a long day of working at the pool, the most logical thing was to end it with a burger. I had never heard of this place before but I was nonetheless excited. Someburger is mainly just small green shack, with nothing fancy. It doesn't look like much with only a couple picnic tables nearby. However, this is another one of those "don't judge a book by its cover" type examples. On the side of the shack the words burgers, hot dogs and fish are painted. Of those three words, the word fish doesn't seem to belong. However, eventually I would see what this "fish" they serve is. Once you figure out what you want, you can order at the window. Once your order is taken all you have to do is wait. Before you know it, you'll have a nice paper bag waiting for you. I felt like such a kid as I received my bag and rushed to the table to open it. Inside I found condiments, a very big burger and a nice little bag of fries. The burger itself was nothing fancy but sooo satisfying. The toppings were very fresh and had a nice crunch to them. The patty had a decent thickness but with it being fresh off the grill it tasted great. The fries were just your average steak fries. I assumed they were fried recently as they were very hot and had a nice crunch as I bit into them. My brother ended up ordering a fish sandwich, which he ended up enjoying very much. It looked like one of those fish patties you get at long john silvers. I can't say anything on the quality of the fish but it sure looked pretty good. It's really hard for me to rate this place as it doesn't fit into other place I have been to. The burger did not have anything that really stood out. It was just fast, simple and delicious. The best way for me to describe this place is that it is really good tasting fast food. If you are looking for a place to grab a quick lunch or if the weather is nice I would recommend coming here. One of my favorite spots in the Houston area for.....shakes! I don't visit Someburger very often and I havent been to the Baytown location, but everytime I'm in the mood for a chocolate shake, this is one of my go-to spots. Yes, I admit I have only eaten their burger and fries one time just to say that I have, but they were nothing special if you don't like frozen patties and fries. Their milkshakes are just really addicting. They're made with some brand of ice cream that I've never heard of, but that's ok. I believe they only have chocolate, vanilla and sometimes strawberry. Let me give you a completely different view, and I will freely prattle on about the great food, the deep fried goodness, and delicious burgers that have been cooking here for some time. First and foremost, when you see more than one cop car or Public Works truck at a shack of a place like this (and they are not there on official business) then you know darn well you hit the jackpot. I've been coming to Someburger since I was a little girl (I'm 31 BTW) and nothing has changed... except the larger parking lot and a few picnic tables. This place is not glamorous but it is a great place to go when you are craving a great burger but don't want fast food and don't want to pay $10+ for a fancy one. Everything I've had here is good, onion rings, fries, hot dogs... all of it! The ladies here work really hard and sometimes really late... so TIP THEM!! It's cash only. No fancy orders!! Finally tried this place. Awesome burger was just what I was in the mood for. Didn't want a fancy gourmet style burger, was wanting a simple diner style burger. Burger was juicy and seasoned. Fries were alright, I should have tried the onion rings those looked pretty great. Defiantly on my stop by again soon list. First time here. I got the combo cheese burger . I really enjoyed it, the drink was small but the burger made up for it . Filled me up. I'll give it a 4 stars only because the staff members aren't very talkative/friendly to new customers and very chatty with regulars. I've driven by this tiny stand at the corner of 11th and Studewood since moving to the neighborhood and finally had some cash in hand (and a hamburger craving!) so I dropped by. This is not a fancy place with friendly service. If you want fancy, there's plenty of places around the block. If you want friendly service, go to Chick-Fil-A. Yes, the people behind the counter are a little curt but the interaction is very brief so it doesn't really affect the situation much. The famous Someburger is only $3.50 and comes with all the bells and whistles but you can opt for bigger and cheesier options too. The taste of the burger was reminiscent of Whataburger but without the chopped onions it wasn't exactly the same. The fries were good but the star of the meal was definitely the onion rings! Crispy, big, delicious slices of onion... mmmmm. I may have to make another trip for those and try a raved about malt as well. The big problems with this place are: cash only, service, and the poor seating situation. The only seating options are two picnic tables surrounded by hungry pigeons. Haven't been since the early 1970's. There was a Someburger on the corner of Moore St. and Hays St. in the Near North Side. I remember watching them cut fresh potatoes using a wall-mount vegetable cutter. The burgers were cooked on a flat-top and you could taste a healthy sprinkle of black pepper (yum!!) Fries were served in a triangular wrapper, tied at the top. Those were the first hamburgers I ever had, and I remember them fondly. I have been going to someburger since I was a baby and my mom has been going since she was about 5. This place is AMAZING HANDS DOWN best burger in all of Houston if you ask me without all the extra stuff that people try to pass off. They really know what they're doing and they will not change for anything. For those people complaining they need to "get with the times" and accept card y'all do know this has been ran by the same lady for decades? She makes her own hours and had the right to only accept cash! That way she can get her hard earned well deserved money faster! This lady is not mean at all she is just about her business and in my almost 22 years of going there she had NEVER once been mean to me or my family. Like I said she is just about her business. Also people complaining about the long wait are we going to the same place? In my experience she has never taken longer than 15 and if she did happen to take longer that's okay! It's not mcdonald's where the food is sitting on a shelf all day these are MADE TO ORDER! You can't rush perfection. I was hanging out at a friend's place in the Heights and decided to grab a burger from here because it was within the walking distance from his house. The menus are behind the glass windows, on the rear wall. They have a pretty small menu selection -- burger, cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, and etc. The standard fare you'd expect from a burger stand. My friends and I got the some burger combo (SBB combo). We had to wait for more than 10 minutes for the food to come out. There were a couple of people in front of us but there was virtually no line. The ingredients are pretty fresh, at least the veggies. The toasted buns are a nice touch. The biggest problem about this place is that the patty is very low-quality and dry. If not for the dry patty, I would have given 3 stars. With tax included, it's a little over 7 dollars for the combo, which includes a drink. The consensus was that we would have rather gone to burger king than coming here. The food here is mediocre at best. I love Someburger, they have pretty quick service and the burgers always come out fresh tasting with plenty of everything on them. I love the onion rings too, almost more than the burger. The food is simple and uncomplicated and always is well cooked through and through, and still juicy. They are as cheap as fast food places like McDonalds or Burger King without the fast food chain bad after taste. I haven't had the shake, but I think next time I might just order that and the onion rings.
