My first time ever being here and I ordered something called Pollo Asada burrito when I first bit into it it was OK. The sour cream was not bad tasting, but it was supposed to be chicken and beans and rice and sour cream and there was absolutely no rice in it, and there was very few beans and the worst part was the chicken when I finally got into the chicken which was towards the bottom of the burrito, not distributed evenly throughout the burrito. The chicken literally had a smell like it was out of the garbage can it had a very foul smell to it and it didn't taste like really anything. There was absolutely no seasoning to the chicken. It didn't taste like anything And tasted burned If I could describe the taste at all.........I called to complain about the food and I will say the manager was very pleasant and offered a refund. I was not calling for that, but I was more concerned about the health and safety of the food that was served to me so far I have not gotten sick. I threw the rest of it away in a trashcan. I would've brought it back to the restaurant, but I was too far from , the place and ate half of it by the time I realized how bad it was I will not be back if this burrito is indicative of the rest of their menu. I am very disappointed in the Mexican food here. Basically old fashioned fast food from Mexico. My cheese enchiladas were barely warm and the shredded cheese was unmelted! The ground beef enchiladas were very average. They don't even give you a fork to eat with though. You have to go get one at the fountain. read more

I visited today during lunch break from work. I ordered the pollo fundido, it was ok not the best burrito you will have. The rice was excellent which is wierd because the rice shouldnt taste better than the burrito. I ordered a side of guac because they give you free chips with sauce which is nice. The guac.... gross it tasted like it came out of can not even home made. Come on guys not hard to make guac you cut open the avocado and get the middle seed out then mix it up with seasoning. First, let me start by saying, I like this place. It's one of my go to's. I think the food is good and tastes good. The service is nice and friendly too. Second, I'm not one to write reviews, I'm not petty like that. Having said that, the pic below is a carne asada burrito. Looks like a mess because there's more beans than meat. And it was cold or at least not warm. The cheese wasn't even melted. And it wasn't rolled closed right. I had to constantly fold it over. I've had the bacon burrito, hard shell chicken tacos and pictured is the soft tortilla tacos and rice and beans. Let me start off with how GOOOD this place is. The salsas have so much flavor it's crazy. As soon as you open the salsa up, the aroma just hits you in the face. And the green salsa is spicy as Hell AND flavorful which most places cannot accomplish so 10/10 for that! The bacon burrito was delicious and packed with flavor. The chicken tacos were simple yet sooo delicious. The potato taco was meh. It comes with cheese but I didn't want it. Otherwise, I suggest seasoning the potatoes. Salt goes a long way for such a bland vegetable. I think these tacos could've been on point if the potatoes are treated as a protein as well. Some garlic, salt, pepper, paprika, chili powder would turn these potato tacos into something SPECTACULAR. That's why I gave this a 4 star. Everything else is SO full of life and then this was just like, "okay what's next?" The salsa saved it. Anyway, this place definitely deserves a 5 stars and I will always come back. I'm so happy that Someburros finally opened up its North Scottsdale location; I used to live down the street from the Tempe location. It's a great place to get a quick Mexican bite that has better ingredients than a "bertos" style joint. The size of the burritos is not ginormous, but that's because you're paying for better and fresher ingredients. Fresher ingredients play a big part in compensating on the slightly smaller portions, but they boost the overall flavors and I can't complain about that. For around $6 I had lunch and didn't leave hungry. The Scottsdale Air Park now has another good Mexican restaurant (Habenero's being the other) that will leave its customers full and content. The pictures on here were kind of deceiving for me, which is disappointing! I was looking for a new place to get a veggie or bean and cheese burrito that was open somewhat late, it was between here or trying the new Senor Taco. Wish I would have tried the other place, because this didn't really meet my expectations. There are a few things I did like about SomeBurros. For example, it was very clean, and the interior looked much nicer than I had anticipated. I also liked that it was inexpensive and they gave us chips and salsa. The people working there were not all that friendly. They were not awful or anything, just not the friendliest. I ordered a Veggie Burro, was glad that it was inexpensive. Chips and salsa were ok, the salsa tasted a bit like tomato sauce to me which seemed strange, but it was not terrible. When my burro came out I was not too pleased. I mean, shouldn't expect much for a $5 burro, but I did expect better! The lettuce and tomato that was served with it was looking kind of gross. The burro was super bland. Like even the salsa did not help much. Just lacked flavor. Also I do not think it was big enough to be considered a 'burro'. I ate it all and was still kind of hungry afterwards. I did like that the avocado was fresh though, there was one positive. Overall, my experience was meh. I really like Someburros! I used to work near Pancho's which is the original restaurant of the extended family. Once I switched offices, I started going to Someburros because it was close to my location. It was only when I read the history of the place that I realized it was the same family as Pancho's - no wonder it's the real-deal for Mexican food. This review is for their catering and I wasn't sure where to post it on Yelp so I'm putting it here because this is the location nearest to me. We had a party recently and I was delighted to get more Yes RSVPs than I expected, so much that I didn't think I could do the cooking by myself. Queue in Lindsey in the Someburros catring office! With only 3 days to spare, we finalized a lovely menu with two kinds of enchiladas and two kinds of tacos, it was delivered and set up in my home complete with napkins, plates, utensils, chips, salsa, guac, rice, beans and sour cream. Lindsey was responsive by phone, she came up with creative ideas for me and the delivery team was fantastic. I will continue eating lunch there and will use their catering services in the future. This had to be the worst chorizo and egg burrito I've ever eaten. The tortilla was tough, the chorizo was burnt and there were hardly any eggs in it. I tried cutting in half and starting in the middle but no luck... awful. It even had bits of burnt potatoes and pinto beans. I think I got the bottom of the bin. Never again! There are several aspects of a restaurant review, the two most obvious are the food and the customer service. First, I want to address the customer service as we are in a very stressful time in our world and kindness goes a long way. Today it is 110 degrees in Phoenix and the large parking areas, covered in black asphalt are typically reported as 8-10 degrees hotter. I just walked about a quarter mile from the dealership and through a very large mall parking area while my car is getting serviced. By the time I got into the restaurant I was noticeably hot, holding my hair up and discussing the heat and difficulty breathing in the mask. As I was placing my order, I pulled the mask slightly away from my lips and nose so I could catch breath and so the lady could hear me. The disposable mask tends to collapse more on the mouth. Despite wearing the mask, the male working about 8 feet away jumped on the opportunity to police the position of my mask and tell me to pull it up. Apparently the situation was so urgent he also felt the need to interrupt the order, as well. Really!? I can only hope he experiences the same situation so he can have some decency. I was still wearing the mask and it was covering my mouth. Fortunately, Katie, who was taking the order, was kind and did not seem to have the same appetite for control. Thank you for being reasonable, Katie. Now, on to the food. It is average. I would probably give it 3.5 stars. If the service was good I may come by again if was at the dealership and needed food. Despite the heat and the large interior area, you will still be required to eat the food outside. This is not currently a requirement by the State. It is the restaurant's choice. Given the near 110 degree temps, and the policing of ideal mask position during your order process, you may want to go elsewhere. One other thing to note... I was the only person in the restaurant at the time of the mask review. I certainly hope the restaurant won't defend this level of policing and the lack of logic. It would be one thing if I did not come in with a mask and someone was politely expressing concern. Again, that was not the case. read more

I'm from Chicago where you can find delicious, authentic Mexican food everywhere (hint: none of it is in downtown Chicago), but I had yet to find a solid place out here in the Phoenix area near me. I'm a sucker for good Mexican food. First, I have to say that I ACTUALLY KNOW WHAT GOOD MEXICAN FOOD IS SUPPOSED TO TASTE LIKE. I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley of Southern California, and I've had A LOT of Mexifood. I'm not bragging, I've just been tricked into trying a lot of sub-standard stuff out here in the valley by reading artificially high reviews written by people who must think Taco Bell and the Frito Bandito actually have something to do with Mexican food.. I had seen Some Burros for a while now, and resisted going in because I don't eat donkey :) Seriously tho, I don't know why they aren't called Burritos, because the "burros" I've had out here are smaller than what we call "burritos" in SoCal...but I digress. THE FOOD HERE IS GREAT. It's fresh. It's prepared well, it's THE REAL DEAL. The salsas are OUTSTANDING. From a value perspective, It beats the hell out of any fancy mexican food I've had in the many cute cantinas with 20 kinds of margaritas. I've had their tacos, their basic bean and cheese burros, their Borracho Burro (outstanding) their Pollo Fundido (good, but not really my thing) and again THOSE SALSAS. You could put some of their salsa on a brick and it would taste good. Most importantly: Everything I've had has been prepared FRESH with FRESH ingredients and IT'S CHEAP!! Bottom line if you value the holy trinity in great Mexican food PRICE + FRESHNESS + FLAVOR, then SOME BURROS will hit a home run with you too. I've only just started my journey on the Some Burros menu, but I'm looking forward to trying a whole lot more.
