Absolutely IN LOVE with this place! I was treated like royalty throughout my whole experience and everything was nothing short of perfect. Our server had wonderful recommendations for drinks, food, and portions, and I enjoyed every bit of my time there. I love the cocktails here and the langoustine--which happened to be served up with the best potatoes I ever had. The short rib and gnocchetti here were also delicious. I totally recommend coming here if you have a show to see in town--or just coming here and taking your time to indulge and enjoy your meal. So disappointing. My husband and I came here to celebrate a special occasion and the service was absolutely terrible. Our waiter ruined the whole experience for us. He only came to us once to take our drink and appetizer order and the second time for our main course order. He was completely rushing us. He did not come a single time to check in on us or ask if we needed anything. Our fries were cold and I also tried grabbing his attention to ask for another drink and when I waved at him he actually looked at me and completely walked right past me to another table! He was constantly at the table right next to us and I kept staring at him to grab his attention and he was ignoring me the whole time. He was only attentive to the tables that were ordering bottle service and multiple drinks. If he would have checked in on us - he would have known that we were trying to order more drinks as well. The only time that he was attentive was when he gave us the check and came up to us twice to see if we put our card down. What an impression. I never felt so rushed to get out of a restaurant. We were trying to celebrate such a special night and it's so unfortunate because we don't go to places like this often. We went to Somerset for brunch on Christmas. It was $145 a person (drinks were extra). Given the cost, I expected quite the spread. Not the case. We were given a bread basket with 4 items (there were 5 of us) and told to visit the "stations" for our food. There were 2 stations (one for beef & one for chicken), plus a plate of cold quiche and some pastries. They had eggs, pancakes, etc. on the menu, but you couldn't order those. This brunch wasn't worth $30 a person. Absolutely terrible. read more

No Salt & Pepper shakers. If you're watching your salt intake, this is the restaurant for you. They don't even have Salt & Pepper shakers. Our appetizer of heirloom tomatoes was disappointing because it lacked the simplest of seasonings -- salt. And when the entrees arrived, 2 of 3 underseasoned, we risked the ire of the chef by asking for salt and pepper, twice. It was (eventually) provided as too little piles on two little dishes for me to pinch. Tres elegant? Or just annoying? Still four stars for a lovely decor, fresh healthy fare in reasonably-sized portions and a leisurely Friday lunch atmosphere. Was able to make last minute reservations on OpenTable with a few friends I hadn't seen in a while. This place is so beautiful! Their open layout is so warm and welcoming. The lighting is perfection, not too bright, not too dim were after a glass of red wine you're ready for a nap! Their restaurant week menu is perfection! I ordered the Smoked Beets tartare, the kale and brussels sprouts salad, grilled flat iron streak and the Chocolate layer cake. All the portions were very generous, which we all know is slightly uncommon during restaurant week. Everything came out fast and fresh! Somerset had one of the best burgers I've had-- it was one of those burgers that just melted in your mouth. It was so flavorful, I can't wait to get it again! Overall: absolutely fantastic place to go for lunch/brunch. The food is cooked beautifully, and the restaurant interior design is absolutely incredible. What a dining experience. Service and food are top notch - for the type of food they serve, it's quite great. I ordered the squid ink pasta and crispy chicken sandwich. The squid ink pasta was superb - the noodles were cooked just enough (al dente) and the flavors complimented each other really well. Shrimp was so tasty and juicy. Squid ink pasta one of my favorite foods now, partly because of this restaurant. The crispy chicken sandwich is like any other upscale burger, but the fried chicken exterior and interior are like day and night. The inside is so tender and juicy, and the outside is so goddamn crisp. How do they do it. I couldn't tell if the juices running down my chin were from me drooling or from the chicken, or both. tl;dr: definitely stop by! What a treat. Brunch and lunch here are superb. read more

They're ready for summer with their beautiful flower boxes and outdoor seating. I really wanted to LOVE this place. However, our reservation was close to the brunch cut-off and this immediately upon arrival we were told the kitchen would be closing soon... why were we able to make a reservation so close to kitchen close between lunch and dinner then?! The rushed feel painted the tone of the meal. This issue isn't the patron's issue. The food was good- but not amazing. The service was extra attentive since we were rushed to order, eat, and leave for them to close. The wait staff though trying to move our table quickly was polite about it and I recognize the circumstance is also not their fault. Hopefully they'll stop taking reservations so close to kitchen close. I'm willing to try again at a more conventional time and see how that compares. read more

One of the most awe-inspiring moments of my life was seeing the Milky Way from the bottom of the Grand Canyon. It was a nebulous band that stretched from horizon to horizon. When I think of restaurants and ratings, I think about singular experiences that really stand out like my time in the Grand Canyon. Restaurants don't have to be spell-binding to earn five-stars, but they have to be amazing in their category. I wanted to explain my rating of Somerset because they're good. They're a nice, hotel restaurant. Somehow their vegetarian dishes surpass the meat ones. For example, I highly recommend the beet tartare and kale salad. They're both exceptional dishes. The Hamachi Crudo and Short Rib Sugo Cavatelli were salty. I really enjoyed my brunch at Somerset but I don't think it really stood out from other nearby breakfast spots. The service has been pretty solid. Somerset calls me the day before to confirm my reservations and the servers have been personable, timely and attentive. They do this weird thing where they valet the food that you want to take home with you. At first it was cool to not have to worry about boxes of take-home food but then it was obnoxious when I was waiting at the host stand to retrieve it. Anyway, Somerset is good. Check it out if you're staying in the hotel or if you live in the neighborhood and want to try something new. The stars would have to align for someone to order all of the most delicious items in a single visit and to come away thinking that Somerset is a five-star restaurant. read more

Loved this restaurant! First impressions were that the decor was beautiful and the hosts were really nice! I wasn't able to get a reservation online and called and they were able to add me and my guest on the list which was super helpful! The waiter was nice but, she seems like she was new there so not many recommendations which was fine! She was definitely attentive yet gave us space to look at the menu and pick what we wanted to order! They have the QR scan menu so you don't have to look at a physical menu which is always good! I decided on the truffle cheese burger and fries - it was soooooo good! They served the brunch menu until 3 and various options but they also had some vegan friendly options as well for my friend and was told the mushroom sandwich/burger + fries was delicious as well (I was so happy to hear)! Their cocktails were really refreshing and pretty good! I ended getting the Gold Coast spritz and ordered two of them! The overall experience was nice and very mellow. This restaurant do offer patio seating as well; but we since it's mostly for those who possibly made reservations and we weren't able to get a reservation - we did indoor dining which was fine since we were right by the patio entrance area and was spaced out so you aren't sitting very close by anyone while you're eating. Also all staff wore their face mask during my time of being served which was great although I am vaccinated - safety is a must! I'd definitely go back again! read more

My friend ordered the avocado toast and we had the pop tart to share. There were plenty of options on the menu to choose from to fit your taste buds. I had been to Somerset two times prior than my last: March 14th, 2020, and sometime in September 2020. Both times incredible. But, the last time I went, March 30th, 2021 was my last. It. Was. Terrible. Usually, given I work in the food industry myself, its easy to give the benefit of the doubt. But I just couldn't. My date got the wrong drink: So, when we looked at the menu(which are the SMALLEST QR codes in the BOTTOM of the hand sanitizers) there were 2 beer options. He chose one, but LITERALLY RECEIVED THE OTHER. He doesn't like to make a fuss, so he just drank it. When asked if he wanted another, he said sure, and was THEN given the original beer he asked for. Without asking for it. Order was fuuuuuudged: So we decided with our drinks to order a couple apps, fries and crab bites. We were then told by our server that they like if you order everything at once. And since we weren't ready for our entree order she said would come back. We'll, that didn't really help none. She ended up only bringing out one appetizer, stating the other would be 'ready soon' ( it was French Fries....) Also when I ordered my food she stated it 'came with a side'. It didn't. I ended up paying ten dollars for the side that supposedly 'came' with my meal. The fries came AFTER I finished my meal. Over salted and pretty unwanted by that time. And my boyfriend NEVER received his meal. Never. Like, he ate no entree. Which is weird because she used a notepad and pen when taking our order. And when he brought it up, the server said that was 'weird' and went to check on it. Code for oh shit, I didn't put that in. She ended up giving it to him for free to take home. Along with everything that happened, the server never came to check in and see how everything was. My boyfriend had to literally call her name to get her attention, even though she was serving a table next to us. She just never looked in our direction. And when he said her name she turned around surprised. Like, sorry we had to do that but.. hello. Had we not had so many discrepancies it wouldn't have been an issue. My personal feeling about the food here was 2 stars. My friends were more at 4 stars with their orders, even though I tried one of theirs and didn't really like that dish either. So that's how I'm at a 3. The place was clean and connects to the Viceroy hotel. Our waiter was awesome and super chill. The entire staff was friendly. It took awhile for our food to arrive, but it left for plenty of time to people watch. The crowd here is very "I have a trust fund and go to the country club on Friday afternoons." I ordered the basic eggs, toast, breakfast potato, and sausage plate. The eggs were really salty/buttery and I couldn't finish them. I took one bite of the sausage but the flavor was very off. The potatoes were good so I ended up eating basically potatoes and toast, which was disappointing. My friends got the avocado toast and seemed to enjoy it. My other friend got the fried chicken and french toast. I tasted the french toast and it was like if a sponge cake, a bread pudding, and a cornbread had a baby. Whomever was in charge of this renovation did a fantastic job. It's where I imagine Gatsby would hang out. The location is just north of the viagra triangle & the outdoor patio will serve as a prime location for people watching. The service is amazing & the menus have just enough items to serve almost anyone. I ordered the "prawn roll" & while calling these prawns is a stretch in my opinion I sill enjoyed the dish. The bun is warm & slightly buttery while the shrimp, which is like a seafood salad, was served chilled. The fries were nothing special but it should be noted that they were salted to perfection. Because of the location & aesthetics I plan on returning especially to try out their many libations which include a "Manhattan" & an "Old fashioned". There's valet parking available but if you don't come in the evening I'd use patience & find street parking. On my second visit it was a "meh" experience. Had the burger & chicken sandwich which were ok with a view of the kitchen which was nice. The red onion marmalade was fantastic however the rest of the burger was nothing to mention. Our server explained the menu to us and offered us his opinion, something that is very valuable when visiting a restaurant for the first time. Thought this place would be a lock based on the restaurant group . We just came for brunch and it was one of the most absurd service experiences I've ever had. We sat down at 1234 and didn't get a waiter until 1255. Our drinks took 20 minutes to come. We just ordered a second round and it's been another 20+ minutes. We've been here an hour 20 mins and have gotten one drink. I understand it's busy, but the service here is enough to not come back. Food was good, but don't come for brunch . You could go to a LEYE restaurant in the area for a 200x better service experience. Also, there were two stalls with no TP, and they brought salt and pepper to the table with no pepper in the shaker. We had a lovely brunch at Somerset this Sunday. The room is lovely - huge tall ceilings with a second level overlooking the main floor. As a result, noise level is fine, and the room is very bright and pleasant. The other nice facet is a well-appointed bar on the main floor as well as the second floor - so no waiting if you'll be accesorizing your brunch with some of Somerset's lovely daytime cocktails. Highly recommended. Brunch choices were and excellent mix of breakfasty and lunchy options. As well as some swell brunch accompaniments which are lovingly baked - cinnamon rolls or coffee cake to die for. Or, and I loved seeing this on a brunch menu - oysters. Well played Somerset. For starters we had the smoked beet tartare which is really an excellent dish. Super flavorful from the smoky (why have I never had smoked beets before, earthy and smoky. Yum). For my main I went traditional with a ham and cheddar omelet which was paired with excellent, crispy breakfast potatoes and a nice salad (another lovely touch). Another excellent touch was the morning cocktail service, which can sometimes be a second class citizen. These bartenders were outstanding. Bloody Mary (which we prefer spicy, better to wake you up) was actually spicy enough (trust me, that is rare find). I went off menu and ordered a Negroni (because that lovely bright red has the perfect pop of color to accent brunch) and they nailed it. Definitely added to our brunch rotation. read more

Went here last Saturday for my 30th birthday. The restaurant did a great job personalizing my menu and free birthday dessert (see photos). However, the food here was average at best. Great location, but I just expected more. I ordered the kiwi spritzer (see photo) and the ricotta dumplings. The manager stopped by our table two times. Once to welcome us and then to let me know that if we brought in our own cake there would be a $5/per person cutting fee, but since I brought cookies they would only be $10. I told her that we could just eat the cookies later and then she waved the $10 fee. It took 30 minutes to get our first drink on the table, and overall I was disappointed with meal. It tasted fine, but like I said, I expect more out of a $75 per person dinner. read more

Came to Somerset for a executive meeting last night. The atmosphere and ambience was great. I know that the restaurant really wants to push their service and quality. It is there. I ordered the octopus for an appetizer. I asked if it was tender and was assured it would be. Honestly, it was rubbery and drenched with a sauce. It didn't meet my expectations. I had the duck and it was pretty good. Was to be prepared medium and was tough/dry. The reason why I give 3 stars is the value for the food. Portions are small and very pricey. A 3 oz pour for a red wine was $15 and 6 oz was $30. I felt the same way with the food. Value does not match the quality. read more

What a cute place. Arrived at noon on a Saturday. Next available seating was at 1 pm without reservations unless we sat on the patio or at the bar. We sat outside because they had heat lamps. It was a good decision because the people watching in this neighborhood is excellent. I mean, everyone was so fashionable and bougie. Loved it. The decor is gorgeous. It's stunning inside. The service was excellent. The hostess was super nice and accommodating. Our waiter was friendly and not overbearing. This place gets it. We got coffee, orange juice, French toast, and the egg sandwich. The French toast was amazing and such a huge portion. Two people could eat that for brunch and be absolutely fine if not full. The egg sandwich was ok. I thought the yolk would be more runny and I didn't love the chicken sausage patty. Huge portions, great ambiance, excellent service. I'll be back. read more

It's a beautiful restaurant, but it's quite expensive for the quality of food and has very hit or miss service. I most recently came here with my parents for a Saturday brunch and had to wait 20 minutes for a server to give us water (even after we tried to ask around for it). This may have easily been an off day for this restaurant, but it left a bad taste with us. The brunch menu has the typical brunch offerings. We may be back to try it again -- especially when the weathers warmer to enjoy their nice patio. read more

We had brunch on Saturday morning at Somerset, and it was my most enjoyable meal of 2019 (so far)! I don't give five stars often, but Somerset definitely deserved it. The restaurant itself is beautiful inside - seems very classy, but next casual and relaxing. The tables aren't shoved so close together, the lighting was good, and it wasn't overly loud where you can't hear your brunch companions. We sat upstairs and enjoyed ourselves. There is also a second bar upstairs for those who want to enjoy a quiet meal to themselves. As for staff - wonderful! Our server was fabulous. He recommended several dishes to us there were great, and he was just a very nice guy. He also refilled our coffee and waters without us even asking, which is super nice so you don't have to track your server down just to get more water or coffee, when you really need it at breakfast time. The staff was also good and actually would joke with us. As for the menu: we started with the gooey coffee cake and cinnamon roll for the table. I ordered the Gold Coast Breakfast with chicken/apple sausage, wheat toast, potatoes, and wheat toast. It was wonderful! My husband ordered their Fried Chicken and French Toast, which was also amazing with the sriracha honey they provided. Because I feel I should give at least one negative, I will say that we didn't like the starters that we ordered all too much. The gooey coffee cake was not super gooey and the cinnamon roll was very cold, which I can't handle because I have to eat my cinnamon roll right after it comes out of the oven for it to be enjoyable. I am giving them 2 stars this time around because the food was really good but the service was unacceptable. This was my second time here. My first experience was a few weeks ago at brunch and the food and service was excellent. This time, however, I did not not have the same experience. My friend and I wanted to enjoy the nice weather with a cocktail and some appetizers. Upon arriving at the restaurant, the outside seating was completely open. We were told if we wanted to get a table, we would also have to order dinner. Fine. We sat down and ordered drinks from our waitress, Erica, and it was going fine. My friend ordered an aperol spritz and Erica recommended that I try the kiwi swizzle (delicious by the way). From there, things went down hill. We ordered an appetizer and she immediately snapped asking "are you ordering entrees?" We responded with "we aren't sure yet" and she seemed immediately annoyed. We ordered the creamy kale dip and it was sooo good that we wanted more bread to go with it. We had to ask 3 different employees about the status of our order over the next 35 minutes and when Erica finally came back to check on us, she gave us an excuse as to why it was taking so long instead of apologizing.
