After we got told no at another place that closed earlier than their window said, we decided to check out this place since it said it closed at 11. We entered at 9:20 and they also said they were closing. We were dressed nicely. I've worked in the restaurant industry for 8 years and have never seen this. You seat people until you close. It wasn't even after Canadian Thanksgiving yet. Won't be returning when I get back to Jasper. They should be used to people coming late. People usually stay out from dawn to dusk in the mountains and national parks. read more

Given the late night hours, fairly reasonable prices and decent service I would give this restaurant 4 stars instead of the 3 it would typically get if it was in a city with many options. On a sunny afternoon, we chose to sit outside, especially as we had our dog with us who was not allowed into the outdoor seating area so we kept him on street side. We ordered the special Angus cheeseburgers with fries and the pasta dishes. The burgers were average, but and too much sauce made them a little soggy but they tasted great as we were starving. The fries were thick cut and satisfying. The spaghetti with meat sauce was plenty but too cheesy with an overdose of Parmesan. We had to pack it to go as it was too much cheese on a hot afternoon. Overall, good portions and decent prices for Jasper, the food is average. The service was attentive and polite and won me over to give 4 stars. A nice option for a family meal in the little town of Jasper, on your next visit to Jasper National Park. read more

The food is good, but the service is what makes it a 5-star review; our server Michael in particular. We came in after a long day of hiking (so we were pretty dusty, plus thirsty). Michael was very professional, kind, courteous, and attentive, everything you could ask for in a server. He probably refilled my water like 10 times in addition to being quick and friendly on all of our other requests. Servers at other restaurants should follow the example set by Michael and the rest of the staff here. Dining here was a great experience! read more

It's tough to find an good meal at a reasonable price in this town, but Something Else fits the bill. We had satisfying meals including chicken kabobs, lasagna, donair and bbq chicken. The food was good and our waiter made the experience truly memorable. read more

Tried this place for breakfast which was less than memorable. I initially asked for the shaved beef skillet. But the chef from the kitchen told the girl at the counter that the item was not available. I told her that I would instead have a sausage skillet. The sausage was actually a hotdog/frank. I felt the meal was certainly not worth the price I paid. I can't comment on the other menu items. But am sure that I would not recommend this place to other visitors read more

Traveled to Jasper from Oregon with my brothers and decided to try his place. The food was pretty decent, but the service was beyond excellent. Michael checked on us frequently and was very polite and friendly. Michael's customer service was what made this place five stars for us. read more

We visited Jasper from Toronto and decided to try the local Greek cuisine. We were not disappointed. We both had the chicken souvlaki dinner for our meal. The food was simply delicious and portion sizes were good too. The tzatziki sauce was tasty with just the right amount of garlic for some zest. The service is great and our server was very friendly and attentive during our visit. I didn't rate as five star since the prices are a bit expensive for dinner but the food makes this restaurant worth the visit. read more

Went for dinner last night based on Yelps 4 stars....and no stairs to get in. The hostess was going to seat us in a busy pathway but we chose a quieter table--LOTS of empty ones. The waitress was more pleasant but the food was SO disappointing. This restaurant wouldn't survive in most places with these prices. We've been to some equally expensive recently that were well worth it. I had the saddest spanakopita, rice and caesar salad. My DH had a ho-hum steak ,3 pieces of what were definitely NOT roasted potatoes, and a pile of green and yellow beans. I guess presentation does count. Won't be back. read more

Service was awful, and they were not even busy. Worst waiter ever, clueless as how to serve anyone. I have eaten a lot of lamb chops in my life and these were the worst I have ever had, by far. They were very tough and had no taste. The dish did not match the description on the menu at all. My daughter ordered a chicken pasta that she could not eat. It also did not match its description on the menu. We are not fussy eaters either. My wife also left half of her dinner. We could not get out of there fast enough. It's " Something Else" all right. This is a family run restaurant, a welcome relief in a resort town like Jasper. Food's good (I recommend the chicken souvlaki), prices are reasonable. We particularly enjoyed the side we shared of lemony roasted potatoes. read more

Very nice restaurant serving a wide mix of Greek foods, pizza, and pasta. Roomy tables/booths, full bar, friendly staff.

THE FOOD So many choices, but in the end my husband and i decided to share a pizza and it was great - that thick-crust homemade style. A nearby table was served the Saganaki, which would be super fun for kids to see. THE SERVICE Our server was friendly, the owner stopped at our table, we said goodbye to the cooks on our way out the door; the whole thing left us feeling like one of the locals. Went to visit tonight and the was about a 1/4 full. I arrived with 2 kids after a hockey game. The hostess sat us in a booth which a huge pole in front of it . Probably the worst seat in the house... with many other tables free after we received our menus we moved to a better table. Not sure why she would sit us there. The food was good actually good but when we finished no one took our plates -and asked us for dessert. We waited probably 10 minutes and could see the wait staff talking at the bar. Finally we walked up to the bar and paid our tab. I can't believe I tipped 10% . The food was good but it was disappointing as this was a night out in Jasper and we felt like our business was was taken for granted and ruined what could of been a good night out. Stopped for lunch on Canada day. Service was extremely fast, Jesse was helpful as server. We shared the calamari (generous serving) and enoyed the chicken souvlaki with salad... we asked for olives ... no charge. Could not finish my meal. Make a great dinner. read more

Good value for your money. I had the blackened New York steak and while it wasn't as thick as I like, it was very tasty and done a perfect medium. The roasted potatoes were very good as well. My wife had the chicken souvlaki and she liked it, especially the Greek salad. The decor is dated but it is relatively quiet. Service was very good. Wine list is limited. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's a great Greek restaurant. They accommodated our large party with short notice, and we had great service. The price was typical for a Greek restaurant, and the food was decent. We had saganaki and calamari to start, and both were delicious. I had chicken souvlaki, it had the right amount of meat, and a generous portion of greek salad. I ordered a side of hummus, and it was a bit odd (had small bits of green an orange in it) but it tasted ok. Everyone was happy with their meals, I'd definitely go back. read more

Ran into this place during a rainstorm. Was sat very fast and service was exceptionally great! Ordered the B.C Salmon Fillet and was divine. Fresh and full of flavor. Food came out fast and the portion sizing was just perfect! Our waiter Lada always made sure our drinks were full and made sure we were all enjoying. Definitely recommend him. We've hit pretty much every venue in Jasper over the decades and always come back to Something Else Restaurant. Great food, attentive, friendly service, pleasant Mediterranean ambience and decent pricing. If you're looking for a quiet little, romantic place where you can actually hear your dinner partner, this is the spot. Get there before 7 pm if you can, however, they often have large bus tours suddenly fill the place and it gets loud and hectic (I know some people enjoy that sort of hustle and bustle though). Oh, my wife wanted me to point out two anomalies: flat pop/soda every time (we don't know why) and their mixed drinks are not the best. Otherwise, they'd get 5 out of 5 stars. read more

Horrible experience. Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Firstly, I ordered the Jambalaya, which consisted of boiled shrimp, covered in seasoning SALT, on plain white rice. This is nothing close to the classic dish of jambalaya. Secondly, my order was messed up twice, as I am celiac and the waitress spoke so little english she could not understand what I could and could not eat. Now not only was I hungry as I was unable to eat anything, but I was forced to PAY for the meal I did not eat (as I could not eat it!). Yes, at this restaurant the customer is clearly not valued. Unless you can point to the menu item you want (and are OK with eating bland, kitchen-nightmare-esk food) DO NOT go here. read more

Had a family dinner, one of the plates was not to our liking. Mentioned it to the waitress, she then talked to the manager/owner and did nothing about it. When the bill came back, they had charged 20% for tip (without letting us know) and the tax on top of the price AND the tip. Horrible experience. read more

This restaurant came up as a steakhouse on Yelp- and it is definitely far from it. We got steakhouse cuisine here- but probably should have ordered off the Greek portion of the menu as this was clearly a Greek restaurant trying to masquerade as a steakhouse. The menu was very extensive- which always makes me wonder what they are actually good at, if anything. My food was OK, and my husband got the ribs and spaghetti option (yes, that is really a combo on the menu). His food was OK as well. I did see several people around us getting the Greek options and they looked very authentic and tasty. We ate outside on the patio that is small and along the street sidewalk. The couple next to us ordered saganaki, which with the wind and the inexperienced server almost turned into a fiery accident. She managed to douse the flames though before they caught her on fire. Our server was pretty unfriendly and the service was not great. We witnessed some other servers having similar issues with not being very attentive or good at their jobs. Overall- I would not come here again and would spend my money elsewhere that has better food for the price. read more

This place was recommended by the clerk in the health food store across the street. I walked around a bit before deciding on this place because the name and appearance of the place does not reflect the food. I'm glad I picked this spot. For my late lunch/early dinner, I had a skewer of lamb and Greek salad and pita bread which was perfect. Unlimited iced tea which was delicious too. Friendly service and unusual décor. read more

The restaurant was clean and had okay service. However, the food was pretty disappointing (considering the price). My mom ordered a lasagna for $16, and I got a vegetarian pizza (as I cannot eat meat) for $20. Description of the lasagna in my mom's words: one big fat noodle?!? My pizza was even more disappointing. Cheese pizza with raw onions, green peppers, and a slice of raw tomato on every slice of pizza. There was one mushroom in the center on the entire pizza. Simply, go somewhere else. There are much better choices in Jasper for pizza or Greek. Very poorly managed, unfriendly wait staff, and equally poor quality food. Our experience: We ordered calamari which arrived with raw batter on most calamari, our chicken was raw in the middle, and the pasta had what seemed to be lunch meat ham and frozen vegetables as ingrediants. The service was absolutely horrendous. Our male waiter from eastern Europe has bery limited knowlage of English and had difficulty knowing simple words like 'grated cheese please' and we literally had to get our own silverware and water. He was much more interested in talking with waitresses at the bar and on occasion would look at my daughter and I and openly mimic us on our cell phones and laugh with his colleague. I do not ususally have my cell phone in a restaurant but we needed to find accomodation for that night. When all of the above was brought to the attention of a young male manager, he was defensive and offended that I questioned the integrity of the food and waiter, then passed us the bill with no discount until I 'fought' to have the calamari price removed, which he eventually obliged. read more
