The Portuguese bread here is easily the best bread on the island. If they shipped their bread I would purchase mass amounts of it, it's that good! Not only is the bread here absolutely amazing but the sandwiches here are all made to order and can be customized in any which way. They have a great outdoor are that is conducive to sitting outside and enjoying your food. Prices are a little steep for a sandwich but it's well worth it! read more

Used to enjoy the picnic vibe and get a good basic sandwich here. Sadly this is no longer the case. I ordered the deluxe roast beef sandwich on herb bread w everything on it including avocado and red onion. Waited 45 minutes - changed order to go and found the only thing on it was meat, avocado and red onion. Totally disappointing after paying - 21 dollars for the sandwich, a couple of drinks and a small pasta salad. Bread and meat were excellent but it was bland and boring. Adorable place, perfect for an after beach picnic if you have time. We picked up sandwiches before our bike ride to Cisco, and even came back after the beach because we forgot a cookie (don't forget a cookie!) Definitely order a half sandwich, it's basically just a regular size sandwich anywhere else. Not a ton of options, but thats what makes it special- fresh, simple ingredients. The sandwiches are pretty darn good. We shared a tuna and 1/2 is really like a whole. Plenty of tuna, good fixins. What we liked most was the setting. It happened to be a perfect day. This was a great place to take a rest and hang out at a picnic table and eat lunch and relax. I got a veggie with avocado and didn't really see much of it other than what was on the outside of the plastic wrapping (really? its difficult to open) which made the sandwich really dry. It can be hard to find since it is behind a residential house but we had no problems, we biked over and they have a space to park bikes. The picnic tables and area to sit are nice but thats about it. I was under the impression that something natural is organic or at least not boars head. I got the sprouts vegetables and avocado. It was ok, the bread was ok. The best thing we ate was the cookie. Nothing special. The limp sandwiches are slapped together by Summer help and tossed at you on a paper plate. Tasty? Not really. Special? Certainly not. Remember that horrible sandwich you at at sleepaway summer camp? It's alive and well here on the island. From what I can tell the summer help are over from (insert random New England college here) and while nice and all, not in this for customer service. It does not take a rocket scientist to make a sandwich, especially ones as unimaginative as these. Pssst: Whomever owns this place...invest in an oven. Beautiful spot for a picnic lunch on a sunny day. The sandwiches were really good and huge- the half size was larger than a full sandwich I would have at home! Which leads me to one of the best things about this place- you can get either a full or half sandwich and like I said the halves are huge and so reasonably priced that this is probably one of the best deals on Nantucket! I had a sprout, avocado, carrot, tomato, bacon, mayo sandwich on herb bread and it really awesome. There are picnic benches outside and no seating inside. read more

There was some trouble ordering as the giggly girls I guess had a hard time with English. I think they were Russian, so there was certainly something lost in translation. I would have preferred my large half sandwich cut in half, as it would have made eating it easier. The organic popcorn in a bag had zero flavor and cost almost $5. The sandwiches are delicious but the bread is amazing. Sandwiches are gigantic and can be ordered in halves. The bakery is located a bit out of town so it is easier to get to with a bike or car. However, we have walked it and it is about 10-15 mins outside of town. There is plenty of space outside, and picnic tables are on the grounds for convenience.The oldest house on Nantucket is just a hop, skip, and a jump away from this bakery so it is a nice side visit before or after lunch. read more

I think they stepped up their game for this year. I don't understand why they constantly run out of matt fee tea. Why can't you just produce more or make more in the off-season. This happens every summer. You would think your business manager would be on top of that. You have a drink that could easily go national and blow up. It's so good. This place is over rated and expensive. The only thing this place has going for it is the fact it is on Nantucket Island so they have a captive audience of tourists. Sure the sandwich is big and bread is fresh but there are plenty of WAY better places to grab a QUICK lunch on the island. I waited 40 minutes to get my sandwich because people were lined up out the door and when I finally got it I wasn't impressed. Seriously, not worth it at all I asked for the owner to convey my feelings and "apparently" he was to busy to talk to me. The guy was a complete jerk. When I was a kid and we summered on the island, my mom always bought their herb bread. A few years ago we were reminiscing about how delicious that bread was and my mom said she tried many times to duplicate it with no success. I am happy to see they are still in business more than 30 years later! If the herb bread is as good as I remember you gotta try it. I called them and they do ship overnight, but there is a minimum number of loaves, and unfortunately my freezer is pretty full. read more

In the 90's, this was probably my favorite sandwich shop in the world. 13 years later, I came back with my husband and daughter, so excited to enjoy the best sandwiches ever. Much to my dismay, the staff was barely friendly and the sandwiches were carelessly thrown together and tasted mediocre at best. For 2 whole sandwiches, 1 half and a bag of chips, it was over $30 and none of the sandwiches were very good. Something natural is something special. The sandwiches are awesome and HUGE. I reccomend something natural for lunch @ the beach or anytime for that matter, they make great traditional sandwiches (turkey and swiss) and sandwiches that are not the norm ( curried chicken salad). A bit of advice if you visit during peak season, go early or expect long, really long waits. read more
