My friends and I came here for some dessert because I had heard about this place from various people's Instagram and facebook posts! I love Taiyaki ice cream with red bean, I use to buy a box of them from the asian market! But this was something different. The place smells so good, just like a donut shop when you first walk in. The menu/ flavor of ice creams change from my guess as the flavors looked different from my friend's post than what was on their menu. I asked for several samples of flavors because I couldn't decide what I wanted. I finally settled on milk tea ice cream in the cup with a taiyaki filled with custard on top. I got a strawberry and sprinkles as a topping. I saw 2 other girls who had already been in there leave with a brown box and I wondered what it was until I realized that I could order the regular taiyaki filled with my picking that was baked just like a waffle. I decided to get on taiyaki with nutella filling and one with red bean filling. Both of them came out super crispy and warm. I decided to save them for the next day so I kept the box open on my drive home so that the dessert wouldn't get soggy and put a napkin in between both taiyaki's so that it wouldn't get soggy on either side. I would absolutely come back here again with my boyfriend. It's good for groups but there's not alot of sitting room. They do have high table/bar with some seats and some tables outside of the shop but more standing room than anything. Pricing was great and fair. My friend and I came here late the other night right before closing and everything was still fresh and clean! She got the matcha ice cream with custard and the fish waffle cone and I just got the cup with sesame seed/Oreo swirl and Oreo/graham cracker crumbles. I was really hesitate abt the sesame seed flavor, but it was amazing especially mixed with the Oreo flavor. It wasn't expensive at all especially with how much you get and the service was awesome. 100% recommend trying this place at least once!! I always get the upside down (soft serve in a cup with the fish upside down)... cookie butter and ube swirl soft serve with custard filled fish. The custard filled fish is AMAZING... I'll be ordering that by itself next time (I didn't even know you could do that until today)! The soft serve is also really delicious (perfect texture) and they give you solid portions for the price (about $7). Excited to find a place solely dedicated to Taiyaki and it did not disappoint! I was pleasantly surprised by the different flavored ice cream options I could choose from: milk, milk tea, matcha, black sesame, ube, oreo and swirls of the week! I chose one of the swirls of the week, Oreo and Ube, which I normally wouldn't have thought to mix the two, but I really like it! I really enjoyed the fact that neither the ube or oreo had that artificial flavor to it (if that makes sense) nor was it super sweet. Ice cream was creamy and flavors were not overwhelming. Surprisingly, flavors didn't compete with each other, at least not to me. And they have different toppings you can add to finish it off. The taiyaki itself was pretty good as well. I did notice it was what some may call 'underdone', but I liked the slight chewiness combined with the crunchy exterior. And it held more ice cream then I expected. You can choose to enjoy your ice cream taiyaki right side up, like holding an ice cream cone, or upside down in a cup. Although, right side up makes it pretty for pictures, you may want to grab a few napkins because it melts kind of quickly. The red bean taiyaki is also really good and not overly sweet! Wanted dessert and wow, does this place check all the boxes. Super friendly cashier let me try the flavors before ordering. I ended up with the Ube/Match Swirl with a custard filling, everything she basically recommended. They seem to be making the Taiyaki fresh, once they were done, they call your name to ask what kind of toppings you want. They had maybe 6-8 different choices. I ended up getting matcha powder on my matcha side and crushed oreo on the ube, then they ask you if you want a macaroon or a strawberry. Of course I had to go with the macaroon. Getting the fish upside down in the cup is definitely the way to go, in the Houston heat, the soft serve melts way too fast. The soft serve was creamy and delicious. The awesome part was you can use the Taiyaki as an ice cream scoop! Everytime you want a bite, you can scoop your soft serve into the fish's mouth and have a bite! The concept is pretty simple; you choose one of the soft serve flavors and along with it a Taiyaki and toppings, all together called an Ah- Boong! A taiyaki is a waffle fish filled with your choice of fillings: Nutella, Red Bean, Custard or Taro. The taiyaki is the perfect soft interior and crunchy exterior addition to their ice cream. I got Milk & Matcha because I'm obsessed with Matcha anything and was excited to try soft serve Matcha Ice cream. Finally! Houston got a traditional style Taiyaki place. I do wish that they made them to order but it was still really good and still pretty fresh albeit not piping hot. I get that putting it in a cup is a lot less messy but I still can't help flipping it and eating it cone style xP You do get more I've cream though! Located in Katy Asian Town, this is a great spot for soft serve. This place is so aesthetically pleasing I can't even begin to describe it. So instagrammable!! They even have merchandising to sell, and free little decals too.
