I'm giving this location a 4 star because I love their reusable spoons with the taiyakj on the end. I've been to numerous somisomi's and I just enjoy seeing what new flavors they come up with. Coming to this location, it was packed for a Sunday night. Numerous guests were awaiting their ahboong desserts. My fiancé got the cookies and cream and milk flavored ice cream while I got myself a Nutella taiyaki and a custard taiyaki. I used the taiyaki to dip into the ice cream. It was fresh and very hot. I didn't have to wait long to get my taiyaki, too. This location is very efficient with their food. I would say the lack of efficiency is in the area of cleanliness. The trash cans were full and the floors were sticky. I only saw two trash cans in sight. Regardless, still a good dessert place for an after dinner treat. read more

I went to the Katy, TX location and that location also doesn't have seating. I'm not sure if that's a common theme. They do have a standing table that you can place your dessert and eat. I ordered the upside down with matcha and sakura berry soft serve and matcha custard filling. This was from March 29, 2026 so I'm not sure if they changed out flavors. Everything was delicious. I went here about a week ago for the first time. We were having lunch next door and I had never been, so decided to check it out. First, I feel like there are so few soft serve ice cream places, so I was excited to see this as it's one of my favorite treats. You can get your ice cream inside of a fish shaped cone that is more like an actual cooked waffle. It tastes delicious, as it's just a bit crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy inside. If you don't want the cone you can get a cup instead. I opted for the cone, and you can fill it with a flavor of filling, I chose custard. Then you choose your ice cream flavor, they have several such as chocolate, ube, cookies and cream, matching, etc. You can also choose from several toppings like sprinkles, macaroon, or cookies, etc. They also sell merchandise like pins. They don't really have seating, which I would say is a downside. I definitely think you should try it out if you like ice cream.. I'll definitely be back to try some more flavors! read more

Out of all three SD somi locations, mira mesa CONSISTENTLY underperforms in both quality and quantity. It literally makes no sense why the soft serve would BELOW the cup for the tayaki to practically cover the entire thing.... with that logic, people who order a regular hand-held aboong would only get enough soft serve to fill the inside of the tayaki.... I am an AVID somi somi consumer and have also been to locations in LA and OC, and NONE of them swirl as terribly as mira mesa. Every Tuesday we go to your 4620 Convey St San Diego, but on Tuesday June 2nd we went and staff informed us they were out of product to make the taiyaki. So we decided to go to 9168 Mira Mesa Blvd location. We walk in at 20 minutes before the business closes. Your staff offered no welcoming gestures or anything to acknowledge a big group of us. Not a big deal. We started ordering. First we were told they can't make the taiyaki Without any given reason then they said they will. It's like someone was flipping a coin. Like we've always done, splitting a soft serve cup into two at your convey location, we asked to see if we can do that and the answer was no. We asked how come the other location does it every Tuesday when we go and with an attitude we were told "well this is not the other location, go there then" then we asked if we can have Nutella on the inside of the cups and we got no response back. They just did. And charged us for it. It's the simplest thing and the staff wasn't having it that day. Not sure what classes or training needs to get done but that's not how you speak to customers. Not to mention this is not the first time we go there. And I wanna say every time we've done, the service hasn't been the best but this last time, it was a bit concerning. I've worked in customer service. I've done close to that job. Never once was I allowed to speak to customers the way we were spoken to. read more
