Updating my previous review. Went here today for a party a friend was hosting. My what a cute shop with delicious ice cream! I sampled a Salted Carmel ice cream and an Elvis ice cream ( it had bananas and peanut butter in it). They were both super, rich and creamy. I could have sampled more but decided on Strawberry cheesecake as I've had that other places and it sounded more healthy Let me tell you it was the best I've had, chunks of strawberries and cheesecake, this was amazing. The girl at the counter was sweet and very patient. After an afternoon trip to Julian I was looking for ice cream.  Sunny Scoops is located in a small strip mall in Poway.  Lots of traditional flavors to choose from. Decent ice cream, not the best I've ever had, but like the assortment of flavors. It seems extremely pricey for the portion size though. We ordered one kids cone, one single cone (and the volume of ice cream was literally almost the same, the single scoop being very small) and a 4 scoop sampler. This last visit (I have been there twice), the scoops in the sampler were TINY! The first time I was there they were pretty normal sized scoops and kind of filled up the vessel used. This time, they were very very small scoops and it was like all vessel and no ice cream. Almost told the server 'never mind' when I saw the tiny amount for $11 or $12 but figured I will just be taking my ice cream business elsewhere from now on. Family stopped by here for the 1st time, hoping to find a new favorite small business to support :) Unfortunately the service was not very inviting/friendly. There were plenty of wonderful ice cream flavors to choose from, but the one I selected was "too soupy" to put on a cone. No big deal. Susie runs a great business. We found this place by chance because it is HIDDEN. Even in Rancho Bernardo, and for 50+ year RB residents like me, this place is hidden. I've lived not to far from here for years and didn't even know this little strip mall existed and this ice cream shop is a total hidden gem! Came here for an ice cream social with our group of families from Mended Little Hearts, so there was easily a party of 18-20 people from little kids to adults. Your server today was beyond patient and kind, friendly and attentive with a wonderful attitude despite us invading the shop. The location is great with plenty of parking, the shop was clean and neatly and aesthetically decorated. Outside the shop there is a small grassy area with giant connect 5, corn hole and other games. I've noticed the place seems understaffed, especially in the evenings, which makes me concerned for the students working there alone. Yay, we finally made it here! It was highly anticipated since we heard about this shop from my daughter's dear friend Samantha. Coincidentally we come to the I-15 side of San Diego all the time, so I was very excited to see that they had finally opened on their Instagram page. We called our local RB friends up to meet here, and what do you know, THEIR classmates just happened to stop by too!! Cute seating, and fun flavors. Yay! Sunny Scoops is officially open!!!! We've been so excited for this place to open. Today was their Grand Opening and such a beautiful sunny day for this to happen....perfect day for ice cream!!!! Then again....it's always a GREAT day for ice cream! The shop is super cute. Staff are AMAZING!!! They welcomed us as soon as we entered. The inside decor consist of cute little chairs and tables to sit. It's clean and bright. On the outside there is an adorable ice cream bench to sit on. Perfect for taking pictures.
