I have lived in San Jose for the past couple of years, and have frequently driven past this place. I decided to finally give it a try today. I went in at around 6 PM, and the space-themed interior was so charming. I was a bit overwhelmed with the selection of water-based and milk-based paletas, but I ended up getting a bundle of 5 to-go for my partner and me: 1 lavender horchata, 1 horchata, 2 chocolate de abuelita, and 1 cookie monster. The lady behind the counter was very helpful. I've tried the lavender horchata one so far, and it was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to try the other flavors, and I will definitely be coming back for more.

This place had been on my list for a while and i After trying it its moved to my list of places to go back to. You can choose between paleta or ice cream. The staff recommended the Cookie Monster paleta which was amazing! 10/10 for presentation and an extra 10 for flavor the inside of the place is cool. It's got a space theme going on. My only complaint is limited parking so I had to park in the garage down the street. This place is worth a visit I would totally recommend.

I have been wanting to check out Paleta Planeta for the longest time and finally got a chance to on a Sunday around 8:45pm! Located in downtown SJ and there is a parking garage right across the street. It was not too busy when we arrived. Limited indoor seating. They sell ice cream scoops and paletas (Mexican popsicles) with very unique flavors. The staff said the Cookie Monster paleta is the most popular, so I ordered that with a half chocolate dip. The ice cream was very creamy and sweet! I liked how there was a whole Oreo and cookie inside the paleta - messy but delicious. Satisfied my sweet tooth for the night. Very friendly staff. I wish the store didn't close so early (9pm). I'll definitely be returning!

Today my friend and I were exploring downtown San Jose and decided to look up the best ice cream spots in the area. Paleta Planeta popped up as one of the top-rated places, so we had to check it out -- and it definitely lived up to the hype! Right when we walked in, we were impressed by how clean and inviting the shop was. The space-themed décor -- complete with an astronaut, LED lighting, and colorful wall art -- really gives the place a fun "outer space" vibe. When it came time to order, it was tough to choose because every flavor looked amazing. I went with the Fruity Pebbles, because really, how can you go wrong with that? It was like having breakfast in a bowl! The first bite immediately reminded me of that sweet, creamy flavor you get from the last few sips of milk in a bowl of Fruity Pebbles -- exactly what I was hoping for. They also have plenty of non-dairy and vegan options, which is a big plus. Shoutout to Mauricio, the owner, for his friendly energy and great customer service. He was super welcoming and let us try a few samples before deciding. If you're ever in the San Jose area, definitely give Paleta Planeta a visit. You won't regret it -- ¡Provecho!

Unique paletas ( popsicles) sorry are fruit and cream based.

I've been to this place twice. Giving it another shot. Good concept and great flavors but it's average. For me,It's not crave able. I'm sure it's great during the summertime. It's a big space with seating,no lines, cashier was helpful and gave us some samples to taste.

Delicious artisan paletas available in several flavors. Either that or you can get the classic scoops. They have a fun unique selection. Spacious space themed interior that's fun! Before they were available at food markets but I'm so glad they have a physical store now. That way I can get them more on the regular! Brick and motar location directly in Downtown San Jose on the corner across from city hall. Parking might be challenging depending on when you go. If you're planning on staying in the area for a while, there is a $10 flat parking lot around the block. Otherwise there's 2 hour parking garages or if you get lucky finding somewhere on the street.

I live downtown and have passed by this spot for a while! So glad I stopped in. Really clean and cool decor. Lots of seating and friendly staff. The Cookie Monster ice cream was sooo good and pricing isn't bad for a little treat. Will def come back. I love how the my have such a variety of options like classics and unique flavors.

Absolutely obsessed. Parking on the street pretty readily available free on Sundays. Right across the street from City Hall on the corner of fourth Street in Santa Clara St. Definitely the more fun part of downtown San Jose. Ordered: Kiwi strawberry mango Paleta Berries and cream Paleta Ube, Coco Horchata Paleta Chocolate ice cream Banana Horchata Paleta All of the platelets were absolutely delicious and fresh. The service here is really amazing. Everybody's super sweet and they say hi and bye to you when you come in and leave. In celebration of the name, they have a completely space atmosphere with astronauts and lots of fun opportunities to take pictures here. This is my new go to ice cream spot. When I'm feeling like a frozen tree, this is absolutely where I go. 100% recommend without a doubt.

4.7: Cafe oreo. Coffee base, with oreo and sliced almonds. Excellent. 3.8: Cafe Biscoff. Not as good as regular biscoff. 3.0: Gansito: with strawberry mix-in. 2.0: Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The cereal mix-in is rubbery.

Perfect little ice cream shop in downtown SJ. You can get a popsicle (paleta) and scooped ice cream. They offer toppings and drizzles to anything you order. I got a horchata popsicle and berries and cream. Both were so good! The horchata didn't overpower with cinnamon and the berries was a good combo between tangy and creamy. The texture of their paletas were perfect! Not too icy and not too soft. Will definitely come back!

Ask the Community - Paleta Planeta

Are any of the paletas vegan (no dairy, eggs, etc.)? I'm guessing that the water-based paletas are, but want to make sure.

Yes you are correct. Our water-based paletas are non-dairy, contain no egg and vegan.

Are all your selections eggless? We don't eat eggs and wanted to check before we stop by.

While we do offer egg free options there is some options that might contain egg. Our water based flavors would be an egg free option. Some of our milk based flavors might contain egg in the ingredients used.

They give you the option to put double matcha (for the honey matcha latte) which is a plus! The double shot of matcha and the honey pairs really well together. My first experience was pretty mid because the ceremonial matcha latte was VERY strong and bitter. I couldn't finish it and it made me super jittery. After coming back a few more times though, I found a couple things I really liked. The Crème Brûlée Matcha was delicious. I finished the entire drink. You can't change the sweetness level, which is unfortunate, but their recommended sweetness actually balanced the stronger matcha really well. The ice cream is probably the best thing here. Super creamy, perfectly sweet and really well blended. I would honestly come back just for the ice cream. The strawberry matcha latte was pretty unmemorable to me, and the hojicha was also extremely bitter. Service was good. The barista was kind and helpful, which I appreciated. You order through a kiosk, so there isn't a ton of interaction overall. When I first came around their opening, there was basically no line. After they started getting more hype, the lines became longer and longer. I think it's worth trying, but personally I wouldn't wait in a huge line for it. Overall, the matcha itself tastes authentic and is prepared well, but some drinks are just too bitter for my preference. My recommendations: the ice cream or Crème Brûlée Matcha. Those were easily the standouts for me.
