    Make Build Your Own Bowl
    Matthew D.

Sonia's is great! We stopped by today for lunch and had a nice time. This location is in a strip mall and has plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is spacious and counter service with plenty of options. There was a multitude of employees and our orders came out very quickly. For my meal I made my own bowl. This came with rice pilaf, a mix of grape leaves and falafel, tzatziki and hummus, along with pickled vegetables, pickled turnips, tomatoes, feta, and Kalamata olives. Everything tasted fresh and of a great quality. My only minor criticism is that I found the falafel to be a bit dry. However, with that amount of food for $14 Sonia's is a steal and I highly recommend you try it out here.

Sonia's newest location has opened in Smithfield. Very exciting. The food has always been great I made my own bowl today and it's was delicious. You can pick your base, protein, toppings, and dressings. They also offer lots of sandwiches and wraps. There is also a breakfast menu. Seatings is available inside and there is lots of parking. Service was very friendly.

We got takeout Sonia's subs and they were delicious. The chicken was fresh and juicy, the bread was always incredible and the sub was overall very delightful. Can't wait to go back!

The Atomic Bomb sandwich is my favorite: grilled chicken, Vermont cheddar cheese, bacon, and a garlic pesto mayo on a French baguette.

Every bite is the perfect mix of savory, tangy & fresh. You can really tell the ingredients are high quality & prepared with love! I mainly came for the sweets, was able to get a tray of pistachio and walnut baklava, but they had a few other sweets like lady fingers and purses as well. Baklava was very good, very nice crispiness that held up for the week. I would've preferred it to have a bit more nuts and be a bit sweeter, but personal preference. Got the cheese fatayer which is just basically a cheesy bread with some herbs. So tasty, really enjoyed that! Also got a lamb kabob which came with some bread as well. The flavor here was good but didn't blow me away. Touch on the dry side too. Probably would get something else next time. They've also got coffee. I elected to get the Turkish coffee. It was thick and came in a pretty small cup, about a 3rd of that is the grounds. Fun to try, but very bitter, wouldn't recommend this either. Overall, really cool shop that seems very popular. When you first walk in, it's a bit quiet and you have to wait for someone to come from the back to greet you, but be patient because once you're seated, service is attentive and available whenever you need it. There are lots of rustic-looking tables, which give it a sort of homey feel, and some tables can fit 12+, so they can definitely accommodate large groups. My colleagues always get something different, but I get the same thing every time: the grilled boneless pork shoulder and it is so good. The pork shoulder is a bit fatty and comes out juicy and flavorful from the grill - droolworthy. It comes with sauerkraut, but it's not your typical sauerkraut; it's more like a mild slaw with just enough acid to cut through the fatty pork. Also comes with your choice of side and sauce. The garlic toom is the only option in my opinion (of course, they have others), but get ready to have kickin' breath for the rest of the day. Others have gotten the lamb tongue, lentil soup, falafel, beef shawarma, borscht, pelmeni, eggplant rolls, and they have all been hits. Don't think I would ever come out of my way to this restaurant if I didn't know about it, but it's totally worth the trip!

The woman at the register (short hair) was rushed, dismissive, and frankly disrespectful. When I tried to place my order, she seemed irritated, rolled her eyes when I misspoke, and told me to "stop confusing" her. She also made comments like, "I know you've been to other places--my place is different," instead of helping guide me through the menu. It created a very uncomfortable and tense environment. I left feeling anxious, which is not something you should experience after a simple food order. In contrast, a gentleman working there was kind and professional, which I appreciated. To make matters worse, I was not given a receipt despite asking, and I believe I may have been overcharged. I ordered a Greek salad with added chicken and a chicken shawarma panini, and my total came to $50. My mother's order was supposed to be removed and paid separately, but without a receipt, I have no way to confirm whether that was done correctly. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and unfortunately, this experience fell far short. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and works toward creating a more respectful and welcoming environment for customers.
