Don't mind if I do do eat curbside the second it warms up even a little. This visit, I had the Supersonic breakfast burrito. It's a regular breakfast burrito with eggs and cheese but they add in tater tots, jalapeños, diced onions and tomatoes. It normally comes with bacon or sausage but I omitted the meat. This was my first time trying breakfast at Sonic and I think I prefer it to the lunch items. It was a hefty burrito. The eggs were good and I liked the freshness from the tomatoes and onions. There was an option to add nacho cheese for like 60 cents which I think I would definitely do next time. I also had a side of ched'r' peppers. They were pretty good but not as fresh-tasting as the burrito. I liked the iced coffee but it was on the sweeter side. The "good" ice bumped it up a notch. I like the option to order in the app, plus they have lots of offers and rewards. They had $1.99 cheeseburgers if you order in the app. Without the coupons, they are $4-$6 for just the cheeseburger. I'm not sure it's worth it. Plus I think we got a free fries as well. It's a hassle to download the app when you can just order at the booth but it's worth it for the savings. The food came out super quick and everything was correct. We didn't interact with the staff too much since we ordered through the app but they were friendly enough. True story: I have a friend who became convinced that owning a Sonic was the secret to his happiness. So, he tried to do a GoFundMe to raise the franchise fee that would open the door to his dream. It didn't work (unsurprisingly). However, it did make me curious about this fast-food chain with which I had no experience. So, one day while I was at nearby Franciscan I noticed the Sonic down here on Emerson and decided that I would stop. It took me several times to finally make this happen, yesterday being that time, and I can now write about the experience. First off, um, what's the big deal? It's fast food. It's obviously fast food. It's NOTHING like those retro experiences of carhops on roller skates or 50's drive-in experiences like still exist at Mel's Drive-In or The Suds or to a lesser degree Steer-In. You either have a drive-thru or you can pull-up to one of their drive-in spots which surround the building. Since I wanted the true Sonic experience, I pulled into a drive-in spot. There's a button you push and you place your order. The order is then brought to you. There's a credit card machine where you order, but it didn't work. You can, of course, also pay with cash. The food is then brought to you and you can eat it right there. It's kind of a weird feeling considering how close these drive-in spots are. However, it works. Sonic has a breakfast menu and their traditional lunch/dinner menu. I was there in the early evening hours and opted for a classic crispy chicken sandwich with tots. I made it a combo and made that combo a large with my usual unsweetened iced tea. The chicken sandwich was meh. It wasn't good. It wasn't bad. It was a functional chicken sandwich. I think part of it was presentation - it looked kind of pathetic. It tasted a little better than it looked. The tots? They are wrapped in this container designed to keep them warm. I found them undercooked and was disappointed with order size considering I'd upsized it. I would not order the tots again. The iced tea was fine. The cup size was generous and I like that they actually give you enough ice and that the styrofoam cup keeps that ice from easily melting. Sonic is known for its drink options and this was definitely the best part of the meal. There was certainly nothing craveworthy here, though it also wasn't really appalling. I'd go back, but I wouldn't rush back and it's certainly not an experience I'd go out of my way for. If I return, I'll likely try a burger and I'd switch to fries to see if it's a better option. The pricing is actually fairly reasonable, a definite plus these days. However, for those seeking a real drive-in experience I'd definitely try something more like Steer-In or Mel's Drive-In as they're more authentic about it all. Overall, this was a solid mid-range experience. I don't regret going, however, I won't be rushing back. The food was a solid, though unremarkable, fast food experience at a good price and if that's what I'm craving then I'd no doubt give it another chance if I'm in the area in the future. If I ever buy myself a franchise, however, I'll sure be working to give the experience more of the classic vibe and to hire folks who "get" what this experience could really be that would distinguish it from other fast food joints. In terms of accessibility, given the fact that much of this is a drive-in or drive-thru experience, it can easily be tailored toward one's individual needs. They do also note that they have accessible ordering drive-in spots and that you can request assistance if needed. So, that's a plus. read more

I have visited this location at least four times in the last month as my son has returned to indiana and is a fan. Usually, we just get some sort of drink or shake. We love the slushes with the nerd candy options. Each flavor is delicious. My son loves the sugar free slushes and loves that you can mix flavors. Recently, my daughter had the corn dog as she was super hungry and we were limited on time. She loved it. Said it was the best corn dog she's ever tasted. Each time we have gone, we visited the drive up. It gives us time to read the menu then push the red button when we are ready to order. Within minutes, a sweet blond woman arrives with our food or drinks. She is very sweet and efficient. Ordered a burger here a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it. Came back and saw the smash burger and thought it looked good. They sold me a burger with smash burger toppings as advertised but same patties as regular burger from week before, which I don't care for. I love sonic, it was near the college I attended and we used to make trips to it on a very regular basis. I have been to the one near martinsville a few years ago, but to my surprise I passed this one on Emerson, so I naturally had to make a stop. This of course is a chain and fast food, but it's delicious the are a lot of different food options to pick from. Breakfast and lunch/dinner options. It's set up so you park your car make and order and it's brought out to you. Or you can use the drive through, which i decided to use since it was snowing. I have always loved sonic for the drinks, they have shakes, slushees and fruit drinks. My go to, and what I purchased was a cherry limeade, I'd have it in an IV if I wasn't scarred of needles. Okay, I guess advertising and being creative with their food development got me to specifically go get and try their new Queso Burger. I have seen the new commercial at least five or six times and it really peaked my interest. This is a delicious hamburger! It was a lot bigger in diameter than I was expecting. The meat patty was about a 1/4 inch thick, but the diameter was as big as the palm of your hand. The burger is topped with chopped green chili and chopped, golden brown onions. The whole thing had a nice amount of queso on top. Not too much so it was not messy or dripping anywhere. This burger is so satisfyingly good. The whole thing was served piping hot out of the drive thru window. The bun was so soft and steamy. I hope it stays on the menu, you better go grab on just in case. I ordered food and got to the window and asked them to take money off my card and I would pay the difference in cash. The young lady at the window had to ask for help so it took about 7 mins before she came back to the window and told me remaining balance after paying cash, which was different than I was originally told. She explained to me she had to ring my order up with each item separately instead of a meal which made it more expensive. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager came to the window and said that they were already making accommodations for me so basically pay or leave. I was trying to explain to her that I was told a different total at the window. Me and my fellow friend were ordering food and when we had gotten to the second part of our order, a lady named Lily, had been extremely rude! I had ordered the Reba meal she asked aggressively what I said. I said I can order the Reba sweetheart meal and she then followed up with "would you like to add anything else?" I come to this sonic with my mom somewhat regularly when I visit her. Sonic has some pretty great tasting fast food burgers when they are hot and fresh, however this is pretty hit or miss. The last two times we've gone we had to send cold food back and got cold food again twice each time. Not only that, but last night was the second night I ordered a bacon double and got stiffed on the bacon. I'm not one to complain and it's only a few cents difference that I let it go, however my mom is a real stickler for fresh, hot food and her burger was room temp. We sent it back only to have another cold burger sent out. The kid I spoke with over the intercom working there sounded either high or about to fall asleep as well. I am never eating here again. Just had the most DISGUSTING experience! I ordered on the app to pick up food and once I got home was HALFWAY through eating my breakfast burrito when I found a WHOLE FLY buried and cooked IN the burrito. Once I got over the initial gagging and disgust, I immediately called the store. The individual I spoke to said he was the manager (?) but once I told him the situation he had no idea what to say. After reiterating how horrible and nasty this was he offered to refund my order price (the absolute least he could do and we will see if this has been done because I have seen no refund so far). However after offering the refund he tried to explain it away, saying they had fly problems in the past because of the syrups they keep there, but they hadn't 'gotten any complaints recently' are you serious?! That does not make me feel any better as a customer, and definitely leads me to believe this is an ongoing issue that is not being properly dealt with! I am never returning to this location (and honestly it will be difficult to return to any sonic at this point) and I reccomend others Stay Away. **update** Got a call from the store "general manager" today. He said in the 7 years he's been there he's never seen something like this. The one girl didn't really want to listen, she seemed to just ignore anything we had to say about the order. Eh. Really rude experience last time we came here. (Definitely the worst of my last few visits, but this isn't exactly an anomaly.) We ordered just fine, but the screen wasn't updating so I had no way to check it. Had trouble paying because the screen still wasn't working. When the carhop got to us she handed me an apple juice and two Diet Cokes when we ordered a milk, a Coke, and a Diet Coke. I told her and she responded with "well, I took your order, and that definitely isn't what you said" and just stared at me rather than offering to fix it. I about pulled away right then. I ordered a burger here and it literally tasted like rotten meat. After 1 bite I spit it out and threw the burger away. All the rest of the food I got in my order was cold and not prepared well. I also got a slushy and it had no nerds in it when that's what I ordered. When I sent a complaint to the restaurant, it took multiple emails to even get a response, and the management refused to give me a refund. They offered to "give me a free meal" and to "ask for the manager" next time I'm there. Like yeah I really want to come back to your garbage restaurant and ASK for more free food that will probably get spit on, and won't even taste good. I WANT MY MONEY BACK.
