Ugh- I want to like this place but there is something wrong with my order every.single.time. The employee that takes my order asks if I want a pickle with my sandwich. I always say yes but more often than not, I open my order and there's no pickle. Why do we even do this little dance? My daughter likes to get nacho chips with cheese as her side item with a half sandwich. Last week that was ok. This week, that is not something they have ever done or can do, apparently. Oh and that half sandwich ended up being a whole one. Yes I paid for the whole sandwich and yes the second half was thrown away. I was too busy checking my receipt for "no mustard" so I missed the up charge. I went ahead and paid for a full order of nachos and got home to find there was no cheese with that. So I paid $8 for some chips and jalapeños. I want to give props to them for having a veggie sandwich- a healthier option than many quick serve restaurants. Even though it takes an incredibly long time for them to make the veggie sandwich (no cooking involved so that confuses me a little) it is very tasty. I think it boils down to a script that the employee has to say, asking about rewards and a tip, etc. - there's so much to remember that they can't focus on the words coming out of my mouth (aka the actual order). If I'm supposed to tip someone to listen to my to-go order, the order should at least be correct. I've pledged to not ever tip here, which doesn't feel great but they have forced my hand in the issue. I did call about the nacho cheese and lack of pickles. After a drive back up there, they corrected this problem. I do wish they could provide a soft butter spread instead of small containers of hard butter that takes for ever to open them or enough to cover the potato and please make sure the potato is hot . This location has seriously went downhill. We used to love to come here. Tonight we gave it a try again. Pictures are of what is supposed to be a nacho basket app and a kids Mac and cheese. The nacho basket app used to be our kids favorite, now you barely get any cheese and it is chunky. The Mac and cheese looks disgusting and our child would barely touch it. I love McAllisters because they are set up like sit down restaurants with a large dining room as well as outdoor seating. I have neve been disappointed with the food or the service. The employees actually seem to like their jobs and they always seem cheerful and friendly. I usually get their "Choose Two" which runs less than $9. It can be soup and sandwich, or salad and soup or salad and sandwich. Today I ordered The McAlister's Club Sandwich and the Chicken Noodle Soup but received the Vegetable Soup, No worries, I like both soups equally well. I had them hold the Honey Mustard and the Sharp Cheddar cheese on the sandwich. The sandwich was excellent! The soup came with a package of oyster crackers. A nice surprise. The Pecanberry salad is my wife's favorite. Greens including spinach, strawberries and blueberries, lots of candies pecan pieces with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. She says it is absolutely delicious! She also had a Chicken Salad sandwich. It came in a croissant. Their sweet tea is the perfect beverage to go with your meal. I didn't get any dessert this time but they offer large cookies and brownies should you want to top your meal off with something sweet or just want to take it home and eat it later. I have used Mcallister's in the past when ordering sandwich platters for holiday parties or special events. They may seem a little on the expensive side but I can tell you everyone loves them and there won't be any left. Sometimes it is worth paying a little more for quality ingredients. I recently visited this location with some friends and had a great lunch! What I love most about McAlister's is that I can get a sandwich with gluten free bread. I ordered a choose two, half gf club and half Savannah salad. It's easy to customize so there's no dairy and gluten in my meal, which is honestly refreshing. They also have some of the best tea. I get it unsweet and it's fantastic. This location got a bit busy during late lunch on a Saturday, but not overly so! We were a group of five and found a table easily and could talk just fine (not too loud in there). They employees were kind and pretty quick! This is the first time I've been to McAlister's. The Greenwood location had steady business for a week night. I opted for the McAlister's Club and was able to sub swiss cheese for provolone, and a side of Mac and Cheese. The Club was very filling, just wish it had a little more honey mustard for a little more umph, with all the layers of the club so it isn't too dry. The Mac and Cheese was not bad, not great, just generic... I should have gone for a soup. Overall the meal was filling and their menu was HUGE! Plenty of options to try next time. Now, I heard they had famous sweet tea. When you walk in you even see a "tea bar"! But this tea was subpar. I've had better from fast food even. read more

This afternoon, my friends and I had made a stop to this McAlister's location. They had ordered the Steak and Mushroom Submarine Sandwich (Half Size), with the Cheddar-Broccoli Soup. I ordered the Chef Salad with French Salad Dressing. Our food was fresh and delicious. We were also able to get a fun-photo of what seemed to be.... Quite the Cheese-Pull from the Soup. The Staff was very welcoming and friendly. However, we did notice a few customers that were trying to find a seat, having trouble with finding Tables and Booths that were sanitized and clean. Due to Covid-19 precautions, they ended up cleaning them after being notified. With that said, if they didn't bring it to their attention, that could've ended up as a potential situation. This is only intended as a constructive-criticism. I would advise to have 1 or 2 Employees specifically be a look-out of who comes and goes, so they'll know when and where to sanitize before the next person sits down. I know this can be a very hectic and busy location, so it may be a struggle to keep track. All in good time. read more

I really like this restaurant. If I want something light to eat, I can find something light. If I'm super hungry, they have so many foods to fill me up. I also love that they have gluten-free bread for all of their sandwiches. I hear this restaurant is a training one so you can always expect amazing customer service. They are so eager to offer refills or clean up your table when you are finished eating. My daughter enjoys the simplicity of the children's menu and the lack of fried foods. So many restaurants these days seem to have the same things: fried chicken nuggets, hotdogs, or grilled cheese. Here, though, she can have a simple turkey and cheese sandwich or a baked potato or Mac n cheese. If you're looking for good service, a great atmosphere, and food to fit your liking, go to this one. Have eaten at the McAlister's Deli many times at 135 & County Line Rd so I have something to compare our experience last Saturday night to and it was terrible. To begin, the a/c was either broken or turned way down because it was "warm" in the restaurant. The line to take our order was very slow. I presume due to no help and I can live with that. Thirdly, it took about 25 minutes to receive our food after we sat down ... not good. Lastly when my wife's "ultimate nachos" was delivered it was obvious they forgot half the dish. No cheese and chili sauce. I immediately took it back to the counter and a young lady who appeared to be some sort of manager at first replied that "these" were utimate nachos but after a second look it was obvious they were not. When the 2nd dish of nachos was delivered it looked like someone had thrown up all over the platter. The chili sauce and cheese were obviously just "slung" over the nachos with no attempt for a proper presentaton. The young lady who appeared to be a manager had a bad attitude toward the whole situation and this is what prompted this poor review. It's unfortunate because I have to talk my wife in to coming to McAlisters and now I'm afraid she will not be convinced to return. read more

The have half the dining room blocked and instead of cleaning tables in the open section~they are staying dirty (about 20 minutes so far). Ordered my food after waiting about 5 minutes....no one in front of me~plenty of staff around just not taking my order. I ordered my food and it arrives...attaching photos. Pickles look like they have mold; which seems unlikely since there is so much turn over of food here. My French dip has about half the meat that comes on it at other locations I have visited~and check out the plethora of ranch I was given (I added it to order assuming paid for it). And the tea....I LOVE their tea; but the equipment needs sanitized here...the tea is NOT the McAlister's I'm accustomed to :-( They should really the location at Shelby and 31 or in Carmel to find better ways to care for equipment and customers read more

Now that the weathers starting to cool off, I love their pick 2 with either half a sandwich or salad and soup. But the sweet tea has me coming back over and over. Having been hunker down for a year and now all Vaxed up and back from visiting my daughter and grandkids, and made up for the virtual Christmas. We have gotten somewhat brave and ventured out to our old neighborhood eateries. McAlister's on 135 was somewhat of a disappointment this week. Their menu has changed and I believe the prices have gone up. The kicker was my wife ordered a bake potato and with the it besides the toppings the ordered when it came with 2 pads of butter. The waitress came by to our table and asked if we needed anything else. I asked for some pepper for my "country potato soup" and she asked for another butter. She return with 1 pad of butter and explained they were rationing the butter because they were running short and not expecting a delivery until the next morning, and I got 3 packets of pepper. I offered my wife some pepper because I said I have plenty, and she naturally rolled her eyes at meand muttered something under her breath. But I thought that was a little odd for a business to run short like that of a condiment. Especially with other McAlisters not being to far away, or Gordon's Food Service or even Costco who sells in bulk. I know we can blame this on the pandemic and business is not running as usual. However service is trying to get its mojo back. But I was disappointed because I usually would get is no longer available on the menu. What I substituted in place of wasn't really that satisfying. So don't let the ramblings of an old man discouraged you from going to McAlisters maybe you won't be quite as obnoxious. LOL! read more

We waited for 40 minutes for our meal and having 3 kids with me, it was a challenge. When our food came they only apologized for the wait after we said "wow that took a long time." Good customer service would recognize the wait and apologize first, and possibly offer us something... nope not here. The food was ok but the kids meal grilled cheese was pretty lame and the edge was hard as a rock. No one came around to check on us to see if we needed anything or refills...nothing. Once I went up to the counter to see what's going on the employee that took my order saw me and gave me the look like (oh you haven't gotten your food yet?) she looked at the screen to see where it was and then grabbed my order which was behind the counter and way off to the side. One of my go-to favorite lunch (and dinner) spots in the area. If I could steal their recipe for their Chicken Tortilla Soup, I would be one happy girl. There is no other place that compares to their tortilla soup. Add in a bread bowl with chips on the side and it's one of my favorite meals. And if I'm really not worried about what I'm eating, the giant Heath cookies they sell at the front are hands down my favorite cookies ever. I've also heard great things about their sandwiches -- specifically the Reuben and the New Yorker. But I love the soup so much that I rarely want to order anything differently. This McAlisters is not any different from other ones in my opinion. The workers are friendly and the place is always clean. I have noticed they aren't as spot on when they're busy, but I think that is to be expected. It's also very quick service and I never have to wait for long. This location needs to improve the quality of sanitation and food service as well as to go orders. I found a hair in my salad which was my first bite and was just opened. Threw that away. (No was not matching my own hair, thanks). They NEVER INCLUDE PICKLE SPEARS even when you click to add. They never include extra dressing inside the place or if you add on Togo orders which infuriates me. The soup is like WATER, potato soup, French onion, tortilla... you name it. It's literally maybe one item floating around a bowl of broth, ew!! Not appetizing. PLEASE LOOK OVER THE ORDERS BEFORE YOU SEND OUT. Little items can mean the most. Especially when you continuously forget. Where is the manager or expo leader that is making sure hair nets are worn and to go orders or dining orders have everything needed?!! Went there this afternoon with my parents and almost walked out. After placing our order, watched an employee blow her nose with a napkin while standing at the the pass through window, throw the napkin away, reach into the window and retrieve customers food, pick up plastic ware to place on the tray, and then proceed to turn around and hand the order to a runner to be delivered to a table. My father complained, stating please do not not that employee touch our food! We stayed at the counter to make sure our food was properly handled, but we won't be going back . EVER. The manager was standing right there and heard everything, but said nothing. This is how contamination is spread and people get sick. These employees need to be trained. Frankly, I haven't visited a McCallisters in years. I was never really into their menu or the taste or quality of their food. Because I didn't pick our lunch location this time, I was determined to be open minded and I was pleasantly surprised at the many additions to their menu since the last time I tried them. There were many dishes I would be willing to try and opted for their Reuben sandwich which comes with a generous 8 ounces of corned beef. My daughter ordered a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup and we both had the mango green tea iced tea. Our order was delivered to our table in just a few minutes despite how busy it was (prime lunch hour for working folks). The marbled rye of my sandwich was super soft, just the right amount of sauerkraut and thousand island dressing and a tall heaping of corned beef. It was very tender though my personal preference is a thicker sliced corned beef but I can't hold that against them. My daughter inhaled her soup so I didn't even have to ask what she thought of it! I wasn't even 4-5 bites into my sandwich when she took a bite of the other half of my sandwich and it was never seen again. Is it humanly possible to eat half a sandwich in just one bite?! Anyway, all I had left was the potato chips on my plate - which was a generous serving by the way. I really love that in their condiments area, you can self serve pickle spears, banana peppers and jalapeno peppers in addition to the assortment of hot sauces.
