Our server was polite but slow, and 3 of the other orders were forgotten because the cook thought they were the same... that's what we were told, so it took a while longer for the rest of the order to come out. But that comes with the territory, and the views make it worth it. There are also plenty of birds hoping you'll share your fries with them, which is both expected and pretty funny. We each ordered a Pain Killer. It was good at first, but it quickly became watered down, and I didn't think it was worth $10. We also got the nachos, but the price adds up quickly once you start adding toppings. Most of the menu is very à la carte. The prices seem reasonable at first, but sides and toppings can add up fast. The burgers don't come with fries, for example. We both got the West Coast Burger. It was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was attentive and generally friendly. Overall, Fish Heads is one of the better dining options in the area. The pier setting and views really make the experience unique. I enjoy coming here and will likely be back.

This is the worst run Sonic that I know of. I love Sonic - but not this one. I mostly love Sonic onion rings - the best ones I've ever had. This one rarely has them - and is the slowest Sonic I've ever been to. Today (6/15/18) at 3:15 pm I pulled in to a stall. There were 4 cars in the drive through waiting to order. No response from inside (at the stall). Not a peep. After 4 or 5 minutes I finally saw a waiter walk past me and he was being sure not to make eye contact. So I yelled "how do I order here"? He said "system is not working " "go through drive through". Not "I'm sorry", not " can I help you". Just - go through the drive through. Now there were four more cars in drive through waiting to order. After about 8 minutes, I get up there and ask for onion rings. They said "we don't have them". This happened 2 weeks ago when i was in town. No onion rings. And another time this seDon't waste your time waiting if you love onion rings. They won't have them! 7-15-18 update. Was back in town again, so I thought I would try my luck one more time with the Sonic in nags head. No Luck again! The place was busy and the line in the drive through was moving well, so I thought for sure I would get onion rings. Not a chance! -OnionRingless in NC Update 6-13-20 I'm again in Nags head North Carolina and I thought, this is a new year, maybe the sonic in nags head has figured out how to make onion rings. Clearly, this is not the case! I'm not sure why I like to subject myself to this continual pain. Sonic, in my opinion, has the best onion rings ever made,. But this sonic is clearly incapable of making them. I checked the grocery stores and all of them still have onions, so I don't think it's an onion shortage. I'm afraid, and I wish it wasn't so, that this store is just too lazy to spend the time to make those amazing onion rings. If you go to the sonic in nags head North Carolina don't bother asking for onion rings, they always say...we just ran out!! Disappointed and dejected again! read more

All of the booths are closed and only the drive-through is open. Waited 20 minutes in line just to get a drink. Would make a lot more sense to open all of the booths and close the drive-through Since the building is on a small lot and there is no way to have both open at the same time. read more

Preparing me for confusion that would definitely happen. I'm glad she did, as we had pulled up there was no one here, but once inside more and more parties started to show up and a line started to form. I like how it is almost cafeteria style in here. Come up, place your order, they repeat it to back of house on that old school microphone and continue on with the order. It is fast paced for the ordering process, but not completely for the preparing. I went with the Big Double Burger combo. I appreciate that you get to choose your toppings; lettuce, onion, pickles, mayo, and mustard for me. For my sides, since you get to choose two I went fried all the way; fries and onion rings. For my drink. I thought I would go with a milkshake since they seem to be known for them. Opting for a chocolate chip cheesecake Fancy Milkshake. Once the food was ordered, we went and picked out a place to sit. Tip here, go for a table with chairs instead of the booths. The booths feel like they are a bit crowded, you can read that as not much room in the least. Our food started to come up and we started to head to the counter to pick it up. I enjoy that no matter how you order you still get it in a to go container. The food comes out exactly how you placed your order. When I say food, I mean the "tray" as they call it. But, the drink area, they really went off the rails there. Remember, I ordered a chocolate chip cheesecake Fancy Milkshake. When I got my food, I should have gotten the milkshake. I didn't, I approached the counter to let them know I didn't get it and they told me to give them a minute and they would have it out. Finally ready, but what I got was a strawberry milkshake. Not what I ordered, and when I told them this, they asked me if I was sure. Yes, I ordered it, it's on my receipt. They take it back and "remake" it. It took them some time and another milkshake was up. Notice I said another milkshake, and not my milkshake. What I was given was a chocolate chip milkshake. After waiting for nearly ten minutes for a milkshake, I was tired of asking for a remake. You got half of it right with the chocolate chip part.

Just, no. No hush…read morepuppies, no carbonation in the soda machine. Long wait time, dirty dining room. I got a whopping three onion rings for my side. Soggy fries with a whisper of Cajun seasoning. Will not return.
