The food is pretty good, as you will find at all Sonics. I cannot add anything new about the food. However, let me warn you about the hours of operation. Although the information here on Yelp says that Sonic opens at 7:00 AM, it actually opens at 9:00 AM. And that is every day. Sometime in the last year they changed the hours. A year ago we were in the area and had breakfast sometime before 9:00 AM. This year I stopped by and found the place closed up. The hours printed on the front door are pretty clear: 9:00 AM opening every day. And even more strange is that the official Sonic site https://locations.sonicdrivein.com/ny/rochester/945-jefferson-road.html for this location says it opens at 7:00 AM. But you will be out of luck if you show up before 9:00 AM. Just goes to show that you cannot believe everything on the web. read more

I was waiting at the drive through speaker for 15 minutes before I had my order taken. I was the window for over 20 minutes and you can see them standing there on there phones and waking around drinking drinks making drinks for them selfs. I would leave but we paid. This location has the most lazy and rude employees and management I've ever encountered in any fast food establishment. You can order on the app, check into the stall on the app, see that they received your order, but they just choose to not deliver your order to your car. They give you zero idea that they just are never going to bring you your food. Nothing. When you walk up to the carhop door to ask for your food they tell you they don't have anything to do with the app and if you want food you will have to go through the drive through. So not only do they refuse to give you the food you ordered, but also to refund your money. Again, they "don't have anything to do with the Sonic app." They refuse to call the store manager or franchise owner and threaten to call the police if I don't leave. At this point they were getting pretty aggressive, had stolen my money and refused to provide the food I paid for. When the deputies arrived, the store was MAGICALLY able to produce the receipt and the food, which the deputies had to Watch them make to avoid the employees from tampering with it. They deputies then carhopped the food to my car because the employees are too lazy to do their job. This was absolutely ridiculous. If the stalls are closed, you have to let people know that, not just let them sit there assuming since they saw their name in the screen that someone will bring it out. This is literally the worst service I've ever had. I work in the area and over the last 2 years I have never once seen the stalls open. When me and my boyfriend went through the drive thru a few months ago I was ordering when the employee cut me off rudely to tell me to stop saying please so much. We get the food and my bfs burger had a hair in it and was cold. We decided to try again a few weeks ago, and they were randomly closed with no explanation. I tried again on my lunch break today one last time, and I pulled up (all the stalls closed) I pulled up to the drive thru (2 other cars were waiting for their order while one other car was waiting on the 1st speaker box) I waited for 10 mins, said hello and neither me or the other speaker had any communication. I honestly had no clue that we even had a Sonic in our area let alone 2. So when we were in Henrietta we decided to make a stop since we were starving. We pulled up into a spot and took our time looking at the menu. For some reason I was expecting a larger menu, but it does look like they have an extensive amount of drinks, milkshakes and ice cream. Is that what Sonic is known for? I don't really know much about this place except for the notable 2 guys from the commercials... Anyways, the food is just ok. I wasn't that impressed. My hubby and I both got a chicken sandwich, the bread was so flat and squished - not that appetizing. The fries were good but nothing special. I did however really like the jalapeño poppers. We also ordered a grilled cheese kids meal. Came with a generic chocolate milk, generic apple sauce packet and transformer stickers. There is an option of different sides like fries but my son chose the apple sauce. The grilled cheese was kinda gross...it wasn't grilled at all. Imagine taking two pieces of white bread then add a slice of cheese in the middle, throw it in the microwave for 30 minutes and that's what you get. My son wouldn't even eat it - and no, he's not a picky eater. He's a 4 year old that eats everything from calamari and everything you would find on an antipasto tray to boxed Mac and cheese. Needless to say he will eat pretty much anything. But this grilled cheese was just rubbery and gross. Eh, oh well. I don't think I will go back. If I do maybe I'll try a hot dog? No, probably not. When Sonic first arrived, I went there about once a week and enjoyed their blue raspberry slushy and bacon burgers. Over time, though, I grew to dislike their food, gradually realizing how artificial the slushies tasted, and how unappetizing the burgers really were, ultimately to the point where I almost want to throw up just thinking about them. Think: growing out of Burger King, but more extreme. And it's not this particular Sonic's fault - I think they made the food the way they were supposed to, and it's just not designed to be very good food. I've come to the conclusion that it's basically what In & Out would be like if its food was the opposite of super fresh and if from an organizational level it was poorly managed from the top down. read more

We went there for grand opening and the food was pretty standard. I ordered a milkshake on my way out and when they handed it to me it was dripping everywhere. The milkshake machine had stirred through the cup. They replaced my shake, which was great, but they should've noticed what had happened before sending it out. Second time we went, we were in the drive thru. Long wait (5-7 min) but nothing terrible and our food was correct. Third time was a mess. We went through the drive thru. The line was long, so the employee manning the register was running out with drinks and getting our payment. Thought this was a good sign. We had ordered a double bacon cheeseburger with no veggies, just the cheese and bacon. When we got the sandwich, it was not plain. We handed the sandwich back and waited for another. When we finally got another, we checked and it was a single cheeseburger. No bacon, no second patty. We then pulled into a parking spot and went inside. Had to explain to those inside what had happened. They insisted that it was correct, and couldn't understand why it was "wrong." Finally another employee came out and realized the mistake and corrected the order and gave a free slush coupon. No apology, no "here you go!" Nothing. Just handed the bag over and moved on to the next customer. Extremely rude. Half an hour later we had finally gotten our order. 30 minutes of waiting for employees to do their job. We will wait quite some time before we come back here again. Hopefully they can get their act together and weed out those employees who just don't make the cut. read more

This specific Jefferson rd location , however, should be avoided at all costs! Ordered online and pulled in to pick up. Screen said order was coming. Waited 25 minutes at the carhop spot before someone finally came out with 1 item from our order and informed us that they couldn't make a wrap and that there was no ice, so we also couldn't have our sodas and limeade. AND, they couldn't refund my money because we ordered online- we'd have to call the corporate office for a refund ?!?! We had come here about 2 weeks ago for drinks on a hot day and again, the ice machine was broke so after waiting in the drive thru for 20 minutes, they told us at the pick up window that they didn't have any of the items we ordered!! Two weeks with no ice machine?? Sounds like corporate is just gonna let this site die a slow death, which is unfortunate because when they were first open food was hot and tasty and the drinks and shakes were good. This place used to be good- I went a few times since it opened. I've gone twice over the past few months and won't go back. I know it's not good when I'm the only customer inside at 615pm.... my biggest problem is the physical restaurant. The main doors have been broken for months- the bathrooms are disgusting and paint is pealing off the wall in the dining room. I usually don't leave reviews for fast food places because they are fast food and they are all pretty much mediocre, high calorie food. However, I am making an exception for Sonic in Henrietta. My experience as a whole was terrible. I did not use any of the car kiosk things I went in to the restaurant to sit and eat. The service was bad. It took the girl at the counter forever to find the keys for what I ordered but I finally got my number card and sat down. It then took about 10 minutes to get my food because unbeknownst to me the guy was walking around carrying it and couldn't find where I was seated leaving me to wonder why did they give me this number tent if he wasn't going to look for it. He continued to walk around looking for people through the rest of the dreadful process. But I told myself that they did just opened so I should cut them some slack. Then my food came. I ordered a double bacon burger with a medium drink and tater tots as well as a meat lovers breakfast burrito. The burger comes with no ketchup, mustard or pickles and the only ketchup they have are in the packets which really irks me. The burger patties themselves were strangely tough like no burgers I'd ever eaten before and the pieces of bacon on the burger were formed into a weird circle. The tater tots were overdone, greasy, under-seasoned, and cold. With this burger and tater tots I was extremely disappointed and for the amount I paid it was honestly a rip-off. But I told myself maybe the breakfast burrito will be good and then this will be worth it. Then I opened the wrapper. Form the second I opened the foil wrapper, I could see that the person who made this burrito either did not care to make a good burrito or did not know how and did not care enough to ask. It was falling apart all over the place. It was overstuffed with meat that was incredibly salty and greasy that overpowered the egg and cheese. And, of course, I found the same abominable tater tots wrapped in there as well. Over all the food was terrible and service were terrible and, needless to say, my mind had been made up that I was never going back. The reason that pushed me to write this review is that when I went up and asked for a refill on my soda I was informed that they do not give free refills. I absolutely hate when restaurants charge for refills. If the restaurant serves the best food in the world but they charge full price for a refill on a soda that costs them a maximum of $.15 I will never go back. I cannot think of a more stingy practice and that in conjunction with the terrible food made me write this excessively long review. In conclusion I went to Sonic two times, the first and the last. It took them 5 minutes for them to be at the register and it took 3 people to figure out how to give me a refund for the fact that I had just waited for 30 minutes. I was so excited to finally get a Sonic in Rochester. Unfortunately, the excitement didn't last. First visit was just for a milkshake: The kiosk window took nearly 15 minutes, and after I left the milkshake out of literally 4 hours, I could finally get the "ice cream" through the straw. Second visit - lunch with my daughter: Perhaps spoiled the McD's 1/4 pounder, but Sonic burgers do not measure up. And the fries . . . soggy. Absolute terrible experience. My boyfriend and I were so excited to come and try out the new location. He ordered a coney with fries, and I had popcorn chicken and a sonic blast. The coney was soaking soggy with the chili, like it had been sitting for a while. Fries were old, soggy, and cold. They forgot any sauce for the chicken, or fries.
