It's Sonic, so you know what you're getting, right? But this Sonic needs help. It's obvious they're struggling to maintain a full staff. There were maybe two dozen cars waiting for food but only one single guy running orders out to the cars. (Yes, we tipped him *very* well, poor dude.) When I peeked inside the prep area I noticed there were a LOT of orders backed up waiting to be delivered, so I think if they could hire a couple more carhops most of their issues would be solved. And most Sonics have a picnic bench or table or two for folks like us: walk-ups, and bicyclists. This one had zero seating available. Maybe a COVID thing? Maybe just a problem? I hope this Sonic can sort out these issues; I hate to see my go-to for the diet cherry limeade have to shutter. read more

On their drive through menu it says the large ice cream blasts are 6 dollars each but in reality they are 8 dollars. So when i came to the window thinking i was gonna get 12 dollars for two ice creams but then finding out they were 8 dollars. Be Careful with spending money especially if you're on a budget and ask them for their actual prices. I was even thinking about telling them that they should fix the menu and they should because they will have people confused. And they also taxed me for 1.45 cents. This sonic was short staffed but I was still disappointed to have to wait 45 minutes (most of that was before taking our order!) when I got my food, a popcorn chicken combo with fries and a limeade. Half of my popcorn chicken was just fried batter and all of my fries were hard, cold, and at least a day old. Avoid this Sonic in Taos. Their service is horrible and way to slow. I pulled in and ordered a large vanilla milkshake (an easy order to make) and I waited 20-25 minutes to bring it to my truck. I only had a $50 and a few $1's on me and the dude did not have $40-$45 in change and was not going to go back inside where Sonic obviously had that amount of change. I had watched every car that arrived in the drive-thru after I started waiting in a stall be serviced and gone. Sonic chose to service 12-15 cars ahead of me. I kept feeling like leaving and started to a few times and was told my order would be right out so I foolishly kept waiting. When my simple milkshake finally came with Sonic unwilling to make change for this transaction I finally did leave Sonic in Taos ..... without my milkshake. read more

OK the hours say that they're open till 10 PM. I'm waiting in the drive-through before 9 o'clock I get to the monitor and the speaker and a lady comes on so sorry we're closed and then won't answer won't talk to me. I'm here from out of town and I was looking for some food before I went to bed unfortunately sonic doesn't take care of their customers or honor their hours they made me feel like I want rip place apart after wasting 15 minutes in line just to be shut out when it's my turn and then they won't answer the phone or talk to me on the speaker. read more

This place is terrible! Drove up to the drive In and was told we had to go through the drive through at 8:00 pm. Got to the drive Thru and the staff cut me off before I even got a sentence completed completely rude! Got to the window and finally got drinks after 10 minutes. If I could rate this location a 0 I would!!! We were literally waiting 30 plus minutes with only us and 2 other vehicles at this location. The manager came out and started raising his voice at us and being incredibly disrespectful after we pressed the button to ask if our order would be out soon. He lied saying there were 30+ orders when there was only 1 car in front of us and 1 sitting in the drive thru that pulled up after us. Rather than refunding our food we were publicly humiliated. I called to ask for upper management's contact information at which point the manager (male with dark black hair) hung up on us twice. I'm requesting a call to resolve this issue. The service was slow and drinks at this location were gross. I was so happy to see a Sonic because an ice cold slush sounded amazing after spending the day at the Pueblo. We ordered a couple of slushes, but unfortunately they were both overly sweetened and undrinkable, which we didn't find out until after driving away. Friday night, 9 PM, don't bother pulling into one of the stalls because no one will ever answer when you push the button!!! If a you are not going to service the stalls why don't you turn off the lights on them? $7 for a milkshake?? I visited Sonic's today to try to buy a milkshake for $4.99. Upon contemplating, I decided to add on a cone for an additional $0.50 - this brings the subtotal to $5.49 cents. Tax in Taos is 8.1875% - this would bring the total to $5.93. Yet somehow my bill came out to over $7. You can't even park and order they won't help you they send you to the drive thru they are just as bad as a lot of restaurants hear in Taos if you can't fully open up then close down. Rude staff. Long wait times for just drinks. Closes drive thru at random hours. Not worth the time.

We only went here because we were looking for cheap eats, and it was right off the highway. Maybe we were just ignorant, but after the intercom-ordering system at carside (a big attraction) didn't work, we went in to order -- and found ourselves right in the kitchen. Apparently there is no over the counter service at all. And while the unsurprisingly flustered kitchen person nicely took our order while we were awkwardly standing there, we got to see a bunch of intimidating notices from the manager stating, for instance, that anyone who failed three times to ask people ordering if they wanted something in addition would be fired. Cheery. Anyway, so we retired to the car to wait for the order. The burger I got was skinny and slimy, and my sweetie's "grilled chicken salad" was made with lettuce that had obviously been treated with lemon juice or some other substance to give it the appearance of freshness when in fact it tasted like three days old, which we were certain it was. If I were you, I'd try a local, non-chain place if you're looking for better fast food. You must be able to do better. read more

I just went to sonic and I waited 5 minutes before a girl rudely got on the mic saying I needed to hold on. Cars started to pile up and people were leaving, then she rudely asked what I wanted to eat. I got to the window and asked who I was speaking to, of course the girl who was taking my order wasn't at the window but I heard the girl in the back talking nasty about me. I was never rude, demanding, or mean but she was very hostile. My tater tots were cold.
