It's a very small but cute restaurant with a tv around the bar so if you want to watch football or any sporting event you can definitely see it here. The service was good but I feel like they can be more informative, especially to someone new in town. If you're not aware, the burgers do not come with fries. You must order them separately. One thing the server did not mention. All she asked was, fries or onion rings? Now, I do understand we could read the menu, which we did, but most hamburger joints come with a side of fries especially at these prices!!! You're paying between $13-18 a burger, it should come with a side of fries! Now what she also failed to tell us was the amount of French fries that come when you order them. It's a large basket that could be shared between 2-3 people. We ordered three fries plus 1 onion ring. We paid $16.50 for three fries and barely ate through one whole basket! The fries seemed fresh cut but seemed like they had this weird film on the outside. Not sure if it's their oil, or if they didn't fry it at a high enough temperature. What we ordered: - bison burger (medium) : it came out burnt to a crisp. The initial bite wasn't bad but eating it more felt like you had a mouth full of ash. While I can appreciate a good charbroiled or grilled hamburger, it was overly done. Not to mention it was over cooked. There was no seasoning on top of the burnt flavor. It wasn't really edible. - old timer w/cheese (medium): add an additional charge for cheese! This too came out burnt! My daughter could only eat a little as it was too charbroiled/grilled. It too was over cooked and no where near medium. - green chili burger (medium): I had high hopes of this burger as it came with cheese and their infamous New Mexico Green chili! While my patty was not burnt, it was over cooked and it had zero to no seasoning! It came with a green chili mayo which was really good but it still didn't help with the seasoning! The burgers here seem fresh and the beef seems a good quality, but I still believe it's overpriced for what you get! I also understand times are hard and our economy is struggling with prices, but then they need to find other ways to cut prices down without sacrificing quality. read more

My husband and I got the rye burger with a turkey patty it was delicious! I used the drive through and really appreciated that they put the condiments on the side so that it didn't get soggy. The wait staff was friendly and I appreciate their service. I can't speak to the ambience inside as I did the drive through, took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready but I didn't mind at all. Having two kids in the car my was nice not to have to haul them in. read more

Used door dash. $50 of terrible food. Bun on one burger was hard as a rock! We ended up sharing the other burger which wasn't good, but at least the bun wasn't bad. Asked for ketchup, mustard and may, got ketchup and a terrible mystery sauce. Fries were cold and unseasoned. They knew it was door dash, sent 2 napkins. To keep this somewhat short & sweet: we had an awful experience at a different local burger place, which was close to our hotel; we ended up leaving before our (paid for) food even came out & we went to 5 Star Burgers, which was the best move because it was DELICIOUS. Everything from games on TV, service, to the menu/food was phenomenal & we will definitely go back when in Taos! That green chili burger & mixed fries with the sweet dipping sauce- YUM! Delicious chile cheese burger! The menu had lots of tasty options. The sweet potato fries had a delicious and addicting maple cream sauce!!! So tasty and memorable. 3 months ago I gave them a 5 star review. Today, I was shocked. The food was average at best. The service was horrible. We saw friends and were visiting with them and their autistic grand daughter. The child had reached her limit of our visiting. Bus staff gave one of the grandmas a stack of napkins to clean up a spill on the table that had gone on the floor, and told her to clean it up. I have NEVER heard or seen staff instruct a customer to clean up a mess. EVER. When we said something, we were met with "they didn't communicate their situation," as if that would have changed the staffs actions and subsequent attitude. Girls, it's never the customer's fault. You have a job to do and that is to accommodate your customers, not turn them into busing staff. You just lost us as steady customers. And one more thing. The place reeked of sewer smell. The excuse that the cold air and the door opening, pulling the smell from the restrooms through that part of the restaurant, well, that just means there's a ventilation issue. No one wants to eat lunch with the smell of human waste wafting about. Fix it. read more

We ordered a breakfast burrito today morning and specifically told that we don't eat meat so no bacon/beef. The server said ok and we still found meat in the chile poured on the burrito. We told the server about this calmly but she did nothing and laughed at us. Somehow ate the burrito pushing the chile aside. It was also very oily. So I didn't tip her after the meal. When we left I found an additional $8 charged on my card apart from the 19$ for the meal. I had to lock my card and report it. read more

Went to Taos today and wanted to try this place after we went to the Taos Pueblo and the Plaza (gift shops on steroids). 5 Star is a fantastic burger place with super nice folks and service. The menu is so yummy with something for everyone. I had the burger bowl which was a very large patty on lettuce, grilled onions, mushrooms and other goodies. Hubby had the Old Timer (appropriate, I know ) and said it was wonderful. We also split a "small" order of mixed fries - sweet potato and regular. There were enough fries to feed at least 4 people. They serve this amazing maple cream with the sweet potato fries too. I have only 1 tiny request of the servers-when you are asked if you have Diet Coke please be sure to tell the customer that it's Pepsi and not Coke. Anyway, loved this place. 5 Star Burgers used to be my go-to burger spot. The burgers were always fantastic, thick and juicy, and the Nutty Quinoa Salad was my favorite. [That says a lot when I would consistently order a salad over a burger.] It was always filling. Recently though, the quality has not been the same. My last in-restaurant visit came with poor service from our waitress. I know it was busy, but it still felt like we were brushed off and rushed to leave. The last two DoorDash orders were also disappointing. The quinoa salad was almost all spinach, with just a couple spoonfuls of quinoa and barely any of the gorgonzola I paid extra for. Even my son, who usually loves the burgers, noticed they were not as tasty as they used to be. I understand the cost of ingredients is high right now and that makes things harder for restaurants. What I don't like about the restaurant is the ambiance. Inside feels like eating inside of a Taco Bell or other fast food chain. The eating experience is not great and I would never go for a nice meal with friends or family. If you are looking for an enjoyable eating experience, this may not be your place. We are in town for a dog show and were looking for a dog friendly place we could take our two pups with us. From the moment we walked in, the staff were just so friendly and nice.
