First time at a Sonic and from the commercials I was expecting something special. I drive a cargo van and barely fit into their drive-in space. I ordered a #2: super sonic cheeseburger combo. Hamburger was cold after being loaded with the veggies. Fries were OK. I did like the crushed ice in my drink. I found Sonic to be just another fast food burger joint. Don't make a special trip for this unless the idea of a roller blading server coming out to your vehicle makes the difference. read more

Sonic's a little gimmicky with their rollerskating servers and their constant advertising. Still, I found myself wanting to try one. Then they added the one in Wallingford. Okay, the food's not what you'd call healthy. But it is what you'd call delicious for fast food fare. Their mozzarella sticks are particularly delicious. Their slushes are also pretty good. If you're going for healthy, boy are you in the wrong place. ... But I love this Sonic and plan to go back when I can. read more

I was in Wallingford at 5 below and wanted something quick so my son and I stopped here. I half-expected someone to roll up to the car on skates like from the movies but I guess the automated screen was fine. My son really enjoyed his kids meal (simple burger and fries) but I don't really give him fast food so these flavors are new to his taste buds. I come from Jersey so anytime I see Philly cheesesteak on the menu it's always my go-to meal. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great. The fries however tasted processed or they were cooked in old oil- not good. I have to admit when you're in the Stalls (they actually have it labeled this way- like we're cows at the barn) you have to crane your neck to see everything which wasn't too convenient. Ok, the limeades are super fab and so is the ice cream, but that is about it. I've been to this Sonic multiple times, praying that eventually they would get it right and I have yet to be impressed. I think I've given them enough chances. There is a 50/50 chance you will get decent staff and a 20/100 chance they will get the order right. If the food is not cold, it's greasy. My son got onion rings last week and they somehow tasted like vanilla??? Not to mention my limeade was just LIME. The overpowering flavor of lime traumatized me and I now have to lay one of my favorite drinks to rest. Too bad because it can be a fun place to take the kids! read more

This is a fun alternative to drive thru! The food is very basic, the healthy options probably are not. You will not have a taste sensation experience here. For what it is, it is fine. I had a carload of teenagers and they wanted to eat. I dropped around eighty dollars and they all seemed satisfied. The shakes look just like they do in the commercials. Like the fact that they had motorcycle parking allowing me to skip ahead of atleast 30 cars causing hate i'm sure by those on 4 wheels LOL We had the footlong coney dog and the double cheeseburger with onion rings, tater tots and an order of chedder peppers "stuffed jalapeno's" and we were quite pleased with the meal. While driving from NYC to my boyfriends parents house in CT, hunger struck and we stopped at Sonic. I have only been to one other Sonic location before, the one in Peabody, MA where I've had good experiences. But, I'm sorry the food just wasn't good at all. The tots were cold and soggy, burger extra greasy and sloppy and an okay hot dog. The Cran Limeade was delish as always, but the food just came out too fast and was way below the mark. I would have rather waited 10 minutes for fresh tots and burger. We got the Holiday mint shake which was good but very thick. I probably won't go to a Sonic anytime soon. read more

I have been to this particular sonic twice, and both times had problems with my order. The very first time I went, I ask for tater tots with cheese, but they brought me french fries with chili and cheese. I sent them back and they came back a few minutes later with tater tots with just chili, which again was not what I asked for. On my second visit I was given the wrong type of sandwich. I don't think it is the sonic chain but rather this particular location that has the problem. I work up in South Windsor and there is a sonic just down the street, in Manchester, that is always spot on. So if you are looking to try sonic for the first time, I would suggest going to the Manchester one. read more

you're not retarded if you wait 30 minutes to get fast food. waiting the whole time for food is stupid, yes, but it wasn't just about the food - it was about sonic! i have never been to sonic in my life and the fact that there is now one about 20 mins away from me made me want to try it. so we went the first day it opened. me and two of my friends sped down and drove right into the lot. we got there around 2:30 and we were told the wait was going to be about 45 minutes to 1 hour. i didn't really have time to think because we were being waved in but i didn't want to wait that long. when the time amount processed in our brain we were being told to align directly in the center of the aisle and to get directly behind the car in front of us. we wanted to leave and get out but the kid who waved us in told us it would realistically be about an hour. when we got in line we all fawned over the menu. through much deliberations and talking each other in and out of meal choices, we ended up meals and rt 44 sizing our drinks. i like the ice at sonic a lot, idk why but the pebbles are appealing to me. i got a grilled cheese from the kids menu with tots and a coke as well as a java caramel chiller. one of my friends got fries with his meal and they were completely friggin disgusting. if they were any more of a hue of grey i'd think they just used someone's brains to be cut into thin slices. we all ate everything except the fries and then left. a couples hours later it was hitting our stomachs like rocks. my advice: stick to the drinks at sonic and make it more of a thirst quenching spot rather than a place to eat. read more

My family & I go to Sonic 1 or 2 times a year. The chocolate shake has been a must for my husband & I ever since they opened. Went tonight & we were both very disappointed! I brought mine home & added chocolate sauce. We both would have sworn it was a vanilla shake. Burgers were good; came special ordered as requested. Normally don't eat a lot of fast food but was in the area and had to give it a try. My lady and I were on the way back from the beach on a January day and both wanted something different. We choose to use the drive up stall. I had a little bit of a hard time hearing the hostess through the intercom but I am hard of hearing anyway. Got a coffee for me and ice cream for the lady. To my delight the coffee was decent and hot the ice cream tasty and cold. 5 stars because the server used manners, please, thank you and have a nice day. Not sure I will ever be back, but it was not because of the food or service. read more

Firs off, must first wait in a staging area before entering the drive through/ordering area -- in an unpaved, sharp rocks dirt parking lot. Then they screwed up all of our orders (4 people), but we were already away from the pickup window...so have to park and try to flag one of the servers down (this is only a drive through restaurant btw). So I complain about the order, and they replace it. Well, guess what, they screwed it up again, so one more time flagging down the servers. Finally, we get the order made as we asked, but the food was prepared like crap. The burgers were uneatable -- salty -- all of them. When I travel in the Midwest and in Texas, I love going to Sonic for a great fast food, freshly grilled burgers, thick chocolate shakes, tart limeades and such. So I was thrilled when one opened in the area. The girl and I went down one afternoon and waited in the lines for a stall -- I'm told that these are no longer present. We placed the order and were salivating waiting for the order to arrive. When it did, and we opened up the bag, disappointment set in. This was no Sonic. The burger was semi warm, having been grilled much earlier and kept warm. The fries were downright cold. I couldn't believe it, given how crowded the place was. I expected everything to come out hot and fresh like most all other Sonics I've been to in the past.. The girl did the popcorn chicken and described it as cold and tasting of grease. The shakes and limeade did measure up to expectations. Overall the food was not good. For quick burgers, Five Guys kills Sonic and for people in the area of Sonic, stick with Ted's or even Dairy Queen. The owners of this Sonic need to go spend three months at a Sonic in Texas or Kansas to learn how it's supposed to be done. We may give this another try in the future, but for now it's on the "maybe we'll return one day if we happen to be driving by and we're really hungry right then" list. read more

So I'm a regular of Sonic of CT. I have to grade some of the food here. Supersonic and Sonic Burgers - below average, BK is better Bacon Toaster - Amazing Chicken Club Toasters - Amazing The Jumbo Chicken nuggets whatever they're called - great and filling Footlong Philly, Super filling and a little too much for me to eat at times Breakfast - All breakfast is amazing, bacon and sausage toasters, french toast sticks leaeding the way. Note: the Toasters you must always ask for the toaster a little extra toasted or it will come out standard, a little light on the toasting for one's liking. Not a big deal Limeaids - Love the green apple, cherry, strawberry, and orange limeaids. Note: On the limeaids, you must ask for "a little ice, or light on the ice", or they will fill 1/2 of the cup with ice and defeat half of your drink. Learned that after the first couple purchases, again, not a big deal. .Blasts = Comparable to Mcd's Mcflurries, and more offerings than MCD's in terms of flavors, love the blasts. Note: On the blasts, if you expect the ice cream thick like the mcds mcflurries, you'll be disappointed. Ask for the ice cream a little extra thicker. Shakes - Strawberry is amazing, their chocolate disappoints me. Prefer mcds chocolate The tots and fries are top notch. the fries are not salty like all the other fast food chains. The medium tots for me is plenty plenty, the large order is BIG! The cheesecake bites are fried, and not that great. Grilled cheese is like any normal grilled cheese. Good for a buck the dollar menu chicken strip sandwich (comes with 2 small strips), fresher and yummier than mcds fake chicken sandwiches (the mcchicken) That's my opinions in a nutshell from everything i've eaten so far. One thing you people need to realize, is Sonic makes their food a standard way. If you want more of the drink, the limeaid, ask for light on the ice. If you expect fresh bacon or something on your burger or sandwich and dont get it by some odd chance, ask them to take it back and correct it. If you want the bread, the toasters, actually toasted decently but not burned, you have to ask for the bread to be a little extra toasted. IT'S THAT SIMPLE PEOPLE, SONIC WILL CATER TO YOUR LIKING WITHIN REASON. IF YOU WANT TO SIT AROUND AND WHINE, AND NOT COMPLAIN, WHICH YOU CAN'T REALLY DO AT ANY OTHER FAST FOOD JOINT - THEN YOU'RE HELPLESS. Stopped today after last visit over a year ago when not impressed. I went to a stall and hit the button as it said, no one answered. Should have left but went to the drive through and parked so I would could eat at the tables. The meal I ordered was Asiago Chicken on a whole wheat bun, some onion rings and a chocolate shake. The sandwich tasted strange, the rings were crappy as was the shake which I threw out after drinking less than half. I cannot remember "fast food" that tasted so odd and barely palatable. This is my last visit to Sonic. The commercials with the two dopes was enough to make me never want to go, so my bad for going anyway. read more

Was the other night. Watch a car hop (La'Shae) talk to a person in a car for roughly 10 minutes. Afterwords he went inside. It was the same car hop that delivered out order my slush was 1/2 melted and my friends chicken sandwich was cold. We asked the car hop for some honey mustard after 7 minutes we pushed the button and finally got our honey mustard. Although my friend did say that his sandwich and cherry limeade was good it would have most likely been better hot. Will probably go again to see if maybe it was just that one car hop. Worst Sonic I ever came across. You ask for extra buffalo sauce on the wings and what you get is dry pieces of wings. These people who work at this Wallingford location will be the ones responsible when it shut downs. Zero customer service. Teenagers running this place like some school mess. The strawberry banana shake had chunks of strawberry and banana, how are you suppose to drink it with a tiny straw??? I didn't pay 24 dollars for this lousy food, and the worst part is falling sick the next day. I would not feed it to my dogs. Never ever again. read more

So, first, anyone who waits more than 15 minutes to get food here is an idiot, sorry. I only went because we got passes for the "soft opening" the night before the grand opening. We had no wait. We ordered a cherry limeade, diet coke, chili cheese coney, hamburger and 2 fries. After we got home, we realized there was no chili cheese dog. My husband volunteered to go back down to get it. The guy asked him why he didn't check the bag, excuse me?? Isn't that your job? After the waitress read back our order, i didn't even think about it. After we got the dog, which wouldn't have even fit inside the bag we got (how would I know, I've never been to Sonic) I was baffled at how the waitress didn't realize it wasn't in the bag. The food was fine, it's fast food. It was opening day too so they get a bit of a pass. I hope things get better and I will not be back until there is no line, no fast food is worth waiting that long for. read more

I'm actually really happy about this new Sonic - the first in CT and just one exit away from my house - but I have to give it 3 stars because I'm only really excited about half the menu. That part of the menu would be drinks. I've been to Sonic maybe 5 times since it opened (hey, it's summer, and they're open late now!), and each time we find a new thing we'd never order again (onion rings were strangely sweet, pickle-os kind of weird and grilled cheese not exactly grilled), but we also find a new drink that makes us want to try all the drinks. The slushes are really good and include the perfect amount of ice. So far I've had grape, orange and watermelon and tried some of the others, and they're all good. Also, when you add flavor to the sodas, they really have that old-fashioned soda jerk feel. For example, a diet Dr. Pepper with cherry and vanilla flavor tastes way better than the canned cherry vanilla diet Dr. Pepper. The crowds are dying down a bit as the hype also goes down, so I'm glad I have this extra stop for late-nights when I'm craving some kind of sweet treat. read more

Everyone was so hype when we found out CT was getting a Sonic. Personally, I had never been to one so didn't see what the big hub bub was about.....until now! My friend and I decided to go to the one in Wallingford before we hit the movies. We decided to sit down in the outside eating area since the weather was pretty decent. I ordered their new chicken flatbread sandwich with fries and a lemonade. Nothing fancy even though there were so many delicious looking food items. (mini-cheesecake bites!!) The sandwich I got was soooooooooooo good!!! I can't wait to go back and order it again. It was a fairly decent size. I dipped mine in ranch dressing sauce for an even tastier meal. (I'm slightly obsessed with ranch dressing) We were able to pay with our debit cards outside and our food was brought out in a timely manner. The wait staff was nice which is always appreciated. All in all I can see why everyone made a big fuss about this place. Just writing this review makes me want to drive on over to Sonic for that delicious sandwich! read more

2/7/2016- 2100- Rude male waiter, complaining about having to make us ice cream (only reason we went there). We noticed the ice cream leaking out the side of one of the cups and to our surprise, there was not 1, but 2 pieces of scotch tape over two splits in the foam. I don't know what kind of edibility scotch tape adhesive has, but totally inappropriate. It is called get a second cup if you accidentally squeeze it to hard and break it, not scotch tape it. read more
