This place gets a bad rap for reasons all over the place, yet every time I am here to get my standard breakfast the store has a long line at the drive thru and or people waiting for their mobile orders. A whole lot of complaining for a store that has had consistent lack of employee issues and still seems to get you hot food. I have been going to Sonic for years and they have always given military discount, without any problem as long you state that you are a military member. For you to lie to my face after telling me that your manager wasn't there and then turn around and say oh we only get a military discount once a year was so disrespectful. If you do not know how to run a register or how to do a discount you just tell the customer upfront no need to lie because of that I decided to let you go ahead and keep that food and I took my business elsewhere. Love the TV commercials with the 2 guys in thecar. Really like the design of Sonic, the structure, drive up with a clear menu that explains itself well. I worked for this store. The coworkers I had were amazing. They went above and beyond and I wish them nothing but the best. As for the management, not only are they all family, witch is a conflict of interest, but the store itself is absolutely disgusting. The amount of black mold that was covering the AC vents was absolutely ridiculous. One was directly over the drive through, and instead of cleaning it they literally just decided not to use the cups and slush station over there. One of the coworkers told me the slush syrup had been sitting there since he was hired. They didn't have a mop, and almost all of the equipment they had, was also covered in black mold. I was scraping literal chunks off of the drink machine. I was told by management themselves they don't clean the ice cream machine because "they don't know how to" or "they just don't have time to deal with it." When someone finally cleaned the container for the metal tops they put over the cups to mix blast, there were literally MAGGOTS in the bottom of the container. They served people product using equipment sitting in maggots. I cleaned so much that it became overwhelming and everyone was just okay with the way the store looks. When it rained hard, the whole store leaked. Not just one or two leaks either. There are multiple spots in the front , kitchen, and pretty much all the doors that leaked. Most are in the kitchen right next to the grill where they cook the food. So the cooks have to work in that as well. The way that management changes the friers is beyond crazy. They just let the grease poor out all over the floor, and let it go down the drain. There is no proper disposal of the grease. The drains have mold and clog. To be honest, I'm not sure how the store is legally allowed to be open. The priorities that management have are completely backwards. They care more about making bags for drive through and labor than the actually condition of their store. They are short staffed, not because no one wants to work, but because of the drama that management brings to the store because they are family and all live together. They argue and cuse at one another and add nothing but tentation to the already stressed out, and small staff they have. The good reviews they have I'm almost 100% certain are by people who know the management or staff personally. If I could give this store -5 starts, I would do so. I have given this Sonic multiple chances. As a DoorDash driver and a customer myself. My first trip there as a DD driver, there was no explanation as to what to do once arriving at store. I pulled into a spot to let them know I was there for a DD order. The drive thru was packed and I didn't have time to wait in the line without being late with my order. It was 10 minutes and lots of cars waiting in stalls before someone came over the intercom one stall at a time announcing that only drive thru orders where being accepted. As a customer...the food is not fresh...the shakes are not Sonic quality and every single employee I have come into contact with has been rude. I'm done with chances, this place isn't worth it. I don't give bad reviews lightly. So, if you have a choice to go to another restaurant...there's way better places in Yulee!!! read more

I've eaten at Sonic all over the country. I don't know what the problem with this location is, but I just tried for the 3rd time to eat here and had to leave for second of those three. Waited 10 minutes in the drive through another than cars pulling out to leave, it never moved. Aloe drive though may not be so bad if they had the car spots that sonic is famous for open. They have never been open as far as I know. Waste of time. I can only guess that it's the normal Florida bs where they won't pay people enough to man the store, because I've never seen this issue anywhere else. read more

The average review is 2 stars...I'll stick with that. Mostly cus the employees I interacted with were very pleasant & helpful & cheery. Ok, so there's like 24 stalls for cars and 5 have cars. It's lunchtime. Not a great sign. Its like walking into a restaurant and nobody is in there. The burger meat is absolutely awful. The bun is...well, if I took two dish sponges and used them for a bun, it would taste like that. Fries- cold. BTW, Yelp is for CUSTOMER photos not corporate professional photos. It's not a great sign when most of the food and location pics are staged. Total waste of money. Sonic are you reading this? You've squandered millions of dollars recreating the golden age of car hops and killed it with a corporate gloss & institutional crappy food. Ugh. Waste of time & money. If you work there, I'm sorry. This is by far the worst Sonic I've ever been to. It doesn't even deserve one star. Waste of time. Spend 45 minutes to and hour in drive through or at parking spot just to order, never mind to get my food. You get up to the speaker and sit there for an additional 20 minutes just to order. My kids and I liked going to Sonic as a treat on Saturdays, and the service has just been steadily going downhill. Last weekend was the breaking point and I'm definitely going to stay away for awhile now. I ordered online via the app while still at my daughter's dance school. Dance ends at 11:30, so I opted for a 12:15 pick up time (which is plenty of time and more to get from Sadler to Sonic!). I got there at 12, so super early, and checked in. Didn't expect whatsoever to have my food prior to 12:15, but figured I'd check in just in case they could get to it earlier. I finally had to use the call button (which took multiple tries--don't know if it's broken or they were just opting to ignore me) to ask what was up with my order. It was already 12:30 and I didn't have any of the food yet. When someone finally answered I stated the issue and that my order was for 12:15 and I'm still sitting there fifteen minutes later. Magically they said "Oh she's coming with your food now." - judging from the coldness of everything, I'm fairly certain our food was made when the order was placed and sat and was forgotten about for at a minimum thirty minutes. No apologies, nothing. Jusr gave us the cold food and left. Consistently the wait time has been getting worse- even with an empty parking lot and drive thru line. This was by far the worst though. There's also a young lady there who has the absolute worst attitude. She's rude and snotty, and I've thought twice about calling and making a complaint. On a previous visit SHE forgot part of our order, and then asked if we wanted her to go get it (why wouldn't I want what I paid for?)... When we said yes she audibly sighed and rolled her eyes before going to get it. I know these are teens and most likely their first jobs but that's no excuse for the managers to not police these children and teach them to act respectful. Sonic you need to get your act together. Well, I said I would give them another shot, and I did. On our way home from Gilbert's last night, we had to make a quick bathroom stop on the way, and decided a drink would be good too.... The place was PACKED. The drive thru line was probably 7 cars deep, so we drove to order from one of the little stally things. I pressed the button. No answer. Waited probably 3 minutes, pressed again, no answer. Then I just may have pressed it ten times in a row, but still no answer. I get they were busy. I really do. But not even a "we are so sorry, we are slammed, hang on just a second and we will be right with you." Well, we saw the drive thru line starting to move, and since we had already waited about 20 minutes already, decided that might be the best bet, and felt a little bit committed. 20 more minutes later, and we get to order! I waited about 5 and a voice came on and said, our system is down, it will be another 3 minutes until we are able to take your order." Well, that explained it, and I can imagine how frantic they must have been with the crowd, and it wasn't their fault, as systems do go down from time to time, so all was forgiven. And I felt sorry for them. (For a moment.) Then we waited 10 more minutes to order and finally got our drinks. But no apologizes, or "So sorry to have kept you waiting!" Those two little words words would have done wonders. If you keep someone waiting for almost an hour for two drinks, I'd think you'd at least acknowledge that, and provide a little costumer service. I'm sorry but this is the worst Sonic we have ever been to. They get the orders wrong, they run out of all sorts of things, they never seem to be aware of the text specials, so they don't have the ingredients on hand. If they do have the ingredients they want you to hand them your phone so they can be sure you really have a TXT offer. The ice cream is crystallized, as if it's been melted and refrozen, resulting in an unpalatable shake. They are so bad with the drive thru that we have given up trying to get them to understand an order with more than one item or where there is a choice of flavors or sizes. Actually, after they gave us the wrong shakes we have just stopped going there. I wouldn't recommend that you judge the whole Sonic chain by this sorry excuse for a restaurant. read more

This sonic is good if you go through the drive through. This sonic is terrible if you try to order via the drive in stalls. I have waited over 3-4 minutes multiple times when I have tried to wait in the drive in and I always end up just giving up and going through the drive through. I never even get spoken to at the drive in stalls. The employees are pretty friendly and drive through is quick. read more

I love sonic, but do not go to this one unless you want to wait 30-45 minutes for your food even when it isn't busy. That was my experience today with 2 cars in front of me in the drive thru. The employees here have always been friendly but they are not set up to win whatsoever. Seems like no more than 2 people are ever working. They need to hire more people because they are easily losing out on more overall from people leaving after not seeing the drive thru move for 10 minutes. I witnessed a customer get out of his truck and curse out the employees for this today so it's no wonder that they don't have anyone working when those are the conditions. I wouldn't recommend doordashing it either because no driver is going to sit in line that long not getting paid. When you do get your food it will be cold or melted.
