Calamari a little over cooked but still pretty yummy.

Pretty sweet place. Could be a nice place to go for a romantic dinner. The bison was a little tough. I ordered it medium rare more on the rare side didn't have any flavor. It was the tough maybe the toughest I've had. My server was awesome and observing the bartenders and other servers they seem to be on point. I would visit Sonny again... maybe try fish.

My boyfriend and I came here for our one year anniversary, and it was fantastic! We arrived 15 minutes early and they were able to seat us. When we walked up to our table they had set up a card wishing us a happy anniversary and thanking us for spending the evening with them. I got an old fashioned, calamari, and ribeye steak with mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were super fluffy and creamy, they went with the juicy and well seasoned steak perfectly. The old fashioned was the best I've had and they also served us a plate of sourdough with homemade garlic salt butter. After the meal, they served us a complimentary desert for our anniversary. We both had an amazing time! Hoping to come back again someday.

Sonny's definitely tops the short list of fine dining options in Ft Collins. I can see this being a special occasion restaurant appreciated by the locals. Classic steakhouse fare: steaks, chops, prime rib, and seafood. Chateau Briand and a seafood tower are a couple of unique finds on the menu. I say in the bar lounge area where I received excellent service. They had a lounge menu, but you can also order from the main menu as well. The roasted beet salad was pretty good, but had an opportunity to be better. They serve the beets on a pile of mix greens, but fail to dress them in any way. No one wants to eat a pile of dry greens. And if it's on the plate, expect your guests to want to eat it. The pork belly appetizer well made up for the minor beet salad issue. Amazingly tender and flavorful with a chipotle peach gastrique and pistachio goat cheese. I consider this a signature dish here. The steak frites from the lounge menu was excellent. Perfect medium rare prime strip served with a choice of sauce. Cognac peppercorn for me. Nothing special about the fries, kind of reminded me of McD's. Cocktails, ambience, and staff were all fantastic and I look forward to returning.

Creamy Asparagus Soup with mushrooms and toasted almonds

This is one place I thought I'd never set foot in based on the little I knew about it - a fancy and pricey steakhouse! With the Great Plates special going around in Old Town, we decided this was the time to finally check it out at a reasonable price. We dressed up a little extra fancy and headed down the stairs and through the heavy wooden door. We were greeted immediately at the host stand and taken to our reserved table which was tucked in the back of a small dining room. There is a massive TV at the end of the dining room (it was dark this evening) and sports memorabilia and football photos plastered all over the walls. Dressing up was very unnecessary (still glad we did, though) - the majority of people dining around us were in jeans and white sneakers. We ordered the special with three different courses: creamy asparagus soup with mushrooms and toasted almonds, Verlasso salmon with crispy skin over toasted farro, creamed corn and red pepper coulis, and finished up with apple walnut bread pudding topped with Vern's toffee, ice cream and caramel sauce. Every aspect of every dish was absolutely out of this world! You could tell these were smaller portions than traditional, but they still seemed to put the same care into making sure it represented their regular menu. Our server, Tatiana, and the server's assistant (didn't get her name) were on point and made sure our glasses never ran dry, and checked on us often to ensure that we were enjoying our experience. We split a bottle of cabernet sauvignon and spent a leisurely hour and a half sipping and enjoying the fine dining. After this experience, we'll definitely be going back to try out happy hour in the lively lounge that was packed on a Tuesday evening!

8oz Bacon Wrapped Filet with Brussel Sprouts

The location is below ground, which was pretty cool. We arrived for our reservation and we were seated immediately. The assistant server came over and poured our water and let us know our server would be by shortly. The only thing I would have liked differently is a menu with all drink options presented when you are seated, not just the wine list. The server had to come back twice with the other 2 options. We ordered our food and drinks and as we waited, warm fresh bread was brought out. Our food was served at the perfect temperature. The sides were delicious as well. We both ordered the Bacon Wrapped Filet. Sides were a loaded baked potato and brussel sprouts. Our server and server assistant were great! The lighting was perfect and it was a nice quiet atmosphere.

Had a wonderful dinner out last night with friends here. Fantastic food, wonderful service and a great atmosphere. Fun that it is an underground restaurant. Adds to its uniqueness!

You have to know this place is here, since it's an underground restaurant, but what a find! Staff is friendly, atmosphere is elegant, but still casual. Lots of football memorabilia to enjoy as well. From their appetizers to the amazing NY strip, it was a food experience you don't want to miss. Truly a memory making place. Our dessert was the chocolate tort and the berries and cream. Recommend the tort, but the cream was honestly a bit strange and not something I'd recommend. If you're in Fort Collins and have a little bit to spend, this is a great spot!

Not positive- so suggest calling to ask if they have a separate kid's menu. But honestly it's not the type of place you would bring kids to. More of a date night/special occasion place.

A very strange thing happened tonight (a Sunday when the bar was sparsely populated). I walked in…read moreand asked for a beer. The bartender, an older guy I had not seen there before, flatly told me he could not serve me. I talked to this bartender pleasantly, wondering what led him to that decision as I had just walked in. He said I was "wobbly." That was a first. I'm 70 and one of my knees "gives" at times, but by no means do I wobble. I was quite sober. I had enjoyed a single beer at dinner before walking in, intending to watch some soccer recaps on the many TVs there before going home. It was a very short interaction. Neither of us got ugly. Nobody raised their voice. And bars have the right to refuse service. No bartender should ever serve someone who has had too many. But this guy misjudged me. It should have been apparent to a bartender (or anyone who has been around people who are drinking) when we talked that I was neither drunk nor impaired in any way. I left immediately and did not argue. At my age, the last place you want to be is one where you aren't wanted. But this guy was out of line. He jumped to a wrong conclusion based on who knows what. Or maybe he had an agenda, like wanting to clear the place out so he could go home on a Sunday night (but there were 30-odd other folks around, playing pool, etc.) Steak-out has a reputation of sometimes trying to clear people out early, but it was nowhere near closing time. I doesn't make sense to call it age discrimination. This guy was a bald dude with grizzled grey stubble, so apparently past 50, or he had lived a life that made him appear so. If age was the factor, he will feel the reality of age discrimination, which occurs in many places, soon enough himself. I hope this was a strange on-off incident. I had been there often when in town. I liked the sports on the TVs and the reasonably priced selection of beers. I had always had pleasant and friendly conversations with the bartenders. I have always found the bartenders there to be good people. I had never seen this guy before. I hope I don't see him again. I am a pleasant, conversational, easy-going customer who always tips well. I have never been refused service -- anywhere -- so this rude awakening came as a shock. I immediately felt for black folks who get turned away for no reason other than skin color. Lacking a coherent theory, I guess it had to be my age? I have no idea what this guy's problem was. But this bar's owners have a liability on their hands with him as he will deter good people from coming there. I have some experience working in bars and restaurants, albeit decades ago. Personnel choices are very important. Hiring him and allowing him free rein to insult customers was not a good choice. Perhaps the owner will read theses reviews, both the good and bad.

The speakeasy vibe is authentic without feeling gimmicky, and every detail has clearly been thoughtfully designed. It's a super cool speakeasy with a warm, inviting interior that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile. We had reservations and were seated right away. Just like other Brazilian steakhouses, they walk around with all kinds of meats--steak, lamb, pork, chicken, and sausages. They also have a salad bar with plenty of toppings, two types of lettuce, and several dressings. I started with the salad bar, and honestly, my salad was phenomenal. The ranch was delicious, and everything tasted really fresh. I didn't try the hot items. They brought out the appetizer plate with Brazilian cheese bread, the little fried "fry stick" thing, and plantains. The cheese bread was amazing--just as good as the location I normally go to. The fry stick was okay but didn't have much flavor, and the plantains were disappointing. They're supposed to be sweet with cinnamon and sugar, but these were bland and dry. As for the meats, my favorite was definitely the bacon-wrapped chicken--it was juicy and had great flavor. I tried the lamb, but it was very gamey, and most of the beef cuts didn't have much seasoning, so they were a bit underwhelming. Overall, it was an okay experience. Not terrible, but not great enough for me to return. The highlight was really our server, who was very kind and attentive.
