Went in for a simple P0411 check engine light so I could pass a smog and register my new car. Sonnys diagnosed extra issues I didn't have, raising the cost to $1,800+. After repairs, my car developed a new air leak and multiple misfires--they admitted they messed up a gasket and held my car over spring break. They claimed the air leak was gone and it was just bad spark plugs and coils (attempted to charge me an additional 700+). After finally picking my car back up today to get a second opinion it's shaking even worse and my check engine light is now blinking. The Air leak code is still there and now they are stating another hose could be damaged-- they didn't check to see if this is what's causing the misfires. All that they are confirming is that their repairs somehow didn't do this. I'm now out $2,000, have to miss school, and don't have a functioning car. Extremely disappointed and there's no way to contact the owner (who was the one working on my car)--would not recommend. Would give 0 stars but I don't think that's possible. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel compelled to share this experience. We trusted Sonny's for a vehicle check before a long trip of over 1,250 miles. They diagnosed that we needed a new oil pan gasket and rear oil seal and performed the work, but their repair was dangerously negligent. They broke the new oil pan gasket and tried to patch it with adhesive instead of properly replacing it, and the rear oil seal repair was also faulty. Because of their sloppy work, we ended up driving over 1,250 miles with a car that could have suffered serious engine damage. We eventually had to pay $3,700 at another shop to fix the issues properly. While NAPA/Sonsio is expected to cover the repair under warranty, we are still waiting to be reimbursed. The entire process has been stressful, frustrating, and completely avoidable. I cannot recommend Sonny's for any major repairs. Their work was careless and put our car--and our safety--at risk. About 3-4 years ago i took in my 2017 chevy spark in because the engine light was on and my transmission was not changing gears. I went to a couple repair shops but when i stopped by Sonny's they made me feel so informed and confident in repairing my car with them. They reassured me they would get my car back to me in less than a week time and I got my car back after four business days and still to this day i have never had an issue again. After two back-to-back weeks our 2018 Lexus had required maintenance performed: the water pump, serpentine belt, and coolant; suspension control arms, ball joint assembly, and sway bar link followed with an alignment. The drive to LA was the true test to Sonnys workmanship. The SUV's smooth ride drove straight for a good distance hands free before starting to drift. Sonny's gave me the best price of the 3 quotes. I made a mistake by going to get my AC changed at another shop, having to find out I came straight back to Sonny's auto to have them clean up their mess (long story). Anywho, My first visit here I had a rattling muffler issue in my FRS that I sent to Sonny's auto to get checked (I previously went to two other shops who couldn't figure out what the issue was). Since Sonny's were booked that day, they took a look at it the next day, and within a few hours they called me to let me know that my car was ready. Went to pick it up and asked Chris what the issue was, and he said all he saw was metal shavings rattling around underneath there, he took them out and didnt hear it since. Funny how two other shops coudn't figure it out, on top of that they only charged me half the labor!!! My second time coming here, I made a mistake getting my AC fixed at another auto shop, but after getting my AC done at this other place (again long story) to cut it short, a few days after getting this AC fix and "free" oil change (at this other auto shop) my fuel pump system goes out...so I get my car towed to Sonny's and the next day him and their crew get it up and running. They do an inspection on the car after, and find out this other shop that said they did my oil change didn't even do it. When all said and done Sonny's Auto fixed my fuel pump, flushed out my engine, changed my spark plugs, and did that oil change within a day after getting my parts. I was very very pleased! I wont have anyone else touch my car, they're honest and price is worthy! The "Malfunction Light" showed up on my car dash panel. I was familiar with the "Check Engine Light", this one was new to me . I looked it up in my Owners Manual and what I read is that it could be really serious. I went to "YELP" to find a good mechanic. I decided on Sonny's in Henderson. I called and talked to Jissel and she said to bring my car in. Come to find out that I had an EVAC LEAK. They were able to find the leak, order the proper parts and fix my favorite Chrysler 300. I even had them do an overdue OIL CHANGE. My car was good as new. I feel that the charges were appropriate for all the work that was done. Jissel, at the front desk, was very friendly and helpful. The service advisor who worked on my car was friendly and explained the procedure that was needed. I will continue to go to "Sonny's" for any future automotive needs. read more

Do not contact this company they will screw you over on pricing and on top of that will quote you different from when you bring your vehicle in to after they decide what needs to be done. I only went in to get specific work to be done and told them that when I first called in to schedule service. They quoted me $240 at first and then the girl up front calls me to let me know there's "other repairs" my vehicle needs. I told them I had the dealership look at my vehicle before bringing it in and I didn't need any other work done. They still proceed to tell me it needs other things and grand total was about $2K which was way over than the dealership quoted me and I immediately told them No! I am saddened to write a negative review about Sonny's Auto Repair as I do like the people who works there. I took my 2006 Dodge Sprinter Van to get it serviced, including an oil change, replace engine filter, and a diagnostic test as the van went into limp mode a few times while driving. Their test didn't read anything, which I'm fine with. The problem was when I got the van back, I started to have another issue with the oil symbol and the word "HI" underneath it, (which was not there before we took it in). It turns out, they over-filled the oil and we had to drain out about 2 quarts just to get it to the level it needed to be. The engine filter did not look new either. The whole service could have potential damage the engine. I'm so disappointed as I had really high hopes of their service. So I went to get a list of things done that my dealership recommended. Kinda like a second opinion. Sonny's inspected and confirmed the things that the dealership recommended. They put an estimate to me in writing. One of the items to be done were my brakes. After picking up my truck I drove off. I started hearing brake noise again soon after. The owner Chris followed up with me and I told him that. I brought the truck back and they said it was fixed. The noise squealing noise started back up. I drove like that for a while. Chris followed up again and asked how it was going. I told him the brakes were still making noise. He never responded to that. I finally today took my truck to my dealership for them to do the inspection, and they told me that when the brakes were replaced the rotors were never resurfaced. So they resurfaced the brakes, and what do you know. No noise! I've taken my truck to Sonny's before and they normally do good work, but in this regard they failed as far as the brakes go. read more

Needed to get my AC repaired and was recommended to get a completely new AC system. In my opinion I felt like my AC wasn't inspected at all. I wasn't given a diagnostics report to let me know what was wrong with my AC and that's not normal for a shop. Every shop that I've been to they explain to me in detail in writing what needs to be fixed and why. I paid $70 for the diagnostics but they didn't diagnose anything they didn't even say anything about my check engine light being on which was very odd so I basically paid $70 for them to recommend me to get a new AC system. Had to go elsewhere and they found out what the problem was. I saved myself almost 2k going to a different shop and now my AC is fixed! read more

I also informed the receptionist when I made the appointment that I would be out of town for a couple days after dropping off the car and asked if that would be an issue. She assured me no problem we can keep the car until you're back. Not only did I receive a quote just to fix the leak in the coolant line for over $1000.00, but when I informed them that the cost was too high they demand I pick up the car the next day "because they're not a storage facility". All I can say is WOW! Took my car to Sonny's on a Saturday morning without an appointment. My brakes had started to make a gnarly sound the night before and I needed to drive back to California that night. I searched on Yelp and many auto shops are closed or appointment only on Saturdays. I got to the shop right when they open at 8am. Carla greeted me and at first wasn't sure if they could squeeze me in, but Conor (I think that's his name, sorry if I got it wrong) was able to since it was a minor brake issue. I left the shop since they told me it would be a couple hours. About an hour later, I received a call from Carla. She said that my brakes were still at about 80-90% but Conor applied brake conditioner and my car was good to go. When I went to go pickup my car, I was ready to pay. But to my surprise, they didn't charge me anything! I don't think I have ever been to an auto shop, got my problem fixed, and walked out without paying a dime. We brought the car to the shop and Chris in the front desk was very kind and knowledgeable. He asked a mechanic to take the car for a test drive and during the inspection; Matt identified significant wear on the tires so he recommended all four tires needed to be replaced. At the same time, we have to replace other parts while we're there but the parts have to be ordered. They always called us with updates and provided an itemized work order. I'm reasonably new to the area and am still finding things around here. You know gardeners, pool cleaners etc. One I needed was a good auto mechanic. Well I think these guys maybe solved that. I say maybe because I've only been there once for an oil change. They checked out the rest of the car and found one of the seals was leaking and the air filters were dirty. They showed me all of them so I could tell they were on the up and up. Got it done in record time and a reasonable price. I brought my car in a few years ago for brakes. I'm no car guru but I know a thing or two about cars, just don't have the time, tools or patience to do most things. When I brought it in, tight off the bat I could tell these guys were gonna be my new Mechanics as I was new to the area. They gave me a quote with and without rotors. When it came time to make a decision, they told me it was smarted to replace the rotors. They explained they could turn the rotors and use the same ones that were on there, but more then likely they would warp causing issues down the road, and possibly ruining my calipers. So I did replace them. They could have taking the easy way out and turn the rotors, knowing that I would be back in several months to replace the pads and possibly have to fix more stuff making them more money.... They didn't do that they were HONEST! Been coming here ever since. All three cars come here for maintenance, and I refuse to go anywhere else. They guys know their stuff,they are very respectful, down to earth and above all honest. The waiting room is ALWAYS clean, and everytime I have walked in,they were hard at work in the back. I've seen so many mechanics of the years when you walk in they're just sitting at the desk making everybody else do the work but not these guys. These guys are always in the garage doing work. My daughter's car was broken into and the steering column and ignition was damaged, I called Sonny's and talked with Chris. He said to have it towed in and they would check it out and get an estimate for me. It was towed in and Chris got a hold of me within an hour or so and gave me the estimate and the timeframe for parts. The estimate was far less than half of what it cost me before (this is the second time her car was damaged in the last six months) and the parts were only a few days out. The car was dropped off on Tuesday, and before noon on Friday Chris texted to let me know that it was ready for pickup.
