I really like this place. I've been here 4 times now (always in the drive through), and the combo meal with a side and drink is a great deal. The sandwich is definitely best on the garlic bread and the mac and cheese is awesome! I prefer the pulled pork. I got the pulled chicken one time and wasn't super impressed. Our visit to Sonny's this past weekend turned out to be another occasion when we walked into a restaurant and didn't recognize any of the wait staff, and should have turned around and walked back out again. Alas, we did not. We ordered Redneck Egg Rolls for our appetizer, and those actually turned out to be the best item we got, but they still weren't very good, at least compared to batches of them we had gotten before. We both got pulled pork plates; the wife ordered a lunch-sized one, and I got the dinner-sized one. When the orders came out, the servings were almost exactly the same size even though the dinner-sized one cost several dollars more. If anything, the lunch-sized one was slightly larger. If the servings are going to be the same size then they should charge the same price. As for the food itself, the main problem was that the pulled pork tasted...not *bad* but...I think the best way to describe it is that it tasted like leftovers, not a fresh meal. And, we both got double French fries for our sides because we intended to get a salad to go with the meal (more on the salad bar below). Well, the fries weren't horrible, but they weren't crispy enough. And one final minor gripe...the cornbread muffin that came with my meal was refrigerator cold when it came out with the other food, so I got the waiter to bring me another one that had been warmed (in a microwave, no doubt). As it turned out, the lettuce on the salad bar was iffy looking enough (this is the 3rd visit in a row that it's been like that) that neither of us wanted to risk it, so we just got the salads taken off of our tickets (it may not bother some people, but I don't eat salad out of a container that has black & brown chunks mixed in with the rest). We mentioned this to our waiter, and he told us he'd go talk with the manager. He came back in a bit and said that the lettuce would be switched out to a fresh batch; it never was, so we got him to take the salads off the bill. Besides, they had just opened for the day, so the lettuce had no business having old/blackened chunks mixed in it anyway. Our meals were so "good" that we both left more than half our food uneaten. To be clear, none of the food they brought out to us was bad enough to send back and ask for a refund on, but none of it was good either. "Leftovers" is the word that keeps coming to mind for me when I think of what it was like. Well, except for that old, nasty lettuce in the salad bar. Service was mostly okay (though a bit slow at times), but not good enough to make up for the food. read more

Waitress Elena was definitely in need of training. She got our drinks, never left or offered a straw, never got plate for salad bar (finally had a different waitress get it)and could not find Elenafor 10-15 minutes. Never refilled our drinks, food came and Big deal sandwich had very little meat, asked her about it and she said that is how they serve them now . She brought the rest of the food and forgot the corn nuggets and had to order them. She disappeared and we never got refills on drinks had to go to bar to get soda refills. Finally got the corn nuggets about halfway through our meal. Had to find her to get our bill, Togo box and drink. Very disappointed experience. People across from us ordered drinks and waited 20 min for them, she never came back and checked on them and they needed refills also. Several unsatisfied guests at Elena's table. Everything about this visit was disappointing and disgusting, but then that is what Sonny's has become. The food was cold and tasted awful, the restaurant was filthy, the atmosphere terrible (serving liquor and playing rock music), the menu pathetic, the seating uncomfortable, the prices too high. I used to love Sonny's BBQ but no more! You've lost your touch, and lost me as one of your most loyal customers. I won't be back. read more

The food at this restaurant was outstanding, the managers and customer service aspects were way below par. My husband and I enjoyed a meal here last week and I found out I was charged more than I specifically wrote on the credit receipt, I called on a Thursday and was told I would here for a manager that day or the next I had not heard anything by Saturday so I called they said they didn't see any problem with my credit card receipt so I checked my bank they had fixed the problem but hadn't bothered with the simple courtesy to tell me that. When I called back to let them know that yes it had been all adjusted on my credit card there wasn't an I'm sorry it happened, there wasn't is there any thing else I can do for you to fix this, he just rudely was just like OK, bye. I love the food there but the management sucks and they don't crap about basic customer service apparently!! read more

Unprofessional and subpar catering service. Made reservations weeks ago for an out-of-town party of 35. We were not told until days prior to the event that the private dining room was unavailable due to renovations. But, the staff stated they could section off a part of the restuarant to accommodate our large group. (We would later learn this was complete dishonesty!) It was too late to select another restaurant. We arrived for dinner. The staff had our party scattered around the restuarant. Then, they wanted us to walk through a construction zone to access our buffet line. No! The meat was cold and we had to request the cornbread, which had been pre-ordered weeks ago. It was embarrassing and didn't show well for Southern hospitality. I was too angry to enjoy the meal, let alone be in this restuarant. I stayed long enough to host my group, pay the bill, tip the waiter and leave the restuarant. Though a discount was added to the group's bill, I will never host another event at Sonny's Bar-B-Que. I will not attend any events where Sonny's Bar-B-Que is catering the meal. I do not recommend this restuarant for group (or any) events. Take your money elsewhere. Lesson learned! read more

On June 4th 2019, I ordered dinner through the Waitr App. I ordered a family feast which was supposed to include lean sliced brisket, sliced pork, house dry rubbed ribs and pulled chicken. I also ordered another pound of house dry rubbed ribs along with sides, lemonade and iced sweet tea. When the food arrived and I opened the bag to discover that all of the food that I ordered was not delivered. I was missing the extra pound of house dry ribs, the sweet tea and the "lean" brisket was not lean by a long shot..on top of that the house dry rubbed ribs were so hard/tough that when bitten whatever was coming off the bone was hard as leather. Because I have a family of six to feed the food delivered was not going to be enough to feed them. I promptly called the restaurant and asked to speak to the manager. Matt (the manager) told me that he couldn't help me unless I came in to the restaurant to pick up the food or he could write my name down for replacement food on another date...I responded by telling him that that's no help at all. We are all ready to eat, had waited over an hour for the delivery and was not prepared to make a trip to Warner Robins for a food pick-up that we had paid a delivery fee for and tipped the driver!! I was beyond upset at the nonchalant demeanor of Sonny's barbecue so called manager. Matt also told me that he couldn't contact Waitr to deliver and he couldn't refund any of the $105.46. As you can imagine now I'm really heated. I ended up calling Waitr and was refunded a portion (not nearly enough) for our inconvenience. Needless to say....I had never eaten at Sonny's and still haven't nor will I ever patronize this establishment again!! It's one thing to get a poor product (food) but poor customer service is unacceptable!! read more

The BBQ was good. Our waiter was very friendly but obviously not very experienced. They serve soda in a very large cup, which I liked because I didn't need to be refilled as often. I had the mac n cheese and mashed potatoes on the side. Both were edible, but the mac n cheese was not worth my time to eat. Always love coming here when in town on business. I think this was my last time. Food is okay, not the best by other Sonny's I have been to, but still better than others. My server was Becky and she must be the hardest working server there because she was busy and others were just standing around checking phones or complaining. I, a table of one, had to wait at hostess stand for a good period of time and was not welcomed until a server apologized stating he would be over to help as soon as he could. Then the real hostess came over with as much attitude as I ever seen in a restaurant...complete with facial expressions and all. It was my fault she had to stop complaining w/ her co-worker and seat me. She was a young punk...a real peach...she scorned me because I mistakenly came up to the register to pay and snarled..."who was your server?" "You need to find her and have her cash you out." Becky quickly came to the rescue and took over and apologized. That is why she got a great tip...Sonny's in Warner Robins will get no more money from me. read more

They have most of the BBQ staples like pulled pork, grilled chicken, and ribs. I've never had a bad meal here, but it's just about average as far as BBQ restaurants go. Some of their sauces are nice, but again nothing special. Since Po Folks closed, it's probably a good contender for #1 in Warner Robins at the moment, though. read more

This has by far been the worst experience looking for part time employment. Ashley one of the Managers calls me to come take a test for the job which I agree to do she even stated in the voicemail she will work with me so that I can come take it on the weekend being that I work a full time Monday-Friday job. I come in on a Saturday at 2:30 pm because I was advised the best time to take the test from 2-4. I simply ask one of the server Erin are we allowed to use a calculator on this test because these questions they ask are out of left field . I then had an emergency come up that I had to leave and asked Erin the server if she could ask Doug the other manager is I could come back Sunday to finish the test . I was told by Erin yeah he said that is fine. So I leave and come back today and was told by one of the host that Doug doesn't know anything about me taking a test when in fact he gave me the test the day before. The host then says he says to come back later as they are extremely busy, which is fine I understand because I've worked in restaurants before . Before I leave Stephanie another so called manager gets an attitude saying they are busy and they aren't worried about no test . (Exactly how she said) not good grammar or word use at all . I tell Stephanie ok I'll call back later and ask Ashley when I can come back to finish my test and I leave . I call back around 3 I talk to Doug he says "Ashley is here but is unavailable what do you need". I tell him I'm trying to find a good time to come back and finish the test. He says oh we aren't hiring. I ask why was I told y'all were when I applied on indeed . He says I don't know ? Yes I did get frustrated and tell him they are unorganized and I hung up . I then get a call from Bren or whatever her name is . She tells me since I want to tell them they are disorganized she will tell me . I said ok . She says first of all you asked to use a calculator on the test and that shows us your lazy. I listed and said I work a full time job of three years and I'm looking for part time work how am I lazy ? I hang up on her too because mat this point they are showing how management works at a local restaurant that obviously has no standards and just hire and body to be in management. I tell her I am no longer interested if this is how they are. I have learned that working for a Fortune 500 company with properly trained and equipped management is to compares to restaurant management. This was definitely a God send telling me I am better than this and not the right place to work . read more

Wonderful establishment. As soon as you walk in the door you're immediately greeted very warmly by the hostess. We were sat with a gorgeous lady named Lisa. Stunning looks and a friendly smile, but more importantly--stunning service! She made our date night above and beyond what we expected. We were treated like family and had our every need met. The food was delicious and delivered quickly and correctly. We ordered the tasty Redneck Eggrolls, I had a trip to the well stocked salad bar, and for our entrees we had a steak burger-chargrilled yumminess, and the Carolina sandwich--crisp coleslaw on perfectly pulled pork with such a good sauce. Fries were hot and well seasoned. Drinks stayed refilled. We tipped 75% because it was just that amazing an experience--and you should too! Go in, request Lisa, and you'll have the meal of you month, if not your life! read more

So I found out my then fiance was getting deployed. We had two weeks to plan a wedding for about 10 people. I had never been to Georgia and had no idea where to go, but he convinced me that Sonny's was the place. Oh my goodness, was he right. Not only did the openly accommodate all of us, the gentleman helping us was SO helpful. When he heard that quite a few of us had never been there, he brought out samples of the different kinds of meat so we knew what to order. For an appetizer, we ordered the Corn Nuggets and the Redneck Egg rolls. The corn nuggets are to die for. fried perfectly, creamy, sprinkled with a tiny bit of powered sugar, and oddly perfect with bbq sauce. The egg rolls were VERY different, but very good! We all ordered the All-you-can-eat meal. As a tip, if you order either of the two ribs, you can substitute any of the other meats for your refill. The ribs were fall of the bone, and the rest of the meats were amazing. We all ordered different sides, and they all had amazing flavor. I had the mac and cheese and the sweet potato. Both were perfectly cooked, and the sweet potato came with cinnamon butter which was perfect! The second time I went, we tried the salad bar with our meal to see what there was. The other reviewer who said that he "wouldn't exactly call a place with a salad bar a true bbq house" obviously didn't look at it carefully. half of the salad bar was actual salad and toppings. The food is TERRIBLE and the service is even worse! If you complain to the managers they don't bother to even act like they care. Now the main reason I won't ever go back. I have served 23 years in the military and just recently returned from my 4th deployment to Southwest Asia. My daughter worked at Sonny's and they fired her for taking the day off that I returned home from overseas. Their policy that is written in their employee's orientation book states that employees must give them at least a 4 hr. notice when taking off work. My daughter gave them 2 full days notice and made numerous attempts to get someone to take her shift. The managers lied and said that they tried to call my daughter on her cell phone to tell her to come to work anyway. I checked her phone records and she did not have a single call from anyone who worked at Sonny's. She had never gotten in trouble nor had to be counseled for anything prior to that day. I talked to the owner about this and he said that my daughter should have taken 1 hour off to spend with me and then came in to work the day that I returned home. She was originally scheduled to work 1 shift that day and after she requested the day off to welcome me home, they scheduled her to work a double shift that day. This place has a sign on their door stating that they support their troops. If this is how they support their troops, I will never spend another cent to support them! Just FYI, the same person owns the Sonny's in Warner Robins as well. The food is TERRIBLE and the service is even worse! read more

I have stopped going to Sonny's in the last couple of years. The ribs are dry and tough and so is the chicken. I was a loyal customer for years until the same thing happened 3 times in a row. There are too many other good BBQ places in town that serve great bbq so I no longer eat at Sonny's. read more
