I had a horrible time getting rid of ants in the summer. I call many different companies. Some were higher some lower. These guys made it out to my house before the weekend. I had already been fighting with ants for over a week and had had it. Tammera, was so pleasant on the phone and got me someone out the next day! Jesus, was on time, friendly and made me feel at ease. Update 5/2020- 2 stars After leaving the review the owner finally did contact me (I wish he would have responded to on of my MANY calls beforehand so it didn't need to escalate). He came out and put in bait gel in the outlet areas of 2 rooms- apparently that is what should have be done on the 2nd or 3rd visit- not waiting for the 6th visit. There shouldn't have been 6 is it's just spraying when that obviously wasn't working. Anyways after that visit it was better for a few days then bad again. I called after waiting the 5 days as instructed and the owner came out again- he said now it's just spray until the bait woks. Well we did that 2 more times and I was just done. And guess what? Target sell the ant bait gel. So all you need to do is spend $7 on gel and unscrew your outlet cover near the ants and put some in. I had to do it 2 more times in 2 different areas of the house but didn't even use the whole tube. So I could have saved the $135 and months of headache. Don't call them, just do it yourself. I wish I could leave 0 stars (what's up with that Yelp?). I am SO angry right now. I have ants. I called Sonoma Valley Pest Control and had Vaughn come out and do a inside and outside treatment for $130 (stupidly I tried to help the small business and paid by check. Next time I'm using my credit card so they could help me fight terrible companies like this!). The ants didn't go away. So he came again. Still ants. Again. Still ants. 5 times and still ants. That's 5 times I had to rearrange my work schedule and appointments to be home for a 2 hr window. That's 5 times I've lost income because I am a small business owner too. I have called repeatedly (3 times in the last 5 business days) and asked for the OWNER to call me back. He's TOO BUSY?!?! The office says he's in the field and too bus to talk to customers?!?! I own my own business as well. I am a company of 1. That means I do EVERYTHING- I see my clients, do the marketing, the taxes, education, deal with ALL aspects of owning a business. My issue with SVP isn't that they didn't get rid of my ants. It's that there is a 60 day guarantee and after wasting my time for 5 visits already I want my money back. The owner not only won't refund my $130 but also won't even bother to call me back! Don't ever do business with a company that doesn't care about it's clients and won't bother to speak with you. If I wanted service like that I would have gone to a big company where I am just a number. My house was a spider castle - they were everywhere, and the webs were full of dirt (probably because I hadn't gone after them in a couple of months). It was out of control! And I had 3 wasp nests with aggressive occupants. I called this company who sent a service guy out the next business day. Jesus and Oscar just came out and removed a paper wasp nest from our shed. Actually, they removed two. I only knew about one, but Oscar quickly located a second one on the other side of the shed. Go Oscar! Both Jesus and Oscar were friendly and very informative, and Oscar took an extra moment to show the nest to my curious son, and explain how it works. The woman who returned my call to schedule an appointment, whose name escapes me, was also very kind. I called at 8pm last night and left a message with their answering service, and received a return call before lunch today. All in all, a fantastic experience. When the guy next door totally renovated his house, roof to floor, all of a sudden we had rats! We bought our house 5 years ago renovated, and never had a problem until a few months ago. Nothing seemed to work and then Jesus came to call upon our rats. Jesus quickly found where they were coming in from, they were presently all out on "rat business" , Jesus sealed the hole. He put bait traps in under the house "just in case". If you have a varmint problem we highly recommend having Jesus pay a call. Sonoma Valley Pest Control is (surprise, surprise) a pest control company, but the closest Yelp category I could find was "home inspectors." I started using SVPC in 2007, after some bad experiences with one of the national-brand pest control companies. SVPC is also the company my employer uses, so that is what prompted me to give them a try. They have been great. Besides finally solving my "ant" problem, their quarterly applications have also solved my "daddy longlegs" spider problem in my entryway and in my garage. My uncle and Aunt use Sonoma Valley and Jesus is the one who goes to service their homes. I called to set up an appointment to have someone come out to check for rodents. I spoke with Lisa who was very helpful in getting me on schedule with Jesus. Jesus was very friendly and informative about our rodent situation. I called the office to find out what day I was on schedule for my follow up. When I asked Lisa for a date and time she was very short with me. Her reply was, " Well, two weeks from Friday the 9th is Friday the 23rd." Yes, I understand that two weeks from the initial date of service (4/9) is the 23rd, but what if Jesus had the day off or I was scheduled for another day? I explained to Lisa I wanted to be home when Jesus is there to express a couple concerns I have. Maybe I was asking for to much? Or Maybe she was having a bad morning? I didn't think asking for a date and time would be so upsetting to her. I'm going to continue with services because of Jesus and the relationship we have formed with him. We had hired SVPC for quarterly spraying around the foundation of our home. Wherever walkways abutted our house, rivers of excessive pesticides would stain the hardscaping. We called to ask for an alternative. Next time they came the problem was truly horrendous, as these two photos show. We called the office manager and asked to speak to the owner. The owner did not bother to call and had the employee who did the spraying call instead. We were told not to worry about our grandkids or dog or our own health because the spray was organic. Hmmm. A few hours earlier we had been told to stay away from the stuff until it had dried. Is it toxic or not? Regardless, what a ridiculous mess it made. The stains remained even when the rivers dried. And for the owner of this small business not to call, well, that was the last straw. We cancelled our account. Surprise, surprise. NOW the owner calls and tries to tell us how concerned he is. Totally useless. An absolute waste of time and money. At the beginning of summer, I paid $250 to have them inspect the swallows nests on my house, of which they got half of the money, because it was through a referral agency. They couldn't do anything about it at that time due to protection laws, but said they would come up with a preventative solution after the birds left towards the end of summer, and that their inspection fee of $125 would go towards the final cost. When it came time, I called them up, and they said they would put together a quote for me. About a week later, I called back and they said it would be too expensive for them to do the job. When I probed them further, they tried to blame it on me saying that I wasn't receptive to their solution during the initial inspection, which is completely false -- I said that I would have to get permission from the HOA. When I tried to ask for some refund, first they said they only get a fraction of the total fee, trying to down play how much they got. I reminded them that that *fraction* is 1/2, which turns out to be $125, no small peanuts here. Well, they still refused because they did come out to do the inspection -- gas, time, etc... So basically I ended up paying them $125 for them to come out to my home and months later tell me they can't do anything about it. What a scam. I ended up hiring a window washer to come and clean up the mess and install some netting, all for $435. read more

The woman answering the phone informed me that the base rate was more like $600. When pressed, the woman remarked that they needed to "change" that advertising. Ya think..? I've never had a pest problem before, when I heard critters crawling in my attic I was really worried. I was also concerned about who I was going to let into my house to take care of the problem. I usually take care of problems myself, but this was more than I knew how to handle. I called Sonoma Valley pest control because they are a local business and I'm so glad that they sent Jesus because he identified the problem right away and within two months the rats were gone. He showed me where the critters are getting in and I was able to fix that part myself. Somehow we ended up with bugs, lots of bugs in our office. The building mananger called Sonoma Valley Pest and they came right out. Jesus came in and told us the bugs were cockroaches. Yuck. He used a odorless paste type stuff. He even helped us clean up the bugs that were there. Nice and Professional and willing to help. On was on auto pay with SVPC for years but when I moved South and my nephew took over the house, apparently PVPC only came intermittently as my nephew complained the service was rarely consistent. Yet they accepted my monthly payment. I've been trying to sort it out with them for about 7 months. First there was no one on the office and then finally, I get through to a gal who reviewed my account with me over the phone and confirmed for at least 6 months I had paid for service I did not receive. She told me she's take it up with Ron. I hear nothing and call again a few months later (I've stopped auto pay at this point.) I was in town last January and insisted they service the house and make up for the credits. In my opinion an unsavory and overly talkative person comes to service the house who says he is a friend of Ron's. Okay, at least the house was serviced. One down, five or six to go. The nothing again until March. And they send me bills for the service so they apparently will not make up for the money they took without servicing the house. Just got off the phone with "Tiffany," who promised a month ago that she would look into this and then today tells me she didn't get to it cause she was on vacation for nine days (out of 30) and feels her apology should suffice and I believe behaved as if my irritation was unwarranted. She became extremely testy and let me know she had no authority to credit the account and that I would have to talk to Ron. I've been trying to talk to Ron for seven months. Tiffany's unprofessional behavior was the last straw for me. She will proudly tell you she has years of customer service experience but loses her patience after about five minutes of questioning. I canceled my service today and I have been a customer since 1998. Beware of this company. They are not what they used to be. If you use them, make sure they show up, cause in my experience they will bill you whether they have or haven't. read more

I then called the office to explain what their tech said to me, and that I was willing to see if they would work with me. As a respectful member of this community, I called In good faith to see if they would be receptive to a compromise of some sort. I was treated disrespectfully by Tiffany who continued to escalate with her argumentative attitude her rudeness to the point I hung up on her. I had asked for the owner to call me and she accused me of raising my voice as I remained calm dealing with anyone who is unreasonable and accusatory. How dare I be treated with such disdain. I feel the owner would be wise to contact me. HERE IS AN UPDATE: THANK YOU RON THE OWNER FOR CREDITING ME THIS BILL. I AM TRULY DELIGHTED WITH YOUR UNDERSTANDING DECISION. I will say that your staff is rude and argumentative. Their customer service skills are accusatory and dishonest statements were made. I was put on the defense unfortunately and feel your staff could use classes in conflict resolution. I would not be writing this post if I felt I was treated respectfully.
