the food was HOT and amazing and the people were friendly ... its the top mexican food in maricopa i give it a ten out of five

1. Location, Parking & Seating Sonora Dog is easy to get to with plenty of parking and a sheltered outdoor seating area with tables and chairs. The surrounding area is generally clean and well-kept, which makes it a comfortable spot to stop and eat on location. 2. Service Experience Customer service has consistently been just okay. I'm never really greeted when ordering in person, which makes the transaction feel impersonal. Online ordering is available, but it's unreliable. The issue isn't about "extras" -- it's that items that should automatically come with your meal often aren't included. For example, if you order tacos, you may not get the cilantro, onions, or sauces that are supposed to accompany them. Sometimes even paid add-ons like sour cream get missed entirely. If you want to make sure your order is complete, you're better off ordering in person and checking before you leave. Communication is also lacking a bit. 3. Food Quality & Taste Sonoran Dog: The star of the menu. Flavorful, fully loaded, and served on a super soft bun. All the toppings work well together, and it's one of the better Sonoran Dogs I've had. This is one of the few things here that feels worth coming back for. Carne Asada Loaded Fries: Flavor is fine, but the texture is disappointing. The shredded cheese (which feels more processed than fresh) dries and hardens quickly, turning the fries and cheese into one solid block. A mix of melted cheese sauce with shredded cheese would keep them hotter and creamier. Birria Tacos with Rice & Beans: This was the most disappointing for the price. I ordered two birria tacos with rice and beans on the side, and the sides were tiny -- maybe a tablespoon each. The plate cost nearly $18, which is steep considering the small amount of food. My daughter ordered the same, and paying that much for two people to get only two tacos each with minimal sides is not worth it. The portion is so small that an adult could easily leave still hungry. 4. Value for Money This is where Sonora Dog falls short. While the Sonoran Dog itself feels worth it, most other items -- especially the birria taco plates -- are overpriced for what you get. The portions do not match the cost, and that's hard to justify with other options in Maricopa offering larger servings, hotter food, and better value. 5. Consistency & Overall Experience Our visits here have been hit or miss. We used to come often, but stopped for a while because the food started to feel "off." When we finally returned, the high prices combined with small portions reinforced why we don't visit often. There's a very small list of items I would say are worth coming for -- the Sonoran Dog being the main one -- but I can't fully recommend this place overall. Between inconsistent service, order accuracy issues (even for standard items), and portion sizes that don't justify the price, it's hard to see it as good value. Final Thoughts: If you have no other options in Maricopa, it might be worth a stop for certain menu items. But with other spots offering fresher, hotter, and more generous meals for less money, I'd choose elsewhere first. Made a trip out to Arizona around Valentines Day. We were looking for a place to eat that was open late and decided to try Sonora Hotdogs. The girl that took our order was very sweet and helpful and everyone in the food truck was also so sweet. It definitely felt like a family environment. We ordered the Carne Asada Fries, the Birria Ramen and 3 Quesabirria tacos. The food was amazing and the portions were generous for the price. We paid close to $40 and ate it for dinner that evening and lunch the next day. We asked them for sauces so we could try them and they hooked it up. If you are ever in the area snd looking for a late night food stop, definitely recommend Sonora Hotdogs. We called ahead to make sure they were open and they did not disappoint!! read more

Given the constant decline in value at large fast food chains I was hoping to find something better here. I ordered the Burrito Cal with chicken and was encouraged that it had some heft. After a few minute drive home and unwrapping the foil, I was surprised to find that the burrito felt refrigerator cold. So soon after getting it, it should have been at least warm if not hot. It took a couple of minutes in the microwave to get it tolerably warm. After that, I found that most of the chicken had been cooked so that it was very tough and chewy - practically inedible. Some of the pieces were normal and tasty, indicating that they'd thrown together something acceptable with some overdone stuff that should have been pitched. Being new to Maricopa I'm always looking for a new place to try out. It doesn't matter if it's brick and mortar or a roll along food truck. Now how it looks this food truck stays stationary which is a great thing, you don't have to go and try to find it. This place was a great little truck with great food. We made this trip simple with getting all different types of tacos. These were the most flavorful tacos I ever had. Next time I will try other items that they have. The people that work on the truck were very nice to us. I asked for a little help with the menu and the girl that was taking the orders was so nice with explaining things to us. Atmosphere - A food truck, okay a trailer, that parks in the same spot a few nights a week.  They are located in one of the older strip malls of Maricopa.  The place has character compared to most of Maricopa that has been recently built.  Their menu is all Mexican food.  Bright yellow trailer off to the side of one of the older complex.  The white board style menu is too basic, and should be updated to something easier to read.  They do have a large outdoor covered seating area with half the area filled with tables.  I would say boarding on a barn atmosphere as the other half the ground is covered in hay. Dinner - I ordered two Sonora Hot Dogs, total with credit card charge was under $10.  Wikipedia states a Sonora Hot Dog is hot dog that is wrapped in bacon and grilled, served on a bolillo-style hot dog bun, and topped with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of additional condiments, often including mayonnaise, mustard, and jalapeño salsa.  Mine did not come with pinto or any other type of bean.  I knew about the Sonora Hot Dog but had no clue about the bolillo bun, wow that was great surprise.  My first bite but was too sweet, it was mostly the mustard, ketchup, and salsa with the dog.  I added the green salsa, heat and the cheese crumble made the dog.  The salsa cups are tiny, but one cup per dog worked perfectly.  Wow I am huge fan of their Sonora Hot Dog, I want to try other versions now. Service - Pretty simple.  I was asked to move my car, they really should block the west parking lot off better.  I was not planning to park their that long, it was just hit and run type of night.  But moved to a numbered parking spot per their request. You know I used to love this place....but not so much these days. The last 4 times I've been here, they've gotten my order wrong and, I'm not even ordering anything complicated. It's the same order everytime. The first time they messed up my order, I reached out to the owner who said "sorry". The 2nd and 3rd time I let at least a month go by before going back. Now after last night, I'm not sure I'll be back. We always order a bnc burrito and we add asada. The last few times our burrito was just beans and meat. We order super nachos with everything yet the nachos didn't have any Pico and else even told them at the time of order everything on them. The pastor tacos have no pinapple. I don't know how a business could fall so hard so fast. 6 months ago I would order from this food truck just about every day. In the last month or so food quality is not there anymore. Service is mediocre at best and in the last month nonexistent. If ordering food through a delivery service it's even worse. Today I ordered again after not buying from this truck for a while because of their lack of service primarily the I don't care attitude they have. Today I received a Styrofoam container like usual but with an important caveat and treat included, a large hole on the top and 2 out of 6 tortillas for the taco I ordered were missing. The ingredients were still there but no tortillas. I mean I guess when you're overworked you can forget one of the main ingredients to the order but damn. Well as much as I enjoy a hot dog I am generally not into buying them outside of a grocery store unless I am at a ball game or a county fair. So in error, I had passed up on stopping at this food cart many times over. Now after a few years of just driving past them I learn that they are much more than a hot dog vendor, it turns out that they have what is in my opinion the best tacos in Maricopa. If you have not had barria tacos this is the place to come experience them!
