It's a shame, we used to eat here when we went out to Lake Las Vegas. Been here probably a dozen times. Food was decent, good views on the patio and a good happy hour. Today ruined that for us. Had family in from out of town & decided to bring them here. We ordered from the happy hour menu - several draft beers, margaritas and a few food items. Service was ok, it was strange that the waiter skipped over half of our party and we had to flag him down after he took off. Didn't care much in the moment though, just weird. Food was definitely not as good as it used to be. Then the bill came and we were charged full price for the beers, which was double the amount. We inquired and were told that what we ordered was not on happy hour. Ok, shame on us for double checking. BUT the happy hour menu says "$5 draft beer"...NOT "select", no list, no asterisk, nothing. To us, it sounds like your draft beer is $5. Also when we ordered, we were holding and pointing at the happy hour menu. The least the waiter could have done was inform us and let us decide if we still wanted it or not. When we later asked what beers were on HH, we all agreed we would have easily ordered those instead. The waiter knew what he was doing because he wasn't surprised when we brought it up. Either he was scamming us or the restaurant knows exactly what they're doing. I've seen a few other people make mention of this HH scam in various ways and wonder if it's the wait staff or the restaurants intentions. We won't be returning after the food was also not nearly what it used to be. Not worth it one bit for a local anymore. read more

We came to Sonrisa after church. 9 people waiting to get in. (103°) They open at 11:00 on Sundays. One of the men waiting in line called the restaurant. (At 11:15) They answered... they told him..They're waiting for the kitchen and the AC wasn't working!! (But yet they didn't come to the door to let everyone know. Hmm Everyone left! We recently moved to Lake Las Vegas and found this gem. The food is 5 stars. Always fresh and flavorful. Our waitress/waiter is typically Rosa and Brandon. Both take care of us like family. On other days that our waitress is off, we had the pleasure of Fluffy and his bartender skills. Bar is a great place to sit if you want to be close to the DJ when he's there and socialize. Ivan-the rat looking, short, and obnoxious bartender-has ruined this place. The food is also pretty bad. I had shrimp enchiladas. Spent the following hours vomiting. During that same visit, there was a roach crawling on the bar. Ivan is extremely rude and unprofessional. My friends and I no longer dine here. Because of the food quality and Ivan. The rest of the staff is pleasant. We used to spend Fridays and Saturdays there. Eating, drinking, and enjoying the dj set. Ivan has left such a bad taste in everyone's mouth. Other LLV friend circles have shared the same complaints. Fluffy and the rest of the former crew were awesome. read more

I'm not sure why there are some bad reviews on here? I saw one person complaining about cold food on here! The food we received was piping hot, like still literally steaming! I had a chicken burrito and it was fantastic! I think some reviewers are so used to Taco Bell garbage, that they think "Mexican Food" needs to be over salted - this is the case when it's cheap food, but not here. The Chicken in the burrito was shredded perfectly and really tender, their bar has a nice selection of drinks, and service was top notch! If you want a straight review of just the food and are willing to risk missing my comlorful commentary, scroll down to where I'm using all caps. If not, enjoy may little story! So, I came in here the other night with absolutely no voice. The restaurant was packed, which was encouraging bc the rest of Lake Las Vegas and the Hilton in wh(ich weI stayed were very quiet, probably due to the June heat. Anyway, when I first sat down, a nicely dressed gentleman (manager?) asked me how I was. I communicated as best I could that I had lost my voice, and he was adamant about checking in on me the whole time I was there. Then I met John, the bartender. Same thing, he worked with my attempts at pointing and signing everything I needed, and still included me in his conversations with the guests next to me. I had a couple of drinks and then left to meet my husband at his conference. The next evening, I returned for the great drinks and to introduce my husband, bc he had heard all about how nice everyone was there. This might, we ate. OH MY GOODNESS! As a girl with a Mexican grandma, I can tell you, this food is the real deal. I had the skirt steak, and my husband. had a quesadilla. We couldn't decide which one was better. All we knew is that we LOVED IT! They both had flavor like I haven't had since my grandma passed. We still have some recipes but not all. I also had a skinny margarita and a lemon drop martini, which were both fresh and flavorful. I was so disappointed that my husband wanted to try the Italian place nearby the next night, which was good, but it paled in comparison to this little gem. :) read more

We needed a mid afternoon snack and margaritas after a couple of hours of paddle boarding at Lake Las Vegas on a packed Saturday afternoon...the Sonria Grill took care of us.. Sonrisa Grill Ambiance & Service: Party of 6 with no reservations, Covid 50% capacity and the amazing hostess was able to get us a table in under 10 minutes as promised. Mexican villa feel, multi-level dining area and a great view of Lake Las Vegas makes for a pleasant dining environment. There was a live DJ playing the tunes at lunch, awesome. Hugo was our server and he was fantastic. He was always checking on us and was uber friendly. We were chit chatting with him throughout our visit and it felt like he needed to be enjoying margaritas with us. Speaking of which... Sonrisa Margaritas: I went with two blended fruity margaritas with an extra shot in each.. Mango: The Fresh mango flavor made this easy to take down. Pineapple & Coconut: This was my favorite as it was deliciously fruity, blended perfectly so I could barely taste the tequila. I definitely felt it though. I tasted the BFFs red wine sangria and it was yummy and refreshing. Also dangerously delicious as I could barely taste the wine. Warm chips and salsa gets you started and we never ran out of chips. We split the chicken nachos and it was fantastic. The melted white queso really brought these nachos home when paired with the fresh chicken. Overall this was so rich in flavor that we didn't finish the plate.This might be the best plate of nachos I've had in a bit. After this experience, I'll definitely return one day for a full on meal. I was pleasantly surprised with Sonrisa! We came on a weekend during phase 1 of COVID with a group of 5 people and were able to get a table within about 15 minutes. It's the perfect location to visit after some kayaking or paddle boarding on Lake Las Vegas. For starters we had some complementary chips and salsa. It wasn't super spicy, but had a good flavor. I also had the skinny marg which was very tasty. It hit the spot in that 90 degree plus weather. For a meal I had the Chile Relleno with Shrimp. It had a good flavor, but there wasn't too much shrimp included. I probably would have been fine with just the standard cheese. Overall it was still good though. I'd come back again for lunch or dinner. I'm sure the outdoor patio is amazing during those somewhat cool nights. read more

Terrible customer service. No one was attentive to us. We had to ask for EVERYTHING and NOTHING was ever brought. They also don't tell you that everything is a charge. You order an entree and the waitress asks if you want sour cream and guacamole and then when the bill comes, it's charged as a "side" not to mention the forced added gratuity they slap on your bill. We were only 6 people. I ordered a mangonada margarita and there was little to no alcohol in it. Food is mid and catered clearly to only a specific population. read more

I went here for lunch with a group of colleagues of which I was having a conference in the adjacent hotel. The location was quite convenient to the hotel and the view was great although it wasn't suitable for outside seating during the visit. Our service was good and the food came reasonably fast although disjointed in delivery timing. Thankfully I'm a fast eater so getting my food last wasn't a problem. It seemed there was only one person working the floor although there weren't a lot of people in the restaurant. We were the only table in the dining room and the rest were at the bar. I'm a lover of Chile Rellenos and will almost always order them if I find them on a menu. So that's what I ordered here. The plate lacked in presentation and was light-handed on the beans and rice, especially considering the price. This place is nearly an hour's drive from the Vegas strip. The prices should reflect accordingly. There was little flavor and no seasoning to anything on my plate. I rarely need to salt Mexican food, but I did here. There was no spiciness whatsoever. I received my plate last so the waiter was long gone before I could taste. It really needed hot sauce, which was not on the table. Thankfully one of my colleagues felt the same and we flagged the waiter. He said that he had Tobasco and Tapatio. Not hot sauce in my book. That's spicy ketchup. It was the only option though so we took that as well as another dish of the salsa for the chips and put it all over our plates. read more

We came in and we were greeted right away with a smile! Got settled down, and they started us with some fresh chips and salsa! And let me tell you! One of the best salsa I have ever tasted!! We came in on a Tuesday and in our luck, it was Taco Tuesday! So they had an option for an all you can eat! For chicken, pork, and beef it was $14.95, but if you also want shrimp and carnitaa its for $18.95. Which is not bad! Everything was so juicy and flavorful! Nice size too! I ordered a margarita and my man ordered a michelada, BOTH BOMB AF! For dessert we had a flan and churros, both super yummy! Service was great! Sayra I believe was her name! AMAZING! We were walking around Lake Las Vegas looking for what would be our next dining experience. We first heard the music and then noticed the happy people sitting on the terrace (see pic). The colors of the tables, chairs, and paintings were welcoming and inviting. The chips and salsa was warm, salty, and a perfect beginning to our meal.
