Tamam is relatively new in the neighborhood, but is a welcome addition. It is a great quick location to get a flavorful vegan lunch. This place is "chipotle style" in that you order your main and can build a pita or bowl with any toppings. The three mains are falafel, eggplant and cauliflower. I've had a lot of falafel sandwiches throughout the city but their sabich sandwich with large slices of crispy eggplant really takes the cake!! The pita is soft, the toppings go perfect with the eggplant (toppings for falafel sandwich are even different). My fav is the whole pepper, it lends its tangy crunch between bites of the sandwich. The service is great, the guy at the shop always checks to see if I would like a pepper. The store is pretty small, with a few seats indoors, but they have the sidewalk hut outside with a few more tables. Today i had their eggplant pita sandwich. It was $13 but they werent stingy with their ingredients. The eggplant is battered but absolutely no season so it was bland. Good thing for the sauces and the pickled it came with. Something was also missing...they should add kalamata or castlevetrano olives and tahini to give other flavor than spicy and salty. After detours wandering around Central Park, we were starving (which is normal for us). We randomly came across this place and they were super friendly and welcoming. And the food was ready quickly. They had additional seating outside in a patio-like area. We got the sabich (crispy eggplant) pita and falafel pita. Both were really great. I haven't had falafel like this since I lived in London! I make falafel at home based off the recipe my Uber driver gave me from his family in Sudan, and it's truly the best falafel I've ever had. The falafel at Tamam reminded me so much of the Sudanese falafel I make. It is absolutely drool worthy. I was doing a happy dance up until the last bite. They STUFF the fresh pita to the brim so arrive hungry and know you're getting your money's worth. All of the ingredients are incredibly fresh. There tends to be a rush at lunch so plan accordingly. Their hot sauce has just the right amount of spice and if one does not mind the heat, they must go for the spicy option in their order. The bundle they make has just the right amount of heat which does not linger a lot and yet provides tons of flavor. So I absolutely LOVE their food but they really don't have their act together as far as delivery goes. The last 3 times I ordered, I received a different amount of falafel balls in my side order each time. I also received a different amount of sauces each time and in fact this last order I actually received no sauces at all for quite a large order. In some ways that is more off putting because it says they don't value their delivery customers. It is so annoying to get your food and have no sauces at all for it. And this was after I wrote a beautiful instagram post that the owner thanked me for. In the post and subsequent message I told him to please be a little more generous with the accompaniments and the very next order I got none. You know there are soooooo many wonderful establishments from which I can get the same cuisine. I don't think I will be ordering again unfortunately. read more

The food here is incredibly tasty and healthful! Service is great. I particularly love the crispy eggplant! A note of caution for anyone with diverticulosis type issues: Please, please DO NOT let them put a heaping spoonful of quinoa onto your plate. In my case, I was terribly sick Wednesday night, after eating nearly every bite on my plate (lots of quinoa!) and near a full recovery today, Monday morning, but much hell between then and now. I wouldn't wish the experience on my worst enemy! I lost 9 pounds the hard way with the "runs" first, followed by nausea, weakness and really wondered if I should have gone to the hospital! Please listen to my advice! Of course, if you don't have digestive issues such as diverticulosis, go ahead and try everything, but I would still be pretty cautious with the quinoa! read more
