Thank you yelp! Once again, we were steered to a great restaurant by our fellow reviewers. And we never would have found this place or gone to lunch here without you! This turned out to be a lovely find. Small inside and intimate, low lighting, but fast and friendly service with very good food. They actually had two lunch special menus and it was almost hard deciding what to order. I chose their crispy duck requesting the brown sauce on the side. They had five levels of spice (heat) and I went with medium. I wanted a touch of zing but not too much. It was a bit too spicy for me as it turned out, but still I forged ahead. Next time I'd order my food mild (and there will be a next time!) To start you off they give you complimentary soup of the day and a fried egg roll. The soup was served as it should be -- very hot. It was a chicken based broth with a few slivers of chicken, rice, and scallions. Very good. The crispy egg roll came with a small dipping dish of sweet sauce. A nice appetizer while waiting for your main course. The duck breast was sliced and crispy served on top of al dente veggies like carrots, cabbage, and red peppers. There was a mound of white rice on the plate as well. On the side (as I requested) was a bowl of brown sauce with cubed carrots, peas, and scallions. You could see some of the red pepper flakes in the sauce too. The sauce was quite good -- thin and flavorful. Had it been less spicy, I would have had more of it. But it was my fault for ordering it too hot. With my nose running and eyes tearing, I still ate most of it. Lunch specials were quite reasonably priced as well. On the way out, we saw a lady dining on a whole fried snapper fish. It looked wonderful. And another couple enjoying pad Thai. Soong Thai is the best Thai restaurant in the West side. The atmosphere is intimate, quiet and cozy. Service is polite and cordial. I love their lunch specials. All entrees are served with soup and an egg roll. The soup was hearty and flavorful. The egg roll, fresh and crispy. The cashew nut dish is incredible! It contains bell peppers, broccoli, carrots, onions, baby corn, waterchesnut, cashews, and your selection of protein. It's nutty, sweet, crunchy and slighty spicy - so many flavors and textures. We started with the deliciously flavorful steamed dumplings. The soup that came with our entrees was a little flavorless, but my husband liked it. I got the seafood paneng (shrimp, squid, scallops) and it was phenomenal! I was a little worried the squid and scallops might be rubbery, but they were tender and juicy. My husband decided to try the crispy duck, for a change. The texture was great and he enjoyed the flavor but was jealous of my paneng curry! We finished with coconut ice cream and fried bananas. You know when you find a dish at a restaurant that's so good that you have to order it every time and it almost makes you mad because there's no way you're ever going to try anything else? That's how I feel about the panang curry here. I've been here 3 times now, each time a 5 star experience, and have only tried the Panang curry. This dish knocks it so far out of the park that I'll probably never deviate from my order. My husband likes the pad Thai and I'm pretty sure that's all he orders. Which makes me think everything must be so good that people become hopelessly addicted to their favorites and keep coming back. I'll definitely keep coming back, thanks to the service, value, taste, and atmosphere. Service - everyone is so nice and helpful. They want you to enjoy your meal and take the time to explain everything to you. (Yes, medium is pretty spicy.) Value - at $12-13 for their signature entrees, like the curries and pad Thais, you get dinner and lunch for tomorrow. The portions are generous and reheat well! Taste - I can only comment on two dishes but suspect once we do finally branch out and start ordering something else, I'll be equally impressed with the depth and range of flavor they pack into seemingly simple and humble dishes. Ordered Tom Kha Soup w chicken it was delicious but the chicken very dry/overcooked also ordered Whole Fish sauces accompaniments were delicious again the overcooked fish was disappointing some parts not chewable . Drunken Noodles w chicken again very tasty but again the chicken too overcooked, noodles used for preparation were the Normal noodles found in "Pad Thai" not the broader rice noodles (disappointing). A few years ago they have used the broader rice noodles absorbs the sauces and more delicious. I guess saving a few bucks Service was standard and polite. Soong Thai has definitely become our favorite Thai restaurant . If you sit down and order between 5 and 6 PM they have an early bird special which gives you a soup and salad at no extra charge when you order an entree. My favorite is the green curry which I have had just with vegetables and I have had it with the seafood. Both ways are great. I've also had their duck entrees which are also very good. The Pad Thai is one of the best I've ever had. I also like their Thai iced tea and their hot jasmine tea. All of their entrees are served in beautiful dishes and include an orchid on the plate. The restaurant is nicely decorated with rich dark wood on the walls and art , on the walls and sculptures. It's a small and intimate restaurant. Service is good. I highly recommend it! read more

Whew! Just finished the cashew chicken with tofu. Absolutely delicious! The veggies were fresh the tofu firm but not dry or rubbery and the sauce, simply exquisite. In fact, I loved it so much I asked for a little more to dampen my rice with. I chose the medium heat and was very happy, just a nice kick but no lasting burn. The soup was also delicious. Chicken noodle. A gentle broth with bean sprouts, scallions, dried garlic and rice noodles. The only complaint would be they are rather cheap. We just received the bill and I docked a star - yep, this was a solid 5 until the bill arrived. When I asked for 'a little bit more' of the sauce, mine was quite dry compared to hubby's, his was swimming in it. Well, they brought me some but charged $2.50 - with no heads up. Hubby's ordered his sauce as hot as possible and is now happily on fire - or he was happy until he asked for a little more coke/Pepsi and was told 'No refills'. Humph! I wasn't aware there was restaurant left in America that didn't include at least one refill. Sad end to a delicious lunch. read more

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! This might be my new favorite pad Thai place in Orlando! Their pad Thai is so good, I believe we got a medium spice level and it was perfect. It was the type of spice where you acknowledge that it's spicy but it's just so good that you can't stop. The chicken fried rice was also very good, my girlfriend loved this dish more than the pad Thai so we ended up splitting both. We also got a medium spice on this but I thought it was just a tad too spicy for my taste because it was a dry spice rather than saucy like the pad Thai. I wish I could do 4.5 stars because this is just shy of being perfect. Minor negative points explained at the end...but FYI so minor you should probably disregard. This is a great little restaurant. It's very tiny, maybe 15 tables depending on how many are pushed together. You are ushered to your seat, handed menus, and the servers are super fast and efficient. I would highly recommend this for a good, reasonably priced lunch spot. Some tips: get a lunch special. Pick your style, then your protein (or no protein - they have great seafood and veggie options as well) and you get a soup and egg roll included as well! It's all really good. If you like spicy, they have a sauce rack that they can bring over that has red pepper flakes, hot chili oil, and two other sauces to really spice it up. You can also order mild, medium, hot, or Thai hot so everyone gets that they want! If you order the chicken satay it comes with a little grill on your table! I've had a few of the entrees and they've all been delicious. Very authentic good spot. There's also news articles on the wall around the restaurant with their various foodie awards. The only downsides are it's two unisex single stall bathrooms so there can be a line and they do not accept American Express, so be sure to take out some cash or bust out your visa. Me and the boyfriend went here on a Friday afternoon. It's located in a shopping plaza and there's plenty of parking. Walking in, we were greeted by our hostess who seated us promptly. We looked at the lunch specials and the lunch menu in general, and I knew what I would get immediately -Pad see ew with Tofu. We were served with complimentary spring rolls and a clear soup with rice. The spring rolls were delicious and came with a yummy sweet sauce. The clear soup was equally good! Our items came out pretty fast and the portion size of my Pad See Ew was plentiful! I really enjoyed this noodle dish that came with tofu, eggs, sautéed broccoli, carrots, onions etc. It really tasted authentic and even my boyfriend liked his meat dish. My family and I visited Soong Thai last week for a late lunch. The food was absolutely incredible and the staff was extremely friendly. They have a separate lunch special menu that is very reasonably priced. I ordered the Duck Seafood Panang. It was prepared relatively fast but not too fast. The duck meat was a large portion and it was so tender and hearty. It was also covered in shrimp, scallops, squid and steamed vegetables. The server asked how spicy I wanted it and I said extra hot of course. She was worried for me but it really wasn't that hot. Also, every meal comes with a chicken and rice soup, as well as crispy egg rolls for the whole table. Both were delicious but I wish you could choose between the soups.
