Tried this coffeehouse for the first time. Delicious coffee. Very polite staff. They had a limited menu due to covid.

Sophie's is easily one of the best small-town coffee shops around here. The staff is always super friendly, and coming from someone who used to be a barista as well, it does get hectic when it's only two people at times. But the staff is always on it, and every time I go in there, I really feel valued as a customer. You can go to a chain coffee shop, and they don't personalize your experience. The staff at Sophie's definitely does. I definitely recommend popping in, friendly interaction first thing in the morning sets a good start to my day! read more

Coffee is good but unfortunately they use paper straws (yay for the turtles) which shred to mush after about 3 sips of the iced coffee If they care about the environment so much they should sell reusable hard plastic iced coffee cups read more

Worst service in Exeter for coffee or food. 6 out of last 7 times there they couldn't even get my cheese preference right. Had to drive home to once again find out that they didn't listen to a word I said when I had placed my order of over $35 for breakfast sandwiches,coffee etc. When I returned to bring my sandwiches back that were incorrect I believe the owner ,was very rude and kept telling me it was an accident and I had told her prior to that about 6 out of the last 7 times that they couldn't get my order correct. I will not be returning to that establishment and I would recommend that anyone thinking of going there goes somewhere else.!! Friendly staff. Great coffee. Good food. Eclectic decor. But, turn the music down!! I hate having to shout over the music to talk to the person sitting next to me. Especially when it's country western. And someone pleasee come out and clean the tables. Or leave a station with a rag with some type of cleaning solution. Pros: This place has such potential! Baked goods are always great and brewed coffee flavors are different and delicious. Sandwich/wraps are creative and tasty....and the bagel chips: yum!!!!! Cons: Customer service needs a tune up. There was a mishap with rhubarb for a pie I ordered. I wasn't interested in getting a different, same-tier pie (pumpkin, apple) as we already had some coming, so was told I could get a different pie for an upcharge. We're frequent customers so I was a little taken aback. Two days before Thanksgiving and you're going to upcharge? Should've offered a better quality product at the same price. That's just good business. Also, dining area and tables/ bar need more frequent sweeping of crumbs and such. Bathroom is in less than presentable condition a lot of the time. Yuck... read more

If you want a coffee and that's it, then sure, stop in and get one. If you want any sort of food or an order with more than one thing... avoid this place at all costs. The staff they hire act like bratty, selfish children. They will sigh and be very annoyed with you if you order more than one item. If they mess up the order and you try to bring it back, they will be aggravated with you and make you feel like it was your fault. Customer service takes a far back seat at this place and the staff has rubbed many people the wrong way. Everyone I work with has an awful story of the staff. If you want a good breakfast sandwich, go to Exeter Town Pizza down the street. read more

I love this place, I visit several times a week for breakfast. The coffee is good, with several flavors available hot or iced (I get the dark roast, iced, it's great). The baked goods are delicious, and the staff is always super friendly. Get in early and get one of the turnovers while they are still warm. Delicious! read more

Disappointing. I live right up the road and we stop here every few weeks when we need breakfast or a quick lunch on the go because we like to support local businesses instead of the chain places, because of that I really hate to leave a bad review but it's warranted. The folks working are always pleasant and as helpful as they can be but are almost always overwhelmed due to understaffing, I'd have given one star if it wasn't for their effort to try to make it work. The food is ALWAYS hit or miss, sometimes it's burned, sometimes it's not how you ordered it or even what you ordered, and sometimes it's perfect. The biggest downside though is that their prices are very high for a really mediocre product, nothing I've tried on the menu is worth the hassle or the price. There are waaaaaay better bakeries, coffee joints and sandwich shops in RI that charge less, have better and more consistent service, and put out a solid finished product. I am an out-of-towner who visited with a local friend. It's very cute! Adorable succulents on all of the tables and we even enjoyed a few games of tic tac toe. The interior is clearly still a work in progress but there's plenty of seating and nice music. I tried the chocolate covered strawberry iced coffee - a flavor roasted into the bean (no syrups!! Woo!) and it was interesting! The staff was sweet. Overall a good experience. read more

Very disappointing. Pastries are not appealing, muffins don't have 'tops' and they have Allies donuts. Trust me, I love Allies donuts, but I can drive a few miles and get them fresh from the fryers. Husband ordered an egg English muffin and it wasn't even toasted. And I'm not sure if they make anything else because there is not a menu. They have counters to sit at that face a wall. We found the wall depressing and finished our coffee in the car. It's too bad because so many failed before them and I had hoped they would be better. read more

The coffee and breakfast sandwiches are fine, but don't get Espresso drinks here. I've given them a chance twice now and each time my latte tastes like milk, they definitely don't use enough espresso. If you want a good latte I would take an extra 5 min ride down to TLC. read more
