I've been here twice now and had a great experience both times. Their Omakase pre-fixe used to be $75 a couple years ago but now it is $80 which is understandable considering inflation and the economy these days. The price is fair in my opinion for an appetizer (albacore with cucumber and seaweed), 11 pieces of sushi, miso soup (or deep fried shrimp head) and dessert (vanilla ice cream sprinkled with matcha powder). All the sushi was very fresh! I do think the portion size is slightly on the smaller end for their nigiri sushi but not by much. It was still very delicious and satisfying. We also really enjoyed their Kirakucho Junmai Ginjo Kitsune sake! So smooth! Service was great! No complaints. Definitely make reservations ahead of time. They get pretty busy and it can be hard to do a walk-in especially if you're in a group. Parking: free in plaza lot but limited spaces. There's also residential street parking nearby.

My husband and I had the omakase to celebrate my birthday and were pleasantly surprised. The lights were a bit dim and made for a relaxing experience. Definitely get a reservation!! It comes out to an appetizer (we thought was ok), 3 dishes of sashimi, including a hand roll, fried shrimp head/miso soup and ice cream. I loved how each piece had its own sauce/marinade/flavor and was truly an experience. We were worried it might not be enough food but were happily full by the end of the meal. The seafood is very fresh and the service is very attentive. Sushi Chitose is a great option if you want to stay in the South Bay and not have to drive to Little Tokyo/LA.

A hidden gem! This sushi restaurant is small and intimate but passionate about providing good quality sushi and service. Went for their omakase and added on a couple of oysters. Also had some green tea which is free refills. The kind staff is diligent about refilling drinks and checking in. I asked the sushi chef how long he has been a sushi chef and he said 40 years! What's even more amazing is that they import most of the fish from Japan except for the blue fin which is from Boston and the uni which is from Santa Barbra.

Made reservation for dinner. Tried the Ankimo and oysters which were both pretty good. Got the omakase. The food was okay. The rice was a bit dry and lacking vinegar. Would be nice to know which nigiri needed soy sauce and which fine. Service was A+++ with the waitress coming by frequently to refill drinks. 3.5 for the food. 5 for the service.

One of the most affordable sushi omakases in the area! Definitely need to call ahead and reserve (saw a sign that said they don't take walk ins). Still thought the quality was good and had some great cuts of fish. All super kind here and definitely feels like a comfy hole in the wall type spot. Also, would recommend ordering the shrimp head instead of the miso soup! It was nice and crispy and super shrimpy.

Omakase was delicious! Service was excellent. Parking lot was small but we got there right when they opened so we had parking.

Went here anticipating I would just grab take out. Instead when I got there, the open sign was not on and it said "no walk-ins" on a sign on the door so I almost left. However, seeing it was a bit of a drive to get there, I decided just to double check and go in. I wasn't super hungry and the person I talked to was super nice. I could have ordered from a list of available items, but she suggested trying the omakase experience. You pay a set price up front ($75) and leave the rest to them. I wasn't super hungry, so was a bit hesitant, but decided to give it a go. I have always heard about it, but never have done it. Wow! Such an amazing experience starting with a delicious and beautiful appetizer, then the following 12 (?) pieces of sushi artwork were something I have not experienced before, to the crispy shrimp "side"?, and the mini ice cream closer. Yum! I learned a lot from the sushi chef and experienced lots of sushi I would have never thought of trying...Japanese sea bass, raw shrimp, scallop, toro, uni with soshi, ikura, unagi, crab hand roll..to name a few. I sat at the sushi bar, solo, and another small group of three were at the end/around the corner. There were a handful of couples at the tables doing their own ordering. It was an intimate and calming space where I had the best seat to watch the sushi makings in action. So glad I took a chance on the unknown, which now is very much known. My sushi level of expectations has just been risen quite a bit after this experience. I hope I don't get too frustrated with the options we have in CO.

We came here for my birthday for my very first omakase experience, and overall, it was pretty fun! I definitely had a great time. Since it's a reservation-only place, the atmosphere is quiet and intimate. There seemed to be just one server and a sushi chef, which created a nice, personal vibe. The server took our order and promptly served each dish, being really attentive about things like getting us hot water. For $75, the omakase was well worth it, especially since many places charge way more. I did take off one star because I felt like the sushi wasn't cool enough. I usually enjoy my sushi a bit chilled, but every piece I had was room temperature, which was a bit different for me. Overall, the ambiance, service, and food quality were excellent! I'd definitely recommend it!

Surprisingly, I've always found it difficult to find decent sushi places in the South Bay. That changed when I discovered sushi chitose. It is a delicious, affordable omakase that truly reminds me of Japan. The omakase consists of several pieces of nigiri (I lost count because I was too busy eating) with a small dessert at the end of black sesame ice cream (Yum). . It costs approximately 75 dollars a person, which I think is reasonable given what you get. They have a good selection of saki which complements the meal well. This place is tiny with a few seats outside of the bar. It is also reservation only. The parking lot is small, but since the restaurant doesn't seat many people it was sufficient. The staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place!

One of my favorite omakase's in LA, super good bang for your buck. One of the few (if not only) omakase's under $100. The nigiri here is simple and fresh, chef keeps it consistent with your classic fish cuts (toro, salmon, sea bream). Ambience is cozy and warm, and service is always amazing. Come here every now and then and enjoy it each time :)

I searched for a dinner spot to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday and knew she was craving sushi the past month. Inside Sushi Chitose, we were greeted by a quiet atmosphere, with the sushi bar and a few tables welcoming us directly. Sushi Chitose's affordable omakase was truly worth it; impeccable service and incredibly fresh fish made the experience exceptional. I loved that they accommodated for my allergy against scallops, they served me tuna instead of scallops and I still really enjoyed it. Note that reservations are a must, but it's well worth the effort for a future visit (no walk ins).

Every dish came out looking like it had been through a glow‑up montage. So delicious! * Unagi -- Melted in my mouth like it had a personal vendetta against being solid. Sweet, buttery, and dangerously addictive. * Katsu -- Crispy enough to be heard across the booth. If this dish had a crunchy Japanese category, this would be the headliner. * Spicy tuna -- The perfect balance of heat and flavor. Not "call the fire department" spicy, but definitely "I see you trying to impress me" spicy. * Seared tuna, Elegant, silky, and so fresh it probably had plans later. * Uni pasta, Listen... this dish is a commitment. Creamy, ocean‑kissed, and luxurious. It's the kind of pasta that makes you sit back and reevaluate your life choices, in a good way. * Sake - WOW ...My delicious sake was smooth, floral, and paired with everything like it had studied my taste buds in advance. The staff here operate with polite ninja efficiency. They appear, refill, deliver, and disappear before you can even say "arigato." Not rushed, not pushy, just clean, respectful Japanese hospitality that makes you feel taken care of. "Always remember the energy you give....is the energy you get in return!" The private booths are the star of the show. Cozy, warm lighting, and enough privacy to talk chisme without worrying about the table next to you judging your life choices. It's intimate without being cramped, like a little wooden cocoon of comfort. Kagura is one of those Torrance gems that hits every category: authentic food, quiet comfort, top‑tier service, and dishes that make you want to come back before you've even left the parking lot, oh and let me remind you how small that parking lot is, be prepared. The restaurant was chaotic to say the least. It was overbooked and still booking as they had a Yelp waitlist tablet available. Tension was in the air as people waited to be seated. One guy who put his name on the waitlist was waiting over 45minutes and I saw a party of girls leave after waiting. My party of two ended up seated at 7:30pm. We knew exactly what to order and put our order in when the first waiter came by. It was not a bad idea as we noticed that tables that were seated by us around the same time did not get their food as quickly as we did. We were seated around the same time, but we left before two tables got to their main courses. Food was delicious. I had their salad, cauliflower soup, and yuzu pepericino. My +1 got the garlic bread and curry bolognese. Flavors were great and not overwhelming. The restaurant is small. It was well decorated, but there was no insulation for the noise. With a full house and music playing, the restaurant was extremely loud. I was yelling over the meal to communicate. I'm sure this would not be an issue on a quieter evening. Ventilation was also not that great. It was pretty humid during dinner. Servers and the host were very friendly. Although it was very busy, everyone kept cool and was very kind. It was very busy that night and no one was leading the restaurant team. I saw the host make salads while checking in guests. He also left their post to attend to tables. Some girls who looked like they were only suppose to clean tables were very confused when guest approached them about checking in. Even worse was reserving and the waitlist was still available during that rush. I don't think there was a system to seat people who booked ahead and people who walked in.

The food highlights were easily the gobo chips and the skewers. The gobo chips arrived as an impressive, light-as-air mound dusted with seaweed seasoning... super crisp, savory, and addictively easy to snack on. The pork and wagyu skewers were masterfully executed as well, coming off the grill tender, juicy, and packed with rich, smoky flavor. The toasted eihire (stingray/filefish) was another great traditional touch, perfectly chewy and ideal for dipping in the spiced Japanese mayo my favorite.. On the flip side, a few dishes lacked the depth I was hoping for. The chicken karaage was fried well, but the flavor itself was a bit bland and needed more seasoning or marination and soft. The pressed rice rolls also fell flat, particularly the mentaiko roll.. it felt skimpy on the cod roe, and because the mentaiko seemed cooked through, it missed that fresh, raw texture and punchy brine that makes the dish shine. As for the space, it's quite dark, compact, and packed tightly with tables, which makes it feel a bit cramped when it's busy. However, seeing the dining room constantly full tells me that their best dishes keep people coming back. While there were some inconsistencies in taste, the highlights made it a solid experience, and I'm looking forward to returning to try more of the menu and updating my score!

They not only had a space that big, but it also felt private. The staff was super attentive. The food is great. I ordered a rainbow roll. All the fish was super fresh. Even though we had a large group, we all got our food at around the same time. It was a great lunch for our work pal.

We chose Ise-Shima at the Miyako Hotel for an early birthday celebration with my parents, wife,…read morechildren, sister and nephews. It should have been an easy win. The room is beautiful. The chefs are visible. The staff is plentiful. The music is good. The atmosphere feels like the kind of place that understands hospitality. Unfortunately, the experience never quite came together. The first challenge was the temperature. The dining room felt more like a sauna than a restaurant. To his credit, our server Arthur worked hard to help and eventually got management to increase the air conditioning. He was easily the standout of the evening and did everything he could to salvage the experience. We ordered extensively, including the $130 Ise Course. Some of it was quite good. Some of it was surprisingly disappointing. The grilled lobster with yuzu miso and kinome was completely overcooked, dry and buried under too much sauce. One of the signature dishes of the course ended up being one of the weakest. The grilled yellowtail suffered from the same problem: dry, overcooked and lacking the care you would expect from a restaurant presenting a seasonal multi course menu at this price point. The larger issue was organization. Dishes constantly arrived with servers asking, "Who ordered this?" or "Who has the udon?" The dining room felt strangely disconnected from the kitchen. Food runners seemed unsure where dishes belonged, which created confusion throughout the meal. Then things really went sideways. Trying to be respectful, I asked that my parents be served first. Everyone eventually received their meals and continued eating. The problem was that my Ise Course never arrived in sequence. My family finished their meals. My children finished. My parents finished. My sister finished. And on my birthday, I sat there alone waiting for several missing courses while everyone else watched. A seasonal set menu is supposed to feel paced and intentional. Instead, it felt forgotten. Arthur again stepped in and spoke with management. The restaurant offered complimentary desserts, which was appreciated, although somewhat awkward because my meal was still arriving while everyone else was already moving on to dessert. What happened next genuinely surprised me. When the bill arrived, management returned and asked whether we would be willing to authorize an additional charge so gratuity could be increased from 18% to 20% because of the size of the party. After the heat, the delays, the confusion, the overcooked centerpiece dishes, the missed pacing and spending a birthday meal eating alone after everyone else had finished, it felt like the wrong conversation to be having. I don't enjoy writing reviews like this because there is clearly talent in the building and Arthur deserves recognition for how hard he worked. But hospitality is ultimately about making people feel cared for. On this visit, despite a beautiful room and some good food, that never happened.
